Acrobat v9.4.6 Update does not update Firefox v3.6 Adobe PDF Plug-In
I have Acrobat Pro v9.4.6.252 and I havd used the Repair Acrobat Installation option but I notice that Firefox v3.6.22 and now Firefox v3.6.23 is still using Adobe Acrobat PDF Plug-In v9.4.5.236. Should the repair Acrobat installation of Acrobat Pro not update the Firefox Plug-Ins as well?
Just curious if anyone else noticed this as well.
Thanks.

Automatic updates are sent to my machine when I run an Adobe
program, usually just when I have gotten started on a project.
Halfway through the update, the system asks that I shut down the
running Adobe program (regardless of whether it is the one being
updated). So I shut it down and a few seconds later it asks for it
to be shut down again. This is repeated until I go into Task
Manager and stop any processes related to Adobe, after which the
update will usually (but not always - Acrobat for instance)
install.
Question 1: Why do the Adobe processes not shut down
themselves when a program is exited?
Question 2: Why are the Adobe programmers unable to provide
an update that waits until the machine is to be turned off, closes
any adobe related processes other than the update, and then does
the update.
I am sure that others have similar problems, so why has a fix
not been issued?
Howard WalkerBasically, Adobe Update stinks.... i do all my updates
manually.. and in
this vein was amazed to see Adobe trying to download a 300+mb
download on a
couple of ocassions for programs that were already updated.
After that, just
turned off the auomatic update feature. no problems now... :)

Creative cloud update, does not update it deletes
When trying to UPDATE Creative Cloud, it runs through the "motions, but it deletes the files out of the folder, it does not re-install anything. This has happened the last 3 or 4 times I have tried and is becoming bloody annoying!!! the only way to "FIX" it is to completely re-install the Creative Cloud. It is SUPPOSED to UPDATE not REMOVE/DELETE!!! ADOBE is becoming far too unreliable now and still charging me top Dollar for my membership, as there are no real alternatives and I really do need the software Adobe hold me to ransom... I have telephoned them for support in the past the told me to download CC again and re-install it. BUT this DOES NOT FIX THE BLOODY PROBLEM!!!! no other programs have any issue on my system so it IS an Adobe flaw/fault. I am sick of speaking to people who can hardly speak English for support I need someone who I can understand and who WILL follow up with the technicians and FIX this problem!!!
Not to really go into a bash Adobe thing but this AAM issue is actually one of the lower less problematic issues Adobe has with thier software. Yeah it is a problem but compared to the other issues this isn't really in the top ten.
Macs.. Can't help you there sorry. Windows guy here but if I could I would help best I could. Could be a permissions issue like on Windows 7 64bit, maybe try permissions on the software? Though if you can't install anything at all in the first place that would be a bigger issue. On windows they have a help about this issue on Adobe's site but I did not see a mac version for same issue, they may have one but I really wasn't looking for mac related as I don't have mac.
Search the help knowledge base for problems installing cloud software, should find something. Sorry couldn't be of more help. -
EA6400 firmware update does not update
Just got my new EA6400 router and after installation I saw there is a firmware update.
current firmware 1.1.40 (build 153731)
new firmware 1.1.40 (build 160989)
After updating the firmware what seems to be successful, no errors and a message box at the end that the firmware update was successful, the firmware still is on the old version!
I tried a number of things to make sure I did nothing wrong:
- reset modem
- manual firmware update
- factory reset
- tried with differen browsers (chrome, IE) and from different machines and operating systems wired and wirelessTake a look at the change log on the support site and see if there is anything worth while in the new version. If not then I wouldn't even try to update. Usually there isn't much if any change to a build number difference on the same release number. And I would advise you to uncheck the autoupdates if they're are checked. Bettrr to do it manually where you can control what and when on your own.

Garage Band update does not update on i-pad?
I'm trying to update garage band but nothing is happening. It says it's "installing" but it's said that for 36 hours, with many re-trys.
Sorry - I meant iPad.
I updated Garage Band using iTunes a few days ago. It took about 10 minutes in total (download and install). I guess it depends on your connection speed (and reliability). If your connection blips or times out then it will keep retrying. My connection is approx. 16 Mbps and very stable.
I guess you have the latest version of iTunes running ? If you have, then I think it must be to do with your ISP. -
Windows update does not work after using System recovery disk
I have a Toshiba Satellite c655 with WIndows 7 64 bit Home premium. The hard drive died on it, so I purchased a new hard drive and purchased the appropriate Recovery media from Toshiba. I followed the directions and installed the 3 disks on to the new hard drive. But Windows update does not work I get the following error: Windows update can not currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your PC No matter what I try, I can not get it to work. And it will not let me install Windows Defender either. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time on this matter.
Solved!
Go to Solution.I get errors saying A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting.
That makes two similarities to the following thread. Both Windows Update and Troubleshooters fail to work correctly.
Trouble with reinstall of Win7 64 on a L505-ES5018
The fix was to install a new hard disk driver.

"The updater does not have a firmware image"
My initial problem was that I suddenly could not copy purchased music from iTunes to my iPod. I tried the suggestion of downloading the iPod Updater. The Updater did indicate that my iPod software, 2.2, "needs update". Upon attempting to install the Updater (by clicking 'Update'), I received the following message: "The Updater does not have a firmware image." I notice that SEVERAL people are having the same problem at this very moment on this message board. I hope someone from Apple notices this fiasco and does something to fix it. Please help. Restoring my iPod is not an option for me. Thanks.
Yes, I've had this problem too. And the iPod has not been updated with any of the tracks I bought since updating to iTunes 5, but iTunes REloaded all the older tracks onto my iPod. Why? Seeing as the upgrade to iTunes 5 was a bit traumatic in itself, I'm not altogether surprised to discover the newer tracks had not been copied: there is obviously some incompatability here somewhere - but goodness knows where.

Current platform : Linux
Current firefox version : Firefox 4 beta 12
Issue : does not update to RC 1 using the check for update feature.
Background : previously downloaded beta 8 and then it automatically updated to beta 12 using update features but for RC1, it does not.
I know users under Windows platform had same problem but was resolved and they can now update via check for update feature.
Please implement for Linux users too.
Thanks !!If you can't update then you can download and install the full Firefox 4 RC version.

Can't add music my iPhone from iTunes.
When I try to drag a song over to my phone, I get the circle w/ the syncing line through it, but it does not update/load.
[Manually manage music and videos] is checked. And, this is the only Mac I have ever used to add music to my phone.
Also, just updated the phone's software today, and iTunes' software is already up to date.Hi Gregg,
Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.
Cheers,

ITunes 10.6.1 Update button for iOS update does not work (a bug)
iTunes 10.6.1 Update button on iOS device Summary / Version page does not update devices. It only checks the iTunes version!
With iTunes 10.6.1, connect an iPad, iPhone, iPod running pre-6 iOS version.
On iPad Summary / Version page, next to [Update] button the message says:
"A newer version of the iPad software is available (version 6.0). To update your iPad with the latest software, click Update."
However, clicking the [Update] button will not start update iPad. Instead it gives you a dialog saying:
"This version of iTunes (10.6.1) is the current version".
Obviously it should start updating the i-device there but instead just goes and check the iTunes version ?!?
A Bug!
What's really annoying in this bug is that it's the only way to update pre iOS 5.x devices, which is now impossible!
Apple should get this fixed asap!
Anyone found any workarounds?
[Edit]: There seems to be another discussion of this issue already:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/19671173#19671173Just forgot to add, yes, I know there's iTunes 10.7 but it's only available on Snow Leopard and higher.
The machine in question is an old macbook, running Leopard (10.5.8), that it will propably never get upgraded.
Since most my older i-devices were initially synced with that particular machine, I'll be now stuck with iOS updates, without loosing content. -
How do I download IOS5 onto a first generation ipad? Software Update does not appear under General in Settings on the first generation ipad.
The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

Mobile.me Calendar does not update/sync on iPhone
Since I did my upgrade to the new version of Mobile.me Calendar (as requested by Apple!), my iPhone no longer shows entries that I have typed into the Mobile.me Calender website. I no longer use iCal because Apple said it would not work with the new version of Calendar on Mobile.me, so I did the upgrade to stay in sync with calendars on my mobile.me site and iPhone, but the iPhone does not update. I deleted my calendar entries on my iPhone hoping that the Mobile.me would re-sync the data, but that didn't happen either. Here is my info:
iPhone version 3.1.3(7E18) Model MA712LL (first original iPhone)
What else can I tell you to help me please? Please always post your System details when you have a question. The upgrade to the new MobileMe calendar produces different results, and different problems, with different versions of OSX.
Snow Leopard: during the upgrade process your iCal calendars should be moved to MobileMe (this can take some time and you have to wait for it to happen). Once done, your iCal reads the calendars from MobileMe so any changes made in either place will be visible immediately. If this has not happened then this Apple Tech Note provides instructions:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3397
Leopard: when the upgrade is completed iCal on Leopard will not be able to see the MobileMe calendars until an additional process is carried out, detailed in this Apple Tech Note:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4330
Tiger: iCal on Tiger cannot read the MobileMe calendars, period. The only workaround is to upgrade to Leopard, or Snow Leopard if possible (Intel Mac required). -
Manual sync to ITunes does not update music
I have a generation 3 (I think--it looks like the model number is A1318) IPOD Touch running version 4.1 operating system. I have ITunes version 12.0.1.26.
It does not automatically sync. When I select manual sync, it appears to go through the process and indicates that it has completed the sync, but nothing has changed. It does not update the IPOD with new songs from my library.
Any help would be appreciated. For example are thees operating systems compatible? If they are what am I doing wrong.
Thanks
RonTry backing up to iTunes and restore from backup
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
Note that ll the synced media like apps and music have to be on the computer since they are not included in the backup
