Acrobat won't launch after update

Dear Experts,
I have a very urgent problem to solve.
I am currently running ADOBE Creative Suit 6 Design Standard on my desktop.
It includes an Acrobat. I've using Acrobat for months everything's normal untill there's an update (detail of the update please refer to:http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/release-note/release-notes-acrobat-reader.html"). i installed it and acrobat never launch again.
So I uninstall the Acrobat and install again from the CS6 Design Std DVD and it worked again. I did this back and forth trying to fixed the problem. And i decided not to update any more. And it's working in the older version Adove Acrobat X Pro 10.1.1 . it worked for a couple of weeks, and it won't launch again. Please, help.
System environment:
Windows 7 Enterprise Service pack 1, Hardware: standard Desktop "HP Compaq 8200 Elite Convertible Minitower" with Intel Core i5-2400 Processor, @3.10GHz, 8GB RAM 64-bit OS.
Current location: Guangdong, China. Language environment: OS is in English, Software is in English, but we sometimes need to deal with Chinese language.
PS: Adobe Reader X works well, with mutil-language support.

  • GB, Itunes & Quicktime Won't Launch after update

    Hi,
In desperate need for help. I just did some software updates on Garageband, iTunes and Quicktime on my G4 OS 10.3.9. Upon launching each, none of them are launching now. Help!!!!!

Apperently, after trying different methods, I removed GB, iTunes and Quicktime from my CoreAudio Setup and now everything works. I was using Digi002 as a midi interface and monitoring. Everything used to work with that setup until I did a recent upgrade of Quicktime. I do think that something was changed in my computer when quicktime was upgraded.

  • Final Cut 6.0.5 won't launch after update

I have installed Final Cut on a new Mac Pro. 6.0.1 works fine, but when I update to 6.0.5, I get a failure to launch message. The Error report looks like this: Symbol not found: kPrivateTundraFileWritingOptionsKeyDontValidateTimeCodeWhenWriting
    Referenced from: /Applications/Final Cut 6.0.5/Final Cut Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/MIO.framework/Versions/A/MIO
    Expected in: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreMediaIOServicesPrivate.framework/Versions /A/CoreMediaIOServicesPrivate
    Any ideas anyone?

Tried all that. I've noticed that the problem only occurs on the updated version. I now have 6.0.1 and 6.0.5 in different files on my system. 6.0.1 works fine, but .0.5 fails to launch. Didn't have this problem on my old G5.
If you rename Final Cut Pro, move it to another directory (folder) outside the Applications folder or to a sub folder inside Applications, it will not work correctly and you will have all kinds of problems.
Final Cut Studio places many files at system level, some in directories that are invisible in normal use. They are dependent on all paths to and from the application remaing intact.
I certainly would not recommend having two instances of Final Cut Pro on the same system.
I am not sure that simply deleting the older application will clear this up, so unless someone has a solution, you might be looking at a complete reinstall of the Mac OS and FCS to get you up and running again.

  • Sys Prefs won't launch after update to 10.6.6

    Hi,
V odd problem. Unable to launch sys prefs, some applications (like coda & other text editors). They attempt to load, bounce in the dock, then sit there with the glowing jelly below them. They're showing as unresponsive in force quit. I suspect it may be something to do with 'secrets' which I have installed. Or some other extension.
Can anyone advise how I go about isolating/removing a troublesome extension?
Other extensions are little snitch & growl. I have also run disk utility from the start up disk and done a repair permissions and repair disk... no difference.
    Cheers

Pardon me while I talk to myself
Finally persuaded googles updater software to stop torturing me by deleting the launcher files. This solved the system pref issue, it will now restart properly.
One last problem remains, which may or may not be related. DMG's are incredibly slow to load, small ones (3mb) takes about 4 mins to show. Tried downloading chrome again (because I'm a glutton for punishment) and it's been 6 mins so far and still hasn't mounted.
Anyone know if this is related?

  • Pages/Numbers won't launch after Update

Yesterday I updated to 3.0.1 and 1.0.1 in Pages and Numbers respectively. Before the update, all was fine. Now neither will launch (although Keynote still works). I have trashed the plist files, restarted, reset PRAM. What should I do?
I am a college student who installed the iwork suite at home and didn't bring the disk with me (we use a family pack version). Pages is my word-processing application, I do not on microsoft word. Essentially, my computer has become unusable. Any help is much appreciated!!

First, I wish I had an answer for you. There is little more frustrating than updating working software and having it break.
(we use a family pack version).
I am not a lawyer so take everything I say here as opinion. Also, I don't have much of a stake in whether you obey the license agreement or not. Mostly I want you to know what it says so you can make an informed choice.
First let me quote from the Family Pack license:
This license does not extend to students who reside at a separate on-campus location ... .
Installing a Family Pack program while you are home and then taking that machine to school has always been a gray area for me. However, reinstalling while at school seems to me a direct violation. My opinion is that to stay within your license agreement, you need to buy another copy.

  • ITunes won't launch after update to 7.5

I just updated itunes to 7.5 today and when I attempt to launch it, I get a message that says "The iTunes application could not be opened. There is not enough memory available." I have one gig of RAM so I know thats not the case. I also checked Activity Monitor and there is over 700 mb of free ram. Please help.

Sorry. I thought that would work.
It's clear that Apple has a problem on their hands. I have sent my information to Apple, which sounds remarkably similar to yours. Hopefully by the time we wake in the morning, Apple will have some answers.

  • Safari won't launch after update

I just did a software update today. I updated iTunes, Safari, Quicktime, and Java. None looked to be "major" updates. Now I cannot launch Safari. A window will open and partially load -- then it just quits. I've restarted my computer twice. No luck.
Any idea which update is causing it? Is there a way I can back down from 2.0.1?

    Hi Sally,
    Welcome to Discussions.
When it crashes, can you click on the (Report...) button, select and copy all the text in the window that appears and post it here? It may take a few posts to get it all on due to the maximum message size that can be posted here.
Alternatively, feel free to mail the text to me (click on my name to the left to get my details).

That's pretty vague. If you post a few more details, it might increase the chances that someone can help you.
    - What update?
    - What happens when you try to launch those apps?
    - Besides Firefox, what "some other" apps can you launch?

  • ITunes won't open after update; MacBook Pro, Mac OSX 10.6.8, iTunes version 11.1.5

iTunes won't open after update - help, please; MacBook Pro, Mac OSX 10.6.8, iTunes version 11.1.5.

i had a problem similar to yours and better yet, i have the fix for it. i downloaded maverick 4 months ago and was without itunes ever since. all itunes icon did was bounce. itunes would never open and whats more, is when i would try to update it, i would get a "thank you for downloading itunes!" page , but the download would never work. so i scoured the net for solves. nothing that worked. <4 months later> then last night i took a new approach. i decided even though maverick would not allow me to uninstall itunes, i would find a way to uninstall itunes. then i would reinstall back to 11.1.5 i was successful and heres what i did.
    step one-
Back up your iTunes Library.itl file, found under ~/Music/iTunes
(even tho i didnt, i only had 3 artists in there at the time. and they didnt get erased but i advise you back up just in case.)
    step two-
download itunes 10.7 from apple. i used this link Download it from Apple here
(i pulled the link from Aarons website (awesometast.com). you download 10.7 however you want but i used the link above and have had no issues).
although im not sure you need to do this step ( you may be able to download 11.1.5 itunes without 10.7, i did because i was following intructions from http://awesometoast.com/downgrading-to-itunes-10-7-from-itunes-11-on-osx/
    step 3-
    open Terminal
    step 4-
enter in these 3 commands hitting return after each line. 1st line nothing seems to happen, 2nd line nothing seems to happen and 3rd line gives you a warning and requires password to continue. when i did it, my password didnt appear as i entered it and i hit return without looking, so i entered it in again, although im not sure i had to the 2nd time.
    killall iTunes
    killall "iTunes Helper"
    sudo rm -rf /Applications/iTunes.app/
    step 5-
drag off and dump the itunes icon (which now has the ? shadow in it) off your dock.
    step 6-
install 10.7 itunes you downloaded earlier. (not sure if this part is neccesary. you may be able to just download 11.1.5 but i downloaded 10.7 because i was following Aarons steps.) itunes now works.
    step 7-
go to apple and update to 11.1.5 itunes. install it. open it and you have itunes 11.1.5 in perfect working order. assuming you have a decent internet speed for the downloads, the whole process takes very little time.
with those steps above, you can solve itunes just bouncing and not launching issues and also the "thank you for downloading" and nothing downloads issue. enjoy. also i would like to give a shout out to http://awesometoast.com and thank Aaron for the knowledge that enabled me to get itunes back into my life.

  • ICal won't launch after 10.5.2 upgrade

my iCal won't launch after 10.5.2 upgrade. it won't even give an "unexpectedly quit" message, it pops up then quits, then nothing. This happened immediately after the upgrade today. I got the leopard disc out and did an archive and install then it worked perfect, no issues, then I did a software update (since I was back to 10.5.0), and installed the 10.5.2 security upgrade, now iCal will not launch, am I the only one with this problem?

I had the exact same problem -- doubled events and could not edit anything. I flushed the cache as describe in some more detail here: http://www.tipstrs.com/tip/2506/iCal-problem-with-Leopard-Upgrade and everything started working just fine.
