Acrobat reader X unable to display flash content (swf) why?

Basically we have a OBIEE dashboard page which has some flash content and we also have the ability to download/ export this swf file into PDF
when i try to export it and save it  to my local machin the pdf file opens but it just shows an empty page with the SWF placeholder nor does it play the movie.
My system config:
Windows 7
Flash player 10 debugger version
Adobe acrobat reader X version 10.0.0.0
But when i do the same on my  friends laptop it works fine..
(he has similar configurations but Dell laptop and both connecting to same server to download pdf)
WHY is this happening and how do i resolve this?
HELP PLEASE!

  • Lightbox to display Flash content (swf) examples?

I want to use lightbox to display Flash video player.  I would like to have lightbox load a page that has SWFObject code for displaying the Flash content.  This page with the Flash content and SWFObject will have certain paramters and vars.  Does anyone know of an example or tutoral for doing this?
    Thanks!

I don't believe the Lightbox script was designed to handle this without modification to the source code.  I think what you would be better looking into is a modal window and then you could use Jquery event handlers and load effects to that.
For an easy to set up modal window I would recommend looking at the JQuery UI Project ( http://jqueryui.com/ ).  The dialog ( http://jqueryui.com/demos/dialog/ ) should be what you are looking for.  See the "Animated Dialog" link on the right of the demo to see how to load effects on the event handlers.  The source code will show you what you need to know.

instead of using Lightbox, try using Fancy-Box:

Look for the example called "Swf" under "Various Examples"  It's a text hyperlink demonstrating Flash with ActionScript 3.0

  • Acrobat Reader 9 does not display Type 3 fonts correctly

Acrobat Reader 9 does not display Type 3 fonts correctly for quite a few of our older, PDF version 1.2 PDF files in our products, where normal Acrobat or Digital Editions show no such problem. It only shows the bottom part of the glyphs but then shifted to the top of the glyph area.

Hmm, this cannot be, as this is legacy material from 1997. There is no way that this can be changed using Type 1 or OTF fonts other than retypesetting everything from scratch, I fear, and that will be just too much expensive work. Interestingly, Acrobat Reader 8 and the latest Adobe Digital Editions display these PDFs correctly, so I have no alternative other than assume that the changes in the font rendering mechanism in Reader 9 are responsible for this. I am checking these files with Acrobat 9 Professional shortly...

  • 39L4333DG - cannot display Flash content in web browser

    Hello,
When I try to access Flash sites the web browser shows 'Missing plugin' in the frame where flash player should display the content.
    Am I omitting anything?
I have installed the latest firmware: 7.1.90.34.01.1.
For a 2013 TV it is annoying not to have a full featured web browser on a SMART TV.
Is there any chance to have a full web browser in the next firmware version?
    Thank you.

When I had similar problems the response from Toshiba was that the browser is only intended for limited use. My problem was not being able to access any site which required a password. Not rocket science you would think!

  • How to display Flash Content uploaded in Admin Console

    HI All ,
I have created a flash content in the admin console.Flash file is uploaded to a binary property.
I have to display that flash file in the JSP.
Normally , a Image can be displayed in the JSP , with following tag,
    *<img src="<%=request.getContextPath() + "/ShowProperty" + node.getPath()+"//Brochure-Image"%>" />*
But how to display a flash content uploaded in the admin console.
Pls suggest me in this regard,
    Srinivas

There is no wlp tag to display flash image. You have to use HTML object tag for this. Just google it and you will find lot of answer how to include flash file in your JSP.
Either you pass a path to your repository or save the file somewhere on you local drive and use that path.

Flasher Player should be listed as a plugin in tools for it to work?

  • Unable to display the Content of a data file from within another data file in Oracle webcenter portal.

We have a Content Presenter taskflow. This task flow is added to a jspx page. The taskflow fetches the content from the contributor data file. The contributor data file is having a WYSIWYG editor. The content of the WYSIWYG editor is being displayed correctly through the task flow.
We have some links in the WYSIWYG editor. These links again point to some data files. When we click on these links from within the portal, then we are getting a blank page(the url of this blank page is: http://localhost:7101/eWSIBPortal/faces/oracle/webcenter/sitestructure/render.jspx?datasource=UCM%23dDocName%3AWSIB_ARTICLE) and not displaying the content of the data file that we are pointing to from the WYSIWYG editor.
We want to display the content of these data files(which we have pointed from WYSIWYG editor) in-line within the portal.
Please help us to resolve this issue and let us know if any information is required from our end.

Thanks for reply. However, can I use XSQL to dump the formated text to a file? or just can display to client through web browsers?

  • Get IE8 to display Flash content

Does anyone have a bullet proof method for embedding Flash content so that it shows in all flavors of IE8 WITHOUT having the user change settings on their machine?
I'm working on a project that was tested by a couple of people who could see the content then click on a link in the Flash content which loads a URL in the same page THEN when they hit the back button in their IE browser the Flash content doesn't show.
I was using SWFObject to embed but have switched to a simple method shown below:
    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" id="cdbwidget" data="CDBabyStore_widget.swf?customerID=xhWv7J5EP8fi22rByrPcVg%3d%3d&byType=ByCustomer&si teURL=document.referrer&colorScheme=0x000000,0xE0E0E0,0xCCCCCC,0x666666,0x333333,0xFFFFFF, 0xFFFFFF" width="550" height="575">
        <param name="movie" value="CDBabyStore_widget.swf?customerID=xhWv7J5EP8fi22rByrPcVg%3d%3d&byType=ByCustomer&s iteURL=document.referrer&colorScheme=0x000000,0xE0E0E0,0xCCCCCC,0x666666,0x333333,0xFFFFFF ,0xFFFFFF" />
    </object>
I've tested this on Windows 7 running IE7, 8 & 9 and it works flawlessly but two people are having the issue I noted above.
    Thanks for any tips.

In a nutshell, if you've tested it and it works, it works. The two people who are having problems (there will probably be thousands more worldwide) have a setting in their Internet Options or in Windows that is causing the problem.
You might want to run this through the Flash and Dreamweaver forums as well to get some more insight from people who are more skilled at Flash integration and older browser compatibility.

  • Embedding Acrobat Reader (or other PDF Display) in OA Page

Hi, I have a scenario where I want the user to view a PDF in part of the page while they are keying in information on form fields in the rest of the page. Is something like this possible? I thought it might be possible to embed the Acrobat reader in an iFrame but I'm not sure what kind of support OA pages offer for that.
Also, if this is not possible, what about rendering the first page of the PDF to an image (TIFF or JPG) using PDF libraries and displaying that? Has anyone played with this?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
You can embed the PDF document inside the HTML o use and Inner Frame to render the PDF. Please check some examples (and explanation) in the following address:

    Hope this help,

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader DC - Unable to print a form

    Hi guys
I hope you can help me. I have just downloaded Acrobat Reader DC and I am currently trying to print a PDF. However, it won't print because it wants me to fill the form in first I'm printing it for my very technology allergic father in law, and I'm not sure what to do?
Does anybody have any tips or advice?
    Cheers
    Becky

    Dear

    Thanks,

  • Acrobat Reader is not properly displaying dynamic drop down when LiveCycle does

I have a sample file that loads a drop down menu from an xml file. This form works fine in the preview pane of LiveCycle. I see the values properly populated. When I attempt to load the same file with Acrobat Reader the drop down menu shows up empty. I have saved the document as a Dynamic PDF. This happens with both Reader 8.0 and 7.0 on two different machines. Am I doing something wrong? Is this a known issue?

How are you merging the data to the form before viewing in Reader? Using the Preview in Designer allows you to pass xml data when rendering the PDF but when you save out a PDF Form from Designer the data is not part of the form. And without Reader extending the form (or using Acrobat Pro) you have no way of pulling in the xml data so that the drop down can populate.

  • Flash player 10.1 installed but won't display Flash content

  • Unable to view Flash content after Norton Utilities scan

I ran a Norton Utilities scan yesterday, and afterwards various websites looked extremely strange in Firefox. Worse, I lost the ability to view embedded videos on such sites as the BBC, YouTube etc.
Further testing this morning shows that the problem isn't with ALL video content. There are SOME YouTube videos that I can view perfectly well, for example. And while I cannot view content in the MLB.com media player, some embedded video on the homepage seems to work fine.
I have updated my Flash plugin to the latest version and the Adobe website tells me it is working correctly. Any ideas what could be causing the problem? Did Norton Utilities delete some file that I actually needed? I have read some forum answers about other problems that suggest I should disable Norton scans with respect to the Firefox folder, and I will do that - but how do I fix the problem it has caused? I have tried a system restore to no avail.
I have Firefox 12 running on a Win7 x64 machine. And by the way, the 'weird-looking websites' problem mentioned above seems to have been fixed by reloading each one in turn.

Before using any of these 'cleaning' programs, I always save my Firefox and Thunderbird profiles (includes cookies, emails etc) using a freebie program MozBackup - mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/.
If your Firefox then gets cleaned out, you can easily recover it. You can also
get back profiles for as far back as you want, as long as you keep all the backups.
    Best wishes. CD

  • LAPTOP UNABLE TO DISPLAY WEB CONTENT CORRECTLY

I will try to be clear and brief.
I own the Satellite L675-S7048 laptop.  I utilize a makeover site in which you can upload your own picture and actually change your own hair color.  The problem is this:
On the Toshiba laptop with Windows 7, the "change your own haircolor" option doesn't work.  I thought it was a problem with the website.  My old HP Laptop with Vista, however, IS able to display the "change your hair color function".  My HP is over five years old, the Toshiba a year old.  Do I need to change a setting or upgrade something so the hair color function will work?  I don't understand why the function doesn't work on a new, up to date laptop, but does on an older one.
    Thanks,
    Fran

Please read below, then read this. UPDATE!  This is strange but *may* help solve the mystery for someone who is saavy on this.  The pictures that I uploaded and used the "change your hair color feature" on the OLD HP laptop WORK on the new Toshiba laptop!  The pictures that I uploaded onto the Toshiba laptop originally I cannot utilize the "change your haircolor feature" on it. I hope this is clear. Why is this happening??
I have tried using the site through Mozilla, IE and even AOL.  Doesn't work. I really think it's the computer.  Could it be the site works better in either XP or Vista? I think my old laptop has Vista. My new one, Win 7.  What about a different flash player download?  (Free of course).
Also, someone mentioned that I should be able to change Windows 7 to work as XP or Vista???  Is that true?  And how would I do that and then switch back to Win 7?
    Thanks.
