Acrobat/Reader, PDF/FDF saving issue.

I am trying to get an "Email Application" button to work on my form. I have added the button, set it as a "Submit a Form" button, added the email link, and the export type as PDF. The button does as it should when using Acrobat on my computer, but on a different computer that only has Reader, the form will not save.
The form that inspired me to add this Email button saves just fine as a PDF in Reader. The only way I can get it to save is to set the export type as FDF, and that's not what I want.
How can I make this work?

However, if you simply have the FDF sent, then you can import the FDF data file into the form and have the same result as if the entire form being sent. The advantage of the data submission rather than the form submission is that you avoid any issues of the limitations in the license agreement. I admit I have not checked the AA XI license agreement, but in the past there has been a 500 use limit on the form submission if reader enabled.
If you are using e-mail submission as mentioned, be careful about any personal data included in the submission. E-mail is not a secure method of submission. Even with a web site, you may want to use a secure site if personal information is included.

  • In Acrobat reader X -default saving location do not funcion.

In previous versions of Acrobat reader the application would remember where I usually save my files and would by default suggest the same location next time I attempted to save a document.
For employees that recieve hundreds of pdf.attachemts that needs to be saved its is huge effort to keep browsing to the folder of prefrens. This will be especially time requiring with a huge file structure that we normally have in companies.
If pfd attachments are openned trough outlook for example upon trying to save them adobeb suggests to save it in a outlook cash folder under internet temporary map.
This problem started with the latest version of Adobe and was not an issue with the ninth version. The X version always suggest to save the file to where it was oppened from and does not remember where I usually save my files.
    My question is:
Are you awear of this problem?`
Will there be a update with fix for this?
I have seen many asking the same question here but it has been remained unanswered.
    Thankful for anykind of feedback.

    This circumstance annoys me, too.
I already looked into the registry but couldn't find a matching key to edit this adjustment.
Is there any way to get rid of that and to recover the old behaviour?
    Would be very appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

     Dear Adobe people ...
This is a user-to-user forum; you do not address Adobe staff here.
The original post was about an installation on a beta version of Windows 7, which was not supported at the time.
If you have a problem with a different version of Adobe Reader on a different version of Windows 7, please open a new topic.
I'd gladly address Adobe staff directly about it if they didn't make it so difficult to do so but there are notices galore on their website restricting the ways of doing so for this particular product. That said, I accept that they may not review these posts and act on bugs found (although why is beyond me, I know if I was a developer of software and I wanted it to be top quality, I'd be looking everywhere I can for sources of bugs having been found and I certainly wouldn't make it any more difficult than an ordinary bug submission on any other software to report it).
It's clear to me that the problem originally posted about that shows up in Win 7 RC, is still present in the latest software and popping its ugly head up under Win 7 RTM. If they'd nipped it in the bud back then it should be fixed by now - that's annoying. I've been using online forums for a long time and I know it's always a good idea to search for a solution or similar thread and post in that if present, rather than opening an entirely new thread. As the bug is the same, the Adobe software version is very similar and the OS is just an earlier non-RTM version and there are no set forums for bugs within specific RTM vs RC/Beta OS's I posted here.
I'm not going to start a new thread because if, as you say there's no addressing of Adobe Staff here (and you haven't mentioned you have inside connections and will pass it on) what's the point? I will make one phonecall to Abobe in an effort to report this but there needs to be more open ways of bug reporting, even if it is a free product.

  • Adobe acrobat reader 9 problem saving forms and copying photos

I used adobe acrobat reader 6 at
work and I have a form that I save with new data. I am also able to copy text and photos using version 6.
When I try to save edited forms and copy files from versiion 9 It wont allow me to do that.
Is their any way that I can copy text, photos and save forms in Adobe version 9?
When I try to save forms in version 9 it states that I am unable to save the form. When I try to copy text or photos it will not allow me to copy.

Are you talking about Reader or Acrobat. These are two different programs and Reader definitely has restrictions. Reader used to be called Acrobat Reader before version 6, but that has been gone a long time. The change was likely because of the confusion between Acrobat and Reader. The problems you indicate are suggestive of Reader, not of Acrobat.

  • Acrobat 9.4.1 - Saving issues

We are receiving the following error when trying to save a file, that has been downloaded from a website: The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder.
I've found other solutions in this forum and have tried what's been suggested, however nothing seems to work.  The file has only been open by the one user and no other user and is being saved to a network location.
Here's what we've tried so far:
    - turned off Windows Explorer Preview
    - turned off Acrobat security
    - Saved to another location on the network and even on the user's desktop
    Environment:
    - Windows 7 Professional (32bit)
    - Acrobat 9.4.1 Standard
    - Office 2010 Professional
    Any thoughts?

I loaded reader only after I started having this problem. I needed to open the
file and reader has no problem opening the file.
The reader install did recognize that acrobat was
installed asking me which one i wanted as my default reader

  • How do I purchase reader extensions to save a PDF form that has been filled out in Acrobat Reader?

I have just discovered that in order to save a PDF form that has been electronically filled out in Acrobat Reader, that I have to purchase reader extensions to make this possible.  I would like to speak to someone about the price and how to purchase.
I cannot find a phone number on your site, so I am hoping to get an answer from Adobe this way.
    Thanks,
    Chani

Thanks everyone for responding.  I should have supplied more information.
I was hired by my client to create PDF forms that can be downloaded from their website, filled out electronically in Acrobat Reader, and then saved (with all the form fields filled in) and emailed.
I was supplied with scanned forms as the base for creating the form fields in Acrobat Pro.  These web visitors that will be filling out the forms and emailing them will only have Acrobat Reader, most likely.
I created the forms in Acrobat Pro, and they worked great when I tested them ( in Acrobat Pro) - I could save the form field data.  However, my client has come back to me with numerous complaints from their web visitors - they cannot save the form once they have filled it out in Acrobat Reader and keep the data they have entered.  Instead, they have to print the form physically, scan it, and email it that way (kind of low tech for the year 2013, and not easy for these people).
So, my end goal is to update these forms in Acrobat Pro so they can be filled out by folks only using Acrobat Reader and saved with the form field data intact.  Seems like a no-brainer that Acrobat Pro should have this capability without purchasing additional extensions.  However, in my research online, I have found several posts that suggest that purchasing "Reader Extensions" is the only way to enable Acrobat Pro to be able to do this.
Can someone please clarify if I need to buy something to program these forms in Acrobat Pro to enable other people using Acrobat Reader to fill out these forms and save them with the form fields intact?
If I do need to buy something, what is it exactly?  How do I find out clear, consise, specific information about buying it/the cost/the licensing?  I am a sole owner/employee of a graphic design firm and these forms are for my client, which is a locally-owned regional hospital.
If this needs to move to the LiveCycle forum, fine, but I don't really know what that software is and since I'm only using Acrobat Pro (and the users, Acrobat Reader) I felt this was the appropriate place to post.
Thanks for all of your responses!

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader for IPad2

Please help me because I'm going nuts. Government Canada keeps asking that I upgrade to latest Version of Adobe and will not let me print forms or fill online forms.
I've reloaded latest IPad app yet get the same message.
Has the newest version of Adobe Acrobat reader got any conflict issues? Is there an older version that will work? Or am I doing something wrong all of a sudden? Up until a few weeks ago I could open PDF files in Acrobat. Now, sadly, no more!!!
I would really appreciate your help with this.

  • Is Adobe by any chance resolving the z-index for Acrobat Reader Plugin?

I have a situation where a DHTML pulldown menu needs to z-index infront of an embedded PDF <object> or a PDF <Iframe>.
I have attemtpted this several different ways, which included z-indexing the DHTML menu as far to the front as possible, and adding a div tag around the <object> or <iframe> in an attempt to z-index it back -1.  These did not work for the embed PDF, although it worked for the css border around that PDF.
With the exception of finding one JQUERY script online (which only resolves the Acrobat Reader z-index plugin issue for IE6), there was nothing else.
And there seems to be many people looking for answers to this problem.
It would certainly be a vaulable function, and am wondering if Adobe has attempted to add this feature in upcoming versions?
    Thanks,
    ZY

I think there is a bug in Plug-in check. It happened to me as well in the last few days. There's no newer version of Adobe Reader that I know of. Anyway, Adobe is going to release a patch next Tuesday, maybe that'll fix this bug.

  • Plötzlich diverse Bugs (Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat Reader) unter OS X 10.7.2

    Hallo liebe Community.
    Acrobat Reader:
PDF Datein laden extrem lange.

  • I have a acrobat reader, can I import text delimited data format to a PDF Form so that it can auto fill into forms that was created? If not, what about FDF and XML data

I have a acrobat reader, can I import text delimited data format to a PDF Form so that it can auto fill into forms that was created? If not, what about FDF and XML data

Yes, you can do all of that via Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Import Data, if you have Acrobat.
If you only have the free Reader then you can still do it, but it requires a script.

  • Saving a PDF form with Acrobat Reader X

According to Acrobat Reader X site under "Can I save an Adobe PDF form in Adobe Reader after I have filled it out?", the following answer is given:
"Yes, you can fill in and save forms provided the form author has enabled the "local save" capability within Adobe Acrobat or LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2." Further information reveals that Acrobat 9 Pro (which is what I have) includes LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2. I cannot locate on Help how to enable the "local save" facility.

Look under the "Advance" menu bar item for "Enable Extended Reader Rights".

  • Exporting pdf in Indesign that allows commenting & saving in Acrobat Reader

I have a feeling there isn't a way to do this but I thought I would ask in case there is. I was wondering if you can export a pdf in Indesign CS4 that someone who is using Acrobat Reader X can comment and then save. I know you can open the pdf in Acrobat Pro and select Advance>extend features in Acrobat Reader and that will work but I was wondering if there was a way to skip this step.
    Thanks!

    No.
