Acrobat support for PDF 1.4

Are there any plans to stop supporting PDF 1.4 in Adobe Reader?
Thanks,
John Sulik

I seriously doubt Adobe will do that since PDF 1.4 is the basis for PDF/A (PDF for Archive).

Ivan please choose the default location of your User directory to download the install files.  Once the software is downloaded you can then install to your Program Files/Applications folder depending on your operating system.

  • Container Layout Web Item supported for PDF Printing (Stack 11)

Dear all and Mr. Prakash Darji
I had an information that PDF export would be supported for Container Layout Web Item with SPS11. We hrecently have installed SPS11 but the functionality is still not available.
Does any one have more info on this ? Has SAP changed the plan ?
The current document at the service marketplace about functional enhancements on the following link does not say any thing about this.

I' an APEX newbie and believe I am having the same or a similar problem. I am (for now) developing a system using the hosted Apex development system online. I have created a Report Query which works fine with the default layout. I downloaded the XML (tried both sample data and schema) into Word 2007 with the BI Publisher Template Builder. I used the table wizard to create a simple layout containing all columns with no customization at all. Saved as an RTF, uploaded to Apex as a Report Layout, associated it with the Report Query, clicked Test Report -- and I got nothing.
When the is a PDF, I get the same error you mention ( Adobe Reader could not open the <file name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded ). If I switch to an HTML file the out is just a blank screen.
If I switch back to generic report layout, it works fine. This suggests there is something wrong with the template, though it looks fine in Word with the sample data.
I've searched the forums and Google for the better part of a day. What am I missing?

  • ICloud support for .pdf file format

Help mentions iCloud supports .pdf file formats, but then does not show anything about how to get one of these files onto iCloud.  Since the pdf files I have were never created by one of the supported Application how does one place or retrieve a pdf file to/from iCloud?
    Thanks

PSE 4 does do 16 bit - although there are a limited number of things you can do at that depth.
It has essentially no support for actions.

  • Mars support for PDF/A

Is is possible to produce Mars files being PDF/A conform we
can use for long time archiving?

PDF/A is a standard for the PDF 1.4 format. Mars isn't PDF,
so may be the rules for PDF/A conformance don't match or are
insufficient. The Mars format includes many workflow problems of
the PDF format, so there will be a need for new standards
describing subsets for special use cases, like data exchange
(Mars/X?) and long time archiving (Mars/A?).

  • Support for PDF form editing in Acrobat Pro XI and futire versions?

Will Adobe Professional continue to support the creation and editing of PDF forms after Forms Central? Can I import my Forms-Central PDF forms into Acrobat XI? What are the plans for future versions of Acrobat Pro - any cancellations planned for forms-features?

    >. I understand that this LifeCycle Reader Extensions allows for such a result
    That's correct.
    >but I have not clue how to add this funtionality to my already created PDF?!?
LiveCycle Reader Extensions is a product. You buy it. Note that the
price is "on application" and varies with your company's needs, but is
typically either tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is to
offset the "lost sales" of Acrobat which people would otherwise have
    to buy to save forms.
    > I have downloaded the trial version Adobe LifeCycle Designer 7.1 (which appears to have full functionality for only 60 days)in hopes to just add this capability
There are many products with LiveCycle in the name from Adobe. That's
    a different one.

  • PDF Viewer support for PDF Highlight annotations

Hello. The built-in PDF viewer installed with Firefox 19 does not appear to support PDF Highlight annotations. Is there a time frame for implementing this annotation type? Thanks.

I quickly looked at the list of [https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues?labels=&milestone=&page=1&state=open hundreds of open issues] for the PDF viewer project, but couldn't figure out what was happening with highlight annotations.

  • Adobe Reader v10.4.4 support for PDF with attributes

    Hi there,
I recently downloaded Adobe Reader v10.4.4 for my iPhone. I was just wondering if it supports PDFs with attributes?
To test I created two PDFs using GIS application called MapInfo Professional:
    1. PDF without attributes - this one was able to open succesfully
    2. PDF with attributes - this one could not open and threw an error "Not a valid PDF document"
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for your speedy reply. Yes, I forgot to mention, these PDFs can open up in my desktop version of Adobe Reader (v8) for Windows.
PDF with attributes means that there is records (attribute data) contained in the PDF which is being saved into the PDF when it was created using the GIS application. For example if looking at postal area: PDF map, ID number, place name, population, area (sq m) values etc.
The specific tool/function which allows these attribute values to be exposed is called the 'Object Data' tool (under Tools > Object Data in the desktop version)
(I have attached a screenshot showing these attributes in the desktop version so you may get a better understanding hopefully! Pls see link below)

  • Support for PDF

which models of black berry phones natively support PDF or can be use to read pdf documents. Can Curve 8520 be used to read pdf documents? I has just been introduced to blackberry phones. I need some guidabce please.
    Thank you

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
If you have BIS email, and the PDF document remains an attachment to the email message, then ALL BBs can render that PDF (the BIS service actually renders it on the BB). If the PDF is not an email attachment, then an additional app is needed to render it. Prior to BB OS 7, only the Standard Edition of the Documents To Go apps were included, which excluded the PDF component. With OS7, the Premium Edition is now included, which then includes the PDF To Go app, which can render PDFs that are detached from email messages.
For your 8520, I don't know exactly the highest OS level that has been released, but I am pretty sure it's not OS7...which means obtaining (often purchasing) a PDF 3rd party app is necessary in order to render PDFs that are not email attachments.
    Good luck!

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • How to open pdf from an url into an acrobat control for vb

I have a vb requirement like this:
We have pdf files generated on a server and put in path like http://servername:port/pdfReports/report.pdf
Desktop applications need to show these files.. we have an acrobat reader control on one of the forms and trying to load the pdf.
We want this to be implemented for clients who have older versions of pdf readers like ver 5, 6, 8, also.. not just 9
opening a file on the control like below works.
    objPDF.LoadFile "c:\temp\test.pdf"
but network paths or http paths dont work.. what methods should be used ? and can anybody provide some sample code in vb if available.. so it is easy to understand dependencies.
    Thanks,
    Harish

There is no support for direct opening of an http/network-based path in the control.  You need to use a standard web browser control instead and give it the URL for a PDF.

  • OCR Support for Vietnamese language in Acrobat Pro 9.1

I am using Acrobat Pro 9.1 and am needing to OCR the earlier scanned Vietnamese document.
It seems that the default setup of Acrobat 9.1 doesn't support this. The question is does Acrobat 9.1 support support at all?
I have noticed the font pack (including Vietnamese support) for Acrobat Pro 8.x, but failed to find equivalent support for Pro 9+?
    Appreciate any ideas on this.

Try printing to the Adobe PDF printer, the more fundamental process (PDF Maker is a preprocessor for the printer). If that does not work, then try with print-to-file selected. Open the file in Distiller and see if the PDF is created. If the latter happens, then check for AcroTray running in the background. It is required to automate the process and is needed by PDF Maker.

  • More support for Designer PDFs on Mobile

Looking at the number of posts here, it is clear that LiveCycle Designer is a very popular application, though I am not sure whether Adobe senior management are aware of this fact.
Hardly surprising - little in the way of competition, and Adobe's own offerings - Acrobat XI and FormsCentral - just don't offer the same combination of ease of use and powerful form design features.
It is also clear that many, many people who are using LiveCycle Designer are not using it in connection with the LiveCycle server products - so cannot choose to render the form as Flash/HTML5 - they have to rely on the PDF format.
Why then is it so difficult for Adobe to produce a Reader on Mobile that supports Designer PDF forms? - as far as I can see, even if I save an ES3 form as a Static PDF, users are unable to complete it using the latest Adobe Reader on Android.
I'd actually say that non-server linked use of LiveCycle Designer has increased in the last couple of years - but this is not going to continue if there is no way to - easily - get the form usable in Adobe Reader on Mobile.
I don't think that Adobe realise that by seeding technology like this at the 'cubicle dweller' level (i.e. available to an individual geek/bright spark even if the company has not bought into the server technology) actually does often lead to the company making that 'big purchase'. In short, middle managers get to see some of the great work that Mike/Martha has been doing in his/her cubicle, and slowly but surely news of the efficiencies progress up the food chain until someone is convinced enough to sign off the big server purchase.
From past experience, Adobe have shown that they don't understand this way of marketing their technology - they seem to rely on glossy ads aimed at C level execs, ridiculously high entry-level prices and making these prices hard to even get hold of. Well, if that was such a bright idea, why have they made such slow progress with (and even scaled back) LiveCycle.
Some of the LiveCycle tech is really great - e.g. LC Rights Management and Barcoded Forms - and they should have gotten far more penetration out there.  If Adobe want LiveCycle to thrive, they need to change their ways.
And if anyone has a solution for Designer PDF forms on mobile (even static ones), please share. Thanks

  • Checking for PDF 1.7 compatibility in Preflight (Acrobat 9 Pro)

    Hi,
I've noticed that in the given Preflight profiles in Acrobat 9 there is no compatibility check for PDF 1.7, only 1.6. is there a profile i can load? or a set of checks i can make a profile in order to determine 1.7 compatibility?
    Thanks,
    Yair Agmon.

    Hi,
Knowing a PDF file's version premits deduction of what version "compatibility" is present.
Version 1.7 (Acrobat 8.x) lacks compatibility for Acrobat 9.x specific features.
Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x) lacks compatibility for Acrobat 8.x specific features.
    And so forth.
Certainly, not an elegantly simple approach; but, nevertheless it is functional.
    Using Acrobat Professional/Extended 9.x -
    Open the Preflight dialog.
    Advanced > Preflight
From the Options drop-down menu, Select "New Preflight Profile".
The Prefight: Edit Profile dialog opens.
A default profile name is provided (New Profile <number>).
Initially, Click the Save button to save the profile. You can rename it later.
Note that "New Profile" is placed in "Custom
Now, locate your "New Profile" in the column at the left of the dialog and select
    "Custom checks".
The available custom checks list loads in the pane to the right.
Above and to the right is a "Find" field.
    Enter the string "version".
    A filtered list appears.
A custom check is available for "versions newer than":
    1.2 | 1.3 | 1.4 | 1.5 | 1.6 | 1.7
and there is a custom check for "version older than 1.3".
Add the desired custom check to the profile. Save.
Configure the check for Error | Warning | Info
Info is "Notification" in the report that can be provided.
Once you have configured "New Profile" it can be used by a Batch Sequence to check multiple files.
When a Preflight is selected for use by a Batch Sequence you can configure for a "on success" and/or "on error" report.
    Be well...
