Acrobat Reader DC - Bug with Dialog Boxes Containing Images?

Hi all -
Been testing Reader DC.  Only took a couple of minutes to adjust to the new interface; pretty slick and intuitive.
Noticed a potential issue that I wanted to warn/share/prob solve with the community.
I was putting Reader DC through it's paces with a XFA PDF that has some dialog boxes, some of which even had images in them.  (Thanks again to BR001.)
The dialog boxes with images look great on Acrobat & Reader 9/10/11 (WIN & MAC) - images are clear; no pixelation.
Reader DC on MAC appears to be fine - resolution looks the same.
But Reader DC on WIN - the images are now pixelated. Especially around the edges, characters/numbers, etc.  You can tell something is "off" with the image.
A few simple side-by-side tests can be seen at links below.  Reader DC is on left; Acrobat 9 (9.5.5) is on right.

Bug in Reader DC for Windows? Not sure what else the cause could be...
Anyone having their dialog boxes with images open in Reader DC for Windows WITHOUT the pixelation?
FYI/thoughts/ideas/suggestions/confirmations?  Hmmm.....
Brian

Little easier; picture's worth a thousand; etc.

Are you still facing this issue. Is this issue reproducible with every file you want to convert.

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional X - shows blank dialog boxes with vertical bars

The file and print screen and the file and properties screen both show mainly blank screens with vertical bars only on them, no text at all.
Looking around the forum I found it may be a font problem.  Is there a way to know which font or if that is actually the problem and how do you resolve that?
This is on a Windows 7 - 64bit system with Adobe Acrobat Professional X (10.1.12) installed.
    Thank you.

    Hi brian!

  • Animation with dialog boxes

I'm writing a troubleshooting application and I want to be able to describe the process of fixing a specific problem along with the ability for the user to have the dialog box shown in his/her screen and being able to follow the steps describe textually.Like if the users is trying to configure the printer I want the application to include the dialogboxes that a techie person would be using.
Would you please indicate how this could be done and what classes or waht objects residing in the system allow to do such a thing in Java.
Thanks a lot and please be spedific in your answers

Try sub-classing Canvas and adding an Image to paint to that canvas. The image can then be updated to a different one as the user progresses through the steps needed to setup that printer or whatever. That would be just a "static" or non-animated way. To animate the image, well, you need images -more then one, then just (outside of that dialog) create a loop that will cycle through the images to specify. Like a globe that spins around would have maybe 3 images (a,b,c) then you show your dialog box and tell the canvas to display image a, then b, then c, and back to a again. Do you follow?

  • How do I get Acrobat Reader to work with Firefox again? I'ver tried everything that I can find in the Help area.

A while back now I lost use of Acrobat Reader's loading feature while in Firefox. I have tried all of the suggestions that I can find in the Help Menu, on blogs, etcetera, and nothing has worked to re-enable it. The Acrobat Reader seems to work fine from all other browsers, and from the Start Menu. I just can't get it to work with Mozilla.

I solved this problem by looking at the plug-ins I had in 5.0 and found that I had two versions of Adobe - a V8 and a V10 enabled. I disabled the V8 and it all works fine now.

  • How do I clean out the "Open With" dialog box when I right click an image?f

    Hi,
When I right-click and image to open it in a program I get a long list of programs to choose from. Many are duplicated or the same program but different version #s like Preview. How do I clean out the dupes and ones I don't want and keep the ones I do?
How would I add CS3's Adobe Camera Raw to the list?

Do a search for details on cleaning up the "open with" dialog, it's been discussed before but I'm sorry I can't remember what the fixes are.
I have duplicate choices too but have never tried to clean them up.

  • Acrobat/Reader cannot cope with internal Webserver connectivity problems, leading to comments being hidden/deleted. Any thoughts?

Adobe Acrobat/Reader do not cope with interruptions to access to the internal WebServer hosting the PDF/XML review files.
    Steps to reproduce the issue:
Connection is lost to the WebServer hosting the PDF review files.
After connection to the WebServer is regained, access to the PDF review files is blocked by Adobe Acrobat/Reader.
Sometimes this can be resolved by deleting the entire contents of the folder:
              C:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Acrobat\11.0\Synchronizer
    NOTES:
We have experienced this behaviour especially when connecting to the WebServer via VPN. I reckon the connectivity issues could be initially our problem, that Acrobat/Reader simply do not handle.
Clearing the contents of the Synchronizer folder does not always work.
Team members have also seen situations where significant numbers of review comments or status values have been not been displayed, but exist in the XML review files. In some cases comments/status values have been automatically deleted without warning from the Adobe review XML files.
PDF reviews are sent out via email as links to the PDF review file hosted on an internal WebServer.
Writers and reviewers in the team either have either:
Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.08 with Reader 11.0.08
Acrobat XI Pro 9.5.5 with Reader 11.0.08
I have personally experienced the above behaviour with Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.08 and Reader 11.0.08.
Could this experience be connected the Synchronizer (http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/known-issues-acrobat-xi-reader.html )?
For example, where a reviewer uses a different version of Acrobat/Reader?
Could anyone please provide a list of compatible versions of Acrobat/Reader?
    Expected results:
Adobe Acrobat/Reader should really handle connection issues with a warning and later check for recovered connections.
However, what appears to be happening is that Acrobat/Reader writes some sort of blocking code to the Synchronizer folder that prevents future checks of the PDF review files on the review WebServer.
As far as I understand, the connection issues are not caused by Adobe software, however the problems we are experiencing relate to how Adobe Acrobat/Reader handle this loss of connection.
    Plea for Help!
I have checked and the experience of missing comments and persistent "connectivity issues" seems to be a reported but sadly outstanding issue...
This has been an ongoing headache for some time, so solutions would be great, but any thoughts or suggestions are welcome...?
For example, has anyone using SharePoint to host PDF reviews experienced anything similar?
    Many thanks!

Adobe Acrobat 11.0.09 with Microsoft SharePoint Repository Trial Update
We've completed week one of a three week trial (see above) that will go on until Friday 24th October.
We currently have just four PDF files out for review that make use of the SharePoint repository.
    To-date:
Each review file has had multiple concurrent reviewers posting comments over several days from both over the office LAN and also via VPN when working remotely.
Dynamic stamps seem to be working as hoped and are all visible.
We have not experienced any connection-type issues and the we have not had reason to clear out the Synchronizer folder as described above.
    Counter balance:
I have experienced the situation with a remote VPN connection, where Adobe Acrobat could not connect to our internal WebServer repository. At the same time, I was able to connect to PDF review files hosted in SharePoint.
    Summary:
The experience so far does suggest that problems are caused by the an inconsistent connection to the WebServer repository (especially over VPN) combined with Adobe Acrobat/Reader's inability to cope with the resulting situation.
At the moment I must say that while it is early days, I am hopeful that the combination of SharePoint as the repository and the update to Adobe Acrobat/Reader 11.0.09 will continue to prove to be reliable.
I'll provide an update to this post on Friday 24th October...
    Here's hoping!

  • Acrobat  Reader 9 Bug?

I designed a form in Acrobat Professional 8. When I look at the form in Acrobat Reader version 9 and attempted to submit the form, the software opens my email client and creates a new email message, but doesn't fill the "To:" in the email. When I used a different computer with Reader 8 installed, the "To:" in my email is filled in with the proper email address.
If I create a new form in Acrobat Professional 9, and use acrobat reader 9, I don't have this problem.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I dont know how to move it. I'll mark it as answered and post a new one!
    Sorry for the mistake!

  • Issue with dialog boxes in Designer, please help

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with designer the last 4 days. It was working fine before.
Any dialog box wants to open, I can not insert tables, edit properties, etc.
I'm using Designer 11.5.0.0 with SP3 update, I reinstalled every thing, but it's still not working.
Does someone know how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Marcela

    Hi,
The issue is resolved, but I don't know what caused this error.
I uninstalled the java components and BO then I deleted the BO folder under program files, then I deleted all BO entries in the registry.
Finally I reinstalled everything except the service pack and that finally worked. I don't know the cause of this error.
    Regards,
    Marcela

  • Acrobat Reader DC: Open with right pane closed?

Is there a preference so that Acrobat Reader DC will open a PDF with the right pane closed (for desktop, either Windows or OSX)?

It is very much annoying that this side pane shows up every time I open a document. It is also the reason I am currently thinking of switching to another PDF reader, so I would like to see how Adobe is coming to their senses and give us an option to disable it.

Print (⌘-p), then click on the big blue arrow to expand the window, There, you will find "Pages" and you can choose. Then, click on PDF at the bottom left and choose "Save as PDF"

  • Problem installing Acrobat Reader on Mac with Mavericks (with error)

I tried ALL the ways to install Acrobat Reader on my Macbook with Mavericks, nothing worked!
It says "Error 301" or something like that and I already tried to download the enterprise version, the offline version, to change the login settings of my macbook. Nothing works...
All started when, at a certain point, I don't know why, it stopped working opening pdf files, saying "error, the file could be damaged or you need an updated version of Adobe Acrobat Reader", so I uninstalled the app and tried to install again. It was when I realized that the mission was harder than  I thought!
Please, if anybody with the same problem solved it yet, please please share it with me!
    Thank you!

I'm sorry, part of it is in portuguese!
How can I post here the install.log file?
    Thank you so much!
PS: Apparently the error now is different, with no number ..

  • Acrobat Reader X integration with SharePoint 2010

I recently upgraded from Acrobat Pro 9.x to Acrobat Reader X (10.1.2) to test out the new SharePoint integration features. Per the Enterprise Admin Guide, I added the line to my DocIcon.xml file to handle the ".pdf" extension, added the PDF icon to my server, verified that the WebDAV module wasn't present in IIS, and then restarted my SharePoint server.
When I click on a PDF document from a SharePoint document library, however, I receive an error message that reads, "There was an error opening this document. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."
Some things I have already tried to remedy the problem:
I have full rights to the SharePoint Server and the document library in question.
I verified that the WebClient Windows service is running locally on my machine.
Clicking on "Edit Document" from the document library's item context menu produces the same error message.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Jeff,
Have a look at this Microsoft Technet Forum:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointgeneral/thread/49aed23c-cf9c-43 39-8c17-ff1df65649a6/

  • Open Dialog box: disable image preview (For large images, it's SLOOOWWWW)

Open Dialog box in column view:
    Can I disable image preview?
For large images, it's SLOOOWWWW !!!!!
    ( I often work with 8000 x 3500 panoramic images )

Mostly this is a problem in PhotoshopOK, my Photoshop is still a Classic version. I was looking at one or two others, like GraphicConverter, but the only pref there seems to be to generate a Preview if one doesn't exist.
I'll look some more—it's irritating me now

  • Acrobat Reader - Use Fixed Resolution for Snapshot tool images setting

    Hello,
We're currently running Acrobat Reader 9.x on our production Windows Vista SP2 Enterprise image and we're running Acrobat Reader X on our development Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit image.  I'm curious if there's a registry setting that sets the "Use fixed Resolution for Snapshop tool images" from 72dpi to 300 dpi.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rob

The per user settings are held in the following registry location:
    HKCU\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Selection
There is a hexadecimal value named iSnapshotResolution which contains the resolution for the Snapshot Tool. Also a parameter called bUseFixedSnapshotResolution which needs to be set to 1 to switch the feature on or 0 to disable the feature.
This is a per user setting but I believe Reader checks the per machine location
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader 10.0\Selection
Presumably you can put the same values into the HKLM section (it doesn't exist by default) so you will need to create the Selection key.
    Hope this makes sense.
