Acrobat - Time limit to open a document

Hi all,
Is there any solution to limit the time during which a document can be read?
For exemple, I want a document to be legible from October 6th to Octobre 20th, and then it can't be open anymore?
Thanks and best regards.

Look for a DRM solution, like LiveCycle Rights Management:

  • Acrobat pro crashes after opening a document on Mac 10.6.8

I have CS 5.5 I had to reinstall after a system crash. Acrobat pro opens a document and then crashes in a few seconds. It does the same thing when opening a new document. I have reinstalled acrobat pro 3 times after the initial install.

    Hi apolloart,
After installing Acrobat did you get a chance to accept the license agreement.
If not then it seems to me a licensing issue.
    Please try the following steps:
Delete all the files from following folders:
    [Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore
    [Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLCache
And, delete all files from following folder except cache.db
    [Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AdobePCD
    Then launch Acrobat and check.

  • XenApp 6.5 and Acrobat issue: "Unable to open the document".

We are using XenApp 6.5 with a published desktop Windows 7 x64. If we open Acrobat Pro 10.1.5 and Create PDF we get an error "Unable to open the document". If we do the same action directly on the XenApp server then it works as expected. The Word doc in question was created by the test user and is located on their Home drive area so the permissions are correct. If i try to save the Word doc as PDF it works fine directly and indirectly.

  • Acrobat X crashes every time when I open a signed document.

    I'm running Acrobat 10.1.13.16.
Acrobat receives a Visual C++ run time error when opening signed documents.  I can open standard PDF files without errors.

It's always on MVC90.DLL.  I removed it from one installation and installed other Visual C++, but that didn't make any difference.
    I've also tried re-installing Acrobat, Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729 and 9.0.30729.6161.

  • How to write-protect a document at the time it is opened?

is it possible to request a password from a user at the time he is opening a document (the password "quality" does not matter - it can be a string predefined in a macro), so that in the case the password is not submitted correctly, a document is forcefully opened in a read-only mode, allowing someone else to open it with password in a full-access mode?
    Thanks!

    Hi shortwedge3,
You can use [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/opendownload-10902/ OpenDownload2] extension to get '''Run''' option while downloading files using '''Firefox'''

  • Unable to open iWork documents on my Mac

Been using documents on iCloud for iWork apps (Pages, Numbers, and KeyNote) on my Mac for a few weeks now and it's been working really well but since last week I'm no longer able to open documents from iCloud. It will save or move documents to iCloud but it won't let me open iCloud documents ocne they're there (Error message; "The document “Document_name.numbers” could not be opened."). Although I do edit these documents in the iOS version of the apps, this erro applies to all documents.
    Any ideas?
(I'm running Mountain Lion (10.8) and iWork versions v2.2 on a 15-inch mid-2009 MacBook Pro).

Thank you!  This worked for me with one qualification.
I have some very large documents at iCloud and some documents are in folders.  I found it necessary to keep the Data and Documents checkbox in System Preferences unchecked for a several seconds because it takes that long for the document and folders of documents to be removed from my computer.  I also had to wait several seconds before opening the document and folders at iCloud through Pages for the first time after this fix.  The duration of the wait is proportional to the size and the number of the documents. You only have to wait the first time that you open the document or the folder after implementing this fix.  The same thing will happen in Keynote and Numbers.
The above wait is brief and no big deal.  If I listened very closely, I could hear the hard drive in my iMac running to delete the documents after I unchecked the box in System Preferences.  In Pages, there were progess bars that showed the documents being synced. As long as I waited for these things to finish before going to the next step, this solution worked.

  • Acrobat Pro XI Mac 11.0.10 freezes every time I open a document

Every time I open a document in Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.10, the app freezes with a spinning beach ball. Beach ball will go for 10 minutes plus before I can't stand it and force quit. I am using Macbook Pro 15 Retina with Mavericks (OSX 10.9.5). The same document opens without issues under Windows 7 Acrobat Pro XI. I have disabled enhanced security and upgraded form 11.0.7 without any change in behavior. I have also un-installed and re-installed Acrobat from a fresh download off the internet.
I am getting ready to ask for my $$ back!!  This is ridiculous, Acrobat is completely unusable under Mac.

  • Acrobat will not open any documents, HELP! Thank you!

Adobe Acrobat will not open any documents, it tells me it is a trial, I click on license product and get a thank you for your Adobe Cloud subscription... but then when I try to open a pdf I get the same message it just keeps looping from trial will run out in 7 days to trial will run out in 13 days and I can never open a pdf. I am going to try and uninstall and reinstall. For most of us, not being able to open a pdf is comparable to not being able to work. This is totally UNacceptable. Clients and bosses are counting on my being able to do my job, I can't say to them, "Oh well the dog "Adobe" ate my homework." PLEASE fix this Adobe! Thank you.
Here is a screen shot of the messages...
I  uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled from Adobe Application Manager, thought all was great when it asked for my user name and password, then when I clicked Launch... same issue. FRUSTRATING! Any one have a fix? I even created a pdf using InDesign, made sure I had View PDF after exporting checked and still got that awful Trial box. The pdf did show up in my documents, but I can not open it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you Manish-Sharma, I followed the instruction in the thread, and for the first time in a week I can actually open a PDF. I am not sure if this will be a permanant fix, we will see on the 30 day mark. I really appreciate that you read my question and gave me an answer that allowed me to open Acrobat. I also opened Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and AfterEffects. They all opened with the exception of a small glitch when I opened Illustrator which was cleared up in moments. See screetshot.
    Thank you again! Much appreciated!

  • Open PDF documents only works on second time

    Hallo,
When I want to open a PDF document in a navigation iView the first time only a white browser-page will be opened. When I close the empty window and open the document once again, the acrobat reader displays the document.
We are on NP 7.0 Stack 15 and IE 6.
    Any idea?
    Regards,
    Gerhard

    Hello Gerhard,
I think this was a known issue, have a look at the following links:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/328233.html
    http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/331025.html
There were also some known PDF issues which were fixed in newer versions, see SAP note 1146711 and 700177.

  • Acrobat X Pro - Unable to open the document

I'm having issues testing Acrobat X Pro trial version and Office 2010 on XP Pro SP3.  When trying to convert a Word document I consistently get the message - Unable to open the document.  Please check to see if you have read permission for the above file.  If I hit "Retry" a few times it will eventually convert the document.  If I initiate the conversion from within Word it seems to work fine. I've confirmed that permissions are not the problem.  It doesn't matter if the files are on the C: drive or a network location.  Most of my users use the combine so converting from within Word is not an option.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry but no.  Big bummer.  Keeping me from going to Win7 and Office 2010 on many systems. Honestly,  I haven't looked to see if there are any patches avaliable since I orginally posted.

  • My Acrobat 8.1.3 shuts down seconds after opening any document or other activity.

I have a Dell XPS 8100 operating Windows 7 Home Premium. I haven't used the Acrobat for a while so am not sure when the problem began. But today, when I tried opening several documents (all, or one at a time), Acrobat would shut down within seconds. The same happens when I select any tab after opening Acrobat. I went through the repair both with and without the disc, rebooting each time, but the problem is still there. Suggestions?

That is really strange and not an expected behavior. Other than the reinstall, I don't really have other suggestions (wish I did). Sometimes when this kind of thing occurs, there is another product that is causing an issue. If you are runnin your AA8 on a 64-bit machine, that may be the issue. I have only heard of success 2 times for that combination, and I am not sure I believe the report in full.
If you decide to do the Reinstall, then the process is as follows: deactivate, uninstall, remove the Acrobat folder (if any of it is left), run the cleaner http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, reboot, install, activate, update. Typically all of the updates can be done and then reboot, rather than all the extra reboots.

  • Acrobat 8 Standard: "There was an error opening this document. Invalid action object."

    Hi,
Acrobat 8 had been working on my computer previously, up until this morning. Now any time I try to open a pdf, I get the error, "There was an error opening this document. Invalid action object." I can't get any pdfs on my computer to open, including pdfs that I know work as they opened fine last week. I don't think I've had any updates done to my computer over the weekend. Any ideas why it now doesn't work?

Open Acrobat and go to HELP>Repair and see if that helps. After the repair, you may also want to do HELP>Updates.

  • Most times when I want to open a document, Firefox saves it in Downloads, rather than just letting me read it. How do I prevent this?

In earlier versions of Firefox, I was able to open a document e.g. an email attachment or a document following a link in a website, and then decide if I wanted to save it or just read it. Now more often than not, it automatically saves it to Downloads, though not every time. The choices in Settings/General relate only to choosing which folder to save them in, and not to opt not to save at all. By way of example, I went to www.overseal.org, then chose Documents and Budget 2013-2014.
This means that nothing appears to happen on screen, and to view the document, I have to go to Downloads, and subsequently delete it from there if I don't want to keep it. Can I change a setting somewhere to revert to previous practice please?
