Acrobat Updater plug-in fails to install

I'm running Mac OS 10.4.11 on Mac G5 Quad, 6.5GB RAM, and whenever I run the Adobe Updater for my CS3 programs, I get a dialog box that says, "A new version of the Adobe Updater is available for installation. Click OK to install it now.", so I do, and it downloads and starts to mount a dmg or something, then I get an error message, "Adobe Acrobat Updater plug-in failed to install.", so I never know if it updated the rest of the Suite or not, can't find any info about this. Has anyone found the answer to this? Thanks! :)

Hi Meisha,
I have had the same problem for months now and cannot figure out how to solve this. I have seen another discussion with the same topic "Adobe Acrobat updater plug-in failed to install" but am unable to reply to the discussion for some reason. I'm new to using the forum.
Someone in that discussion (Donald Raymond) posted a command, but I don't understand how to effect the command nor how to reach him to ask him to clarify. The discussion link is here:
I wish that Adobe would address this issue and give a valid solution. Otherwise, I'm unable to update my CS3 products on Mac OS. I also tried to install a download of a new Adobe update manager, but that didn't solve the issue.
I hope someone can help us!

  • Symbian Anna update 1/2 failed to install

The story so far. I did the first round Anna update (around 27 mb i think) OTA cos my Ovi Suite never able to update firmware on my n8 since trying to update it to PR 1.2, and I did try reinstalling, redownload, reboot PC, reg clean, ccleaner to fix the Suite but it still do not update my firmware at all. But that's another story.
So I installed the 1st round, n8 rebooted to white screen, rebooted into homesceen with Midnight theme. SW update then shows 4 more items: Anna update 1/2, 2/2, Store and Social. The 1/2 was showing around 20++ mb. So I selected all 4 and update. Halfway through the installing process of 1/2 update (note the download part of 1/2 was very fast), I did plug in the power pin, cos the installation process was damn slow for 1/2. I did not notice wheher it finised installing cos later i checked it was already on 2/2 (downloaded and installing). It then went to the last two items and installed ok.
Rebooted device, but SW update still showed Anna update 1/2 available (the only one left) and the download size is now 7166 kb. I proceed to update it, it failes with error but no error codes or any message what was the error about. I tried again and again, with fresh reboots, still failes. What gives?
Even more, split screen not here. I did the uninstalling Swype, activating qwerty mode in portrait, still no split screen.  I do not have any Betalabs apps.
My Quickoffice & Reader is not here anymore (the app manager not showing them too). Heck I bought the full ver of Quickoffice 6 last time. Wat a waste of my money now that ver 7 is out!!
Anyone knows how to delete the "dowloaded cache" of SW updates? I want to force SW update to redownload this 1/2 item to try fix this issue.
Thanks for listening and please help. Cheers!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I got the same problem since this morning on both my N8 & just found out solution on a previous update error similar to this & completed the update on one of the N8. Re-trying on another one.
Working Solution for failed update was found on Flashism's website quoted & "touched up" per below:
Big thanks to user “Unick” on Nokia Support Forums, who posted a working solution to the problem, and there are couple of successful installs reported from the solution.
I just deleted folder E:\Private\20019119\. After that I ran SW update on the phone & it restarted download of Symbian Anna Update 1/2 & 2/2 as well as Social, they  finished updates successfully.
To delete the mentioned folder, follow these simple steps:
    • Connect your Nokia N8/C7 in Mass Storage mode to PC via USB cable
    • Locate and delete folder named “20019119″ under \Private folder of Mass Storage
    • Unplug the device from PC, and retry again. It should work.
However, I still got no popup split keyboard after completing the updates & restarted the phone.

Should I be asking here? I'm not sure if I'm eligible to talk to a Apple representative directly.
    Thanks all!

I figured it out. I had sym-linked my /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5 to the macports version of Python. Restoring this back to the original 2.5.1 version fixed the problem.
If anyone else is having issues installing this update, make sure you restore anything you've modified (listed here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3438) to the stock versions.
    Cheers.

  • Acrobat Update 8.1.4 wont install

    Hi,
i've got an intel mac with system 10.5.7 an cs3. when i try to update my acrobat, for several weeks now, the error accours: Adobe Acrobat 8.1.4 (KB408682) could not be installed. I have always updated my mac and the cs3. What is this? Is there a solution?
    Thanks for your help

Check to see if you already have 8.1.4. I've heard there is a 8.1.5 now but since I have moved on to Acrobat 9 I don't know.
If that's not the problem (Acrobat won't allow update of an application to the version you have and will throw up some similar as you describe), then you might have to use the uninstaller in the Acrobat 8 folder in applications folder to completely uninstall, then reinstall doing each update in turn before using Acrobat.
Try using Disk Utility to repair permission. Click on Repair. If there is nothing to repair it will do the samething as verify anyway, and will save you a step.
Go internet, and locate the version of AppleJack for your system (its written specifically for each OSX indicated). Install and then restart in Single User mode. At Prompt (blinking white square), type applejack for normal operation, or AppleJack for deep cleaning Will be explained on screen just above prompt.  3 and 4 you run twice first for system, then second for user. IF you've never done anything to your computer these steps might take minutes because; it will remove tons and tons of old Cache files that re replaced (rebuilt) as the need arises for them. Once complete, quit per directions and restart per direction.
After this for a minute or two it will look like you have ruined you computer, Fear not, the computer is rebuilding required system files. You might even see the blue screen for a Minute or less. Even the Main menu items and the dock will be affected.
After computer is completely up, you notice things go faster, for a while.
After sytem has completely loaded go back and try the update. AppleJack will fix some odd problems nothing else will.
If that doesn't work try downloading fro Adobe the newest update and update that way.
If That doesn't work the create a new User in System Accounts and install on that Account. If works then there is a conflict on your ssytem betwen the installer, or Acrobat, and something else on system.
Also make sure any third part plugins are removed first, and Acrobat updated to latest version and, are reinstalled after the update.

There was an error installing this update.  Please quit and try again later.

Go to the Camera Raw product page and download and install the update manually...Adobe Updater doesn't always do the right thing with regards to Camera Raw.

  • Boot Camp Update 3.1 fails to install

I'm using a MacBook Pro 2010 and I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 using Boot Camp. I installed with Boot Camp 3.0, and in Windows the Apple Software Update tool wants me to update to 3.1. Three times now I have downloaded, installed, and restarted my computer, and after every time that same tool tells me that I should update to 3.1.
Notes: I am running a with a single user account, which is a password-protected Administrator account. I give the software permission to run, of course.
Possibly related(?): At every startup into Windows, after the OS select and before the Windows load screen, I get a black screen with a single flashing underscore. I am wondering if it is trying, and failing, to apply the remainder of the 3.1 patch? Any other ideas? The black screen lasts for approximately 15 to 20 seconds before Windows continues to load.

I have the same problem. Could you help me?
    Thanks.

  • Asset Intelligence Update Service Point fails to install

    Hi,
I have one SCCM 2012 sp1 cu2 primary site running on Windows 2008 R2, and a separate SQL 2008 R2 database runnining in a cluster.
I installed the Asset Intelligence Service point using the default settings, but the component is critical.
When I look in AIUSMSI.log it tells me I do not have permissions to configure services - I am a local administrator on the primary server though and I can manuall stop and start services - error is:
Product: Asset Intelligence Update Service Point -- Error 1920. Service 'AI_Upate_Service_Point failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I ran the AIUS.msi and recieved the same error.
I went into services and stopped and restarted BITS, so my permissions seem fine. Has anyone else seen this problem?
    Thanks
    Jaz

I have created a Reddit in SCCM, describing my peoblem.
Please, can anyone take a look at it?
    http://www.reddit.com/r/SCCM/comments/2jbkfr/asset_inteligence_update_service_installation_ai/
    it goes like this:
I have came across an error entry in Monitoring node in SCCM console. Monitoring - System Status - Component Status, there was an entry about AI Update Service giving errors like this:
    1) On 10/15/14 08:38:03, component SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER on computer "SERVER FQDN" reported: Site Component Manager failed to reinstall this component on this site system.
Solution: Review the previous status messages to determine the exact reason for the failure. Site Component Manager will automatically retry the reinstallation in minutes. To force Site Component
Manager to immediately retry the reinstallation, stop and restart Site Component Manager using the Configuration Manager Service Manager.
    2) Product: Asset Intelligence Update Service Point -- Error 1920. Service 'AI_UPDATE_SERVICE_POINT' (AI_UPDATE_SERVICE_POINT) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start
    system services.
What I have tried to do: - Reinstall the role from ConfigMgr console
    - Install the AI role manualy from .\ConfigMgr\bin\x64\AIUS.msi with elevated rights (domain admin rights) and from elevated CMD (domain admin rights) - Install the AIUS.msi with local administrator
    account
    Manual installation was both:
    - During the time SCCM tries to reinstall the role by it self
    - During the time the role isn't installed at all
    - During the time the role was installed before it was uninstalled for the first time when I started troubleshooting this
Basically nothing can start the service during the installation, not even account with domain admin rights.
Do you have any idea what can I do next?

I haven't been able to get the last 3-4 updates to install.  They get almost to the end and then I get an error message "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.  Contact your support or package vendor."  I've tried turning off my antivirus and my firewall before running the update but the updates still won't complete the installation.  I've also tried to install each manually but that doesn't work either.

    Things I have tried:
    - hotfix tool
    - disabling virus protection
    - downloading and manually installing the update (Error: the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.)
    - downloading and running this update: Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64.msu
    - update from Windows Install DVD (I think this is called an in-place install)
I fear I will have to format and reinstall Windows and all my programs. Is there anything else I can try? Is it terribly risky to simply continue working without this update?

    Method 1:
Follow the instructions in the link below to rename Software distribution and catroot folders and try to install the service pack.
