Acrobat X crashes Internet Explorer 9

Hi all.
Using Windows 7 x64 and Internet Explorer, I'm having problems when reading a pdf in the web browser, with Acrobat X. When I close the tab or IE9, the following message appears: "Internet Explorer has stopped working..." without giving any more detail about the failure. I have tried disabling all the plugins in Internet Explorer (using IE with no complements) and the failure is still there. The only way to avoid it is to disable IE9 and Acrobat integration and to open the pdfs directly in Acrobat, not in IE9.
After uninstalling and trying with Acrobat 9, everything seems to go fine.
Thanks.

I have the same problem with Acrobat 9 on IE9.
I have no problems with Acrobat 9 or Acro X on IE8.
So, the problem seems to be specific to IE9.

  • Crashing Internet Explorer on Windows XP.

I've noticed that the "bio" page on my website will crash Internet Explorer. It's the latest version, running without any unusual plugins on Windows XP Pro. My website is http://web.mac.com/droeber/iWeb/Roeber.com/bio.html and I've used the Modern theme.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi,
I have resolved my crashes - here is how i did it. I spoke to Apple Support, they were nice, but not able to help me. They said it was really Microsoft's fault. Doesn't really matter whose fault it is, since IE on the PC is what most of the world and for me, it is really 98% of my customers and target market, so its gotta work for that platform.
Jdang's previous post regarding offending PNGs provided me the hint. I decided to rebuild my site, one graphic at a time, and post, and test on a PC running IE until i found the offender. In my case, i was using lines, dotted style, running vertically as well as horizontally to give my page some spatial separation. Those lines were the offenders in my case - took them off and the site works perfectly on IE for the PC.
my site is: http://www.leadline.com (I forward my domain with a mask to it)
    or: http://web.mac.com/pthean/iWeb/LL/Home.html
Took me 2 hours to rebuild it piece by piece and test - so it really does not take that long. You just need to borrow a PC, upload after every new object and test. Once I found the offending graphic, I got braver and put up whole pages before I tested. As long as you can track yourself so that you know what to reverse back to in the event of IE crashing, you can find the offender rather easily (though painfully).
    Cheers!

  • The new flash player update crashes internet explorer and firefox

The new flash player update crashes internet explorer and firefox, please send a new release to fix the problem ASAP!

ok   here's more mystery.  i just uninstalled and reinstalled flash player using the adobe uninstaller and rebooting after each step.  aqlso installed latest java.  i started looking at videos and here are the ones that worked: you tube
                                                                                           imdb
                                                                                           hulu
                                                                                           ebaumsworld
here are the ones that didn't work:    yahoo
                                                                                           msn
                                                                                           reuters
here are the ones that partially worked: the blaze (works on videos that originate from you tube, but not from news stories)
bing (work on videos from their video section - entertainment type, but not from news videos)
the common thing here seems to be that news type videos crash and entertainment type don't.  also videos seem more likely to crash on internet portals like yahoo

  • Google crashes Internet Explorer and Mac OS

From about 8 June 2007 google.com searches have consistently crashed Internet Explorer on Macs. This happens every time with Internet Explorer 5.1.7 on OS 9 and Internet Explorer 5.2 on OS X. The situation for OS 9 is particularly serious as often the OS also crashes. Repeated crashes of this type can damage disks.
Many UK users will not have noticed this bug as google.com has recently started redirecting to google.co.uk but, unless fixed by Google, these crashes will be with us for a long time especially for Google forms on non-Google sites and historic URLs.
You can try this for yourself with the following links:
    1. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=googlecrashesie
    2. http://www.google.com/search?q=googlecrashesie
At the time of writing link 2 will lock up Internet Explorer every time. It appears that the problem is restricted to Macs - perhaps because versions of Internet Explorer beyond 5.x are not available for either OS 9 or OS X. Many webmasters do not appreciate that there are still many users who prefer to use this old browser particularly on old Macs that are too slow to mount OS X. There are still a lot of these around (including early iMacs) used as second or home Macs.
Whilst one or two crashes are unlikely to do any significant lasting damage repeated crashes on OS 9 followed by the necessary forced quits can cause unpredictable and significant loss of disk data.

  • Flash Player 9 crashes Internet Explorer 6.

    Hello
Previous versions of Flash Player worked fine on my Win98SE
system until I upgraded to versions 8 and 9, then it became
impossible to use Flash Player without a message popping up saying
that there had been an illegal instruction in module FLASH9B.OCX.
Occasionally I had to reboot my system which had become
unstable (blue screen - system busy).
I submitted the register dump from the FLASH9B.OCX crash to
Adobe and they provided me with an uninstall tool along with
instructions on how to (re)install the latest version.
Every re-installation of the latest version always ended with
an eventual crash of the FLASH9B.OCX module while visiting
    different websites,
Adobe advised me to stop using Flash Player on the grounds
that there was, in their estimation, something corrupt within my
Win98SE operating system and/or Internet Explorer version 6, all of
which I have kept up to date with the latest patches from MS.
I downloaded a fresh copy of Internet Explorer and I also ran
the Win98 tool that verifies the system files and I replaced the
half dozen files that were flagged as being suspect (checksum
    error, no doubt).
In spite of this, Internet Explorer still crashes when I
visit a website which has Flash media on it (static images).
I have resigned myself to living in a world without Flash
    Player.
But the price to pay for not keeping Flash Player installed
on one's system is that there are constant requests to download
Flash Player via a pop-up window, and even my pop-up blocker can't
    hide these constant interruptions.
Has anyone else had this same problem and if so, have you
found a better way to live with or without Flash Player?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
UPDATE: When I go back to version 8, then module FLASH8B.OCX
crashes in the same way as version 9.
If I go back to version 7 (7.0.19), everything works
perfectly. So what was changed in version 8 that makes my Internet
    Explorer crash?

up in a debugger and look for a non-MMX code path and see if I can
    patch one to work.
I thought of "back-reving" to the latest Flash 7 player to
see if the issue goes away but I have yet to do that.
Good luck looking for a non-MMX code path hidden upstream of
    the offending MMX instruction.
Going back to Flash 7 is relatively easy and you will
suddenly be able to visit places you haven't been in years, but
there are still some sites that will block you unless you have
    Flash player 8 or 9.
First use the Adobe uninstaller to clean up which is found

Then find a copy of :
    flashplayer7r61_winax.exe
and run it. That will give you the latest Flash 7.

  • Acrobat 8 vs Internet Explorer

Hi. I'm unable to install Acrobat 8 on my freshly formated Windows XP. All my computers are using the same setup installed from MSI. Internet Explorer 6.0 is the original web browser but we update it to 8.0. When I have to install Acrobat on one of these computers, I get this message : Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater. Please visit www.microsoft.com. I can install Acrobat 6.0 (we still have an old license for this oldie) but the update to the 8.0 doesn't change a thing. We also have CS4 and I can install the 9.0 but I don't want to use a license only to use Acrobat. Does someone have an idea for this strange problem? Thanks in advance.

  • Applets Crashing Internet Explorer on Windows XP with JRE 1.4.0 Final

I have recently installed the 1.4.0Final JRE, and have found that upon arriving at a page with an applet on internet explorer explorer crashes. Where as under the JRE 1.3.1_02 it does not.
I am running Windows XP, and cannot remember the exact error message I get, however it is something about an error occuring within iexplorer.exe
    Any help appreciated.

I have the same symptom on Windows 2000 (SP2) using Internet Explorer 5.00. Replacing the IE JVM with J2SE 1.4 causes IE to crash when I visit java.sun.com.
I am filing a bug with the JDC Bug Parade, but I am surprised that this has not been more widely reported, since I think I have a common system configuration.

Since you mention Internet Explorer, I assume that you are on Windows.
Try downloading this installer http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe, save it to disk, then close all IE windows and run the downloaded installer.

  • Pdf link dont work if document open in separate Acrobat window in internet explorer

    Hi,
We have many pdf with different links between this pdf. The link type is "Open a file".
    - If the fist pdf document is open from hard drive this links works perfectly.
    - If the pdf document is open from the web site (http://website/doc1.pdf) and adobe reader is configured to open pdf in internet explorer it work also.
    - But if the reader is configured to open pdf in a external window this link dont work. The link try to open the second pdf in c://Internet Temporary Folder/ as root instead of http://website/
Does anyone know a workaround ? I don't know if my customers have configured the reader to open in internet explorer or in a external windows...
    Thanks for help !

If web browser integration is turned off, it really is turned off.
Adobe Reader simply becomes a "helper" application. The browser
downloads the file, puts it somewhere, and runs Adobe Reader. Adobe
Reader is not told anything special about the file and its origins, so
it cannot know that this was (before the download) a web file, or
    where it came from.
A URL link might be the answer.

  • Flash Player Freezing and Crashing Internet explorer and Google Chrome

    Hello,
I have a dell xps 16 running on i7, windows 7 home premium 64 bit, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd. For at least a year i have been having problems viewing sites that use flash player such as youtube, and facebook. I orginally thought my anti virus was the problem because when ever I uninstalled it the flash began to work. I switched anti-virus programs about 3 times go from mcafee to kaspersky to avg 9.0 full...and it still would freeze up on me. Now it  has been 2 weeks since I uninstalled avg 9.0 and now it has started freezing up my internet explorer and chrome when ever i go to youtube or facebook. Also for some strange reasion it also is making some of my programs like pinnacle studios 14, itunes, and window media player unresponsive. Currently I have taken flash out of my computer. And i have to use my ipad to view youtube videos..but i still can not view flash. I have heard this has happended to many people on mulitple o.s. , Please help. I have tried reinstalling it and it says that instalation failed evertime. Ive also tried reinstalling my os with no success. I ve tried reseting my browsers and reinstalling them....no success.

Hi a, I wonder what happened since it was working on 7/21/10. Then after you Installed AVG9 you started having problems, even after disabling the AVG add ons, etc.
You have had this freezing issue for awhile and I don't know what is causing it, although cleaning up McAfee certainly helped and the Re-Install of Flash Player.
I think the first thing you should do is go to the Kaspersky website and find out if there is an Uninstaller to use and use it if there is. Then I would go to AVG 9 and do the same. Then Reboot after using each one. That way you will have had a Clean Uninstall of both of them.
Then go to Microsoft and Install Windows Defender. That way you would have some protection and that along with the Windows Firewall will help until we see what is causing this freezing and then you can Install AVG again.
Also these: Dellweb cam central, informational alerts, dell data safe online, oovoo, fastaccess.. I wonder if any or a combination are conflicting. Have you had these for sometime or were any added about the time you started having issues? I am not familiar with them, but if they are in your system tray, I would guess they use Flash? I would try to disable them all at once, try your websites, especially youtube. If you have no problem, enable only one of those and test youtube again. Then enable another one and so on and if any are conflicting, you will be able to find the one.
    Thanks

  • Acrobat 9.5 & Internet Explorer 9

I have been a very happy user of Acrobat for a long time.  Built a new PC with Win7 Ultimate and updated IE to Ver 9 but cud not convert pages to pdf.  Got advice from Adobe that 9.5 does not work with IE9.  Wud like to update to IE9 can anyone confirm can do and have all features of 9.5 (and more).  Is this possible and how please?

The information you got from Adobe is correct as I have seen. You might look for an update to IE9 if you have installed it to see if that resolves the issue. Otherwise you may have to upgrade to AA X, but I am not 100% sure even that works with IE9. My solution was to forget IE9. I generally avoid IE anyway due to problems with it and only use it when I need to sloppy features of the program.
