  • SWF Export, no font showing in Acrobat and zoom border problem (Acrobat & Reader) - Indesign CS6

    Hi Everyone,
If anyone could help me on this that would be great, I've spent hours on the forums and manuals to no avail.
I'm making an interactive PDF brochure in Indesign for one of our new products and I'm having issues (actual or perceived??!!) with the SWF export and PDF creation.  I'm placing animations and video in the INDD, exporting it as an SWF (with the text option as Flash Classic Text) and then opening the SWF (not importing to a word doc or anything, just opening the SWF) with Acrobat using the advanced options to import the video resources and to enable the content when the page is opened.  I then save the file as a PDF.  In the PDF everything works as it should, the animations, the buttons, the video plays and so on.  Great.. hmm not quite.
The trouble I am having is that all the content of the SWF when viewed in Acrobat seems to be getting rasterised/flattened - is this correct?  After the SWF is opened, Acrobat indicates no fonts in the fonts tab in the document properties so when the SWF is zoomed in Acrobat, or the saved PDF in Reader, the font gets pixelated and the document is not searchable/text can not be highlighted.  The images are not selectable either - it is as if the entire page has been flattened to one image.  Is there a way to stop this so that the SWF opened with Acrobat retains the font and individual images like a normal PDF?  Do I have to open the SWF in Flash first to set some parameters or something?  Is there something I am doing wrong when exprting the SWF from Indesign?  I think I have tried about every possible export combination.  When I open the .HMTL (exported at the same time as the SWF from Indesign) in a browser, the same happens.  All the animations work but the text appears to be rasterised/flattened/not searchable.  Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology.
I have tried importing the SWF back into another new INDD and exporting that as an interactive PDF but then the video does not work.  I suppose I could try exporting all the individual animations as SWFs, importing them all and trying to get them to work with the video but I can see that will take quite some time and does not seem to be a guaranteed solution from what I have read on the forums - video playback being the issue.
Another problem is that when the SWF, or saved PDF, is zoomed in Acrobat/Reader between approx 150% and 210% a thick white border appears in the document and the content is squashed into the middle creating a slightly pixelated and narrow page.  When I zoom out from the page I get a small white line on the right hand border at around 70% zoom.  Please see images.  Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
On another, sort of related topic, my timing panel went blank yesterday and was not showing any animations in documents that it had been used to order and synch animations on page load as well as new documents.  The panel was blank.  I updated to V8.0.1 and the panel sprang back into life - hope that helps anyone else finding the same problem.
I am not very familiar with Indesign/Acrobat/Flash so I guess all the above could be what I'm doing or I could be asking  really dumb questions - apologies from a newbie.
    Best,
    Emily

    Hi All,
I have now pretty much solved all the issues by creating the SWF in Flash rather than Indesign.  I would advise anyone looking to create an interative PDF with animation and interactivity to go with Flash from the start.  While Flash is a little more involved to create the same effects as Indesign, the extra time taken will ensure a more controllable and better looking PDF in terms of text quality, scalability and so on.  Plus you will not spend days trying to get video to work along side imported SWF etc in Indesign.  One of the best controls in Flash is being able to set the stage.scaleMode for the document so the PDF still looks crisp when zooming, no white borders etc.  So, create the .fla, export to .SWF, open the .SWF with Acrobat, modify the advanced settings to enable start on page load and save as a PDF.  If you don't know Flash, I didn't a couple of days ago, watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube.. buttons, tweens, embedding video and you'll be ready.  Don't be put off by ActionScript, there are really handy Code Snippets in CS6 that do all the heavy lifting for you.
    Sorry Indesign!
    Best,
    Em

  • Acrobat Reader will not open scanned files

Since upgrading to Adobe Reader X, I have been unable to view any documents scanned with my Lexmark printer/scanner.
Until now, I have scanned documents to a PDF in the following manner:
    -  I Press Scan mode on Printer/Scanner
    -  Printer/Scanner downloads Application List
    -  I choose "Scan to Acrobat Reader" and press Start to begin
    -  Printer/Scanner screen says "Scanning to Acrobat Reader" as document scans & "Scanning Completed" when it finishes
    -  Message box displays on Computer screen that says "adding image"
    -  ABBYY FineReader 6 Plus progression meter is displayed on Computer screen until document is 100% processed.
    -  PDF file of the scanned document opens on Computer screen by Acrobat Reader
Since upgrading to Adobe Reader X, everything works the same except the final step.  I am unable to view the PDF, and therefore I am unable to save the document.  Does anyone know of any settings in Adobe Reader X that I need to adjust so that Adobe could work the same as the earlier version and create a PDF of a scanned document?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jay

I never did get a response to my original post, but I would like to share with others what I did to finally fix the problem.
The problem I described in my original post was with a Lexmark x4580 printer.
I removed Adobe X from my PC and downloaded previous versions of Adobe reader until I found one that worked.  It turned out that Adobe Reader 7 worked.  I was able to scan a document from my Lexmark x4580 printer and Adobe 7 opened the document on my PC in a PDF.
I hope this info helps out anyone having a similar problem.
    Take care and God bless,
    Jay

  • Unable to Print After Installing Adobe Acrobat Reader Upgrades.

. What software version of Abobe Acrobat Reader should be used for an HP PhotoSmart Plus printer? I currently have Adobe version  9.3 installed. I receive pop-up notices to install new Adobe Acrobat Reader software upgrades. I have installed the software upgrades and then my HP PhotoSmart Plus printer was unoperational. I deleted the Adobe software upgrades and my HP PhotoSmart Plus printer began to operate. I contacted HP technical support and was told there is no compatibility issues between Adobe Acrobat Reader and HP All-in-One Products. It might be a problem with the specific Adobe software upgrades. HP requested that I contact Adobe support for problem resolution. Has this problem ever happened to you? Any problem resolutions would be appreciated.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @Oldchev
I understand you cannot print, after installing your Officejet 7410 All in One  printer.
Please let me know the following, and I'll do my best to help!
What is the Operating System of the computer?
Have you tested hardware functionality (made copies)?
Have you tried printing from different programs?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software?
What Firewalls and Anti-virus software are installed?
Have you tried disabling or uninstalling them?

  • Acrobat Pro versus Acrobat Reader

    Hi
I apologize about this very basic question. However, a Google search failed to return an answer, so I am asking it here.
I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 installed on my Windows 7 (64-bit) machine, as part of the Adobe CS4 package. I keep all Adobe products (including Acrobat) updated to the latest versions/patches.
My question concerns viewing PDF documents in my web browser, such as Firefox or Chrome. I am concerned about some of the vulnerabilities in Acrobat Reader (and Acrobat Pro), which allow the introduction of malware by viewing PDF documents on the web.
So, specifically, I would like to know:
    1. Since I already have Acrobat Pro installed, I don't really need Acrobat Reader, do I? Under Control Panel > Installed Programs on my computer, I do not see Acrobat Reader installed, and yet I am able to view PDF documents in my browser. I am assuming this is because Acrobat Pro includes a reader, and this is what is invoked by the browser when it encounters a PDF document. Am I right in thinking this?
    2. I wanted to turn OFF javascript in the Acrobat Reader. Again, since I don't seem to have Acrobat Reader installed, I turned it off in Acrobat Pro (this is again for security reasons, to avoid some exploits which use javascript inside the Acrobat Reader). Will turning off javascript inside Acrobat Pro also turn it off in whatever software my browser is using to display PDFs?
    Thanks.

    You seem to be covered.
No, if you have Acrobat, you don't need Reader plus, it is a non-recommended nor supported setup. They have issues with each other when they are both installed on the same machine.
Will turning off javascript inside Acrobat Pro also turn it off in whatever software my browser is using to display PDFs?
    Thanks.
Yes. Your browser is using Acrobat Pro to view the PDF.

  • Acrobat/ reader issue

Hi, I`m using Acrobat to make a large portfolio (about 3 gig) involiving tiff pages of textg and films, but when I click on the Acrobat inserted links when viewing the file in Reader, the screen goes blank blank back to the top menu bar: any ideas as to what Im doing wrong?
(plus Ive posted previously regarding Adobe stuff ie After Efffects+my yet to be understood Flash, but my computer went down; anyone who replied to my posts+ didnt get a response, I can only apologize; believe me I work in Sales so I know every little cookie can help sometimes)

Have you tried creating a smaller version of your Portfolio to see if the links work properly in Reader X?  They are working for me in a basic Acrobat 9 Portfolio opened in Reader X with links in one PDF linking to a place in another.
Can you share a little bit more about the structure of your Portfolio?  How many files, what types, files in folders, how many folder levels deep, things like that?
I would recommend testing it out with a smaller (20MB) version of your Portfolio to see how it goes.  If you find that it works in the "simple" version and not the large one I would log a bug: The form for bug reports can be found here https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&promoid=E WQQL
Using Acrobat 9 along with Reader X is perfectly fine and this functionality should be compatible between the versions (there are things that are not, but this should work), if the links are not working in Acrobat/Reader X it would be a bug.
    Thanks,
    Josh

    Merci d'avance !

    Hello,
Thx to help me with my problem.
I have the last version of the software, downloaded yesterday to be sure it is not an issue because of a version out of date.
Here are (in french) the two messages that the software gives me as an final answer just before closing the application :
Font Capture: AcroRd32.exe - Image incorrecte
    Font Capture: AcroRd32.exe - Erreur d’application
    L’exception Exception logicielle inconnue (0xc06d007e) s’est produite dans l’application à l’emplacement 0x75222f71.
I tryed to install other Adobe products, as trial, but it also fails when I launch them, so I uninstalled everything.
I am sure my computer is not infected, I just scanned everything yesterday with a professional, cleaned it up with pre_scan, malwarebytes, Ccleaner, etc. Nothing ! So the pb is probably the atmlib.dll, which I cannot replace because of administration rights of TrustedInstaller... I tryed to give myself the rights back, but it doesn't work...
    What should I do ?

  • Récupérer page active du PlugIn Acrobat Reader en JS

    Bonjour,

NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup. If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.

  • Comment effacer l'utilitaire "Adobe acrobat Reader installer" ?

    Bonjour,

    Adobe Reader : http://get.adobe.com/fr/reader/
    Cordialement,

  • Do we need to purchase Adobe Acrobat before we purchase FormsCentral Plus to get its full capabilit?

Do we need to purchase Adobe Acrobat before we purchase FormsCentral Plus to get its full capability?

Acrobat lets you created PDF forms that can be used with FormsCentral, and Acrobat 11 comes with the desktop version of the FormsCentral designer application, which can create PDF forms. Acrobat does not include a subscription to the FormsCentral service, so that is separate, but it does come with Acrobat Plus: https://www.acrobat.com/acrobatplus/en/home.html
Acrobat is not included with a FormsCentral subscription and you do not need it for the full capabilities of FormsCentral.

We are getting the following error "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader. if it is running please exit and try again. Once the user logs back in, the pdf will appear. However it occurs anywhere from 2-8 times in a day. Anyone else having this issue or know of another workaround? Any suggestion with how to fix? Please help!!

    Hi Valerie,
Please let me know the version of Adobe Acrobat/Reader & operating system installed on your computer?
    Also, try this:-
    Launch Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
From the menu, choose Edit -> preferences -> General
Uncheck the option for "Enable Protected Mode at startup"
Restart the Adobe Reader and web browser.
