Acrobat reader in Lion?

I cannot open documents coming into me needing Acrobat since I installed Lion? Can anyone give me advice please?

Did you look at Adobe statements regarding Lion compatibility?

I upgraded to Lion and now can't print PDF files and Acrobat reader doesn't work anymore. What can I do to get it working?

If you upgraded and were using a version of Acrobat Reader that was legacy, that is PPC compatible, then you will have to upgrade to a version compatible with Lion as Lion no longer has Rosetta to interface with the legacy software.
I know that Acrobat, full version, 10 works with Lion...use it myself.

  • Lion and Acrobat Reader (in)compatibility?

I can't seem to open pdfs in Lion.  I get an error message explaining that PowerPC applications won't run in Lion. I'm using Acrobat Reader 5.0.  Any suggestions?

    Hello,
you should update your Acrobat Reader
I think it is at version 10 , now, either close to or just passed
Just go on Adobe web site for Acrobat Reader

  • Since Lion doesn't support Power PC... how do I open Adobe acrobat reader?

I'm trying to open Adobe Acrobat Reader to download something from the internet, and discovered for the first time that I can't because Power PC is no longer supported by Apple..(whatever that is????)  I don't know what to do.  Can someone help.  Thank you sgarbo

power pc is an old cpu type made by ibm that apple used to put in their rather old macs
if you downloaded an acrobat reader which require power pc then you downloaded the wrong! and possible dangerous version of acrobat reader download the correct one if you must from adobes site
but osx support displaying pdf files without you installing that program
which along with Java are the biggests caused of insucrity in private computers there are apple and windows alike

  • Acrobat Reader 11.0.07 update causes LabVIEW application to crash

    Hi All,
I wrote an application that uses the Adobe ActiveX element to display a PDF.
This code used to work fine, but when I updated my acrobat reader from 11.0.06 to 11.0.07 it causes the application to start very briefly displaying the icon in the taskbar but then close (without an error or warning notification).
When downgrading to 10.0.06 the problem was solved.
Perhaps this can be of help for others who are experiencing problems with LabVIEW / Acrobat Reader.
    Chris

This is a known problem that everybody is yelling about and the solution is to not upgrade to 11.0.07. You don't have to all the way back to V10. 11.0.06 works fine. Just remember to configure Acrobat to not automatically update itself.

  • Can't print from acrobat reader

I have a mac mini (2011) running lion. I have the latest version of Acrobat Reader installed. When viewing any pdf file, it works fine. However, if I click on the printer icon, nothing happens. Nothing goes to the print queue. Also, if I hit File>Print, the printer dialogue doesn't appear. Nothing happens at all.
I can print pdf files from Preview, just fine, so I know it's not a printer problem.
I've trashed and reinstalled Acrobat Reader, fixed permissions, rebooted and trashed the Adobe Application Support files from Library.
I'm stumped. I have to have Acrobat, as it's the only program that can open certain government forms. I can't "print as image" since I can't even get the printer dialogue to show up. I'm only having this issue on one machine, so I'm completely stumped.
    HELP!

"IF" You are using, OSX.4.11 Try locating , downloading, installing AppleJack (there currently isn't a version for Leopard or Snow Leopard). The to Run Restart holding down the Command-S keys. This put you in Single User Mode (Raw UNIX).
when a screen full of print scrolls through and your left with a Blink Cursor, Type applejack.
simply follow directions. go by the numbers follow them in order they are given.
Now items 3&4 you have to do once for your system, and once for each User Account (name you gave computer when setting up example you gave name as John Smith name for user account would be johnsmith).
Once completed (1-5)  hit return then choose Reboot or Shutdown.
In your case choose r and then hit return.
when it restarts wait, a whole bunch of cache files were dumped. You may even see the "dreaded "Blue screen for a little bit, and bits and piece of the desktop will appear until completely rebuilt.
    After rebuilt Try printing.
If that doesn't work. Report back and maybe someone else can come up with an idea.

  • Fill and save form in Acrobat Reader + checkbox problem

I use Acrobat Pro X to create fillable forms and then save the file as Reader Extended PDF - Enable Additional Features, and when I want to open it and fill it in in Acrobat Reader, I get a pop-up saying I can only save it as a blank document.
Another issue I'm having is that when I fill it in Preview and save it, everything saves except the checkboxes, they are always blank.
Could this be because I'm using Mac OS X Lion?

I'm sure I open the one that I save as enabled version but it does sound like the file is just being saved as a regular PDF. Here is the screenshot below of the security settings, I'm not sure exactly what the enabled version is supposed to show.
And here is the message I'm getting:

  • Acrobat / Reader Crashing When Editing Form Values

I'm supposed to be designing an interactive PDF form for a client using InDesign. They have sent me their current one but I found whenever I try to enter a field value into a text field, it crashes whichever app I'm using to view it.
I thought maybe the PDF was corrupted, so I created a new document from scratch with just one text field on there… and still they freak out just when I try to enter a value into it!
I then opened it in Apple Preview, and they work fine. Both PDFs in fact.
But in Acrobat / Reader all I get is the spinning wheel for ages and I have to force quit.
I'm running the latest version of Acrobat XI Pro on Mac OS X Lion with Adobe CC
Does anyone know what the problem might be? This issue is making the job hard to work on

It looks like you may not have the latest update (10.1.2) installed, so you might want to check that.

  • Plötzlich diverse Bugs (Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat Reader) unter OS X 10.7.2

    Hallo liebe Community.
    Acrobat Reader:
PDF Datein laden extrem lange.

  • After installing Mavericks Acrobat reader stopped working, Skype stopped working, lost a bunch of e-mails in my gmail account in Mail.

After installing Mavericks Acrobat reader stopped working, Skype stopped working, lost a bunch of e-mails in my gmail account in Mail. Anyone has a fix?  I can't open PDF files anymore...

    Do a backup.
Take notes of all account information or take screen shots. You may need to set the accounts up again. Quit Mail.
    Copy the line below.
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Select Go/Go To Folder from the Finder menu bar. Paste the line into the window. You won’t see it.
Move the folder com.apple.mail to your desktop. You must move the entire folder, not just the contents.
Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is solved, recreate any required Mail settings and import any emails you want to save from the folder on the desktop. If the problem remains, return the folder to where you got it replacing the one that is there.
    Information learned from Linc Davis.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
Show User Library Directory in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion & 10.8 Mountain Lion
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after every update. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader. if it is running please exit and try again. (523.523)

We are getting the following error "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader. if it is running please exit and try again. (523.523)" and a gray screen appears (Image not viewable) with multiple users. We are using Adobe Reader XI (11.0.05) and (11.0.06). The current workaround is to log off the website and log back in. Once the user logs back in, the pdf will appear. However it occurs anywhere from 2-8 times in a day. Anyone else having this issue or know of another workaround? Any suggestion with how to fix? Please help!!

    Hi Valerie,
Please let me know the version of Adobe Acrobat/Reader & operating system installed on your computer?
    Also, try this:-
    Launch Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
From the menu, choose Edit -> preferences -> General
Uncheck the option for "Enable Protected Mode at startup"
Restart the Adobe Reader and web browser.

  • Chrome - Adobe-Acrobat/Reader can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser.

I can't view PDF files via Chrome (it works on Internet Explorer but I prefer Chrome)  -  the error below has arisen recently on Chrome, though I can't see what has changed.
    "Acrobat plug-in
The Adobe-Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Please exit  Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again."
I have looked through Forum articles on similar errors and have tried the following(text copied from other Forum entries)
    Repair Adobe Acrobat (from Acrobat)
Repair Adobe Acrobat (from Control Panel
Configure Acrobat  as a helper application: Choose Edit > Preferences., Select Internet on the left., Deselect Display PDF In Browser Using [Acrobat application], and then click OK.Quit Acrobat or Reader
Create a registry item for Acrobat: with Regedit: If the registry item doesn't exist on the system, do the following: Go to Edit > New > Key and create the missing HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe.Go to Edit > New > String Value and name this key (Default).Select (Default), and then go to Edit > Modify. Type the Adobe Acrobat path in the "Value data" for your product.,restart your computer
Repair the HKCR\AcroExch.Document registry key: Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document., Right-click AcroExch.Document and select Delete; make sure that you have the correct key, and click Yes on any prompts, Right-click AcroExch.Document.7 and select Delete; make sure that you have the correct key, and click Yes on any prompts. Repair your Acrobat  installation
None has solved the problem. However it still works ok with IE. But I want to stick with Chrome because I find IE is so slow!
I am using Vista, with Adobe Acrobat standard 9.5.2 and Google Chrome version 23.0.1271.64 m which is marked on Chrome as 'up to date'
Does anyone know why I might be getting this error on Chrome but not IE?

I think I have discovered the answer to my own question!
I have disabled Adobe Reader plug-in, and can now see PDFs in Chrome.
(Steps: Chrome Menu, Settings option, Click Advanced Settings link, then Content Settings button, then select Disable Individual Plug-Ins, and a list of plug-ins is offered to enable or disable).
I then get a different result depending on whether or not Chrome PDF viewer is enabled - with it enabled I see the PDF document in Chrome, or with it disabled then the option is offered to download it, but either way I can get it it via Chrome without having to run Internet explorer in another browser window.
