Hello AKA_TG,
There are manuals installed on your PC. You can find them at
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\manuals
Hope this helps.
But of course these do not include anything like a complete set of manuals like in the 'old' days'. The only included manuals of much help to a beginner are the getting started and quick reference manuals.
AKA_TG,
If you want a hardcopy, your only real option is to do a print of the LabVIEW Help. I have not done a print in a long while. What I tend to do is look at the release and upgrade notes to see what has changed and then look it up in the Help. I'll also open any new examples with Context Help turned on.

Cant generate my help file into .pdf format
Hi All
I cant't generate my help file into .pdf format for printed documentation. My .pdf option is not enabled. How do I get it enabled? I am on version 8.
I am following the instructions in help.
thanks
CarynPeter,
Please find my comments inline:
If I understand you coIf I understand you correctly, any of the Acrobat 8 or greater versions can generate a PDF with the comments feature. Correct please?
Absolutely!
That means that one person must have a paid for version of Acrobat, ommenting cannot be initiated by users of Acrobat Reader, the latter only enables you to comment on a PDF that has been created in a paid for version. Correct please
Yes, the commenting has to be inititated or rather the person with the paid version installed has to assign rights to the reviewers. Only then the assigned persons will receive emails in their inboxes that the document is set for review.

Help files in PDF format ?
Until recently, it was possible to download the help files in PDF format, which was very useful when off line.
It seems that all links to the Adobe download sites have been broken ?They are still available.

How can we create a plugin for Acrobat reader to convert a Pdf to Excel format?
Hi all,
I need to convert a pdf to excel format ! is it possible by a plugin in acrobat reader.
I know that it can be done with Acrobat Professional and i have to do the same with the Acrobat Reader?
Does the Acrobat Reader support file conversion plugins?
Sreejesh K VHi,
I don't know if Reader supports the onversion but you can easily check that : open an Excel file with Reader and check the result.
With Acrobat Pro when you open a document using Acrobat then it's automatically converted. If this functionality is supported with Reader you will have the same behavior.
Once it's supported you just have to open your document using Acrobat.exe (or Reader.Exe)
My mistake I understood the opposite. To check that Acrobat Reader support the conversion you just have to check in the Reader interface.

Acrobat reader .sequ files - wondrous apparition
Dear Mac lovers,
within my Documents folder, misterious files in several languages appeared, all with an .sequ extension. Info says they are Acrobat Reader sequence files. I have no idea why they appeared.
I removed them into a separate folder and -boing- they are back again at the next start.
Has anybody any idea how to get rid of them?
I did not find anything in the FAQ site nor within Acrobat Reader preferences.
Thank you very much.
Norbert
MacBook Pro 2.16, PowerBook G4 500 MHz, PowerMacs G5 2x2.3 and G4 2x500, SE/30, Mac OS X (10.4.6)Checking the Event Viewer is good advice.
I had Error 1606.Could not access network location, and a web search led me to this advice to remove old registry entries for MS Office:

Makes no sense but there you have it. -
Our users have scanned pdf files they want to be able to search using ctrl-f. I got them to be searchable by doing a recognize text using ocr with Acrobat Professional vesion 8. They want to know if they can make the files searchable with Acrobat Reader only or if they need the full Acrobat Professional software to make the files searchable.
Thanks for the help!!
Ken K. - 2191To clarify a bit they need to have Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Reader. Reader has not been associated with the Acrobat name for 3 or more versions. The process you are asking about is a creation process - the purpose of Acrobat - and NOT a reading feature.

Why Acrobat Reader doesn't open pdf-files from Safari?
I'm new Mac user and cannot find answer why I cannot open pdf-files directly from Safari. My Macbook OS X 10.9.3 and Safari is 7.0.4. Only way to open pdf-files is to download the content first and then open it. If I try to open it directly Acrobat says "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the end user license agreement". I have downloaded Acrobat Reader several times already and cannot understand what I'm doing wrong.
Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
Allow Plug-ins
Then click
Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari. -
Acrobat Reader is the default program for all variants of pdf files, both in Windows 7 and in Firefox.
So you have a trial version of Acrobat (that is not activated) installed? If so, uninstall it.
Do you also have Adobe Reader installed? If so, you need to open it once and accept the EULA. -
Acrobat Reader closes after opening PDF from an app-v
So we have a problem with reader version 10.1.0.534. In our company we have most applicaties packaged as an app-v take firefox as an example. Now when we try to open a pdf document from firefox Acrobat Reader opens for a second and then closes again right away. Reader itself is installed on Windows 7 x64 (so reader is not packaged with app-v)
We also have this problem with some business applicaties. Is this a known issue for this Reader version? upgrading reader is a big thing (large company) so if there is a fix in the settings it would help us greatly.Hi Ronnie,
I am not able to reproduce the exact issue. Sequenced the latest build of Firefox on a system already having Reader 10.1.4, so that the reader plugins gets registered. On the sequencer the PDF is opening up in Firefox. The firefox package is then installed on a client system having Reader 10.1.4. When I open any PDF in firefox on the client, I always get the SaveAs dialog.
How are you sequencing Firefox. Are you making any customizations so that browser extensions work well. In this case browser is working within the virtual environment and might not be able to talk to local Reader. -
Acrobat reader not viewing the PDF with dotted lines
Hi, We are using Acrobat Reader Version 10. In that version, if we open the PDF which has figures with dotted lines. It is showing as solid lines. We checked the other versions of Acrobat Reader and the same problem persists in the versions 8, 9 and 11. But the dotted lines are visible only in the Acrobat Reader Version 7. The PDF was created by client in "powerpoint" using "Acrobat PDFMaker". There is no provision to attached the PDF in this forum. Any body who came across the issues, please advice. Shaji

I am evaluating RoboHelp as a possible way to create help
files (probably will end up being .CHM files). We'd like to be able
to go from the files used for our printed documentation, which are
generated using LaTeX and output as PDF files. We use LaTeX to
create the PDF files because there are a lot of math symbols in the
docs that no other program seems to handle as well, and I don't
know if RoboHelp will be able to do the job without a lot of manual
cleanup--I've tried a few other programs and the results were not
pretty. Anyone else had success using RoboHelp for their help files
doing something similar?Welcome to the forum.
For anything like this I would strongly recommend that you
download the trial version. It is a very simple matter to create a
project and import a PDF to see whether the result is what you
want. -
Acrobat reader XI cannot open pdfs from IE9
My pc has IE9, windows 7. After I installed Acrobat reader XI, I can no longer open pdfs from a secure website. Can anyone help?
"Internal Error Occurred" appears when .pdf is opened from Outlook 2010 email
I am absolutely pulling out my hair over this one!!
PC/Win 7 64bit/Adobe XI/Office 2010
I have tried Uninstalling and re-installing
I have tried using an adobe software removal tool
I have tried modifying the security settings in reader
I've tried running repair on MS Office
If you open the .pdf from an email directly, it opens Reader with the error "Internal Error Occurred"
If you drag and drop the .pdf onto the desktop, and then open it, it opens.
If you open Adobe Reader FIRST, then open the .pdf from the email, it opens fine.
ONLY when you open a .pdf from an email with Adobe Reader closed (so Outlook is asking AR to open first, and then present the .pdf) is it behaving this way.
Hypothesis: Outlook 2010 does not like to open Adobe Reader.
SO....tell me all of you brilliant geniuses? How do I solve this puzzle and become an end user's hero? -
Using RoboHTML x3, I set up a link to a PDF in my help file.
(I don't care whether the file opens in the CHM frame or in a
separate target=_blank window.) When I preview using the glasses
button, the PDF displays fine. After compiling, when trying to open
the PDF from the CHM, Internet Explorer cannot display the web
page.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!Have you added the .pdf to your baggage? This is necessary to
include it in the .chm.
If you want it to be an external file (i.e. completely
independent of your compiled help) then you need to treat it
differently. Since the help reader navigates with absolute paths,
you must use the Microsoft parser function to find an external file
even when it is in the same folder. This is documented in the Help
Workshop help file. It is also in Rick Stone's Tips and Tricks
file. Let us know where the .pdf is to reside - compiled in the
.chm or external to it.
