With the full version of Adobe Acrobat 7 and upwards you can remove
using the uninstaller inside the product folder.
With Adobe Reader it's slightly different:

    Hello,
I would like to inform you that not all the browsers and online PDF readers support copying text from a PDF. If you have opened the PDF online, please download PDF file to your computer and then open the file in Adobe Reader.
Please share a screenshot if the issue still persists.

  • Install Acrobat/Reader plugin on Mac

Has anyone installed an own Acrobat/Reader plug_in on Mac?  Is there a standard way to do this? Up to Mac 10.4 there was a "Plug-ins" section in the information dialog of Acrobat/Reader, which was good to install/deinstall plug_ins. I don't find this section anymore.
I am searching a sample, how to create an installer for the plug_ins correctly. I don't want that the user has to open the plug_ins folder in the finder and drag and drop the .acroplugin into that folder.

There should be information about this in the SDK documentation.

  • Acrobat Reader X with MAC Server based User Profiles

    Hello Forum,
I'm a bit in trouble with Acrobat Reader X (10.0.0.3) on my Mac. We are using server based user profiles for the whole network. (SL Sever and SL Clients 10.6.7)
Installing the Reader X has finished successfully. If I'm starting my Reader, a requester is popping up, asking me if Acrobat should be the default application for PDF files or not. Pushing any button causes the application to terminate after some seconds.
Due it's working with a local profile without any errors I think the problem is the server based user profile.
Any ideas how to solve this problem? Switching to local profiles is not possible ...
    Best Regards,
    Markus

    Hi Michael,
sorry for using the wrong forum. I'll post my question to the Reader board ...
To answer your question. That was my idea too, but it is not possible to copy a whole profile. They are a lot of other problems if you do that. I didn't find the settings only. may it would be enough to copy the settings for the reader.
    Best Regards,

  • Print dialog not shown on Acrobat reader 11 and Mac OS X 10.9.2

No matter what document I open, print dialog never appear and I cannot print any document.
I tried also to install older version of acroread but still no luck.
I found also this settings tab quite strange like something is missing.
    Can anyone help me?

    I have the same problem.
It is not a matter of 'error message' nor does it have anything to do with the link provided. That link is all about scanning initiatives from the Mac. The question here is about doing the scanning initiative from the scanner control panel. That is called 'Scan to computer'.
Somehow the Mac has to be put in a receiving mode for that (makes sense). HP only provides the neccessary info for Windows, because 'This step is not necessary for Mac operating systems'. See http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/learnUseDisp lay/?sp4ts.oid=5304875&spf_p.tpst=psiContentDisplay&spf_p.prp_psiContentDisplay= wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c03767419-7%257CdocLocale%253Den_US&ja vax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vi gnette.cachetoken
Seems the Mac is in receiving mode by default. But that is not the case. Because the printer says it sees no available computers.
So how can the Mac be put in receiving mode manually ? Or what should happen to make it in receiving mode by default ?

  • I am unable to read pdf files using Acrobat Reader on my MAC OS X. Any suggestions?

How do I read pdf files using my MAC OS X?

You can read pdf files with preview. Select a pdf document, right click on it, and choose Preview. You can also get info and select to choose Preview for all.
You can also install Adobe Reader 10.1.3 for Lion. It will also install a plug-in to read pdf docs in the browser.

  • Can't update acrobat 8 to 8.1, on Intel Mac

    I can't update acrobat 8 to 8.1, on Intel Mac. I says I need to reactivate plug-ins. Version 8 won't run Distiller.

    Hi Kristan,
I checked and fileVault has been off and I tried uninstalling. After reinstalling when I went to upgrade either it didn't do any good, gave me the message it couldn't upgrade because of some plug-in/ETC. or Acrobat was grayed out when I went to select it as the program location to upgrade.
I did find the blog, pasted below, but doing all this hasn't helped.
I will try again but I need to know, should I allow the autoupdaterer do the update or should I do it manually? Or any other suggestions you may be able to give me.
    Thank you

Distiller 8 problem with Intel Mac?
    Julie Gallagher - 09:54am Dec 3, 2007 Pacific
I just upgraded my desktop Mac in order to install CS3. I'm already running CS3 on a G4PB with no problems. Aside from the Intel/PPC difference, both computers have the same setups and files, both currently running OSX.4.11. (The new computer was set up by migrating setups from the old computer via firewire, then CS3 was installed.)
On the new computer, when I try to distill a file with Distiller 8, the file doesn't process (error message below). The same file processes OK with Distiller 7 on the new computer, also with Distiller 8 on the G4PB. The results are the same whether I'm using prebuilt or custom Distiller settings.
    With Distiller 7:

Any suggestions other than keeping CS2 on the desktop Mac?

OK - solved it (on my Mac at least)...
Firstly, what I think the problem is is that the 8.1.2 update do not mention the word English - I got onto this clue when I studied the installer log for 8.0 Professional - it showed that distiller was only installed to 8.1 - I was baffled and examined the files at length, then went through this...
    1. Uninstall Adobe Acrobat Professional
    2. Go to the Adobe site and download Bridge Start Meeting 1.0.1 (I believe the uninstaller crashes components in this and if you install without in firstly installed - the installer will ask you for the disk containing it).
    3. Remember this is the install and fix for an APPLE MAC Intel mac...
    4. Install Acrobat Professional 8.0 from your original CS3 DVD
    5. Go to Adobe site and download Acrobat Professional Update 8.10 (file name should read AcroProUpd810_efgi.dmg, and I believe the efgi bit is English, French, German, Italian, and as it clearly mentions English I think I (and many like me) messed up by using the 8.1.2 update which doe NOT mention English and obviously does not update Distiller, in fact, I think and feel - it probably corrupts it...
I hope this helps those suffering like me (it took ages to work this one out), tied now - I need a beer....

Oops - sorry - the text from the 8.1.2 release...
"This multilingual update can be applied to Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish, and Swedish versions of Acrobat 8 Professional. For more information, see the technical document describing the Acrobat 8.1.2 update in the Support Knowledgebase."
No mention of English - only Multiple Languages...

Where did you see that text at? The 8.1.2 is for English as well as 14 other languages.

  • Problems with Safari, Acrobat, Intel Macs, and Life Cycle Form Mgr.

    Here is my problem:
A Mac user using 10.4.10, with Acrobat Standard Ed v.7.0.9 installed,
is having to approve purchase forms through Adober Life Cycle Form Manager
through Safari 2.0.4. When trying to approve the PDF forms, it tells her
she needs to have Acrobat v.7 installed, and only shows a white page.
Went back and launched Acrobat 7.0.9, and did the "Detect and Repair"
setting to verify the Adobe PDFViewer plugin was installed.
Said it was, checked the Library/Internet Plugins folder and it was.
Launched Safari, Safari's list of plug-ins does not show it as being installed.
Trashed the Safari .plist file, relaunched Safari, same thing.
Read on the Apple site that people were experiencing similar issues,
Read on Adobe's site that for Intel Macs, should be using v. 8.01.
Downloaded the 8.01 Acrobat Reader and installed it.
re-launched Safari, success, it says the plugin, v.8.01 is installed.
Go back to Adobe Life Cycle Forms Manager, go to view a PDF,
at 100% screen size, PDF shows correctly. Zoom in on details,
PDF goes blank, will not show details. Zoom back out,
PDF goes white page, no info displayed.
    My Questions:
    1. is it an issue with Adobe Life Cycle Forms Manager and Safari on Intel Macs?
    2. Is there a way to get a proper plug in for Safari, so that Acrobat will read the PDFs
    instead of the default Preview?
    thanks in Advance

    bump
anybody running ALCFM and Acrobat 8 with an Intel Mac,
are you running into issues with approval of PDF forms?

  • It's impossible to create Enhanced Podcasts on Intel Macs. Please read.

After vast amounts of frustration trying to create an Enhanced Podcast on my MacBook Pro, I tracked down the source of the problem:
    $ file /Applications/GarageBand.app/Contents/MacOS/ChapterTool
    /Applications/GarageBand.app/Contents/MacOS/ChapterTool: Mach-O executable ppc
GarageBand uses ChapterTool to add the artwork and chapter stops to the AAC file, and ChapterTool is PPC only. Command-line applications do not run under Rosetta. Simply put, there's no way to author enhanced podcasts if you're using an Intel Mac. None. Every other tool out there to do so needs ChapterTool, too.
Pathetic. If you, like me, are an Intel Mac user who'd like to create Enhanced Podcasts, provide some feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/garageband.html
    15.4" MacBook Pro, 2ghz, 2gb, 100gb @7200rpm   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Simply put, there's no way to author enhanced podcasts if you're using an Intel Mac.
Sorry, but I don't buy this. Just created an Enhanced Podcast without any problems. And given that the whole podcast stuff was introduced together with the Intel Macs, we would have heard a lot of complaints here in the forum during the last 10 months. You're the first.
