Acrobat Reader Version 9

> Acrobat Reader Version 9

  • Error:  Adobe Acrobat Reader version 8 or 9 is required.

I have windows XP and I recently installed a 9 version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.  Since then a receive the following error message: "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser.  Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required."  I had installed the 9 version.  Any idea why this is happening or more importantly, what should I do to fix it?

    Lulu,

  • Does OSX do "backward compatibility to Acrobat Reader version 6"?

I need to prepare a PDF file from my Pages document, and it required to provide "backward compatibility to Acrobat Reader version 6." Apparently this is something Acrobat Distiller can do but I don't have that app. How can I get Pages to make such a PDF file, or how can I convert the one Pages makes to that format? (I looked at ColorSync Utility but didn't see anything relevant among its PDF filters.)
Quick advice would be very much appreciated!

Which can be worked around. [PDF/X Problems in Leopard|http://pagesfaq.blogspot.com/2009/01/pdfx-problems-in-leopard.html]
You have to use cmd + P when creating PDF files from Pages with this new option.

  • Program Workspace for Specific Acrobat Reader Version

I am using LC ES 8.0.
Is there a way to program Workspace to use a specific version of Reader? I want it to open Acrobat Reader version 8 or higher.
We have a few problems with some other older software that several hundred users are using and it requires them to use Acrobat Standard v6. I want to push Reader 8 to everyone and can specify that Standard or Pro are default if available but I want to make Workspace specifically use Reader version 8 or higher.
Does anyone know if this can be done programatically in Workspace?
    Thanks,
    John

Once way to do it is if the process you are invoking uses the Render PDF Form, or a custom Render process that includes the renderPDFForm operation (from the Forms service), you can change a setting using the Acrobat Version property to Acrobat and Adobe Reader 8 or later.
You can get more details about the renderPDFForm operation and the Acrobat Version property at http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/8.2/wb_help/000614.html.
    Hope that helps!

  • Acrobat Reader Versions and saveAs, exportXFAdata Problems

We use generate Forms with Reader Extension Save enabled.
The forms are then opened within Acrobat Reader. In the onClose Event a Script called "saveXMLData" is called. This script is install in the javascript folder of the reader installation.
    The script :
    var saveXMLData = app.trustedFunction(function(doc)
         app.beginPriv();
         doc.saveAs({cPath:"/c/windows/temp/savedForm.pdf",
              bCopy: true,
              bPromptToOverwrite: false });
         doc.exportXFAData({
              cPath:"/c/windows/temp/savedForm.xml",
              bXDP:false
         app.endPriv();
         return;
Using Acrobat Reader 7, eveything worked fine.
Using Acrobat Reader 9 "saveAs" crashes the Application after the document is saved and the filled in Data is not saved.
Without the saveAs function, at least the export File is generate but the data that where filled in are missing.
Using Acrobat Reader X "saveAs" crashes the Application as well. Leavin out the saveAs function, the export File is generated as expected. Thus the filled in data values are saved.
Using Acrobat X Pro everything works as with Acrobat Reader 7.
Our Problem is that the customer uses Acrobat Reader 9. Are there expected incompatibilities with the different versions. Does anybody know any workarounds, settings?
By the way disabling extended security does not help.
    Thanks
    Max

It cannot be a problem of the installation, because at least Windows 7
was a fresh install with nothing but Reader additionally installed.
By the way, what do you mean by "risky", I followed straight the
documentation from Adobe, where one is allowed to place function calls
    requiring a privileged context.
Have you any better idea where to place the call to save? It must be
called automatically, when the User closes the window, no additional
    interaction is possible.
One other thing is the call to exportXFAData, have you any idea why
there is a difference in behavior between reader version 7 / 10 and 9?
I wrote that in version 9 the user entered data is missing.

  • Help: RenderAtClient vs different Acrobat Reader versions

    Hi,
I'm used to LC 7.2, Designer 7.0 and Reader 7.x and they all work fine initially. After Reader 8.x on some client PCs were introduced, the following conflict is encountered:
If I turn on RenderAtClient=true/auto and viewed by Reader 8.1, the layout of the resultant PDFForm becomes a mess; possibly this is due to the fact that my templates are developed using Designer/Professional 7.
If I turn on RenderAtClient=false, the above mess layout can be resolved but some of the client-side javascripts do not work properly, e.g. cannot hide/show sub-forms and form objects interactively.
I have hundreds of these forms built by Designer 7 and therefore it is not possible to redevelop within a reasonable time. Appreciated when somebody could offer help. Thanks so much.

  • [Developer] How to RELIABLY get Acrobat Reader Version info from registry

    (Using Wise Installation system 9.02)
First, we get the path from here:
    SOFTWARE\Classes\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe
if it is not found, we get it from here:
    SOFTWARE\Classes\Applications\AcroRD32.exe\shell\Read\command
and if it is still not found, we get it from here:
    SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\AcroRd32.exe
Then we check the version info for the file AcroRd32.exe that is
located in one of those directories and compare it to the version
we are installing; if it is less, we install the version included
    in our setup package.
Now, is this the most RELIABLE way to do this?
Should we just search for the file and get it's version info?
What if you have > 1 version of Reader installed?
What if you have Full Acrobat installed?
Is there also a way for Reader installation to NOT change the
PDF file association from Full Acrobat?

If you look at our current process, you'll see that we are checking
for multiple versions. However, there have been times when our version
installed over a later version and we cannot understand why this
happened that is why I'm addressing this here to see if anyone had
any "fool-proof" way to do it.
I know I can also check the PDF association but it may be set to Acrobat
and we do not want to modify that. We just want to check the latest
version of Reader they have installed against the one we have in our
    package.

  • Acrobat 8 form not working when enabled in Reader version 7

We have a form that was created in version 8 of Acrobat. It was enabled and is not working the same in some of our regional offices as it does in ours. Specifically there is a field that is allowing entry of 7 characters for users in our home office (all using Acrobat 7 or 8) and only 6 characters for users in one of our regions who are using Acrobat Reader version 7. Any idea what setting they have to change or what we have to do to enable the form so it works properly?
    Thanks for the help!
    Ken K.

The error message is "Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records". I'm not really sure how to make an older version of pdf, but if we do this, won't the forms created in version 8 not work properly? Right now our IT folks are having the users start Business Tools to open the older forms and Reader 8 to open the new forms. The trouble with this is that the users aren't familiar with opening applications. They typically double click the file they want which is launching Acrobat 8.
Please let me know what you think.
    Thanks again for the help!

  • Which versions of Acrobat reader supports embedded Flash content?

I was wondering which versions of Acrobat supports Flash files (or Flash content) that might be found embedded within PDF files?
Specifically, does version 6, 7 or 8 have this capability?

The wikipedia entry for Adobe Acrobat says this regarding Acrobat reader version 9:
"Insert FLV (Flash) or H.264 video for direct playback in Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader."
The way I read that, it says that the ability to handle pdf files with embedded flash content was introduced with Acrobat reader version 9, and did not exist in earlier versions of Acrobat reader.
So are you sure that older Acrobat reader versions (specifically, version 6) is capable of correctly handling flash content embedded within a pdf file?

  • Acrobat Reader X cant's save "old" PDF versions

I'm creating PDF documents in PDF Format 1.4 for compatibility reasons.
The published documents will be opened in Acrobat Reader. If the user is using Acrobat reader X and saves the document it will be stored in PDF Version 1.5.
These PDF 1.5 documents could not be managed in the following automated process steps.
    (That's why I'm creating PDF 1.4)
How can I keep the PDF version saving a document in Acrobat READER X.
    Regards
    J.B.

We know that Acrobat Pro or Standard can save version 1.4.
We have more than 30.000 computer installations worldwide.
This would be a good deal for adobe to install the acrobat product instead of the acrobat reader only for viewing pdf documents correctly ;-(((
For security reasons and new features we are forced to update the acrobat reader version
For compatibility reasons we should use old versions

  • Acrobat Reader does not recognise my printer

    Hello,
When I attempt to print a pdf document from adobe reader, my printer is not listed in the dropdown list of available printers.  I am therefore unable to print anything.  This issue only occurs with acrobat reader, all other windows applications recognise the printer and print fine.  The printer is connected via wifi.
I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer and the drivers, as well as acrobat reader.  I have restarted my computer.  The issue still persists.
My system information is as follows:
    Windows 8 64 bit pc
Epson WF-7515 with the latest drivers
    Acrobat reader version 11.0.0
    Any solutions are much appreciated
    Regards

I have the same problem. My Brother HL-1430 over USB connected to my Airport Express works perfectly. But via Time Capsule no way. I did all the deletion, re-install etc., but no success. I think the Time Capsule has still some problems to solve. What I did now:
I have connected my Airport Express via Ethernet (bridge mode) to my Time Capsule. I have my stereo and USB printer connected to Airport Express. My TC connects to the Internet. In addition I have an additional USB HD connected to TC for TC archiving and file sharing.
My MacBook connects to TC only. Now all works fine. I can use everything together at the same time (Internet, printing, music streaming, TimeMachine) without even having dropping bits when streaming sound in parallel.
Here I must say, that I would have long expected Apple to finally include Air Tunes into its base stations and TC. It's a bit of a joke that you still need to buy an additional Airport Express just to stream your music. Here marketing and product positioning at Apple goes too far and harms the concept of an easy and integrated solution.
