Acrobat Reader 9.0 PDF - Commenting property "Not Allowed"

Hi,
I saved a document in Illustrator as PDF but unfortunately the Commenting property is set to "Not Allowed" and I cannot mark-up the file in Acrobat Reader. What is strange is all properties are set to "Allowed" when I open the same document in Acrobat Pro!
Can I do anything in Illustrator or Acrobat Reader in order to have this Commenting property set to "Allowed"?
For info, I am using Illustrator CS2 and Acrobat Reader 9.0
Cheers!

This is normal. Reader cannot normally add comments.
HOWEVER, a file can be prepared in Acrobat Pro (See the Comments menu)
so Reader can add comments. This locks out certain other things: read
the warning carefully.

  • Bug in Acrobat Reader 8 & 9? "Actual size" not actual size

When I choose to view a PDF in "actual size" using Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 or 9, it is NOT actual size.  Under Acrobat Reader 7, it WAS actual size.
For example, if I go to the properties of the document and find out that it is supposed to be an 8.5 x 11 document, the document on screen is not 8.5 x 11.
This used to work under Acrobat 7, but doesn't work under Acrobat 8 or 9.  It used to be that you could hold an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper up to your monitor and the size of the image on screen was exactly 8.5 x 11, but now if I do the same thing, the size on the monitor does not match the actual size of the paper.
Is this a bug or something else?

The screen size is 17" and the current resolution is 1024 x 1280 (it is in "portrait" mode), but it happens at every resolution I've tested.

  • Submit by email doesn't work in Acrobat Reader to send PDF

I am making a fillable PDF and users on Acrobat Reader cannot email pdf, only data file. I need them to be able to send a pdf. What am I doing wrong?

Don't use the regular "'submit by email button." If you use this button, you can only submit the data as XML. Instead, make your own button.
In the Object library under Standard objects, click and drag a plain button to your form. Change the Control Type to Submit. Now you should have a new tab called Submit with a "submit to URL" option.  In that field type the return email address in the following format:  mailto:[email protected]  Toward the bottom of the same option, there is a field that says "submit" and the choice is XML data package.  Change that to PDF.  Then change the name of the button to "Submit by Email."  Now when you preview your form and click the Submit by Email button, it should mail the completed form as a PDF instead of simply mailing the raw data.

  • Acrobat reader hangs opening pdf created with autocad

    Hi all,
when I try to open a pdf file created with autocad, Acrobat Reader hangs and I can't do anything else then kill the process. Now I use Acrobat Reader 9.5.5. I've insatlled also Acrobat Reader XI, but the problem persists. It seems it is very slow to process the file. If file has few graphics after some minutes I can see it and zoom in, but if file is has a lot of graphics, acrobat hangs. Any suggestions?

    Hi Robert,
I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused & will try my best to get this issue resolved.
I will recommend you to upgrade your Adobe reader to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on your Samsung Note 3 mobile phone and then try to view the pdf files. You can download it for free from the Google app. store or you can refer to this link Acrobat Reader DC Learn & Support.
Let me know if you still experience the same issue.

  • Acrobat Reader X stores PDFs in Temp-folder even when HTTP-headers say no-cache no-store

After updating from Acrobat Reader 9 to 10 we have noticed that PDFs viewed in the browser are left behind in the Temp-folder even after the browser has been closed.
Http-headers in the response from the server
    Cache-Controls: no-cache,no-store,max-age=0,post-check=0,pre-check=0
    Content-Type: application/pdf
    Content-Disposition: inline; filename="xxxxxxxx.pdf"
    Expires: 0
    Pragma: no-cache
    Folder: [User-folder]\AppData\Local\Temp
    Filename-format: PDFxxx.tmp
    Browsers: Firefox 3.6, Opera 11, Safari 5
    Plugin: Acrobat Reader 10
Simply add a .pdf extension to the file and open again in Acrobat Reader. Since the server has set headers indicating that this PDF should not be stored locally, it is a severe security hole leaving traces of this PDF on the filesystem.
Is this a problem Adobe is aware of? When can we expect this to be fixed?
    Regards,
    Gustav

    Hi Michael,
Thank you for you quick response!
In Acrobat 9, I cannot find the PDFs in the Temp-folder after the browser has been closed.
In Acrobat 10, PDFs are left behind in the Temp-folder even after browser close.
To me, this looks like a bug in Acrobat 10. Would you not agree?

  • In Acrobat reader X -default saving location do not funcion.

In previous versions of Acrobat reader the application would remember where I usually save my files and would by default suggest the same location next time I attempted to save a document.
For employees that recieve hundreds of pdf.attachemts that needs to be saved its is huge effort to keep browsing to the folder of prefrens. This will be especially time requiring with a huge file structure that we normally have in companies.
If pfd attachments are openned trough outlook for example upon trying to save them adobeb suggests to save it in a outlook cash folder under internet temporary map.
This problem started with the latest version of Adobe and was not an issue with the ninth version. The X version always suggest to save the file to where it was oppened from and does not remember where I usually save my files.
    My question is:
Are you awear of this problem?`
Will there be a update with fix for this?
I have seen many asking the same question here but it has been remained unanswered.
    Thankful for anykind of feedback.

    This circumstance annoys me, too.
I already looked into the registry but couldn't find a matching key to edit this adjustment.
Is there any way to get rid of that and to recover the old behaviour?
    Would be very appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Acrobat 7.0 Pro pdf printer does not populate? Error says printer port.

I got a new computer and was installing Creative Suite & Acrobat pro and the Adobe PDF printer does not show up in the Printers. I downloaded the upgrade and Windows says it cannot install.
I am running Windows 7 Pro

Two parts of AA 7 will not install on Win 7 (32 or 64-bit): the Adobe PDF printer and AcroTray.exe. You can install a separate color PS printer (either one from Adobe or possibly one for an HP color PS printer), change the name to Adobe PDF and change the port to FILE. That should do the job, but you will ALWAYS have an extra step in the creation of a PDF. You will have to print to the printer and a PS file will be created (probably with a PRN extension). You then have to open that file in Distiller to create a PDF. From my brief testing, this process will work and the rest of Acrobat and Distiller seem to work (though I did not test extensively). If this is unacceptable to you, then purchase AA XI (upgrade not available from AA 7).

  • How to extend features in Acrobat Reader for Livecycle pdfs

Have a PDF I created wit
h Livecycle.  I'm trying to extend features in Acrobat Reader so that the form will be fillable with acrobat reader but that option is not ena
bled?  Anyone know where the magic button for this is?

I already done this three times and 'extend features in Acrobat REader' is still disabled.
I'm using Livecycle ES and Acrobat Pro 9.  When I 'save as' in Livecycle my only option is 'Acrobat (static) PDF Form', and when I open the PDF document in acrobat pro I get a blue-bar that says i am viewing the document in PDF/A mode.  Does any of that raise any "red flags"?

  • Server sizing for multi-client Acrobat Reader access of .pdf files

I am trying to specify the appropriate file server (need processor rating & memory size)running Windows 2008 for 64 high tempo users on a LAN accessing large .pdf files (~20 mb each) using Acrobat Reader 8 or 9. Total data package size is about 30 Gig. LAN is Gigabit speed on CAT 6 cable.
    Suggestions?

Time is 10:35 PM, Jan 30, 2014 after a day of nerve racking attempts to get Adobe Reader 11.0.6 to open a pdf file I have finally succeeded in doing so.  The following apkhan response to my original inquiry, even though it didn't directly help me much, but it gave me an insight that what I was inquiring about in the description of my problem had to do something with the EULA I was inquiring about and couldn't find were and how that is to be done.  For whatever reason I had installed Reader 11.0.6 three times throughout the day and still couldn't read a pdf file or see the EULA to agree to it or not.  During another installation of Reader 11.0.6 at 9:00PM, 1-30-14, a window appeared and required my administrative password to install the software and rightly so.  This is probably the reason why Reader was  so dysfunctional, because for whatever reason, this approval window didn't appear during the initial installations but I was allowed to install Reader anyways and the proof of it was it did end up in my Applications Folder-confusing and strange at best.  Without my administrative password the software should not have been allowed to be installed and this has always been the case. I will have to dwell upon that one for a while.  Anyway, for everyones information, the Mac version of 11.0.6 Adobe Reader doesn't ask for you to click a button to Agree or Not Agree to an EULA verbiage statement.  Just above the INSTALL BUTTON (Yellow Background)  on the installation window the instructions notes, when you hit the install button you aromatically agree to the EULA and the way you go.  I tried getting into the EULA via the Adobe the desktop Icon but to no avail.  Hopes this helps someone else.  Thanks to those at the Adobe Community that tried to help me with this mind boggling episode.

  • Acrobat Reader 7 and PDF 1.8

    Hi,
Does anyone know whether Acrobat Reader version 7 can read all PDF 1.8 documents (that is, documents created using Acrobat 9)?
    Thank you.

If you are creating the PDF and worried about that issue, them make the PDF AA7 compatible as you create it and it will not be a problem.

  • Acrobat reader works OK on E61i but not on E61????

    Hi,
I own a nokia E61. One of the features i've always look for in a phone is the hability to read pdf files so i bought myself a nokia E61. For my surprise when i tried to read pdf files larger than 1 MB (eg 2 MB) in E61 (and even in n73 i own as well) i receive the following messages: "Operation failed!" then "Not enough memory!"
For my surprise, even though the technical specifications are the same, i tried to do the same in a friend's E61i and it worked perfectly!!! it could read larger files with acrobat reader!!!!
We are both using acrobat reader LE 1.5
I tried storing the pdf files in phone's memory and in SD but the problem remains.
Are there any tips to make acrobat reader to work in my E61???? is really important for me
    Thanks in advance

Thanks to you all for your opinions. I made a extreme test. I deleted EVERY application installed on phone's memory, then i installed the applications on my SD card (512MB). After this move i'm still getting tha same error. The phone's free memory is around 60MB.
I installed the last firmware 3.0633.09.04. My SD is a 512MB Kingstone. Acrobat reader 1.5 LE is now installed on SD.
As i'm very frustrated with this application i choosed to BUY PDF+. It actually WORKS perfectly!!!. Maybe NOKIA should think about adding this application instead of Acrobat Reader.
    Thanks in advance

  • Embedding Acrobat Reader (or other PDF Display) in OA Page

Hi, I have a scenario where I want the user to view a PDF in part of the page while they are keying in information on form fields in the rest of the page. Is something like this possible? I thought it might be possible to embed the Acrobat reader in an iFrame but I'm not sure what kind of support OA pages offer for that.
Also, if this is not possible, what about rendering the first page of the PDF to an image (TIFF or JPG) using PDF libraries and displaying that? Has anyone played with this?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
You can embed the PDF document inside the HTML o use and Inner Frame to render the PDF. Please check some examples (and explanation) in the following address:

    Hope this help,

  • How to "Print to PDF" with property "Signing: Allowed"

Print to PDF generates a file with the security document property "Signing: Not Allowed". These Properties are only visible in Acrobar reader -> File -> Properties; you can't see these in Preview.
Is there a way to change Mac OS X Print to PDF, that it generats PDFs with "Signing Allowed"?

    Thomac:
After further review I discovered that it isn't the PDFs you are creating that has the problem, it is the limitations of Adobe Acrobat Reader to perform the ability to do the functions of Document Assembly, Commenting, Signing and Create Templates. If you had Acrobat Professional and opened your PDFs and checked the properties, you would discover that all these would be allowed.
Initially, I was looking at my test files with Acrobat Professional. But, when I opened the same PDF with Reader on a different machine, I was getting the same summary as well.
Adobe Reader is just that: a READER.
You can feel safe that your PDFs allow signing.
