Acrobat Reader: Copy to clipboard

I can't locate the right forum to put this in.
I have a PDF document in Twi and it thus has unusual characters. I have used the copy to clipboard facility and pasted it into Microsoft Word 2010 and it does not show the unusual characters correctly.
How can I get the reader to copy the characters correctly?

This is the Acrobat forum. The Reader forum is separate. Reader has not had Acrobat associated with the name since version 5 I think.
Anyway, the only way to get the characters over is to be sure the proper fonts are installed on your system. The alternative is to copy as a graphic instead. You should be able to look at the document properties and determine the font names. Do be careful, because it is not just a font with the same name that is needed, but an idential font. The same name does not guaranttee compatibility.

    Launch Microsoft Word 2010.
Launch Adobe Reader one any Web document.
Switch to Microsoft Word and Copy some text onto the clipboard.
And quickly switch back to Adobe Reader and copy some text from there.

Clearly Acrobat Reader has a problem.  If you point me at the symbols for AcroRd32 I'll help debug it for you since I can repro it easily.

    Here are few solutions:
    1. You can configure firefox to open pdf in external application like acroread. This way plugin problem is bypassed. - I use it this way. It looks to be faster this way.
    2. "C:\nppdf32Log\debuglog.txt" is created every time in directory from where you executed firefox/opera/other browser and opened any pdf file in browser. So this is not only home directory. You can fix this problem by yourself by hex editing nppdf.so file and replacing C:\nppdf32Log\debuglog.txt path in this file with /dev/null path. I have had to erase my disk since then with trouble with Apple Store not recognising my machine and the reload from Time Machine has given complications . Can you please cancel my trial and return my Trial money.

If you paid for what you used then it was not a trial.

    Hello,
I would like to inform you that not all the browsers and online PDF readers support copying text from a PDF. If you have opened the PDF online, please download PDF file to your computer and then open the file in Adobe Reader.
Please share a screenshot if the issue still persists.
    Regards,

    Hi
I've a big problem with adobe acrobat reader XI pro and I hope you can help me.
The problem is; when I past copied text from some pdf books (not all of them) it past symbols only! wherever I past it! and even if I coped that text from another pdf reader (adobe pdf reader, internet browsers, ...etc.).
This problem started to happen since yesterday when I installed adobe acrobat reader XI pro to try it before I buy it, and before that when I was using the free adobe pdf reader I was totally able to copy any text from any pdf and past it anywhere with nothing wrong.
    What can I do?
    thank you a lot.

There is no product called Adobe Acrobat Reader Pro. There is
    - Adobe Acrobat Pro ($$)
    - Adobe Reader (free)
Which do you have? And are you a programmer?

  • Error message when copying from Acrobat Reader

Error message when copying from Acrobat Reader - any file,  any time (Win 7, Adobe many versions until recent).
Copy works, but causes a needless and useless error message that has to be clicked away every time.
This problem is published on the web for a million times without a working solution. And even in the Adobe forum no qualified answer (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/441370)
When can I expect a solution?

    Of course not.
But thank you anyway, I talked to my admin and we changed the whole company to Foxit.
    It can be that easy.

  • Adobe acrobat reader 9 problem saving forms and copying photos

I used adobe acrobat reader 6 at
work and I have a form that I save with new data. I am also able to copy text and photos using version 6.
When I try to save edited forms and copy files from versiion 9 It wont allow me to do that.
Is their any way that I can copy text, photos and save forms in Adobe version 9?
When I try to save forms in version 9 it states that I am unable to save the form. When I try to copy text or photos it will not allow me to copy.

Are you talking about Reader or Acrobat. These are two different programs and Reader definitely has restrictions. Reader used to be called Acrobat Reader before version 6, but that has been gone a long time. The change was likely because of the confusion between Acrobat and Reader. The problems you indicate are suggestive of Reader, not of Acrobat.

  • Problem of spaces with copy-paste from Acrobat Reader X (10.1.0)

    Hi all,
I have a problem when doing a copy-paste from a text in Acrobat Reader X (10.1.0). When I paste, all spaces are erased.
It does not come from the document as the problem is for every pdf.
Do someone have an idea of where the problem comes from ?
    Thanks and cheers
    Julien

This is not the forum for Reader, but the problem probably lies with the way the file was created, and/or with the fonts used in it.

  • Anybody can copy my signature from signed documents opened in Acrobat Reader. How do I prevent that?

The problem occurs when I take a word document in which I've pasted a jpeg of my signature and save it to pdf. I can go straight into Acrobat Reader and make a copy of the signature. That never used to happen. Is there some way to fix that? I see this as a major security problem.

    rehoneyman wrote:

It's always been quite easy to do so not sure why you think that.
You can't keep anyone from copying anything from a PDF document. At the very least they can do a screen grab.

  • Reader X: Internal error when copying to clipboard

I get an "internal error" copying to clipboard (Reader 10.1.1, Windows 7 64-bit) when TightVncviewer (V2.0.4) is running simultaneously.
I assume TightVncviewer monitors the clipboard to copy the actual content to the remote machine.
Closing TightVncviewer resolves the issue. However, I need to use that tool frequently so that's an annoying bug.
As a workaround, I downgraded to Reader 9.

  • Acrobat Reader 8 Clipboard

    Hi,
When i use the screenshot in Acrobat Reader 8, I get the message that the clip is saved in the Clipboard, but I cannot find the clipboard anywhere on my system. Can somebody help me to find the clipboard.
    Naren

    Thanks for the reply.
Yes, the picture only appears when I take a snapshot in autosize mode and not when taken in 100% mode it does not appear. Also how do I save the same when the clipboard is in Finder?

  • I want to uninstall Acrobat reader. I got support in the community to access my HD and to send to trash the internet plugs in for PDF viewer, but when I try to download a PDF from internet a black screen appears and preview doesn't open

I want to uninstall Acrobat reader. I got support in the community to access my HD and to send to trash the internet plugs in for PDF viewer, but when I try to download a PDF from internet a black screen appears and preview doesn't open

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Why Acrobat Reader doesn't open pdf-files from Safari?

I'm new Mac user and cannot find answer why I cannot open pdf-files directly from Safari. My Macbook OS X 10.9.3 and Safari is 7.0.4. Only way to open pdf-files is to download the content first and then open it. If I try to open it directly Acrobat says "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the end user license agreement". I have downloaded Acrobat Reader several times already and cannot understand what I'm doing wrong.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
              Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
              Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.
