Acrobat Reader remains freezen a few seconds when open a pdf-file

Hello everybody,
I have Windows7 Prof 64 bit with the Adobe Reader X (v.10.4.1) installed.
When I will open a pdf file, the opened pdf-file remains freezen (in the same time the mouse remains freezen to) for about 10 or 20 seconds. In this time I can do nothing. After this time the Adobe Reader works again normal without problems and I could read me pdf-file.
Do you know if this problem is normal or how to fix it?
Thanks for your discussion and answers.

It is very curious, I has this problem more than one year. And now I have tested my pdf documents which a already freezen and there don't freezen. I have tested my small and big and your pdf file and I no longer have this problem.  The problem is resolved.
Yesterday I have only tried to creat with word an blanc file by save as *.pdf and I have open this file with the reader and since this I no longer have this problem.
I have do nothing (except of post my error on the forum) for resolve this problem and the problem is resolved.
If the problem will return in the next months I will post more details how written from "Pat Willener".
Thanks for your help.

What kind of advertisement?  In Adobe Reader?  Can you post a screenshot of that: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1070933
Regarding the crash, can you try disabling Protected Mode through the registry: download, unzip, then run the registry script https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/49eeb48b-07c5-4502-984c-8a25259914fa

  • The acrobat reader that is running cannot be used to view PDF files in a browser

The subject says it all. I'm unable to open a link to a pdf file.
I'm using Mozilla on a Win 2000 machine.
Version 8.1.2 worked fine. I see some people have reverted back to this version. Is that the only fix?

"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again."
    Here's the simple solution:
    1. Open Adobe 9
    2. Select Help on main Toolbar
    3. Select "Repair Adobe Reader Installation"
Yes, but make sure that all previous versions of Acrobat and Reader have been removed from your computer.
I had on Vista Acrobat Reader 5 and 9 because sometimes was problem with printouts in duplex on Acrobat Reader version 7,8 and 9.
You can have more then one version of adobe reader on your computer.
I had to uninstall this Acrobat Reader 5 and select Repair Adobe Reader Installation on Adobe Reader 9.3.3 version.
    Success.

And, did you do that?  The message will no longer occur once you opened Adobe Reader & accept the EULA.

  • Why does IE crash when opening a pdf file ?

Why does IE crash when opening a pdf file ?

I think this is done by the browser when it is saving a temporary file and there's already a file with that exact name in the temp folder.

  • Adobe reader hanging for a few seconds after opening, what's the cause?

Hello, I have the following problem: I open a pdf file in Adobe Reader and initially it woks fine, I can navigate and so on, but after about 20 s it suddenly gets like frozen so that I can do nothing but wait until when after about 15 s it recovers and I can continue reading and moving around. It is just an annoyance since it happens every time I open a document. I have installed several actualizations (icluding the last one) of the program but the problem is still there. It is like if some conflictive process starts shortly after the openning and after it finnishes the program works fine again. I have looked in the tasks administrator to see if I find some parallel process that may start itself but as far as I can see nothing more starts after AcroRd32.exe.
    Some idea?
    Thank you in advance

If you have a packet sniffing tool like Fiddler or Wireshark, could just see if Reader is trying to access something on network?

  • How do I stop my Reader version 11.0.1 from crashing when opening any PDF file?

I've had this problem since yesterday and it started very suddenly but now I cannot view any of my files because the reader crashes after a few seconds. I cannot use the app at all, please help!
The files I'm trying to view on my reader are not new, meaning that they used to work just fine without causing the reader to crash. So I don't think that is the problem.
I've also already checked that I have plenty of space on my iPad so the problem shouldn't be related to memory either.
The next step, I guess, would be to remove and reinstall the app but then I'll lose all my neatly organized files.
The reader is version 11.0.1 and my iOS is version 7.0.4.
I'd appreciate any help I can get because this app is what I mainly use my iPad for and, as I said, now it's not working at all.

Try resetting your iPad: Hold down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time. Keep holding them down until you see the Apple logo, then let go. Reopen Reader.

  • Is there a way to have the thumbnail pane automatically open when opening a pdf file?

I'm using Adobe Reader X and I would like to have the thumbnail preview automatically open when opning a pdf file. I know there is a setting to remember view layouts but this is set for the currently open document and not in general. Thanks in advance,
    Regards
    Robert

A particular file can have this setting, so each time you open it you see the thumbnails. The bad news is:
    - this would have to be changed per file
    - this requires the Acrobat product, not just the free Reader.

  • I am always prompted when opening a pdf file

I have tried all the fixes listed on the help site and I always get prompted as to how to open a pdf file. I have Acrobat Pro 6.0 and Acrobat Reader 10. I uninstalled and reinstalled reader 10.
I can set the application tab for pdf files to Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox), but everytime I click on a pdf file I am prompted as to what application I want to use to open the file. The only option I have is "Acrobat 6.0 (default)", or save file.
I have deleted the mime file and the plugin.dat file with no help.

Thank you for the reply. I had tried all the suggestions in the viewing pdf files section of the help. I also deleted the prefs.jr files and it did not fix the problem.
I am attaching the two dialog snap shots to help explain what my problem is.
The first is the application setting showing Adobe in Firefox as the setting I have selected. The second is the prompt I receive everytime I try to view a pdf file by clicking on it.

  • When openning a PDF file, a new tab will open but it will be blank, it does not download or open any pdf files, this just started the last 3 days....!!!!

    Hi,
I am on the verge of deleting Firefox from my computer as it has wasted hours of my time, and none of the online trouble-shooting answers are of any help.
Until recently I could open PDF files in my browser window, and today its impossible to open any pdf file, it will not even download if I choose to download it.
This issue has been going on and off for nearly a year, and I downloaded Nitro PDF add-on to solve it previously as the Adobe reader add-on didn't do anything. Today In the options menu of applications where I can select the program I want to open the PDF files with I can no longer find the NitroPDF reader as an option, so I choose the Adobe add-on and no matter how many re-starts it refuses to initiate any PDF files, all I get is a open and empty new tab.
Internet explorer opens PDF files fine, so I know its not computer related.
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate, Firefox Version 19.0.
If there is a way of fixing this, please help because currently I am at the end of my patience.
    Regards,
    Emre

Hey thanx for the help, it worked like a charm.
I think firefox changed the application lay out, as I used to be able to choose my PDF opener from the list at " Adobe Acrobat Forms Document' where I could choose Nitro-PDF reader, but it has now moved all the way to the bottom like you suggested to the obvious place of "Portable Document Format" section.
If someone didn't tell me , I wouldn't have scrolled all the way down to be able to find it... it really should be with all its cousins up the top...
    Cheers again..

  • Bug in Preview in Snow Leopard when opening multiple pdf files at once

I receive 50-200 pdf files by e-mail each day. I have historically saved the pdf attachments to a folder, then selected all the pdf files in the folder (CMD A), then opened all the selected files in Preview (CMD O). After updating to Snow Leopard, downloading 34 pdf files to a folder, selecting them all, then attempting to open them all in Preview (using both CMD O, then File/Open, then File/Open With), the effort first opens 6 of the 34 files. Closing all then trying again results in 7 files being opened, closing all then trying again results in 8 files being opened, etc etc. Earlier today I had the same results, but eventually got a message asking if I wanted to open all in separate windows (I did) or a single window, and it opened all the files at once as I wanted. After shutting down, moving home, and receiving additional pdf files, however, back to the same open 5, then open 6, etc. problem. Anyone else having this problem or a suggestion on how to resolve?
    Thanks for suggestions,
    B

More info - apparently the bug isn't related to Preview, but to the attempt to open all pdf files in the folder with ANY program. After having Preview open 25 of the 34 files I was attempting to open, I then tried opening all 34 with Adobe Reader. It opened 26 (after Preview had opened 25). Tried again with Preview - it opened 27, then 28 with Adobe Reader. It doesn't necessarily open the FIRST 25 (or 26, etc) either, so it's difficult to work with the open ones, then go back and work with the remaining ones later.

  • Errors when opening any PDF file

Can't find a bytecode file to load.
    InitializeFormsTrackerJS is not defined
    1:App:Init
    ReferenceError: InitializeFormsTrackerJS is not defined
    1:App:Init
From the Javascript console I get the above whenever I open any PDF file from Acrobat XI Pro.
    I'm at version 11.0.7.
Where is the source of this problem ?
A search for InitializeFormsTrackerJS shows no hits in the Javascript folder.

    The folder is Acrobat\Javascripts
    Repair your Acrobat installation.
