Acrobat Reader 9.5.1-1, Linux, 32-bit is creating "C:\nppdf32Log\debuglog.txt" files in $HOME

Acrobat Reader 9.5.1-1, Linux, 32-bit is creating a file named: "C:\nppdf32Log\debuglog.txt"
in the users home directory whenever a PDF document is opened from within a browser.
Browser is configured to use Reader plugin "nppdf.so"
Is there anyway to turn this off?
We are using:
SLES11 (SuSE Linux Enterprise Server v11.1); 32bit version.
Firefox v10.0.0.4esr
Adobe Reader v 9.5.1-1

Here are few solutions:
1. You can configure firefox to open pdf in external application like acroread. This way plugin problem is bypassed. - I use it this way. It looks to be faster this way.
2. "C:\nppdf32Log\debuglog.txt" is created every time in directory from where you executed firefox/opera/other browser and opened any pdf file in browser. So this is not only home directory. You can fix this problem by yourself by hex editing nppdf.so file and replacing C:\nppdf32Log\debuglog.txt path in this file with /dev/null path. • Color saturation problem in Acrobat Reader 7.0.9 under Linux

    Hi,
I'm working with a guy who is producing PDFs of my work with Indesign.
Using acrobat reader under Linux (version 7.0.1 and also 7.0.9), the colours in these PDFs always appear very saturated. This is a big problem for me because I cannot see with the reference viewer the results of PDFs to be sent to print.
I tried the same pdf file under OS X & Windows, it appears OK with Acrobat reader. Other free pdf readers under Linux also show the right colours (but not always the transparency ;-).
Does anybody has an idea to help me?
@Adobe people: in case you want to test, I drop a copy of my PDF file at: http://cardot.net/files/pdfcolours.pdf (2.24 MB)
    Thanks in advance
    Jean-Christophe Cardot

We are able to reproduce color saturation problem at our end. We have noted down and will work on this.
    Thanks.

  • AIR, Acrobat/Reader XI 11.0.06 - There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found

    Hi,
After Adobe Reader and Acrobat updated to v11.0.06 I've started getting the following error message when I try to load PDF file into my AIR application on Windows (Vista and 7) machines: "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found."
I'm loading PDF just like it's been described in Flex/AIR documentation. HTMLLoader loads html that looks like: <html><body><object id="PDFObj" data="app:/pdfs/test.pdf" type="application/pdf" width="100%" height="100%"></object></body></html>
The file is in place and I've tried opening it from the Reader itself without any errors. When I uninstall Reader XI and install Reader X instead everything comes back to normal and the file is opened without an error.
What was changed in the Acrobat/Reader 11.0.06 that it prevents PDFs from being opened from AIR application? Or was it changed even before 11.0.06?
    Kind regards,
    Roman

Fyi, in addition to my earlier post, the other pc is using Adobe 8.1.1 and no other patch. I was trying to find 8.1.1 version but could not find a trust worthy site to load from. Do you think the error caused by using the 8.1.2 version? Thanks

  • After I updated to Firefox 5.0, I can't view pdf in this browser any more(Windows). I tried to install a new version (10.1) of Acrobat reader but it still doesnot work. When I clicked a link of pdf file, only can I get is a blank screen.

    as title

A workaround is to open PDFs in the application rather than the plugin. If you open tools -> options then for all the acrobat pdf options select acrobat (default) rather than acrobat (in browser) it will download and open the PDFs.

  • How to Print a PDF file and Close the ACrobat Reader opened using WEBUTIL

    Hi All,
I have used WEBUTIL successfully and printed files using webutil_host.nonblocking builtin. What happens is that after printing the file the Acrobat reader stays on the desktop of the client PC. How to close that file opened programmatically. I am unable to close it using any any commands or using following builtins from WEBUTIL.
      WEBUTIL_HOST.RELEASE_PROCESS(PROCESS_ID)
WEBUTIL_HOST.TERMINATE_PROCESS(PROCESS_ID);My command to directly call the Acrobat reader file and print it is by using this command.
      M_STR_COMMAND    := 'cmd.exe /c start AcroRd32.exe /t '||CHR(34)||FILE_STR_PATH||'\'||FILE_NAME||CHR(34)||' '||CHR(34)||PRINTER_NAME||CHR(34);Help in this regard is much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

I think if you use the start-command, the execution is asynchronously and you won't get the correct process-id. Try to execute Acorbat directly without the cmd /c start in front of it.

  • How can I read pdf files from LabVIEW with different versions of Acrobat reader?

How can I read pdf files from LabVIEW with different versions of Acrobat reader?
I have made a LabVIEW program where I have possibility to read a PDF document.  When I made this LabVIEW program it was Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 that was installed on the PC. Lather when the Acrobat Reader was upgraded to version 6.0, there was an error when VI tries to launch the LabVIEW program. And Later again when we upgraded to Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 I must again do some changes and rebuild the EXE files again
It isn't so very big job to do the changes in one single LabVIEW program, but we have built a lot of LabVIEW programs so this take time to due changes every time vi update Acrobat Reader. (We have build EXE files.)
The job is to right click the ActiveX container and Click "Insert ActiveX Object", then I can brows the computer for the new version of acrobat Reader. After this I must rebuild all the "methods" in the Activex call to make the VI executable again.
Is there a way to build LabVIEW program so I don't have to do this job every time we update Acrobat Reader?
This LabVIEW program is written in LabVIEW 6.1, but I se the problem is the same in LabVIEW 8.2.

  • There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again.

We have Adobe Reader 8.1.3 set to open in the browser.
We are trying to open PDF files within IE Browser. While opening multiple documents in the IE Browser, we get "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again." error, once we click on the "OK" button, PDF file opens in the Adobe reader. This happens randomly while some files open up in IE Browser and some files get the above mentioned error message and open in the Adobe Reader.
We need to open all the PDF files in the IE Browser. Any input is greatly appreciated.

    I may be better off without the tool bar, but I have found anohter solution;
    .  Open Adobe Reader,
                go to edit menu,
                under Preferences
go to Internet, uncheck "Display pdf in browser"
The pdf files then open, but not in the browser

  • PDF Documents compatible with Acrobat Reader 5.0

Which version (Standard, Pro or Ext Pro) of Adobe Acrobat 9.0  family should I buy to create PDF documents compatible with Acrobat Reader 5.0 ????
Is it possible to create PDF files from HTML and navigate through the links ????
    Thank you.

    Thank you for your answer.
Related to my first question (compatibility with Acrobat Reader 5.0), how should I save the PDF created ????  Saving the PDF in Acrobat Pro 9.0 with standard save option makes the document not readable by Acrobat Reader 5.0.
Should I save the document as PDF/A, PDF/X or any other subset ?????  If so, I'm not sure if they are included in the Standard.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Pdf with audio files embedded - Acrobat Pro 8 vs Acrobat Reader XI - suggestions?

Hi, I have a problem with a pdf (containing embedded audio files) created with Acrobat Pro 8.
    So, two questions for you.
    1) When I open it with Acrobat Reader XI, the audio files won't be reproduced.
Windows 7 and 8 tell me that there is a codec problem.
Finding the right codec seems to be very hard (looking on the previous threads in this forum I found some links to websites offering codec packs, but when you download them it seem they start offering many other things to download, and this stresses a lot).
    Any other suggestions?
    2) The other question is kind of reverse of the first one: if I create a pdf with Acrobat XI, will an Acrobat Reader 8 or 9 be able to open it and listend to the audio files???
    Thank you,
    aliB

    Dear Pat,
I try to write it again.
Unfortunately installing Flash doesn't solve the problem on Windows 7 and 8 (on the XP it works).
    Kind regards

  • Problem reopening and/or refreshing PDF files using Acrobat Reader V. 8.0

I upgraded to Adobe Acrobat Reader V. 8.0 and have encountered problems refreshing PDF files in the Safari 2.0.4 browser when I am logged into the secure area for Value Line Publishing. Some of the PDF Files in this area can be opened and/or refreshed multiple times. Other PDF files in this area allow me to open them once. I cannot reopen those previously viewed files (or refresh the screen) -- after refreshing, the window changes to a blank white screen, and the files do not reopen.
I am perplexed because I do not have difficulty refreshing the PDF files (within Safari) using the native PDF viewer, I did not have problems refreshing files using Acrobat Reader V. 7.0 and I do not appear to have problems refreshing PDF files using Acrobat Reader V. 8.0 when I am outside the secure area or on other web sites.
I have replaced the Acrobat Reader plug-in, manually removed all remnants of previous versions of Acrobat Reader and reinstalled V. 8.0. and I also upgraded from Mac OS 10.4.8 to 10.4 9, all to no avail.
I can clear the Safari cache files as a temporary solution, but I encounter the same difficulties with the “problematic” files once they have been opened again.
I can also download the PDF files to my hard drive and refresh them multiple times within Safari and also using Acrobat Reader V. 8.0
The software personnel at Value Line Publishing have investigated their system and have referred me back to Apple. Has anyone heard of similar problems associated with Adobe Acrobat Reader V. 8.0 used in conjunction with Safari 2.0.4?
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi Rodney
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
This sounds like one of those "oddities", contributed to by a few sources.
I can clear the Safari cache files as a temporary solution, but I encounter the same difficulties with the “problematic” files once they have been opened again.
Wondering if you disabled the Safari Cache would the refresh function work correctly? As a test you can disable the Safari Cache by Emptying the Cache first via the Safari menu, then Quit Safari. Now go to the Finder>Your User Library>Caches>Safari. Single click on the Safari folder, then Apple Key + I to open Info panel. There, check the "locked" box. This prevents further additions to the cache. The downside, you lose your ability to upload images etc. within Safari (my cache is disabled, so I use Firefox for the uploads).
Then restart Safari. Try the PDF from within Safari.

How do I get Acrobat XI pro on a Mac to work fully, and not just act like Acrobat Reader. i just paid and downloaded it, entered new serial number when requested, but when I open a .pdf I have no pro features showing (such as editing tools, convert to powerpoint, etc). I use XI pro on a windows PC and have no problem there.

Perfect answer. And I feel a bit dumb (should have worked it out, but still finding my way round the Mac). Many thansk for the help.

  • Save editable form into regular PDF document using Acrobat Reader

    Hello,
With Adobe Pro, I've created a PDF form using the following:
    Save As Other...
    Reader Extended PDF
Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)...
Once saved, I am sending this form to colleagues for them to fill out.  These colleagues only have access to Acrobat Reader.
What I'm hoping to do is to have them save the file into a regular PDF document with the info inserted in the form but without the option to change the form info (change from editable form to regular PDF file).
    Thanks for your help.

Hrm, OK. Well I actually DON'T have my document set as a reader extended PDF. If i fill out my fields then try to use the sign feature, it's not flattening the fields when I save/close reopen. They are still editable.
Just as a test, I saved it as reader extended and the sign feature is grayed out as you stated it should be. I am using acrobat X to create my fields and using reader XI to test inputting data/saving.
I need users to be able to fill it out, save then send and the recipient NOT be able to modify the fields. Am I missing something with the sign feature?
    Thanks again for the reply!

  • There is no save icon in acrobat reader 9

hi i am running acrobat reader 9.2 on windows vista 64 bit ultimate edition. i recently had installed adobetechnical communication suite but it did not work and i had to remove it. after i did that the floppy disk icon disappeared from the tool bar in reader. i have tried re installing it but it still will not show it. i deal with very large pdf files and it is not cost efective to print them out. i only have three options, print, share or create. there is no save icon that i could find. other people in this office running the same version of software have the little floppy icon while looking at the same document i do not. what do i need to do to be able to save online pdf files to my pc.

Truthfuly, I didn't think there was, but it seemed worth a shot.
Is the missing Attendee List pod happening just in this room, or is it in multiple rooms?
If it is just this room, I'd recommend that you delete (after moving any recordings and desired content to the Content library) the room and recreate it to see if that resolves the issue.

  • Commenting with Acrobat Reader 9

We're trying to create PDFs that our clients can notate comments on and send back to us for routing purposes.
Our problems relate specifically to Acrobat Reader 9. Weve tried creating PDFs from InDesign and from a web browser (for our web jobs), but when the recipient opens the PDFs in Acrobat Reader 9 theyre unable to add comments to them, and we cant figure out why.
Can you tell me how to make comments on a PDF using Acrobat Reader 9?? We use Mac OSX to create the PDFs and all of our clients are on Windows XP to do commenting.
    Thanks!

    Hey graffiti-
    Thanks for the response!
We figured out how to get it to work but the method you described wouldn't do it for us. When I opened the PDF in pro and enabled it for commenting in reader like you suggested, our tester using Acrobat Reader 9 still couldnt make comments.
The only way I could get the document to be accessible in Reader was to open the PDF in pro, choose attach for email review from the COMMENTING menu, and then on step 2 of the process (where you add your email addresses for recipients) cilck on the button to customize review options and make sure the checkbox for allow Acrobat Reader users to comment.
Not sure why it wouldnt work the way you outlined... Certainly seems logical that that your method should work also.
