Acrobat Reader 11.0.9 has never started

Hi !
Today after the closing of a pdf document with Acrobat Reader X, I received an offer to install Acrobat Reader XI.
The installation didn't report any problem. When i click on the freshly installed icon, I see a window for about 1 second.
It always disapears. Same issue if i click a .pdf document.
It doesn't seem to be a crash because there is no trace inside Window's events observer.
I did both a repair, an a full re-installation. In all cases i allways have the same issue describe above.
My system is Windows 7 SP1
Any idea ?

It looks like is a memory corruption

  • Acrobat Reader 6.0.6 will not start up

    When I try to open any PDF file, Acrobat Reader attempts to start up but then immediately shuts down. I get a black splash screen that tells me to restart my computer. I am running OS X 10.4.11 on a PowerBook G4 1.5Ghz with 1.5GB on RAM. No printers or external devices are attached. Does any one know what is causing this. Need some help. Thanks

    There is no uninstaller for Acrobat 6 Pro. I did find somewhere in these forums that someone had written a script to uninstall Acrobat Pro 6 which worked great. However, that link has been taken down. Maybe someone out there still has a copy. I did find a TechNote on how to remove Acrobat 6 manually. Looks like a monumental job, about 2 pages of items to delete. If you find a better solution, sure would like to know about it. Thanks.

    Clearly Acrobat Reader has a problem.  If you point me at the symbols for AcroRd32 I'll help debug it for you since I can repro it easily.

    Here are few solutions:
    1. You can configure firefox to open pdf in external application like acroread. This way plugin problem is bypassed. - I use it this way. It looks to be faster this way.
    2. "C:\nppdf32Log\debuglog.txt" is created every time in directory from where you executed firefox/opera/other browser and opened any pdf file in browser. So this is not only home directory. You can fix this problem by yourself by hex editing nppdf.so file and replacing C:\nppdf32Log\debuglog.txt path in this file with /dev/null path. • New computer, windows 7 64bit, installed 18.0 but it has never started....it keeps crashing. Help....

    I have never been able to start it on this computer, it crashes everytime. I do have crash reports but I don't know what to do with them,

    We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
    #Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
    #In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
    #From that explorer window, double-click on the ''Mozilla'' folder, then double-click on ''Firefox'' and then on ''Crash reports''. Double-click on ''submitted''.
    #Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to ''View'' > ''Arrange Icons by'' > ''Modified'' to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
    #Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
    #Paste each ID into the reply window on the forums.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Firefox 4.01 has never started in my iMac with OS10.6.7, why?

    About six times I have downloaded Firefox 4, each time I have tried to use it it has crashed on opening . I have never even seen the home page

    That is because that Firefox 3.6.x version has been released later than the Firefox 4 version.
    If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
    Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 has never started up... error message every time. Help please?

    Hi...
    I recently bought the Production Premium CS5.5 suite.
    Most of the programs work. (I haven't tried ALL of them. But the main ones -- Photoshop CS5.1 and After Effects -- work flawlessly.)
    But Premiere Pro CS5.5.0 doesn't open. Keeps giving me the good old error message: 'Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 has stopped working'. This is happening every time I try to open it. And it never gets past the opening screen. This is MIGHTY frustrating. And there seems to be no coherent advice on the matter anywhere on the Adobe Forums. Might just be that I haven't spotted it.

    One problem appears to be that your T901 does not meet the minimum specification for Premiere CS5 - according to the Fujitsu specification sheet, its screen resolution is too low at 1280 x 800 - the minimum required is 1280 x 900.

  • Trying to download the Trial of Acrobat DC but download never starts

    Trying to download the Trial of Acrobat DC but when I get to the page that says "when your download is complete, you will be able to start using Acrobat" nothing happens. The download never starts.

    if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  Adobe Acrobat DC Pro/Standard and Reader: Direct Download Links | ProDesignTools
    and activate with your serial number.
    if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
    the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
    failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

  • Configure Acrobat Reader tool buttons when Reader is started inside SAP GUI

    Hi,
    we have deployed some registry keys in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGerneral\cToolbars" to show some tool buttons in Acrobat Reader. This works fine when starting Acrobat Reader as standalone application.
    But in SAP GUI the Acrobat Reader starts with default tool buttons.
    Is there a chance to configure the Acrobat Reader tool buttons when the Reader is started inside a SAP GUI session?
    thanks
    Albert

    These are the settings in the registry to show/hide tools in the Adobe Reader 9 toolbar.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cBasicTools\cInternalButtons]
    "a0"="Select"
    "a1"="Hand"
    "a2"="Zoomin"
    "a3"="ZoomDrag"
    "a4"="endBasicToolsGroup"
    "a5"="ZoomViewOut"
    "a6"="ZoomViewIn"
    "a7"="ZoomTo"
    "a8"="Zoom100"
    "a9"="FitWidth"
    "a10"="FitPage"
    "a11"="endZoomTypeGroup"
    "a12"="PanAndZoom"
    "a13"="Loupe"
    "a14"="SelectGraphics"
    "a15"="endZoomToolsGroup"
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cCommenting\cStamp]
    "bInternalExpanded"=dword:00000001
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cFile\cInternalButtons]
    "a1"="Print"
    "a2"="Save"
    "a3"="SaveFileAs"
    "a4"="FindDialog"
    "a5"="endDialogGroup"
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\9.0\AVGeneral\cToolbars\cPageDisplay\cInternalButtons]
    "a0"="endLayoutZoomTypeGroup"
    "a1"="Fullscreen"
    "a2"="endPageLayoutViewGroup"
    "a3"="RotateCCW"
    "a4"="RotateCW"
    "a5"="Wireframe"
    When starting Adobe Reader standalone this works fine.
    But starting Adobe Reader from a SAP GUI Session (for example in transaction CV03N) the default tools will be shown.
    Is there a chance to configure the Acrobat Reader tool buttons when the Reader is started inside a SAP GUI session?
    thanks

  • Can't view PDF files using Acrobat Reader X

    We made many PDF files available on our Web site. In the past few weeks we noticed that users who were using Acrobat Reader X and Internet Explorer 8 or 9 were not able to view some PDF files. Basically, when they clicked a link to display a PDF file, the screen would be cleared and the status bar showing "Loading ...KB/...K/B" would be displayed. The status bar would move a bit and then got stuck. The PDF file would never be displayed. Sometimes, my users could click the Back button to go back the previous Web page and sometimes they had to close or kill the IE window. Small PDF files seemed to be fine. I was able to repeat this problem on PCs running Windows XP and Windows 7. I also tested clicking the same PDF files with PCs installed with Acrobat Reader 9 and I was not able to cause the problem to occur, so I am pretty sure that this problem is related to Acrobat Reader X. I also noticed that if I unchecked the "Display PDF in browser"  option in Acrobat Reader X so that PDF files would not be displayed inside the Internet Explorer window, I would be able to view all PDF files without any problems.
    I also did an experiment by resaving many PDF files using Acrobat Pro (Reduce File Size...) to be compatible with Acrobat 8 or above. I was able to open these PDF files using Acrobat Reader X but when I used a PC with Acrobat 9, it would get stuck instead. Most of my PDF files were created a long time ago and we usually made it compatible with Acrobat 5 or above.
    I saw that some people reported some problems with Acrobat Reader X but I did not see a solution except uninstalling Acrobat Reader X and installing an old version of Acrobat Reader instead. Anyone has any ideas why this is happening and how to fix this problem?
    RJ

    Sounds like you got the trial of Acrobat. Go to add/remove programs, get rid of it, the download the free Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/

  • Acrobat Reader 9 with an Acrobat 5-8 Created Form?

    Hello,
    I am new to my job working with a ASP application that provides a PDF form (created in Acrobat 5) to users with free form fields the user can fill out. Users have been complaining that when the users upgrade to Acrobat Reader 9 the begin to see a message that "Some features are no longer supported..." and the ability to save a local copy of the file is no longer available. I have 2 questions.
    Was the ability to save a local copy of a form with user-entered data ever a feature of Acrobat Reader?
    Is that an issue that can be corrected by creating the form with the Acrobat 9 Life-Cycle engine or is that a feature that has forever been removed from Acrobat Reader for security or other reasons?
    Thanks in advance!
    - Yohancef

    No I was referring to filled in forms.
    So to be clear, the ability to save user filled in information in a form to your local machine as a PDF through Acrobat Reader IS possible, but has to be enabled by opening the form in Acrobat (9 for example) and enabling some feature to allows Reader users to save the information to the PDF file. This feature is limited though and has a 500 use limit per form.
    Does that sound correct? Do you know the name of the feature?
    Thanks!

    Subject: Acrobat Reader 9 with an Acrobat 5-8 Created Form?
    There may be some features that are not supported any more but you may not be using them. That message is just a general warning.
    As far as saving the filled in form, Reader on it's own has never been able to do it. You would need the newer version of Acrobat to open and enable these forms so that Reader users can save them. Be warned that this feature is meant for small-time use and has a usage limit of 500 submissions per form. You'll want to read and undestand the EULA before planning on using it.
    Or do you mean that they cannot save the unfilled form either?

  • I downloaded adobe download assistant four times, however every time, it never starts installing.

    I have downloaded the adobe download assistant four times, however, it has never started to install automatically. My task manager tells me that it is running as a background task, what does this mean? What should I do to gain access to the trial version of adobe flast CS6 professional?

    Do you receive any specific error messages when trying to open the Adobe Download Assistant?  Alternately you can try the steps listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader for Windows XP

    I just uninstalled my Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0, which apparently never got updated and did not work, and now I need to choose a later version compatible with Windows XP; however, I'm not sure if my older software can handle the latest version or not.  Which version should I use?  I'm not technically that savvy but know a few things!  Thanks!

    I cannot answer you a second time on your last reply in the forum, so am using email.  I wanted to mark your answer as correct so you'd get points and can do nothing.  I'm a new member.
    The great news is I did get Adobe Reader installed this morning, (as I had to work on getting the Windows SP3 running yesterday.)  All your info was excellent!  Thank you so much again.
    Other problems have arisen:  I can only manually open a pdf attachment to emails by manually bringing up Adobe Reader rather than clicking on the attachment and automatically viewing the pdf screen.  The older version opened it automatically in Firefox, so I don't think it's a Firefox problem, but could be since I'm a novice.
    I've done everything possible to troubleshoot this, taking an extra day to update other software, to no avail.  It now will not comply with all the automatic commands for my homepage, Intel pro-set wireless, and I cannot disable a dosearch.com toolbar I never saw before.  I have AVG 2014 but with the sp3 McAfee security; possibly they conflict.  All my updates for everything I can find are current.  It just may be time to take this pc to the shop.

  • Drop Shadows problem in Acrobat Reader & Professional

    Hi all,
    We have a problem with Acrobat, when we open an pdf which has drop shadow over a background seems to be white patch around the dropshadow.
    Attempt done:
    First Attempt: Opened the PDF in acrobat professional 7, when we switch on overprint option this seems to be good but when I print I got the white patch around the dropshadow.
    Second Attempt: Opened the PDF in Acrobat Reader 9.0, it has white patch and print has white patch.
    Third Attempt: Opened the PDF in Acrobat Professional 8, when we switch on overprint option looks fine and print fine.
    Client want the pdf should be compatible in Acrobat Reader.
    Note: This PDF was generated with 3b2 Software we cannot switch over the software to Indesign.
    Any suggestion related to this issue.
    Kaviya

    The overprint settings would need to be set in the source file and preserved when generating the pdf. Based on the information from the uploaded file, you might try Arbortext Advanced Print Publisher support.
