  • Adobe Acrobat X - Acrotray is not responding

I have recently installed Acrobat X on my 64bit Windows operating system and when first installed I had no problems, everything was working correctly. A few months go by and all of a sudden I get a spooling error when trying to print a document to a PDF. The error reads "Acrotray is not responding". So I close the error box and try again...it then prints. This went on for a few weeks. Then recently, it became worse, now I have to repeat the process 3 times to print any document (Word, Excel, ACAD, JPG) to a PDF. This is time consuming and very annoying to say the least.
If anyone has had this problem and found a resolution, please let me know.
    Thank you-
I also found a ton of "AppHang_Acrotray errors in my microsoft directory. Here is one opened with notpad:

I recently have installed Adobe Master Suite CS6 Collection. My Adobe acrobat X Pro does not respond after a minute I open up a pdf file. This happens every time when open a new pdf file. My operating system is Windows 7 pro ( Lenovo-64 bits). Any suggestions would be appreciated !!

    Thank you for the suggestions.
I checked the WIndows log files. It reported the following error:
The program Acrobat.exe version 10.1.1.33 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
    Process ID: 4770

    Termination Time: 13

I ran for the memory diagnostics as it showed the error with video card error. My NVDIA graphics card is not working properly. Do you think that could be a problem?I am running on Windows 7 64 bit computer. It also complains about the incompatibility with 64 bits.
    Thank you.

I am using a Macbook Pro, OSX 10.9.5, Safari browser. Previous versions of Adobe Acrobat have worked fine for years.

What's the name of the file you are attempting to open?  Is it "ScreenFlow_4.5.2.dmg"?  If it is the correct name then the message is correct and you are attempting to open a file with DMG files extension and not one with a PDF file extension.  Adobe Reader opens PDF files an not any other file type.

  • Acrobat Reader 9 does not display Type 3 fonts correctly

Acrobat Reader 9 does not display Type 3 fonts correctly for quite a few of our older, PDF version 1.2 PDF files in our products, where normal Acrobat or Digital Editions show no such problem. It only shows the bottom part of the glyphs but then shifted to the top of the glyph area.

Hmm, this cannot be, as this is legacy material from 1997. There is no way that this can be changed using Type 1 or OTF fonts other than retypesetting everything from scratch, I fear, and that will be just too much expensive work. Interestingly, Acrobat Reader 8 and the latest Adobe Digital Editions display these PDFs correctly, so I have no alternative other than assume that the changes in the font rendering mechanism in Reader 9 are responsible for this. I am checking these files with Acrobat 9 Professional shortly...

  • My adobe acrobat 9 pro is not responding

I have had Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro installed for 3 years now.  Then I got a message that I had to uninstall and reinstall which I did.  However, Adobe is not responding when I try to move around a PDF or try to print a page.  Any ideas?  Does my purchase of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro expire?  @

    Hi Eric Hillmann,
May i know which operating system you are using?
Have you tried to repair the Acrobat? What exactly you are trying to do when Acrobat is not responding?

  • Acrobat 9.5 Pro not responding

Tried to get support through chat but I have to pay! the other day it just decided to "not respond". It opens for a few seconds, which still allows me to convert docs to pdf and save, but nothing else. Can't do any updates either (I always allow the "frequent" updates anyway). Thinking it's time to give Adobe away and find an alternative product. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't see that people should be forced to constantly outlay big money for the latest versions.

    1) Opened PDF where most of the pages have all page boxes set to zero, with media box (true page size) set to 6" x 9". One subset of pages has a media box of 6.25" x 9.25", but the trim box is set to 0.125" on all sides.
    2) Ran a preflight profile with the option "Page size or orientation differs from page to page" set to "Error", as it has been on all previous versions of Acrobat.
    3) "Page size or orientation differs from page to page" error does not get triggered.
    4) Tried same preflight profile settings on same PDF in Acrobat 7. Error does get triggered.
    5) Tried same preflight profile settings on same PDF on a copy of Acrobat 9 not fully updated to 9.5. Error does get triggered.
    6) Tried on various machines with 9.5 update. Error does not get triggered on any.
I can only conclude that something has changed in the latest update.

  • Adobe Acrobat webpage Printing spins/"not responding" in FF 3.6 latest release - please fix it

FF 3.6 (latest) Print web page to Adobe Acrobat v.9.02 spins and not responding. Earlier version of FF was ok w/Acrobat. I have the Acrobat Plug-ins in FF 3.6. Annoying to see FF 3.6 not ready for prime-time as prior versions. How can I go-back to FF 3.5? Thank you.

Hi, sorry it took me so long to reply. I finally had some time to troubleshoot the issue, and fortunately I found what was wrong .
But first, I must say that I am deeply ashamed, and I apologize to for coming here and blaming Skype, because it turns out the fault is completely mine. The problem was that a while back, a tech buddy of mine sent me his Windows "hosts" files (the hosts file allows a simple way to block unwanted and dangerous websites, as well as advertisements from loading on your computer). Most of the time, I do pay attention when I compile my hosts file, but this time I assumed my buddy's list of blocked websites was reasonable.
Turns out, he had the following entries in there (without the quotation marks):
    "skypeassets.com"
    "secure.skypeassets.com"
That means, any web page that needed to access these was blocked from loading. As a result, this is what broke the Skype Credit page.
I attached a screenshot to show what the Buy Skype Credit page looks like when it is blocked, so that way, if anyone has this issue and wonders why it's not working, check your hosts file (found in "C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc").
The Buy Skype Credit page now seems to work fine in all of my browsers (Firefox 32, Firefox 24, Opera 12/11/10, and IE8 ). I also tested IE6 just for giggles, but it gives a "Page Cannot be Displayed" error. This is very common with IE6, though. I'm just stating this in case anyone is still running that dinosaur browser (please don't, it's not safe or compatible).
Thanks, and I hope this was somewhat helpful .

  • PDF file prints fine from Acrobat reader XI, but not Acrobat Standard XI

I have a 2 page document that is set up as tabloid 11x17, meant to be printed duplexed and folded as a 4 pamphlet.  The document with the same printer settings prints fine from Adobe Reader XI but from Adobe Standard XI, Page 1 prints fine, but page 2 looks like it is  trying to print on the backside of an 81/2x11 instead of 11x17.  I have played with the print settings in Standard, and cannot come up with a combination that prints that document correctly, yet it prints fine from Acrobat Reader XI.  I did double check for updates on both products and installed them.  Anyone have any idea as to why this is happening?  If I print page 2 by itself it does print properly, just not when sent duplexed with page 1.

Well, for those following this thread or needing a solution, I found a work-around though I'm still not sure why the initial problem exists.
In Acrobat 9 Pro, once you have the main print dialogue box open, follow the steps below:
    1) Click ADVANCED
    2) Select PRINT AS IMAGE
    3) Set DPI to 300
    4) Click OK
    5) Make any other typical print setup adjustments as you normally would and finish printing as usual

  • Acrobat Reader 8 Will Not Default to Double Sided / Duplex Printing In Linux

Acrobat Reader for Linux 8.1.2 seems to always default to single sided printing regardless of the system default. In order to save trees, toner, the environment and money, it would be nice if it would default to the system's default.
    > The default printing command is something like:
    > lpr -P printer_name -o InputSlot=Middle -o OutputBin=PrinterDefault -o Resolution=300x300dpi -o PageSize=Letter -o Duplex=None
    > Requiring the user to select double sided printing every time they print. This changes the command to:
    > lpr ... Duplex=DuplexNoTumble
    > It would be nice if the default setting was:
    > lpr ... Duplex=PrinterDefault
    > So that users could still choose but platform administrators could set the default in /etc/cups/lpoptions Unfortunately, most people will simply not print double-sided unless its the default.

  • Acrobat DC freezing or "not responding"

I recently installed Acrobat DC.  I previously used Foxit Phantom.  Now when I am in "My Computer" and I either mouse-over or try to open a PDF file, it freezes for about 10 seconds and says "not responding" at the top.  It always works again after the 7-10 seconds.  Very annoying.  This never happened when using Foxit.  Has anyone else had this problem?  How do I fix it?

    Hi Scott2116,
I am sorry that you are experiencing this issue & will be happy to assist you.
Can you please let me know the version of operating system installed on your computer in order to diagnose the issue correctly?
