Acrobat Reader XI and Outlook 2003

After upgrading the Acrobat Reader on our Citrix-Servers with Windows 2003 and Outlook 2003, it is not possible to send pdf from Acrobat Reader via E-Mail. When we select the function to send the document per mail (with the default mail programm), the focus switches to Outlook (when started), but no mail with the pdf-file as attachment is opened.
On a system with Outlook 2007, there are no problems.
Is Acrobat XI not compatible with Outlook 2003 anymore? Is it a problem only in combination with Windows 2003 or Citrix?
Is anybody able to get this to work in a similar environment?
Thanks for any help.
Rgds.
Stefan

This is a known issue with Outlook 2003 and will be fixed in the next patch.

  • Locate link browser window in Windows 7 and Outlook 2003

Every time I click on a link in an email in Outlook, a "locate link browser" window appears.  There's a lot of help on the web to fix it for Win XP, but those steps don't appear to work for Windows 7.
Here are some URL's of what I've tried already:
     http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/821692
     http://www.slipstick.com/problems/firefox.htm
(Some of these link refer to the DDE options in the advanced settings, but in Windows 7, the Control Panel's "Set Associations" screen doesn't have any advanced options.)
The "locate link browser" window is asking for an exe file...  so, I pointed the "locate link browser" window to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplorer.exe" and the window isn't coming up anymore, but it just launches IE and my home page...  not the link that was in the email.  I also tried setting the default browser as Firefox (using the Control Panel's "Set Associations")  .  That works fine.  the links from Outlook emails open fine in Firefox, but when I switch the default browser for the HTTP protocol (using the Control Panel's "Set Associations")  back to IE, it goes back to launching IE and my home page and not the link that was in the email.
Any idea on how to resolve this?

My wife has a VAIO desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium and Outlook 2003... and I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 Professional and Outlook 2003.  I've never switched my default browser away from IE.  But her computer recently developed the Link
Browser issue and I suspect it occurred when one of our daughters switched association of the default browser to Chrome.  About a week ago, I switched it back to IE.  But the problem has continued.
    1) The .htm and .html associations on her computer are set to IE
    2) The default browser is back to IE
    3) The link in the preview pane of the email message does not work (it brings up Link Browser)
but if you "forward" the message into a message window and then use CTRL+left-click on the same hyperlink, the link works.
There must be secondary association coding that pertains only to the preview pane of Outlook 2003 which gets disrupted by the switch to another default browser... and which does not get reset when you revert to IE.
Does that help someone who can pinpoint the change needed to remove this annoying problem?

  • Problem for synchronizing calendars between my iPOD 30GB and OUTLOOK 2003

    Hello,
I arrive to synchronize my contacts between my iPOD and OUTLOOK 2003 via iTunes, but not the calendars.
    Thank you for your help

If you have EVER sync'd Outlook 2003 with a PDA then iTunes will throw an error when trying to sync Calendars.
    THE FIX:
    Delete all calendar entries
(an easy way to do this is in Calendar select VIEW > Arrange By > Current View > Events)
Then Delete all entries by highlighting them all right click and select delete!
NOTE: You may have to repeat VIEW > ARRANGE By > Current View > {other categories in list i.e. "Category" and/or "Annual Events" and/or "Recurring Appointments"} To find all the entries that need to be deleted.
Once all of the calendar data is deleted you can re-input the data, but you can never sync it with a PDA otherwise you will develop the original problem again.
WHY DOES THIS WORK? Simply when a PDA syncs with Outlook it places a unique hidden identifer on each entry which screws up iTunes ability to sync with your calendars.
Hope this is clear and helps someone.

    File file = new File("C:/" + filename);
    FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(file);

This call Error when I used browser Mozilla 2 and plugin adobe acrobat reader 8, but all work good, when I used adobe acrobat reader 7 and Mozilla 2.
    I need help.
    Have someone this problem?

    Hi,
did you search the Mozilla forum for this issue? I don't think that the JDeveloper 11 forum is the right place to post this problem if it is an Adobe/Mozilla issue

  • Hyperlink that contains backslash is not working in Acrobat Reader 8 and 9

    Hi,
Does anyone know why a hyperlink that contains backslash is not working in Acrobat reader 8 and 9?
I created a document in Indesign CS and it contains hyperlinks that open up files from network drive so they contain backslash (for example: c:\foder\forder\filename.jpg). All the hyperlinks work in Acrobat Reader 6 but not in Acrobat Reader 8 or 9.
Anybody could share the solution would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Did you ever figure this out? I am also having problems with the "No Hand" javascript which turns off the (not very helpful) page-forward hand icon (a hand symbol with a down arrow) which confuses our users when in fullscreen mode. We create interactive PDFs and everything worked fine up to Acrobat X/Reader X. Now in XI it doesn't allow the internal link icon (pointing finger) nor weblink icon (pointing finger with W) to appear. It just remains a plain o’ hand icon no matter what you mouse over even though there are links present.

  • Acrobat Reader DC and BabylonRPI.api

The above mentioned Adobe Reader plug-in BabylonRPI.api worked in the Adobe Reader 11 without any flaws. After having replaced version 11 with the new Acrobat Reader DC and having placed the Babylon plug-in,too, the Babylon function is no longer started by the respective command. I suppose BabylonRPI.api needs an adaptation to the new version. Does anybody know more about this topic?

Meanwhile Babylon has answered acknowledging that the BabylonRPI.api does not work with the new Acrobat Reader DC. They say, they are working on their plug-in to get it compatible with the new Adobe Reader.
Further notice as soon as Babylon presents its adapted plug-in.

  • Can not accept license after installing Acrobat Reader 8 and removing 6

    To whom it may concern,
after installing Acrobat Reader 8, removing Acrobat Reader 6, and starting Acrobat Reader 8 the license agreemnet window appeared as aspected. The problem is it displays everything as far as I can see correctly, but it is not working in any way. I have to close the windows by clicking on the white cross in the title bar. I then receive the message, that I did not accept the license and therefore Acrobat Reader will be closed. And that happens when I click ok.
Hopefully someone over here as a tip who I can proceed. Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Jochen

    Dear Claudio and Shari,
Liam's suggestions have been of value for me. The Acrobat Reader is up and running.
    Thank's!
    @Shari
I'm using Firefox as well. An the tip and tool form Liam helped.
Just give it a try. The Explorer is used by Windows for more than a simple browser.
    Best regards,

    Hi Bryan ,
It happens when you save it as an Adobe PDF or a normal PDF?
Happens with all the files or any specific one?
What exact version of Acrobat are you using?
Try updating it to the latest one if it is an older one.
You may also want to uninstall and re install it to check.
Let us know how it goes.

It doesn't matter what are the names of these forums. Major companies provide these *official* forums to harvest troubleshooting results of their products for free. You never be able to test your product on this number of various environment this much cheap.
Unlike their support services these "USER" forums provides them with those product issues they are looking for without ANY obligation to solve them or even accept their existence. And best of all they collect all these information at no cost.
However, in honest and considerate companies, development team members share their opinions with forum users. They even admit they are aware of issues but have no solution for them at this time. If team members do not have enough time for providing feedback, they somehow use *well-trained* individuals to discuss the issues.
Those companies do not "Read and Hide". They "read and discuss".
Anyway, unfortunatly, the links you found are not related to this discussion. They are about PDFMaker issue in other component of Office not Outlook.

  • Mail And Outlook 2003 issues

Very odd one I can't pin down. There are a few people when receiving mail from my 10.5 machine in apple mail receive the email as an attachment / html link.
I sent it to my machine no problems but to others it shows as this weird attachment / link. Any ideas how to solve this.
Receivers use outlook 2003 generally and my PC version is 2003 so don't know what the option is to stop this. They all receive HTML etc.
    Any ideas >

I have searched all over the net and I know it is probably an issue or setting with Outlook but though somebody may have seen this or at least know what is going on.
The email is sent but is just a link / attachment for Outlook users in the email body - no text etc. They have to open it up. Asked them to check for HTML settings.
    Anyone got any pointers.

  • Synch Calendars IPHONE and OUTLOOK 2003: Appointments 1 hour difference

I have an IPHONE 3G, Software 2.1. I´m in Brazil, Sao Paulo, DST on. To solve the problem of 1 hour difference when I synch calendars with my outlook 2003, I had to change the Time Zone Management in IPHONE to another city, in Brasil (Recife) wich doesn´t use DST. This is OK, but do I have to make this procedure everytime I have a DST change? Does anybody know how to fix it? Version 2.2 will correct this ?

I just noticed the same thing!! i had given up on syncing my iPhone with my work computer running Outlook (only syncing to iCal at home), and then with version 2.2 i hoped that it might work better.
just synced to Outlook, and all my appointments that were on the iPhone were set to one hour earlier. Outlook time zone is set correctly, with automatic adjustment for DST. my iPhone is set to Date & Time automatic. haven't played around with resetting to manual.
i ended up adjusting all the events that were incorrect in Outlook - moving them up an hour, resynced, and now every thing is an hour late!!!
may have to give up on syncing Outlook again, and just sync with iCal.

  • IPod as a conduit to sync iCal and Outlook 2003 with each other?

I am able to synchronize my work Outlook 2003 calendar and home Mac iCal with the iPod in two separate files on the iPod. I can see them both if I select "All". My questions are:
    1. What should I do to sync the PC and the Mac with the same file on the iPod?
    2. Is it possible to snychronize the iCal and Outlook with each other via the iPod?
    Thanks,
    Iris
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   PC/XP Pro

If you mount your iPod on your Mac, navgate to the iPod Calendars folder and double-click on an ics file it will import the calendar into iCal. So you can sync from the PC to the iPod to iCal uni-directionally. If Outlook 2003 can import an ics file then you should be able to sync the other way as well. However, in both cases you will essentially be copying over one calendar with another, not really synchronizing.

  • N70 and Outlook 2003 Contacts Synchronisation

I have the latest version of PC Suite (6.81.13.0) and have it set up to synchronise my Outlook 2003 Contacts, Calendar, and Notes in both directions between my new N70 and the PC, via a USB cable. I'm not in a position to try bluetooth yet. During the synchronisation, the Notes are read both ways and PC Suite seems to 'read' the Contacts and makes an attempt to write them from the PC to the phone (there are currently no Contacts on the phone as it's new), but then the Sync process aborts and I get 2 warning messages on PC Suite saying: "PC Sync could not update the data to the mobile phone." "PC Sync has encountered a problem and has terminated the synchronisation." I have also tried the process between my laptop and the phone using the same version of PC suite and the same thing happened. I manually entered a contact in the phone to see if it would be transferred to my Outlook Contacts on the PC and this worked fine. I can't update the Contacts through the phone broswer either - nothing happens. Everything seems to be set up ok, but the process aborts, giving the warning messages. Has anyone encountered the same problem, or can anyone suggest any solutions please? Thanks, Stephen

Since the phone is empty, you could try to reset to factory settings the phone by *#7370#. There is a risk that you loose your pictures and other data from phone, so make sure you make a backup to memory card or move manually all relevant data to PC first (if exists in phone)
