Acrobat Reader XI - doesn't start | let me accept EULA

Hi everybody.
I recently updated my Acrobat Reader X to Acrobat Reader XI (as standalone application). Since then (a week ago) I'm not able to open any PDF files: the program starts, but suddenly closes. I tried to uninstall-clean-install again, even downgrading to Acrobat Reader X again, but nothing happened.
Last time I tried to reinstall the latest version of Acrobat Reader XI, a pop-up window told me that the EULA display crashed.
How can I solve this problem? Any suggestion?
BTW I own a Windows 7 64-bit laptop.
Thank you!

Hi,
We need some more information to isolate the issue. Please let us know that
1. How did you install Reader X1 on your machine via http://get.adobe.com/reader/ or some other way?
2. Can you share the snapshot of the crash message you are seeing on installation of Reader?
3. Which version of Reader X you had on your machine?

  • Acrobat reader XI won't start

    Hello,
For quite some time now I am unable to open Adobe acrobat reader / any other PDF file.
When I open it, in windows task manager I can see there is a running process, but it stays like that.
I have tried uninstalling, restarting my pc and reinstalling but it still won't start.
I am running on Windows 7 with all the important updates installed.
    Can anybody help please?

Now I'm trying to disabled reader_sl.exe from running on startup. I don't see it in Startup menu/Services/msconfig.
The only adobe related program that is running at starting is AdobeARM.exe.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Thank you
EDIT: Ok I found it myself. It was the AdobeARM.exe that was running reader_sl.exe. Disabling it in msconfig did the trick.
From this point I am not sure if it was both the eula.exe and reader_sl.exe or just the reader_sl.exe.
Good that I found it, now I can continue using my favorite PDF reader and it seems faster without the speedlauncher. Maybe because I have SanDisk ExpressCache.

  • Flash is not working in Adobe Acrobat Reader

Hi - I created a bunch of Flash tabs in Flash CS6 - they work great - but I want to put them into Adobe Acrobat X PRO (the writer) and they imported just fine and work just great inside of Acrobat X PRO.  However when I go to send the exported PDF with the Flash elements inside of it - to someone who only has Acrobat Reader (but doesn't have the Flash plug-in installed on their machine) - that person can open the PDF and can even view the Flash element but they get a yellow bar across the top of the PDF that says they must install the Flash plug-in to use it.  Well that is great but this PDF is being used out in the field where they cannot install the Flash plugin....
I am suprised it does this because Flash importing and exporting capability is native to Acrobat Reader...and I thought I read that Acrobat has flash reading/rendering capability natively built into the Reader itself.  Am I wrong - and/or does anyone have a workaround for this??
    Andrew

    Hi andrewpweyrich
What is the version of Adobe Reader You're using ?
Flash has been removed from the Reader X in latest releases and also it has been removed from Reader XI.
You Need to sepeately download and install the Flash plug-in to view the flash content.

  • Acrobat reader hangs opening pdf created with autocad

    Hi all,
when I try to open a pdf file created with autocad, Acrobat Reader hangs and I can't do anything else then kill the process. Now I use Acrobat Reader 9.5.5. I've insatlled also Acrobat Reader XI, but the problem persists. It seems it is very slow to process the file. If file has few graphics after some minutes I can see it and zoom in, but if file is has a lot of graphics, acrobat hangs. Any suggestions?

    Hi Robert,
I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused & will try my best to get this issue resolved.
I will recommend you to upgrade your Adobe reader to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on your Samsung Note 3 mobile phone and then try to view the pdf files. You can download it for free from the Google app. store or you can refer to this link Acrobat Reader DC Learn & Support.
Let me know if you still experience the same issue.

  • Why I can't put signature in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC?

Why I can't put signature in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC? I can use a picture as a signature in Adobe Reader XI, why Adobe Acrobat Reader DC doesn't have this option?

I can find it when the language is english, but when I change the language to Chinese, it disappeared.

  • Exported PDF looks beautiful in Pages and Preview not in Acrobat Reader

Hi, I need a little help. I created an eBrochure in Pages which looks beautiful. When I export it to PDF, it looks amazing in Preview but not in Adobe Acrobat Reader; pictures doesn't look so bright and shiny, they loom more opaque. Also fonts look kind of weird. I went to Photoshop and tried to do it there, it looks better in Acrobat Reader but texts don't print as nice as the Pages one (photos do). So my problem I guess is with the photos on Pages... What can I do to ensure that my document created in Pages and exported to PDF can have the same quality in the Reader as it has in Preview?
Photos are in JPEG format and have a decent resolution I guess:
    File Size 1.4 MB
    With: 1200 pixels
    Height: 1800 pixels
    Resolution: 300 pixels/ inch
    Pixel Dimensions: 6.18M
    Pages computer is a MBA, 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OS X 10.5.7, Pages '09 4.0.2
    Thanks.

As far as I know, there is no provision for such settings in these programs.
Developer documentation for ICC colour management in Firefox 2, Firefox 3 and Firefox 3.5, see below. Firefox 3 has ICC colour management disabled by default. Firefox 3.5 has ICC colour management for images within which there is embedded an ICC source colour space profile. It is possible to set Firefox to colour manage the application windows as well as images with embedded ICC profiles. The developer documentation discusses how to do this in what sounds suspiciously like a command line / terminal tool, and also how to point Firefox 3.5 to the display profile. This in turn sounds suspiciously like Firefox 3.5 is unable to talk to the system level service and ask for the display profile automatically.
Camino and Opera ... I'll pass. I suspect it's more of the same mess.

  • Repeated field not formatting in mac acrobat reader

    Hi folks,
I'm new to livecycle, but am enjoying it immensely. I'm coming at this from a design perspective so pardon my ignorance with programming skills.
Righto, I've created a form where a user can fill out a field on page 1 which is then repeated on the header of each subsequent page, so that the admin team know that each page belongs to the one person. So far so good. I have named the fields the same and they do indeed work.
The only difference is the size and colour of how the field is represented on each susequent page. The user fills the field at 10 myriad and the field is repeated on each subsequent page as 16pt myriad light in grey.
When I run this on a PC using acrobat reader the page renders perfectly.
When I run the same form on a Mac the pdf renders the subsequent 'header' entries at 10pt myriad in black
Is there any way to ensure that the mac will render the field correctly?
    Thanks in advance
    SunsV

    HI there,
Nope, definitely using acrobat reader - preview doesn't open the file at all.
I did some further testing. If I edit the file using a mac the formatting is incorrect - if I then take it over to the PC the file formatting remains incorrect until I re-edit the fields - then it formats correctly. Finally, if I take this same file back into the mac the type is rendered correctly... unless I re-edit the fields and then it formats incorrectly.

  • Rotating pages in in Acrobat Reader using Javascript + AIR

    Greetings,
Currently we're building an application to view pdf files in an AIR application.
We communicate with a javascript code, embedded in the PDF.
Now, we want to rotate the pages of the document, but we cannot get this to work...
Zoom, page up, page down, those work fine,

We also found rumours that rotating pages won't work in Acrobat Reader 9, but we need to be sure.
    all the help is appreciated!

With Adobe Acrobat you can rotate pages. Read the documentation in the Acrobat Javascript Reference.

I want to uninstall Acrobat reader. I got support in the community to access my HD and to send to trash the internet plugs in for PDF viewer, but when I try to download a PDF from internet a black screen appears and preview doesn't open

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Combine Files into a Single PDF option missing from start up in Acrobat Reader XI

The 'Combine Files into a Single PDF' option missing from start up in Acrobat Reader XI and is also not available on the right-click button.

There's no such thing as "Acrobat Reader XI". There's the free Reader, which doesn't have this option, and there's the paid product Acrobat, which does...

  • Sometimes when downloading a .pdf file I'm not automatically switched to Acrobat reader, but the screen becomes white with a red borderline left and upper, IE doesn't have this problem

The screen shows the borders of the original site. Beneath the Mozilla workbar the screen becomes white, on the left and upper side there appears a thin red line. Nothing is downloaded, clicking the right mouse button doesn't solve the problem. It doesn't happen everytime I try to load a .pdf file. When I go to the same site using Internet Explorer I do not encouter the same problem, swiching to Acrobat Reader or FoxIt is immediate.

To enable this right you need Acrobat, not the free Reader.
However, starting from Reader X it is possible to add simple markups to any file, unless it has been specifically disallowed by the creator of the file.

  • Why Acrobat Reader doesn't open pdf-files from Safari?

I'm new Mac user and cannot find answer why I cannot open pdf-files directly from Safari. My Macbook OS X 10.9.3 and Safari is 7.0.4. Only way to open pdf-files is to download the content first and then open it. If I try to open it directly Acrobat says "Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the end user license agreement". I have downloaded Acrobat Reader several times already and cannot understand what I'm doing wrong.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
              Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
              Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.
