Acrobat Reader 9.1 and Internet Explorer Browser
I can't open pdf docs using MS Browser. I can open saved pdf docs on my PC with Acrobat Reader 9.1..
I'm using Windows Vista.
All Adobe Add Ons are activated under Browser Add Ons in Internet Explorer settings.
Steps
1 Trying to open a pdf with Microsoft Explorer returns the error "You need Acrobat Reader 8 or 9"
2 Download current version of Adobe Reader ==> failed - could not be installed
3 Starting AdbeRdr910_de_DE.exe
4 Run the software Adobe Reader 9.0 ==> Yes
5 Adobe Reader 9.1 - German runs
6 Select Repair option
7 Install ==> does take some seconds ==> Finish
8 Chosen pdf-file is displayed properly in web browser !!!
9 Shuting all windows down
10 Trying to open same pdf with MS browser (step 1) again, I receive the same error "You need Acrobat Reader 8 or 9"
What's the solution for this ?
Thanks

Adobe Reader 9.1 and Internet Explorer 8.0 pdf link crash
I have three PC's running XP Pro SP3, with Adobe Reader 9.1.
On one of these systems, pdf files can be loaded, but when I click on pdf links in web pages, the browser crashes.
If someone could please help me by defining what further information might be helpful in troubleshooting this, I'd be most appreciative. A definite clue is probably provided by this comment in application event viewer:
Faulting application iexplore.exe version 8.0.6001.18702 faulting module acrord32.dll, version 9.1.0.163, fault address 0x000d51b6
Thanks so much for any help!
PeterI actually backed out Adobe 9 and installed Adobe 8 and that resolved my issue of IE crashing when trying to open an Adobe file.
I tried everything before doing this. From backing out IE 8 to 7 and just reinstalling Adobe 9 and continued to have the same problem. -

When I download Adobe Reader it takes over my Internet Explorer Browser and other browsers.
When I download Adobe Reader on my Windows 7, it takes over my Microsoft Internet Explorer Browser and any browser I use. Is there anyway to correct this problem without re-installing Windows 7 on my computer?
Not exactly sure what is going on, but perhaps https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/application-file-icons-change-acrobat.html ?

How do I set Adobe reader X as the default viewer in Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7
How do I set Adobe reader X as the default viewer in Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7 ?
You can check the following settings: Edit -> Preferences -> Internet -> Web browser options
It should set Adobe Reader as a default viewer in the Internet Explorer -
An email will have a "Click here" link and when I click it goes to a internet explorer browsing, not a firefox browser
That is is always a problem when you are using multiple profiles and Firefox isn't running.
It might work if no profile is selected (i.e. marked as Default=1 in profiles.ini).<br />
You can use desktop shortcut that open with a specific profile (-P "profile").<br />
There is also a setting in the Profile Manager (Don't ask at startup). -
Has anyone seen the following on their WP?

OKThis sounds like a virus or malware program that has made its way onto your computer. I would ensure you have the latest virus definitions on your computer and run a thorough (complete) scan of your system. If this doesn't work, I would suggest you use Microsoft's Malware Removal Tool. You can download it at the link below. Hope this helps.

When the Internet Explorer browser window is obscured Stage.width and Stage.height never return the proper sizes until/unless the IE window is unobscured long enough for the player to feel it needs to render initially. This was preventing our preloader from completing, since we were waiting for a non-0 Stage size. What is the best security/protection program (McAfee/Symantec/Norton/other) for my Dell PC which has Windows XP. I prefer Mozilla Firefox as my browser, but also use Internet Explorer. I just want to know if Mozilla Firefox has identified an ideal product to detect and destroy spam, worms, add-ons -- eliminate security threats of all kinds... AND is tolerated by BOTH Mozilla Firefox AND Internet Explorer.

Problem with ExternalInterface.call and Internet Explorer
Hi, I´m developing a site, (
www.gen-studio.com/avelart2
), and I´m using a swf to display a set of thumbs that when
clicked show an item and its description on the browser, those
items might be images or video, everything works fine with the
images.
And actually it works fine with the videos too, when using
Firefox, but when I test the page on Internet explorer it just
doesn’t work!
On principle let me describe how it´s supposed to work,
a thumbnail when clicked sends an id number to javaScript using
ExternalInterface.call(“myFunction”,myId); -I´m
using AS3 for the swf´s-
the javaScript file has already loaded (ever since$(
document).ready) a XML file which uses to match the id with a file
and the description, if the item to show it´s a video, then it
creates a variable which holds a string with the proper html to
embed a swf (a swf movie player that resides just next to the HTML
file), when loaded, the swf movie player uses
ExternalInterface.call() to ask for the source of the video that
has to play, and that function is as follows:
setVideo: function(){
alert("hola");
return comun.miVideo;
(The alert(“hola”); is just to test that the
function is being called), which it is, but it returns null as a
value instead of the proper string, and this happens only on
internet Explorer, but works correctly on Firefox.
I´ve been reading all day about the subject and found a
few interesting things, which though have made me narrow my
problem, they haven´t just provided me with a solution, what I
found so far:
-I must have in account flash security issues: Checked (my
actionScript follows:)
import fl.video.*;
import flash.external.ExternalInterface;
flash.system.Security.allowDomain("*");
var vid:FLVPlayback = this.miPlayer;
vid.source =
flash.external.ExternalInterface.call("comun.setVideo");
-ExternalInterface and Internet explorer don´t work
properly when tested locally: Checked (I have a server on my PC and
I´m testing the site as well in the above direction).
-The object tag holding the swf must have a proper id
attribute: Checked.
-It´s super important the way the object tag is formed:
Checked, and I also tested the tag separately (I put it directly in
the HTML instead of adding it via javaScript) and it worked as
expected in both Firefox and Internet Explorer, which leads me to
believe:
-I read somewhere that if you add the object tag by using
innerHTML or appendChild, returning values from javaScript to swf
won´t work, but I couldn´t find an explanation nor a
solution.
Well, as I said now I´ve been looking all day for an
answer, so I really hope you can help me or give me some advice on
the subject, thank you so much for your time!Hi! it solved itself !! (nahh, I wish), but it indeed had a
solution, it was something quite simple, and I don´t really
understand why it was not working in the first place, but here is
the thing:
I´m learning jquery and this is the first proyect
I´m officially using it, so I was using
$('#myDIV').append("string"); to embed the swf, (and it was working
perfectly on Firefox), so since I had narrowed my problem to those
lines, I decided to try some good-old-fashioned-javaScript and
changed it for: var myDiv =
document.getElementById('thatParticularDiv'); myDiv.innerHTML =
('string'); and it worked both in Firefox and IE !!!!!! :)
I´m quite happy about it, and if someone knows
what´s the issue with my jquery approach I would love to hear
it. THANKS !! -
Swf link not working in Firefox, Opera and Internet Explorer but works in Safari
Hi,
I'm sorry but Im a real newbie and really need help!!!
On the homepage of my website I have put a swf file that I linked to another page in my website through the div a href link and it displays great on safari and links, however in other browsers, when i try to click on it, it comes up with the link at the bottom of the browser (where it sometimes says Done), however it doesnt actually link, it jsut stays on the homepage.
Here is the coding i put in:
<div id="products2">
<p>
<a href="Our_brands/index.html">
<script type="text/javascript">
AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,28,0','wid th','449','height','449','title','Products','src','Productions/boxes3','quality','high','p luginspage','http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=Shockwav eFlash','movie','Productions/boxes3' ); //end AC code
</script>
<noscript>
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,28,0" width="449" height="449" title="Products">
<param name="movie" value="Our_brands/boxesnew.swf" />
<param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="SCALE" value="noborder" />
<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"/>
<embed src="Our_brands/boxesnew.swf" width="449" height="449" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowScriptAccess="always" scale="noborder"></embed>
<br />
<br />
</object>
</noscript>
</a>
</p>
</div>
Could someone please tell me where I am going wrong?
I would REALLY appreciate it.
Thank you in advance!!I'm doing it for a client and they dont want it put up on the server yet, I wish I could put it up bc I have no idea what I'm doing!
Basically I wanted a swf file from Flash to display a range of products (I have turned all the products into buttons) and then I put coding into all the buttons to on release getURL which work in the swf file, however when I put the swf file into dreamweaver, the buttons worked in hover state, but the action scripting didn't work to link the swf file to another page in the website (the index in Our_brands folder).
So i decided to make it link to the index.html in Our_brands folder from wrapping the swf box in a div tag and linking the div tag <a href="Our_brands/index.html"> which links it great in Safari but wont link in Firefox, Opera and Internet Explorer.
Does that make any sense?
Sorry if it doesn't.
Thanks for the quick reply as well!!! -
SWF Object and Internet Explorer
I am experiencing some strange behavior with a SWF Im including in the following web page:
http://www.bostonredevelopmentauthority.org/
The SWF displays properly on the first page visit in both Internet Explorer and Firefox. If I navigate away to a child page, then back with the back button in the browser, the SWF no longer displays in IE. Firefox does not exhibit this behavior.
Any ideas what might be going on here?
Thanks,

I'm looking For Mac Version intel Base Internet Explorer Browser
I need to Download the Internet Explorer browser so that I can use it to open a web Page from Staples to fill out a Job application Form, Safari and FireFox doesn't support that web page from staples. I am having a Hard time finding the right web site to download Internet Explorer, Does anyone know where I can download a Mac Version Intel Base Internet Explorer version?
Mrs. Trisha FosterTry changing the User Agent in Safari - enable the Debug menu.
Most web sites, you can tell them how to identify your browser as something other than what it is, just have to log out or reload.
Also, 98% will work with Opera which emulates IE quite well, but not always (I found 2 out of 2000 sites that would not). Another browser to look at: OmniWeb, Camino. I use Firefox 3.1a "TraceMonkey", OmniWeb, Opera (each has its own uses).
IE 5.2.3, I tried it, and it was terrible. It is old, and doesn't support any of today's web sites.
Otherwise, you are faced with running CrossOver Mac, or Windows in Fusion or Parallels, or installing on BootCamp.

There may be a Firefox extension to enable IE features perhaps? -
I use Intuit to maintain a website. After I update the website, Firefox continues to display the previous version while the revised version is displayed on Internet Explorer. I have tried using both Firefox and Internet Explorer when I revise the website, but that does not appear to make any difference. The version on Firefox usually updates to the new version with in a day or two, but the change on Internet Explorer is immediate.
Try clearing your browser cache.
Tools > Clear Recent History... - hit Details and make sure only Cache is selected, then select Everything and hit the Clear Now button.
