Acrobat Professional Update Yet?

Anyone have any news on when Adobe will update Acrobat professional to work with Leopard? The Adobe website says late January 2008 which has now passed. You seem to have to pay to Email Adobe a question.

I've been going back and forth with Adobe support for a month with no luck. Acrobat Distiller crashes after the dialog where it prompts for file name. Launches the print queue manager, which then stops with a crash in the console log for:
Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000000
Crashed Thread: 2
Is anyone having problems with Acrobat Pro? Just me?

  • Acrobat 7 Professional Update to 7.0.9

I have tried updating my Acrobat Professional to version 7.0.9 without success. The update patch runs but does not update all the files.
For example, acrobat.exe and acrobat.dll remain at version 7.0.8.218 and do not update to version 7.0.9.
One file that has updated is AcroIEFavClient.dll which shows version 7.0.9.50. In addition, the about screen in acrobat says version 7.0.9.
Any ideas of what I should do to get the update to install properly.]
    Thanks

I believe the about screen is incorrect. It probably draws the version number from the registry. When I say it does not update all the files, I mean that almost none of the files are updated. The acrobat.exe file remains at version 7.0.8.218 and file date of May 16, 2006. There are two files with a file date of April 23, 2008 (acrobat.dll and cooltype.dll), one file with a file date of April 15, 2008 (Acrobat_sl.exe) and two files with a file date of December 18, 2006 (AGM.dll and AcroIEFavClient.dll). These are the only files newer than acrobat.exe in the root directory of the program (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat).
Are these the same as everyone else has who has updated to version 7.1.0?
I also only update directly with the downloads from Adobe.com and not using the update option in Acrobat.

  • Disable Auto Update in Acrobat Professional 9 for OS X

We have a series of installations in a lab/classroom environment where we would like to disable the autoupdate feature of Acrobat Professional 9. Currently when a new user logs in the autoupdater wil launch telling the user that there's a new update available. That's great and all except that a) most users are not admins and couldn't do the update any way, b) we use Sassafras Keyserver and updating the App with IT will cause the keyserver functionality to stop which would then make us fall out of compliance with licensing, c) IT likes to make sure that ALL users are on the same version which means that we need to control when and how updates are installed.
Is there any way to do this and then have the settings propagate to all users?

    Hi,
There's no machine level setting to disable ARM for all users in MAC.
However, you could set the update mode to manual using Edit->Preferences->Do not automatically download or install updates. This has to be done by each user since the setting is user specific.
    Hope this helps.
Also, I have a small query. When Acrobat\Reader  installed as an admin is launched for a non-admin user, it requires admin credentials on first launch. Since most of your users are non-admin, how are they able to launch Acrobat\reader wihtout providing admin passwords?

  • Acrobat Professional 9 and Acrobat Reader 9: cannot update, remove, or re-install ...

After I have downloaded Acrobat Professional 9.0 updates and Acrobat Reader 9 updates, both update installations fail.
    Acrobat Reader 9 problems
I thought that there could be a conflict between Acrobat Reader 9, which I have also installed, and Acrobat Professional 9.0, so I tried to remove Acrobat Reader 9, but the patch package could not be found. I then ran the Windows Install Cleanup tool, but Acrobat Reader 9 is still on my system. I now cannot reinstall it, nor can I really remove it
I’d like to remove Acrobat Reader 9 entirely because I already have Acrobat Professional 9.0, but how?
    Acrobat Professional 9.0 problems
When I try to remove Acrobat Professional 9.0 in order to re-install it from disk, I get the message that the patch package could not be found. When I insert the disk to try to repair Acrobat Professional 9.0, I get the message that the patch package could not be opened. When I try to use the Repair Acrobat Installation option in the Help menu of the program, nothing happens.
I’m hesitant to run the Windows Install Cleanup tool on Acrobat Professional 9.0 because of the problems I got with Acrobat Reader 9 after running the Windows Install Cleanup tool.
How can I re-install Acrobat Professional 9.0 from disk?

    Amanda,
As Van says, yes you can have both seleced at the same time. I suspect there are other issues on your machine that are creating your problems. FWIW, I too have been running FM9 on a win7 64-bit platform with no issues.
The Roaming Profile is used typicaly with remote logins across a WAN (wide area network), however, application specific gets stored there - depending upon the application. Since you've seemed to have resolved the issue by deleting (or disabling the profile, i.e. the apps won't look there) the Roaming profile folder, it sounds like there might have been something corrupt or erroneous in the Acrobat data folders. When you installed your FM versions, did you deselect the accompanying PDFcreator option? If not and you had an existing Acrobat installation, then some items would have been overwritten, creating some issues for you.

  • Cannot update Acrobat Professional 9.0.0

My situation: I have bought Adobe Acrobat Pro (version 8) for Max OSX and later on bought an update to version 9 (Acrobat Professional). However I am unable to update the software as I keep on receiving the message that the software is not in it's original configuration (plugins are missing). I should fix that problem which could be done by reinstalling the software. However, that advise did not work for me.
When I select the REPAIR-option (my version is in Dutch, I don't know if REPAIR is the menu-item in the English version, but it is an option found in the HELP-menu) in version 8, there is nothing to be repaired. In version 9 I can repair the Adobe PDFViewer Safari-plugin and the Adobe PDF Printer plugin. After repairing those plugins, I receive a pop-up confirming that everything is repaired. However: the update is still not being installed and when I ask to REPAIR again, it appears that the same plugins still need to be repaired.
So: it seems to be the case that I am unable to repair those 2 plugins in version 9.
Is one of you familiar with this problem? If so, (how) did you fix this problem?
    Best regards,
    M.

And... the problem is solved!!! Thank you VERY much
Fixing the permissions did the trick! At first I was doubtfull as the uninstaller from Adobe even refused to uninstall Adobe 9 (I then decided to just put the app-folder in the trash bin). But after deleting Adobe 9, fixing permissions and reinstalling the software, I was able to update to version 9.1.2.
    Best regards,

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 Mac won't update past 8.1.5

Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 Mac won't update past 8.1.5

    Find the updaters here: https://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Macintosh
You must apply all of the updates sequentially. There is not master updater.

  • Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 wants to update every day

Every time I start up my computer (an iMac running Leopard 10.5.4), I get a message saying that there is an update available for Acrobat Professional 8.1.2 (which came with CS3). I click on "update", it appears to install in the blink of an eye, and then the next day it all happens again - why?
I have installed all the relevant patches I could find on the Adobe website.
    Any ideas?

Hi.  Thanks for such a quick response.
I'm afraid I'm not sure what running Updater myself means, in that I thought I was doing that when I clicked on the Instal Now button, as in previous message.
HOWEVER, on checking my Adobe Utilities folder, in Applications>Utilities, I've just realised that I have TWO versions of Adobe Updater, namely 5 and 6.  On trying each successively, I've found that it was version 5 that was popping up instructing (sorry, inviting) me to upgrade to 8.1.5; version 6 just tells me "There are no updates available at this time".
Meanwhile, it had occurred to me that I had tried, some time ago, to download Adobe Reader 9, but that it hadn't worked.  I just tried to do this again.  It downloaded all right but, when I tried to open it, after I'd clicked on Agree (to the licence agreement) it announced that "An internal error occurred" and then crashed.
I don't know how this free (but unusable) downloaded Acrobat Reader 9 relates to my Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.4... or to either of my Adobe updaters.
There is no Plug-Ins folder in my Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional folder, and I can't find by name any of the plug-ins listed in Acrobat>About Adobe Plug-Ins... (I assume that these should be different from the plug-ins in the InDesign, Photoshop, Bridge etc. Plug-Ins folders.)  They must be somewhere, though, as Acrobat>Preferences apparently allows me to edit settings.  So I don't know if any of them are disabled or third party.
I'm afraid I'm reluctant to re-instal from the CS disk at the moment, for fear of finding myself unable to use either Photoshop or InDesign, with which I am desperate to finish a piece of work just now.  (I had a problem some years ago with an Adobe re-installation and spent a very long time trying to get codes form Adobe to get started again.)
I guess I'll just have to live with the jumping ikon for the time being.  Though perhaps I could throw away Updater5?

  • Where is the Acrobat 8.1 Professional update download link?

Where is the Acrobat 8.1 Professional update download link?
I've spent all afternoon searching for it and can't find it. I can find every other link for 8.1.1 all the way up to 8.3.1, but no link to 8.1, which I had downloaded a few years ago.
Also, does anyone know if I have to install all the way up to 8.3.1 since I just use it for text and not 3D?
Please help, because I just reinstalled my original version of 8.0 and it's got the original problem with printing.
I can't afford to buy a new version right now since I'm out of work. Thanks for your help.

If you cannot install them from the help menu, then to go ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/. If you have a MAC, move up the directory tree.

  • I need help updating Adobe Acrobat Professional 9 WIN to Adobe Acrobat 9.1.0?

I had a computer crash and had to reinstall my Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 again and it claims the updates are not available.  Seems when the computer was OK before the crash I had it updated to 9.4 or something like that.  Now I can't install any updates.  All updates are still available on www.adobe.com.  I hope someone can help me get this updated.  When I try opening the Help tab and select Check for Updates it says there are none but I believe there are updates but not supported anymore by Adobe.
    Thanks very much,
    John D.

You can uninstall Acrobat, run the cleaner tool then re-install or you download the updates manually from the adobe web site.
Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
I could not find Acrobat 9 updates on the Adobe web site. You can find the updates on the adobe ftp file.

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.1.0 update

    Bonjour,

  • Acrobat Professional 6.0.1 patch and GPOs

There are now three installations that need to be completed in order to install the latest version of Acrobat Professional.
6.0.0 which is in standard .msi format and can be deployed using a GPO after a little tweaking.
6.0.1 which is an .msp format but cannot be applied to a network source of 6.0.0. If this could be done, I could simply redeploy the GPO and get the update down to the workstations.
6.0.2 which is back to .msi format however if you apply it to 6.0.0, you don't get the update displayed in Acrobat Professional. I haven't fully tested this yet, but it appears to be in a "GPO friendly" state already.
Does anyone have a way to deploy the 6.0.1 patch via GPO? I could write an msi wrapper around it, but then it won't sequence smoothly in AD.

Lots of good comments but no solutions were posted.
I am at this point in August that this threads talks about June.
    Was there a solutions?
I have a 3rd party that displays critical information via Adobe's plugins into IE but Adobe has to be 6.0.2 for the diplays to work with IE.
I am trying to come up with two pushes via GPO.
One for Adobe Standard 6.0.5 and the other for Adobe Reader 6.0.1.
So, did anyone find away to upgrade to 6.0.2 using GPO's?
Would be most grateful if some knows how to do this.

  • Acrobat 9.0 serial not working for Acrobat XI update (Mac)

The subject line says it all. When I try to run my newly downloaded XI update, it requests a serial number for a qualifying product. I have Acrobat 9.0.0 Pro installed, and when I try to run XI, I get a window reading: "Serial Number you provided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer."
Then I manually input the serial (correctly--I've triple checked), select Acrobat Professional 9.0 for Mac in the pull down menu and click "Next." I get an error message saying, "This serial number is not for a qualifying product. Please try another."
    What the heck?

I just migrated everything from an old Mac to a new one, but now Acrobat Professional will not launch. I get an error message: "Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time......"

I used "Migration Assistant" to send everything from my old mac to my new which included my copy of Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. I tried downloading an update but when it asked me to find the version of acrobat to replace it was grayed out and I was unable to select it. My OS is 10.9.4

  • Hallo! Habe Adobe Creative Suite CS6 heruntergeladen und installiert. Photoshop, Illustrator und Indesign funktionieren, Acrobat Professional nicht. Fehler: DW050. Was ist schief gegangen?

Hallo!
