Acrobat Professional shuts down

User is experiencing problem with new Acrobat Professional 9.1 version.
Error  "has encountered a problem and needs to close"  Please see attached screen shot
This is a recurring problem. This happens when the user copies text from commentary from one document to another document. But it also happens from other actions. Re-installing also did not help.
Any inputs will be very helpful. Thanks,

I am also having the same problem.  I also have a problem that has been on going for over a year. I keep getting a pop up " Invalid Annotation Object" and cannot get rid of it. Others have had the same problem as I said for over a year.
Has Adobe made any patches for resolve the problem.  I am using Acrobat 9 Pro Extented.  XP Pro and have 4gigs Ram.
If Adobe has not fixed the problem is there another way to fix it. Others have uninstalled and re-installed the program without results.
Thanks  Rocky

    Hi Chandra,
    you can try following.
Before saving PDF form, put external breakpoint in FM
    AC_FLUSH_CALL_INTERNAL.
Save PDF Form, i guess it should go to this FM. Check which exception is setting sy-subrc = 2.
(There are different checks in this FM for checking ActiveX, javabeen support etc).
    Hope this will help.
Although, I never encountered the error you mentioned

  • Adobe Acrobat 11 shutting down

Adobe Acrobat 11 shuts down when I am cutting and pasting between 2 PDF's from a network drive. Software update and reinstall have already been performed. Windows 7 Enterprise is the OS on a networked PC.

You may have to copy the files locally and make the changes, then load them back to the network. You are likely looking at some network issue that I do not have the ability to help you on, but the copy will work until you can resolve the network drive issues.

  • Acrobat 7 shuts down imidiately when opening PDF-files on webpages

The company in which I am employed used Acrobat 7. A while ago 1 or 2 employees started having problems opening PDF-files from web sites. PDF-files on our server and local hard drive would open with no problem. Since then the problem has spreaded to almost all the employees.
When we click on a link which links to a PDF-file, Acrobat loads the file normally and then shuts down imidiately.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat. I have tried to upgrade to the newest sub-version of the Acrobat 7. I have tried to right-click, open in new window. Nothing helps.
Has anyone experienced this and solved it?
    Your help is greatly appreciated!

Update: In my company we have decided that we do not want PDF-files to open in Internet Explorer (because of reason related to out intranet) when clicking on a link to a PDF-file on the internet, so we have unchecked the setting "Show PDF in browser".
When I re-check the setting "Show PDF in browser" the above mentioned problem disappears. Why oh why?

  • Acrobat 9 shuts down over fake license issue. Is this Adobe's way off forcing me to buy a new one?

I've had Acrobat 9 for years. Yesterday it started shutting down saying I do not have a license. The message says I need to uninstall and reinstall the software. I haven't seen that disk for years. Is this Adobe's way of forcing me to buy a new one?

    Hey philipe4276624,
We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience that has caused to you.
This might be an issue where licensing for your Acrobat version 9 has stopped working.
Please refer the below mentioned links and try out the troubleshooting steps for your OS:

  • Acrobat XI shuts down unexpectedly

When making changes to a pdf document using the text editor/typewriter tools the program will tell me it has to close then does so.  All changes I made are lost and I have to start over.  I made sure that I am on the latest version and we are.  I tried to do a repair in the program files but that wasn't an option.  I thought to uninstall/reinstall but the box was preloaded and I don't have a CD to perform that.  Any thoughts on why it does this and how to fix it?

  • My Acrobat 8.1.3 shuts down seconds after opening any document or other activity.

I have a Dell XPS 8100 operating Windows 7 Home Premium. I haven't used the Acrobat for a while so am not sure when the problem began. But today, when I tried opening several documents (all, or one at a time), Acrobat would shut down within seconds. The same happens when I select any tab after opening Acrobat. I went through the repair both with and without the disc, rebooting each time, but the problem is still there. Suggestions?

That is really strange and not an expected behavior. Other than the reinstall, I don't really have other suggestions (wish I did). Sometimes when this kind of thing occurs, there is another product that is causing an issue. If you are runnin your AA8 on a 64-bit machine, that may be the issue. I have only heard of success 2 times for that combination, and I am not sure I believe the report in full.
If you decide to do the Reinstall, then the process is as follows: deactivate, uninstall, remove the Acrobat folder (if any of it is left), run the cleaner http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, reboot, install, activate, update. Typically all of the updates can be done and then reboot, rather than all the extra reboots.

  • Acrobat Standard 10 starts up and then shuts down within a few seconds

Im running windows 7 professional. I was using adobe acrobat Standard 10 and downloaded and installed the files to be able to view 3D pdf's. after that it would open acrobat standard and then shut down after a few seconds. So then i tried to use acrobat pro 11 and then it worked fine. The problem was that this acrobat was only a trial version. I then tried to do a system restore to just have the acrobat standard 10. I then was having the same issues as before. So i unistalled everything including the 3D viewing program. Reinstalled just acrobat standard 10 and i still have the same issue. I manually downloaded the latest update and that has not worked. I am not to sure what to do???

With the uninstall (and hopefully deactivation), you should have also run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html and removed the Acrobat folder. the reboot and reinstall.

  • Activation server shut down for Creative Suite 2, Acrobat 7, and Macromedia products

Effective December 13, Adobe disabled the activation server for CS2 products and Acrobat 7 because of a technical glitch. These products were released over 7 years ago and do not run on many modern operating systems. But to ensure that any customers activating those old versions can continue to use their software, we issued a serial number directly to those customers.  While this might be interpreted as Adobe giving away software for free, we did it to help our customers.
If your software is affected by the activation server shut down then you will receive an error that the Activation server is unavailable.  The specific affected products are as follows:
    Acrobat 7.0 - Windows
    After Effects 7.0
    Audition 3.0
    Captivate 1.0
    Contribute 2.0
    Contribute 3.0
    Creative Suite 2.0
    Director MX 2004
    Dreamweaver MX 2004
    Fireworks MX 2004
    Flash Paper 2.0
    Freehand MX
    GoLive CS2
    GoLive 9.0
    Illustrator CS2
    InCopy CS2
    InDesign CS2
    Macromedia Studo MX 2004
    Photoshop CS
    Photoshop CS2
    Photoshop Elements 4.0
    Photoshop Elements 5.0
    Premiere Pro 7.0
    Production Studio Premium
The activation server being shut down will not affect currently installed and activated Adobe software.  You will only face this difficulty if you need to reactivate the software.
To remedy this difficulty we have made available a version of these software titles that does not require activation for Users who have previously purchase the affected software.  For additional details and specific links to the software please see:

    System requirements

    Still facing installation difficulties?
If you are experiencing an installation issue with the software currently available I would recommend creating a new thread in the Downloading, Installing, and Setting up forum - http://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup.  If you can please make sure to include the following:
    •          What software are you trying to install?
    •          Which operating system are you using?
    •          Was the software previously installed prior to downloading the non-activating version currently available?
    •          What specific error messages are you receiving when trying to install?

    Hello Jeff.
EN version is not so eaqual in all with CZ version, I have PREMIUM one, not Standard.
So I download these EN versions and Acrobat 7Pro separately.
It look that it works, I have it installed on my presentation laptop. I ussualy work on PC and laptop is for bussines trips mostly.
When I was working on my PC I found in menu one interesting option. I have installed CS2 in 2010 so it works OK, still in CZ. What I found in menu is called "Licence Transfer".
I didnt try it because I dont want to loose my activation on PC, but could you please say to me what does this option means?
Is it possible to copy licence on flash disk and use it on laptop, but it still be in PC also? Or it is only for deactivation, so you will loose it, and after this you can do new activation (which is impossible by server shut down)?
And one question to the end, if I buy some later version like CS4 or CS5 (from some graphic studio which have one licence to sell-transfer) so do Adobe plan to shut down server too, for CS4, CS5 or after this non user/customer friendly solution (I mean for CS2) will Adobe do some application which we can install on our local PC and this app will say to CSxx "Your licence is OK, just continue in work" ?? --- this would be much better, I think if Adobe do this so it will be the same like no-activation versions in EN only but without so many complains and impacts on your customers.
    Thank you for reply me
