Acrobat Standard XI deployment issue

Hi all,
I have trouble deploying Acrobat Std XI in our corporate environment via SCCM 2012.
Prior to the deployment I always apply the latest update via an administrative install (AIP).
It used to work with older versions of the Reader and Acrobat.
It also works with Adobe Reader 11 without any issues but I can't get it to work with Acrobat Std XI.
I first create an administrative installation (AIP)
msiexex /a AcroStan.msi
I then apply the latest update:
msiexex /a AcroStan.msi /p AcrobatUpd11010.msp
This all works without any issues.
I edit some settings with Adobe Customization Wizard XI.
When I then try to install the software with or without the MST it fails.
At the end I receive "Installation Interrupted".
I then tried to apply an earlier update (11.0.02) also without problems.
The installation of Acrobat seems successful but I cannot start Acrobat.
Every time I start the application the Windows Installer starts to run and nothing happens.
The shortcut also doesn't have the Acrobat icon.
All prerequisites are installed.
I've also tried to install it with the switch IGNOREVC10RT 1, even though this is not necessary as this prerequisite is already installed.
I have a log file as well:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26384367/acrobat.log
(removed license information from log file)
I always did it like this and it was never an issue, but it doesn't work this time.
I've tried to install it on different computers. On x86 and x64 systems...
Any help appreciated
Thx

This is the Adobe Application Manger.  Without it your install won't work because that this the licensing compenent of Adobe products.
Try reinstalling AAM with it's own installer:  Adobe - Adobe Application Manager : For Windows : Adobe Application Manager

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro deployment issue

Hello. I am having a deployment issue with Adobe Acrobat 9 using Altiris. I create the rip which is bassically an image of the install. My facility has pruchased 50 seats for this software so I know we are covered for the users that we have to use this software. The issue that I am having after I make the rip, and deploy it to a machine it asks for the CD key again in order to use. Am I having an issue with my installation or is Adobe put some kind of security into their software so that when you try to make a rip of the installation is asks for teh CD Key again after the install? Is this an issue that can be resolved?

    SOLUTION:
The issue was somehow related to DPI (START > Settings > Control Pannel > Display > Settings Tab > Advanced button). Eventhough the DPI was set to normal, I switched it to LARGE, restarted the machine, logged in after the reboot, changed it back to normal size, restarted again, logged in once more, checked the Printer Preferences and PRESTO --- a properly displayed window.

  • Acrobat Standard Markup numbering issue

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.4.5 and am having issues with the markup function.
Whenever I add a comment or mark-up, I get a small sequential number next to it (and sometimes obscuring the text as well).
It is also in the printout.
Any way I can turn the display off?

    Thanks for the reply.
I tried your suggestion but no luck.
I am uploading a screen print for your information.
You can see the small numbers to the top left of each mark-up.
Anything you can do to help is much appreciated.

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard XI print issue

When opening a PDF in internet explorer, adobe acrobat won’t read pre chosen print driver settings.
When using acrobat stand alone, not in internet explorer, it does read the print settings.
Specifically the issue is you set up print driver as single sided print under finishing.
Only when you open PDF in IE, does acrobat choose 2 sided, it doesn’t read your single side setting under finishing.
This does not happen for adobe reader by itself, with no acrobat. If acrobat is installed in addition to adobe reader, it still happens for acrobat.

  • Group Policy Deployment Acrobat Standard XI Version 11

I was able to successfully create a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Group Policy that would be able to distribute the Adobe Reader Application using the Adobe Customization Wizard XI. I tried to use the same procedure from the Adobe Acrobat Standard 11 download from the adobe licensing site and was unable to get the Group Policy to work. The error message that I am getting is...
The install of application Adobe Acrobat XI Standard 11.0 from policy  Deploy Adobe Acrobat 11 failed. The error was : %%1603
This is the procedure that I created for deployment of Adobe Acrobat XI using Group Policy.
How to create a group policy deployment of Adobe Acrobat XI
    Overview:
This procedure covers the steps needed to create a group policy that will deploy the Adobe Acrobat installation.
    Requirements
    •    Windows 2008 Group Policy
    •    Adobe Acrobat Customization Wizard
         o    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/11.x/11.0.00/misc/CustWiz11000_en_US.exe
    •    Adobe Acrobat XI (Version 11)
         o    download from adobe account
    Procedure:
    1.    Download the Adobe Acrobat XI package.
    2.    Extract the contents of the Adobe Acrobat XI package.
    a.    Type msiexec.exe /a AcroStan.msi
    b.    Click Next
    c.    Put in the Network Location Share where everyone can extract the installation.
    d.    Click Install
    e.    The package will then extract to the network location as indicated above.
    f.    Click Finish, once the installation has completed.
    g.    Open the Adobe Customization XI Wizard, and customize the package by selecting the AcroStan.msi file.
    h.    Customize the AcroStan.MSI installation file
    i.    Default viewer of PDF files: Make Acrobat the Default PDF Viewer
ii.    Remove previous versions of Acrobat
    iii.    Run Installation: Silently
iv.    If reboot is required at the end of installation: Suppress reboot
    i.    Shortcuts: Remove the desktop Shortcut
    j.    Online and Adobe Services: Disable Product Improvement Program: checked.
    k.   Generate Transform File
    i.    Click Transform > Generate Transform File
ii.   Create an Setup.Ini file in the folder of the Distribution Package.
iii.  Name the Transform File something useful like “CompanyConfigs”.
    3.    Create a Group Policy to deploy the software package. It is usually best to have a group policy for each software installation package.
    a.    Update the Domain Default Policy with Always install with elevated privileges. This will allow all software deployment packages to install.
    i.    Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Installer > Always install with elevated privileges : Enabled.
    b.  Create a Group Policy to enable Windows 7 Verbose Mode
    i.    Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > System > Verbose vs normal status messages : Enabled.
    c.    Create a Group Policy for the Software Installation
    i.     Computer Configuration > Policies > Software Settings
ii.    Right click and select New > Package
    iii.   Click the AcroRead.msi
    iv.   Click Advanced
    v.    Click the Modifications Tab and click Add
vi.   Optional: Click the Uninstall this application when it falls out of the scope of management.
Note: This setting can be used to uninstall the application if the group policy ever changes in that the application should be removed.
vii.    The package is now created …
    4.    Test the Client in a Virtual Machine
    a.    Go to a windows client and run “gpupdate /force”.
    b.    The system will then respond that it needs to restart the computer.
    c.    Type Yes, and allow the computer to reboot.
    d.    If Group Policy is not setup to allow for verbose messages in Windows 7 then the user will just see “Please wait…”, if verbose message is enabled the user will see “Installing Adobe Acrobat…”.
Can someone please tell me what I am missing to get the group policy deployed? It has the same permissions as the Adobe Reader folder and I have done everything exactly the same, except that Adobe Standard has the license number, and owner information included in the Transform file (.mst).
    Thank you.

Your case isn't unique. We've heard this a lot. While Acrobat has a small, very small percentage of settings available in the ADMX files,
in case you don't know, PolicyPak software has a solution to manipulate, basically, near 100% of the settings in Acrobat Reader and Professional.
You're welcome to check out how it works. These videos are for Acrobat X, but there is also tempaltes in the download for XI.
Here are links to the pages with full how-to videos:

    and
    http://www.policypak.com/products/manage-acrobat-x-pro-and-acrobat-x-standard-using-group- policy.html
You can be up and running in 20 minutes, but note, it's NOT a template.. PolicyPak is full application management and lockdown system.

  • Acrobat Standard (9.4.6) - Issue: "Acrobat could not create a new PDF form"

I have Adobe Acrobat Standard (version 9.4.6).  I am trying to create a form but when I start the form wizard, locate the document to convert and click next, I get an error message "Acrobat could not create a new PDF form."  What's wrong?  (I've used this feature before in Adobe Pro so I am familiar with the process but I am using Standard now).  It's not letting me upload my document (an MS Word 2003 document).  Please, someone, anyone, help!  I think I got a bad batch of software here.  Any suggestions?  If it's hopeless, who do I call for a replacement if that's the case?  Is this software under warranty?

    Hello Michael,
Thank you for your email.  The file I am trying to convert to PDF and create a form with is a MS Office Word 2003 file.  It isn't any specific file; the issue happens every time.  I type my text in the Word doc and then proceed to open Adobe Acrobat Standard and use the wizard to create a form from an existing file.  I tried to repairing the software but it does not help.  Any other suggestions?  Is this version of software defective?  I really need this feature.  I look forward to your reply.  Thanks.

I already have the latest updates and the print as an image did not work
Can anyone make any other suggestions?

  • How to package and deploy Acrobat Standard without a Serial Number?

    Hello,
In our environment we package applications without Serial Numbers depending on what it is.  We do this so we can actively manage applications and we don't need to buy a licence for each and every user.  If you never run the app, you don't need a licence, if you leave the firm we know what licenced apps you have and so can redeploy to someone who needs it.
How can we deploy Acrobat Standard to some of our users without a S/N attached?  I've deployed Acrobat Pro using the trial software, when the user fires up Pro they have to enter a Serial Number before they can move on.  Is there such a feature for Standard?
We really don't want to have to do a manual install for 60+ machines it would be a massive waste of time.
Any thoughts on the best way to proceed here?
    Thanks
    Mark

Those numbers should be on the internet. Apologies if my answers are confusing. I'll try again:
You can't deploy without a serial number.
    You need a volume license.
Use the Wizard to customize the installer.
The Wizard allows you to preserialize the installer.
Updates don't need to be serialized. Just chain the latest update with the base install as described in the Admin Guide. Alternatively, you can do it later.
As far as adding seats, I don't know the answer. The Admin Guide links to licensing FAQs, but you can also try the Licensing Web Site, support, or your sale's person. You could also try creating another thread with the "add seat" question in the title.

  • Adobe Reader 8 compatible with Acrobat Standard and Pro 7?

Our organization has Adobe Reader 7 deployed to all users. Some users also have Acrobat Standard 7 or Acrobat Pro 7. We want to upgrade all users to Adobe Reader 8 (or maybe 9) but do not want to upgrade Standard and Pro users yet.
I have not been able to find any information about compatibility issues with Reader 8 and older versions of Acrobat, but last time we did an upgrade in similar fashion we experienced issues. Any insight?

Thanks for the reply. I stumbled across something today after posting. I had already known that If the ARX user also had one of the other products (AAXS or AAXP), then they would get the dialog box. Here is what I just figured out: if the user uninstalled ARX and re-installed (still having both ARX and AAXS or AAXP in the end) then they no longer get the dialog box. It seems like perhaps its an issue the AAXP and AAXS are overwriting something in the registry.

  • I am unable to download Adobe Acrobat Standard from the cloud says the "Adobe Acrobat is not currently available for your language or platform." I am running Vista and using Chrome

I just subscribed to Adobe Acrobat Standard from the cloud. I am running microsoft Vista and Google Chrome browser. I get the error message Adobe Acrobat is not currently available for your language or platform. For a list of supported platforms and languages: and I believe I meet the Vista requirements. How do I resolve this issue?

LorettaKallen are you trying to install Adobe Acrobat Standard 11 utilizing the Adobe Application Manager?  Do you receive the same error message if you use Internet Explorer or Firefox?

  • How do I customize Adobe Acrobat Standard DC or Adobe Acrobat Pro DC to do what I'd like?  Actually this a multiple-question inquiry.

Note, I was unable to find a "How TO", Tutorial, or FAQ relevant to the following questions.
For instance, how do I easily append to an existing PDF with minimum clicks (which I could do with an earlier version of Acrobat Standard)?
I'm using a 30-day trial of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC to scan documents and in certain situations, append to existing PDFs.
I'd prefer to trial the Adobe Acrobat Standard vs. Pro DC because that's what I intend to purchase.  I'd prefer to not get accustomed to Pro if Standard is very different.
    1.  After selecting Edit > Preferences and specifying certain defaults, most take effect as suspected but some do not, like the one's I'm going to elaborate on below.  Why?
    2. Alternatively, is there a Tool or a way to create a local customized Profile and default to that Profile to avoid having to repeat the following steps?
This should not be confused with the online Profile (or Communities Profile) whereby one states one's Name etc.
    File
    > Create
       > PDF from scanner
         > Custom scan
           > Color Mode: Black and White
           > Append to existing file
             > Browse
               > Select file
                 > Scan
This is a cumbersome task to repeat each time I'm ready to scan.  Using an earlier version of Acrobat Standard, I'd simply double-click the PDF I wished to append to,
Acrobat would default to the appropriate scanner, and know that I wished to append to an existing file without me having to select that option.  Presently it doesn't appear to be that easy/simple.
Perhaps it is (or can be with guidance).  Please assist.
    3. Please find attached the following snapshots/images... CORRECTION, IF ADOBE SUPPORT CONTACTS ME ABOUT THIS, I'LL GLADLY FORWARD SCREENSHOTS.
Meaning, there does not appear to be a way to include screenshots on Forums.
3a See Error.  Is there a way to get a more accurate description of the error (i.e., turn on debugging etc.)?
3b When Creating a PDF, the prompts still seen after clicking "Configure Presets" and changing Color Mode from AutoDetect to Black and White.  Why?
3c Custom Scan Input, where I changed Color Mode from AutoDetect to Black and White and why I must also tell Acrobat to append AND to browse to a pre-defined default location?
    4. Must I be "Logged in" to use the product?  The first time launching it, I was prompted to login using the credentials used to create the account and download the product.  Now when using the product it appears to be automatically "Logged in" or online.  I would prefer to use it in an "offline mode" if there is such a thing.
    5. Once the product is purchased, what are my support options?  Can questions be answered or issues resolved with a phone call or are they limited to the Acrobat Forum(s) and/or Adobe Communities?  Even after clicking "Ready to contact us?  Start here." I'm only given the Forum option (over and over) vs. Chat vs. Email Support etc.
If I've posted these inquiries to the wrong Forum or Discussion, if prudent, please collectively relocate them.  Regardless, please advise.  Thanks!

uninstall all acrobat/reader versions and retry installing.

  • Unable to save a document after signing it in Adobe Acrobat Standard XI.

I have a user who is unable to save .PDF files that he is opening in Outlook via an embedded link in the email.
When he clicks on the link, Acrobat opens the document without issue. However, when he applies his signature and goes to save it over the existing document on our internal network file server, he gets the following message: "The document could be saved. The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full. Free some space on this disk and try again, or save to a different disk."
The network drive has a significant amount of space available, at least 500 gigs.
This was not an issue up until Friday of last week. Prior to Friday, he had no issue signing documents emailed to him that contained a embedded link pointing back to the file on our internal network file server.  If I have him browse directly to the file in Windows Explorer however, he can open sign the document and overwrite the existing copy.  While that works, I would like him to regain the ability to save his file after opening it from his email; as unless I show him how to get to the file directly via Explorer, he is unable to do so. (And he has to sign many documents a day as well)
Other users on my network are not encountering this issue, however some are running a different mix of Office and Acrobat. (Such as Office 2010  and Acrobat X, etc)
I've researched this issue for prior versions of Acrobat and tried to applied the same resolutions for this issue without a positive result. So far I have been unable to find any solutions for this issue dealing with XI.
Has anyone else run ino this issue with Acrobat Standard XI? If so what did you do to resolve the issue? Thank you for any help that you can give me.
Here is the basic setup that his computer is running:
    Windows 7 Profesional 64 bit
    Microsoft Office 2013 Professional
    Adobe Acrobat Standard XI
    Internet Explorer 9
Also my user is has full Admin rights to his workstation and has the appropriate security rights to the folders he is trying to save the signed document to.

I would like to confirm the exact same message is happening with us.
Several users have been receiving the error message shown below when trying to save PDF’s to their desktop or other server.
We are experiencing the issue with earlier versions of Acrobat (8 & 9) as well.
This is only started happening this week?

  • Acrobat Standard 6.0 Set as Default Viewer, but Browser is looking for Adobe Reader 8 or 9

    All,
I use Adobe Acrobat Standard 6.0 for viewing and creating PDF's.  Just a couple of days ago, I tried opening a patent document I found on Google.  The browser displayed the following error:
"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser.  Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required.  Please exit and try again."
So I looked for an update for Adobe Reader and downloaded Adobe Reader 9.1.2.
The next PDF document that I opened came up in Adobe Reader....NOT Adobe Acrobat.  The installation must have changed the default viewer.  So I right-clicked on the PDF file icon and selected OPEN WITH Adobe Acrobat.  I clicked the checkbox to "Always open with this program..."  This seems to have fixed the default viewer problem, as PDF files now open with Adobe Acrobat Standard...just the way I want things to work.
I still have the problem of not being able to open many documents within a browser...I think because the browser is looking to open the PDF files in Adobe Reader 9.1.2, NOT Acrobat 6.0.  But Adobe Acrobat is now the default viewer.
Does Acrobat function independently of Reader?  Or is Reader a module that is required for Acrobat to function properly?  Whatever the case may be, can somebody suggest a fix for this problem?
    Thanks,
    Neal
    [email address deleted by host]

They do not require each other for running as mentioned. There are some modules in common and that is where you run into problems. There are issues with the parts that remain resident also. I would suggest you follow the other advice you have been given. Unfortunately, there are some PDFs that may not open correctly in AA6. You may have run into some of those.

  • Bring back PDF Portfolio option to Acrobat Standard!

We are refreshing some department computers with newer models through Dell.  These new computers come with Adobe Acrobat X Std on them.  This works fine for most people until today.  Our one department had their older XP computers replaced with new Win 7 machines and Adobe Acrobat X standard.  They were dependant on a feature to right click on a bunch of PDFs and combine them.  They need the portfolio option because a regular combine will overwrite values in forms because "they have the same name".  This worked fine on the OLD machines with Adobe 9.5 Standard.
So on the new computers with Acrobat X Standard, this portfolio option is gone!  This is needed for their job!
Now I am scrambling to deactivate and uninstall X standard from the new computers ,and deactivate and uninstall 9.5 from the old ones.  Using Belarc Advisor to obtain the product key, I can reinstall it on the new computers, along with running all the umpteen patches to get 9.0 back up to the latest version.  Not only that but the right click context menu is gone, so I had to research that and find the command to get it back -> regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat Elements\ContextMenu64.dll"
After doing some research it seems you have to spend extra money on a X or XI "professional" version, just to get a feature that was included in 9 STANDARD.  Shopping around the best price I could find was over at NewEgg for $120.  Multiple that by the people who need it, were looking at good amount of money to get back a single feature we had before!
So were going right back to Acrobat 9 standard because it does what we need it to do.  My plea to adobe is to bring back the portfolio feature!  Either that or don't screw up the contents of forms in a standard combine!
Is this the latest trend that new versions of software are designed to take away features or functionality that people depend on?  I mean even Windows 8 takes away the start menu (I know there's freeware to get it back).  Please don't stoop to Microsoft's level and remove thign's people depend on.

We are also going through some of the issues with Acrobat standard being gutted. In acrobat 9 standard we have some processes that used a function called "Export Multiple Files.." This allowed you function through a wizard to select as many files of many file types as you wanted and export them to a ton of file formats. I use this on a daily basis and now i am being told it is not available in the standard version. If i buy the PRO version it is available, but what will keep Adobe from from removing this from the Next version of PRO and call that PLATNUM or somthing. This not the way to treat long time customer who pay for and have developed many process using the tool. It is also sad to learn that Portfolio option is no longer available.
