Acrobat X Closes on Launch

Hi, I have installed Acrobat from the Creative Cloud on a Mac (OSX 10.7.4) and when now when it is opened (with or without files) it closes automatically after 5-10 seconds on every launch.
I have already removed and reinstalled it. Does anyone know what the fix is?
TIA!

Deactivating and reactivating worked for me, thanks, david

  • Acrobat 8 will not launch

I have a new Dell running XP after launching I get an error:
"Adobe Acrobat Pro cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component(such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 pro."
Even if Photoshop is open I still get this error. I click ok and the program closes.
    This is very irritating.

There is a good chance that you have previously installed a trial version and when you launch Acrobat it still thinks it is a trial. Uninstall Acrobat from add/remove programs (if it is a seperate entry then you definitely have installed Acrobat as a stand alone and not as part of the Suite) and then reinstall only Acrobat from the first disc of whatever version of the Suite you have.

  • HT4061 I Cannot open my apps, especially the mail app and settings app, it closes when launched

What version of iOS are you running? Is your device jailbroken?

  • Game center apps immediately close on launch

Game center game apps immediately close upon launch.

Try a hard reset.  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If you are still having issues, try removing and redownloading each of the Apps you are having issues with.

I just migrated everything from an old Mac to a new one, but now Acrobat Professional will not launch. I get an error message: "Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time......"

I used "Migration Assistant" to send everything from my old mac to my new which included my copy of Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. I tried downloading an update but when it asked me to find the version of acrobat to replace it was grayed out and I was unable to select it. My OS is 10.9.4

  • When I print to PDF using Acrobat 11 Pro from any application the acrobat Reader does not launch automatically. Associations are correct. Thx for your help,  Bruce

When I print to PDF using Acrobat 11 Pro from any application the acrobat Reader does not launch automatically. Associations are correct. Happens from Chrome, IE, Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Previously had deskPDF installed but uninstalled correctly. Can't find a preference setting for the auto launch. Thx for your help,  Bruce

A simple way is to flatten the form fields, which converts the field appearances to regular page contents. You can do this with JavaScript or PDF Optimizer (Advanced > PDF Optimizer > Discard Objects > Flatten form fields). A very nice script that adds a custom menu item can be found here: http://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/flattener/

  • Spellcheck panel appears when Acrobat 6.0 is launched

Not sure what app panel is appearing but acrobat 6.0 professional launched only a few times [recently reinstalled to this machine] before the spellcheck panel appeared.  Trying to find out if this possibly be an adobe applet?  Has anyone seen this?  Seeking guidance

The spellcheck is available for comments and form fields. Looks like you have a form and a JavaScript in the form may be activating the spellcheck. That is all I can think of. Normally, AA6 has F7 as the key for spellchecking. There is not a standard option for having it check on opening a PDF, but there is an option to spell check as you type. Maybe something is being imported to a field and that is interpreted as typing.

    Hey Todd Rubenson,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with iTunes for Windows unexpectedly quitting. The following resource may provide a solution:

  • Acrobat 8 doesn't launch

Here's what I get anytime I want to start Acrobat 8 (it's a part of Design Suite).
"Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 Professional."
Launching Photoshop or Flash doesn't help...

When you launch some other part of the suite, do you also go through the steps to complete the online activation?

  • Acrobat X won't launch even after following all posted solutions

I have a licensed academic version of CS6 running on a win 8.1 64 bit computer. The software has been installed for < 1 week and was licensed immediately. Acrobat X won't launch. It shows me the window with a large screenshot of what I was previously looking at. I then have to crash out of it. I tried deactivating and reactivitating it last night and it worked fine. One solution also said to update the software. So I did. Now it won't work again. I tried the following solutions:
    1) Run the patch in windows
    2) Run the acrofix patch through cmd
    3) Deactivate/reactivate
    4) Update software again (no new updates anyway)
    5) Look for and change name of cache.db (no such file)
What can I do? This is a huge hinderance to my work. Thanks!

The software has been fully activated including getting my serial number through registration of an academic account, activating my online account, and activating the account. There are, as far as I can tell, no further things that I need to do. By reinstalling the software I was able to get Acrobat to work again, but I am afraid now that I won't be able to run any updates.
