Acrobat Will Not Allow Save?

I have Acrobat 9, Pro Extended (9.5.5). Running on Windows 7 Proffesional.
Also in case relevant, MS Office 2007. Autocad 2009Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign CS4.
I create files mostly from programs such as Autocad, MS Word, MS Excel, or others and sometiems bind varisou PDF's into one document.
This all works fine, I can even work on the PDF right away and save.
BUT - Once saved and closed, if I open the same PDF again and make changes it will not let me save agina- I am forced to "save as".
Why? How do I fix thsi?
This is is getting really old and annpoying - it only started happening in past month or two (I think).

Hi, thanks for replying.
I have tried that, but this "attribute", if you will, stays with the file once created - worse, even if I "save as", the same problem occurs with the newly named file after I close it and go to work on it again some other day. So I am now perpetually re-naming and deleting versiosn of the same pdf to work around this... losing my mind.
p.s. It doesn't happen when I am working with older files I have from other sources, or have created in past, or "saved as" - in past- only ones I create...
EDIT: it is happening to a file I recived from a consultant, thatI am marking up - I already had saved as "mark up..." but once i re-opened and later tried to save my notes/whatever, it would not let me.

Downloaded pdf application form will not allow save action. What is the problem?

I have downloaded a funding application form from Harcourts Foundation. They require me to fill it in save, and send it back to them. However when I try to save it states that you cannot save data typed into this form. If I try to "save as" it just states Adobe can only save a blank copy of this form.
This problem started when I downloaded the latest security update from Adobe today. I would appreciate some help. Thank you.

First check the version of the document with Jongware's script "Identify.jsx" (ExtendScript/JavaScript).
You can find it here:

If it is CS 5.5 or above, you need someone to open it in the version the script says and export an IDML representation from that. Another way would be to install a 30days version of CS6 or above (CC) and do it yourself.
In regards of the script showing a result for InDesign files higher than CS6:
CS7 = CC v9
CS8 = CC v10 = CC-2014 or CC2014.1

Try exporting to .idml. If that works, openthe .idml and save as a new .indd.
If it doesn't work, force quit ID and then restart. Auto-recovery should kick in and reopen the file at about the last state, then try again.

I have acrobat standard and it will not allow me to edit.. every file i go to open it says "there is a active file open and must close in acrobat" other times it says account cannot be validated after I have already paid for it.. please advise

The account cannot be validated error was due to a glitch on our activation server that has been fixed now.
Please try using acrobat now and check if you are still facing the problem.

When trying to save a bookmark to a specific pre-established folder the window disappears and will not allow me to make a selection. If I hover in the area it will flash on the screen and disappear again, it's annoying please help!

When I attempt to save a new bookmark and want to save it in a folder the window that typically appears just below the address bar will not stay on the screen. It flashes on the screen and as soon as I move my cursor over it, it disappears. It will not allow me to make a selection of any kind. If I randomly hover over the general area the window will flash back in view but disappear again just as quickly. If I then show all my bookmarks, the bookmark was saved and I have to move it to the folder I actually want it in. Just a few extra steps, but still very annoying. Please help!

I purchased it from my University bookstore and the attending clerk was no better informed than was I.
The form is required to be infilled in order to receive the serial number necessary for installation of the software
After five hours of trying, I was able to overcome the flaw in the form, as it appeared on the Acrobat website, and
complete the two pull-down menus indicating the State in which I live.
I called Adobe Customer Care for assistance and had to wait two hours for a return call, and by the time the
call came though I had found that the website form allowed me to pull-down for the State of location.
Adobe is an uncaring vendor, once it has your money in hand.

Photoshop CC will not allow me to save any files. It will bring up the "save as" window, but then it immediately disappears when trying to select a save location. No error messages, it just disappears. Any ideas? Running it on a Mac OS X Mavericks. Have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, created a new profile which worked for a few saves, but started doing it on the new profile as well.

Computer will not allow me to save/copy images any longer

I've recently switched from a PC to Mac. I am trying to figure out why my computer will not allow me to drag a pic from Safari into a document or folder for me to save. It worked fine for hours today and now whatever I try will not work. I've even switched websites and programs (first tried saving directly to folder and then tried dragging into Word). Could I have possible turned that fuction off? Please help! Thanks

I uninstalled Photoshop CC along with the preferences.
I restarted, and logged back into Creative Cloud
where i reinstalled Photoshop CC.
Began immediately working in the program
and of course testing the save for web feature along with the other save options.
Seems that all is well. I hope this works for you as it did me.

It sounds to me like you're trying to open a PDF via one of the Acrobat online services, not via Acrobat. Did you install the file that you downloaded after you signed up? Once you do, Acrobat will be installed on your computer, and you can run it locally (you don't access an Acrobat Pro subscription via the web--it works just like a version of Acrobat that you might purchase from the Adobe Store, or a large retailer).
Then, you'll open the Acrobat application from your desktop and choose File > Open to open your PDF file.

InDesign will not allow me to save my work. Why is this? Time sensitive project.

I downloaded the free trial for InDesign, and have been using it to work on an important project. I have had the free trial for a little while, but I am not exactly sure how long. I opened it about an hour ago, and it still offered the "continue trial" option, so I clicked it, but now it will not allow me to save or export my file to PDF. I am near completion on the project. It is due today, but if I am not able to save the file, I will not be able to submit the assignment. Is my inability to save the file a result of the trial running out mid-session? If so, what can I do to recover the work I have done?

Try a Save As
Create another document and move pages from the problem document to the new - attempt to save
Create a simple, one word document and try to Save or Export
I cannot answer to how the trials work.
I expect you have an acount - (most) current releases are subscription based - check your account status
Check the date stamps in your Program Folders pertinant to InDesign
Find the first InDesign file you made, what is the date history?

Adobe Acrobat XI 11.0.0 will not allow a second signature

After filling in one digital signature block, the form will not allow a second signature. I am using the certificate from an ID card and card reader. I try to use Forms > Edit but it tells me to use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit. Is this really the only way to make a change because I will not be able to install that software on work computers.

That's what I meant. Dang it again. I'm in a very restricted computer environment, so I'm looking for a way to make this work using just Acro Pro 11. It looks like it won't happen. I was wondering if there was a way to convert the document to some other format and then back to .pdf using Acro Pro so that it could edit the form. I'm guessing this isn't going to work either.
