Acrobat Reader won't open

I previously had a trial version of Acrobat Reader which expired. I then purchased it and have the following issues when I try to open it. Clicking "Reopen" does not do anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jessicalang,
Please provide us the operating system details.
Did you try to license the trial version or simply reinstalled it again?

Anand

  • Adobe Reader won't open

just posted a long question (1st time on this forum) & been sent here after creating a username - do I really need to re-type everything all over again or can someone there see it?
    just in case.....
Adobe Reader won't open - I eventually get a message saying there is no default mail client & telling me to run Outlook & set it as the default mail client (I'm not going to do that).  I then get a message saying that Adobe is not responding.  Uninstalled & re-installed & problem persists.

Since you mention Outlook, I assume that you are on Windows.  Here are some things to try...
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

There are multiple problems with these forums, and unfortunately things like that happen all the time (to all of us).

  • Acrobat Pro won't open, how do I restore it?

My Acrobat Pro won't open, how do I restore it?

Yes, updates run each time I reinstall Bill.
On one forum, it was suggested to download Adobe cleaner.  I ran it every time before reinstalling.  Adobe XI Pro works after that, but is so unstable.  Cant figure out what triggers it to stop launching.

  • Adobe reader won't open on iPad after recent update

After most recent update, adobe reader won't open on my iPad. I have lots of docs that I need to get to. Please help.

This forum is probably the best you can do. We're now on the weekend, and Adobe engineers don't work 24/7. When they return on Monday and see the reports, they'll work to fix it. The update will need to be submitted to Apple and then approved for an update.
Note that there are other apps on the App Store which can read PDFs.

  • Adobe reader won't open, even after re-download

adobe reader won't open because of error - NEED PDF READER NOW!!!!!!!!!

The reason is Adobe has not updated there software yet to play well with Mavericks. The fault is of course with the Adobe Software. I suggest you go to there web site and see if they have a fix yet for there software, If not all you can do is continue to check back with them or get on there fourms and see what others have to say about this same issue.

  • Reader won't open docs. mac. error message.

Reader won't open any docs.  Error message "Adobe Reader could not open (file name) because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged . . . ."  Mac system 10.7.5.

Ok, it's probably how you save the files.
DON'T use Save from the File menu in Safari
DON'T use any save icon in a safari toolbar
    Use only
    1. Right/ctrl click on a link to a PDF BEFORE showing it, save from the pop-up menu (no good if the PDF comes from a button, and in some other cases)
    2. Hover to get the ADOBE toolbar and save from that.

  • Reader won't open after install - Macbook Air, Chrome

Hello, After downloading the reader (seemingly successfully), it won't open. Downloaded via Chrome OSX on a brand new Macbook air. Adobe's help section advised redownloading the program again. When I did so, I received this message after going through all steps (including deleting the original download from the computer). Have tried a few times now, with same result:
When I click on the installer on my desktop, it repeats the exact process described above. Any ideas?

    Hi laurenr67230747,
You indicated that Reader won't open, so it sounds like you did get it installed (as indicated by the message in the installer as well). What happens when you try to launch Reader? Do you receive an error, or does nothing happen when you try to open it?
Have you tried removing Reader before running the installer again?
    Best,
    Sara

  • Acrobat reader doesn't open automatically anymore

    Hello,
since my last update to READER 8, Acrobat reader doesn't open automatically on clicking on a PDF file anymore. When I download a PDF file for opening it doesn't work either. I need to "open with Acrobat Reader 8" to succeed. I tried to update to Reader 9 and have the same problem. So now I need to first download and Save on my HD the PDF file and then open with Reader 9 to open it.
Could you please telle me how to come back to the old way to open my files just by clicking on them.
    Thanks
    Boze

To solve the pesky file association problem after installing a new Adobe Acrobat Reader software program in Windows XP, try this:
    1. RIGHT-CLICK on the icon of the older problem pdf file that youre trying to open.
    2. A menu window will appear. In this window, click open with.
    3. Another menu window will appear listing most of the programs on your had drive. If you have installed a new Acrobat Reader, it should be there. Click ONLY ONCE (do not double-click) on it to highlight it.
    4. In the same window, near the bottom -- but NOT in the list of programs -- there is box labeled Always use the selected program to open this kind of file. Click on this box.
    5. Click OK.
This should solve the problem for ALL Adobe Reader pdf files on your hard drive.
    Hope this helps!

  • Why does acrobat reader crash upon opening in iMac os 10.10.1

why does acrobat reader crash upon opening in iMac os 10.10.1

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • Adobe reader won't open PDF file

I have Adobe Reader 9 and Windows 8 on a Dell computer. When I try to open a PDF file from a website it sends me to my Library on my computer and won't open the file. If I try to open a PDF file from my Desktop, it opens OK. What can I do to fix this?

Do you use Firefox' own PDF viewer, or the Adobe Reader plugin?  See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

  • Acrobat just won't open...

Adobe Acrobat 8.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I keep getting that pop up error every time I try to open it.  I've uninstalled all Adobe related software and reinstalled...still won't open.

Something changed since the last time you used Acrobat.  It is just a matter of figuring out what it is.  Windows updates?  Do you have restore points so you can roll it back to when you know it was working?

  • Acrobat 11 won't open

I have downloaded and installed Acrobat XI Pro three times in Windows 8.1. I purchased the monthly subscription at 19.99/month ... The software opens 1x, and then won't open again no way no how. What a pain! I have written to Adobe about it once before ... No answer.

Did you sign into Acrobat after you started it? I am not sure about the process for the subscription service, but the login seems to be required. You could also try a repair and then do the updates.

  • Acrobat Reader won't print

I installed OS 10.6 and now 10.6.1. Acrobat Reader 8 wouldn't print. Installed Acrobat Reader 9. Won't print. Canon MP530 printer gives this error message: "Unable to open raster stream. No such file or directory." No problem previously, with 10.5 and Acrobat Reader 8.

Solved my own problem; read the solution here:

Hope it works for all of you with different printers. The issue seems to be in the printer drivers, though.
