Acrobat version?

I have a new iMac with 2 platforms Mac: OS x 10.8.2 and PC: Windows 7 64-bit operating system. I had another acrobat that was not compatible to my system and it would freeze as I would try to combine files on the PC side. What version of Acrobat do I need so I would be able to print pdf, combine files and convert my documents to pdf?

Hi Gloria,
You would need both WIN and MAC versions of Acrobat XI. Standard for WIN and PRO for MAC. IF you want to use it on both platforms. That would be up to you.
Let me know if that helped!

  • How to Install Adobe Acrobat Version 6.0 or later

How do I download adobe acrobat version 6.0 or later?

Basically, the only download for Acrobat that Adobe now provides is for AA XI at the Adobe store. As mentioned, you have left out a lot of information for us to help. It sounds like you will need a new purchase of AA XI (not an upgrade). If you are talking about Reader, that is a totally different product and the link is provided on the www.adobe.com home page.

  • Cannot Copy and Paste in Adobe Acrobat Version 9 Standard

I just bought a new computer and with it I purchased Adobe Acrobat Version 9 Standard.  In the past I used previous version of Acrobat standard and professional to create drawings and to copy and paste my engineering seal on my structural calculations.  I am having (2) problems.  The first is when I try to copy and paste my seal from a PDF file, it does not work in Version 9.  I use the snap shot tool.  Please try the attached file using Version 9.  It works in Version 8 Standard and Version 7 professional.
The second is when I try to printing from AutoDesk products.  I had the problem of when I would print a PDF from AutoCAD it would sooo big.  To work around that, I started using Autodesk Reviewer and creating my PDFs from an Autodesk DWF file.  WIth Version 9, I now having the file size problem with the DWF files.  It is about 5 times larger than the DWF and the qualtiy is terrible.  I was able to create a PDF from a DWF from Version 7 and 8 without these problems.

It has been a part of Acrobat for a while now but DWF was added in Acrobat 8, I believe. As far as older versions are concerned, the version of AutoCAD you have matters. See: http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfitmatters/2008/12/version_compatibility_of_acrob.html. In addition, AutoCAD 2009 is supported in Acrobat 9.1.
I would recommend downloading a trial copy of Acrobat and see if it meets your requirements.

  • PDF file error in  Acrobat version 9.0

    Hi guys,
I am able to see the see PDF document via document viewer tcode - SDV if the local desktop Acrobat version is 7.0 but in other machines which has Acrobat reader 9.0. the document cannot be opened it saves in the desktop as .FAX file.
I am using the SAPGUI version 640 release.
Please let me know the reason.
    regards,
    Prabhu

    Hello Prabhu,
this is a known issue. Please see note 1308147:
The ECL Viewer 6.0 delivered with the SAP GUI 7.10 Compilation 3 has
compatibility issues with Adobe 9 (Adobe Reader 9 or Adobe Professional
9 or Adobe Standard 9). The SAP GUI crashes/freezes when viewing PDF
    files in transactions like SNOTE.
The same problem is experienced if the standalone version of the ECL
Viewer 6.0 is used with Adobe 9. But in this case the SAP GUI
crash/freeze happens only if the ECL Viewer 6.0 is used in applications
like SAP Document Mgmt. System to view PDFs first followed by PDF
    viewing in transaction like SNOTE
    Other terms
    ECL Viewer 6.0, Adobe 9, SAP GUI 7.10 C3
    Reason and Prerequisites
The ECL Viewer 6.0 supplies Adobe libraries which are not compatible
with the ones supplied with Adobe Reader 9.
The note is applicable to you only if you have installed the SAP GUI
7.10 C3 with the Engineering Client Viewer for SAP GUI 7.10.
Also, If in case you have installed the standalone version of the ECL
Viewer 6.0 and use it in applications which use ECL Viewer within the
    SAP GUI
    Solution
The Current workaround is to use lower versions of Adobe Reader till
there is further update on this incompatibility.
For more details on work arounds, please refer to the link given below
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/plm/adobe9-SAPGUIc

  • Which is the correct Registry Path to Get Adobe Acrobat Version?

    Hi All
Originally, this post was put  on [Acrobat Windows] forum, i am reposting it here, since i didnt get any answer.
I am currently using Adobe Acrobat 9.1.3 Pro in my Win XP - SP3 machine.
I would like to know how can i get the 'CORRECT' version of the installed Adobe Acrobat from the registry.
Under windows Registry, i could find two places
    - HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.App\AcrobatVersion.
    - HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document\AcrobatVersion.
Among these two, the first keys value shows as 8.0 and the latter shows as 9.0. I guess the first one is the correct place to look but it shows as 8.0.
by the way, i have installed it on a fresh clean machine. So is it a bug from Adobe Acrobat ? or is it correct for Adobe Acrobat ( may be in some way).
In that case can i  use 'AcroExch.Document' but will it be retained in the future versions also.
    thanks in advance
    regards
    ~jafeel

    Hi Patrick,
We are using it to query the version of the installed Adobe Acrobat in the machine in which our application is installed. If it doesnt matches our criteria, we ask the user to have the correct version to be installed.
We queried the OLE interface for the Acrobat Version because at a time you are suppose to have one installation of the Adobe Acrobat. And morevoer the OLE reg path is giving the 'Acrobat Version'. For AA8.X both the OLE registry keys were having the same version number i.e 8.0.
Yes, i guessed that the reason for multiple versions under the [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\X.0\Installer] may be for some backward compatibility. Anycase, i have already gone with the HKLM...\X.0\Installer path way.
But why is that the OLE interfaces in the registry shows two different 'Acrobat Version' for the AA9.??
    thanks and regards

  • From where can i download Adobe acrobat version 5.0

    Hi All,
I have a requirement which gets resolved only with acrobat version 5.0 (comparing secured PDF documents). I was unable to find the download location of version 5.0. It will be of great help if some one could share me the location of the same.

I have not heard of any download locations for AA 5. There are sites that go back to AA7, but that is about it. All I can suggest is to see if someone in your organization still has the CDs (there may be a few like me that don't throw out much of anything, though I don't think I even have AA 5 anymore).

  • Differences between the "Adobe Acrobat Versions 7 and 9"

    Dear Adobe Support Team,
I need to know the differences between the "Adobe Acrobat Versions 7 and 9". I have worked with Acrobat 7 and have used the same script after installing Acrobat 9 for Automation Testing with QTP for validating pdf. The object "AcroExch.AVDoc" is not getting identified as object while working in QTP in the system/machine which has Acrobat 9 installed, whereas it works well in the machine which has Acrobat 7 installed . So it will be better if two things are known as per my understanding, ie.,
it must have compatibility issue (i need the difference between "Adobe Acrobat versions 7 & 9" to assure this) or
installation issue( which can be confirmed if the former question is answered).
So i kindly request you to help me out for this scenario.
    Kind Regards,
    Vikraman.G

Countless new features were introduced between Acrobat 7 and 9, are you really expecting us to type out a full list from memory?
If you are having specific issues with the Acrobat SDK, first refer to the Acrobat SDK for the higher version. If there remains an issue I suggest posting about the specific problem in the Acrobat SDK forum, rather than asking for an encylopedia of all possible information...
Note that Adobe do not support multiple installations of Acrobat on the same machine, so you can expect development issues if you do this.

  • Acrobat versions and form

Is there a way to keep a form from opening in an acrobat version lower than 8.x.  When opening the form in a lower version, Acrobat offers to upgrade. But if you  don't, it will still open, but some of the form doesn't work or display correctly.  I would rather it not open at all.

    Hi,
You can use xfa.host.version property to define version of Reader and write if condition to prevent form opening.

  • Problem with the  Adobe Acrobat version 10.1.4 (Review Tracker)

    Friends!:
I have a big problem, just a few days ago we installed the Adobe Acrobat version 10.1.4
The next version this is creating problems for the users, because normally we use the review (Track Review) to comment online, but this began to fail, because that is not saving posted by the users in the documents and is generating problems.
    HELP PLEASE, THANKS
ps: We using the Windows XP

I have a wild guess, that's all. Do you perhaps have the disk formatted as "case sensitive"?

  • Get the Adobe Acrobat version

    Hello,
For my next plugin I need to support Acrobat 8 and 9. The plugin will be installed in the correct installation path (in Adobe 8 or 9) during the installation. But I don't know if it's possible to know the Acrobat version used by the plugin.
Do you know a function which gives the version of Acrobat?
    Thanks in advance,

You can find this information also in the Acrobat and PDF Library API Reference. Or did you develop your plug-in without this documentation?

  • [bug locked] Is the OCR capability of Adobe Acrobat Version 9 more advanced?

    Hi
The OCR of Adobe Acrobat Version 7 is not yielding satisfactory results, especially on numerical figures.
Is the OCR capability of Adobe Acrobat Version 9 more advanced? If yes, can you suggest where I can read more about the extended OCR facilities provided?
Thank you for your assistance in that matter.
    Ashvin

It /could be/. What a strange way to ask a question. You could always grab
the trial and see for yourself. If you install the trial; be sure to remove
    version 8 entirely first.
Please note: I read this Forums through e-mail. If you respond to me; please
quote, otherwise I have no idea whom your response is addressed to or the
context. This is all thanks to how this forum doesn't work properly, yet.

  • Render PDF component - PDF and Acrobat version

We are using the Render PDF component in Workbench to generate a PDF. We require the PDF to be compatible with Acrobat version 6 and higher. When we set the PDF version in the Render PDF input properties, or set a value less than 7.0.5 for Acrobat version, the PDF does not get generated. Is the Render PDF component not capable of generating PDF compatible with Acrobat versions lesser than 7.0.5?
    Thanks.

The target version in Form Properties->Defaults is set to Acrobat or Adobe Reader 6.0.2 or later.

  • Acrobat versions conflicts, GetObject of a specific Acrobat version with dotnet

    Hello,
I am developing a Windows/VB.Net application that uses "Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Type Library" to interact with Acrobat.
At a certain point this application must launch Acrobat 7.0 and to do that I use a GetObject(, "acroexch.app") and a CreateObject("acroexch.avdoc") to instanciate an Acrobat.CAcroApp and an Acrobat.CAcroAVDoc object:
    Dim acroApp As Acrobat.CAcroApp = GetObject(, "acroexch.app")
    Dim acroAvDoc As Acrobat.CAcroAVDoc = CreateObject("acroexch.avdoc")
    If acroAvDoc.Open(path, filename) Then
    acroApp.Show()
    Else
    acroApp.Exit()
    End If
This works fine except when Acrobat 5.0 is also installed on the PC.
Because if the user has admin rights and launches Acrobat 5.0 then the next time he/she tries my application it raises an exception on "acroAvDoc.Open(path, filename)". I know that this problem comes from Acrobat 5.0 because when the user launches Acrobat 7.0 and executes the "Detect and Repair" menu item (under "?" menu) then my application works fine again.
    So my questions are:
1°) is it possible to specify the Acrobat version when using CreateObject and GetObject? As with a kind of GetObject(, "acroexch.app.acrobat7")?
2°) is it possible to avoid the registry modification made when Acrobat 5.0 is executed with admin rights?
3°) if none of the previous points are possible then is there any other way around this problem? (such as executing Acrobat 7.0 with Shell(acrobat7ExePath) and then retrieving the Acrobat.CAcroApp from the ProcessID?)
    Any hint will be helpful.

Aandi, thank you for your reply. If Acrobat 5 has been launched at least once after installing Acrobat 7 then it modifies the registry in such a manner that even if you restart the computer and execute Acrobat 7 all ProgIDs from the SDK refer to Acrobat 5 (and then my application crashes). So you are right, using GetObject and CreateObject with the PRogIDs "acroexch.app" and "acroexch.avdoc" will not lead anywhere with conflicting versions of Acrobat.
About executing Acrobat 7 with the "Shell()" command, is it possible to instanciate the Acrobat.CAcroApp object only by knowing the ProcessID?
Such as (with acroPath being the path to Acrobat 7.0 exe file):
    Dim processID as integer = Shell(acroPath, AppWinStyle.MinimizedNoFocus)
Dim proc As Process = Process.GetProcessById(processID)
    Dim acroApp As Acrobat.CAcroApp = SuperUnknownFunction(proc)
To John T Smith: sorry if I did a mistake when I chose "Acrobat Windows" forum for my post. As this problem was tightly related to Windows registry I thought that it was the right place. Is it possible to move this discussion on another forum?
