Acrobat X Form Filler

In using form filler is there a way I can make a universal change to the font and have all fonts at Times Roman 11 pt? Can I use a carriage return to widen the box?  Is form filler available on Acrobat 9? 

OK, let's try to get some terminology fixed. You have a document that you have created as a PDF that looks like a form (it is not a form in the PDF sense). You are now trying to create form fields that can be filled in that gives you a form PDF. The first question is which product are you using to create the form, Acrobat or Designer? If you do not get transferred to Designer from Acrobat and get a forms tool in Acrobat you are creating an AcroForm.
You can right click on a text field and select to edit the properites. It is common to leave the text to be automatic in size. However, you can set the font if you wish. I think you can select several fields and do the property change to all at the same time, but am not sure. Instructions for forms are in the manual (see the help menu). There are also license restrictions for allowing saving of the form for Reader and also considerations for using e-mail submission of the form data (both does the Reader and e-mail of a user communicate properly and be careful about private datta being sent by e-mail).   • Multiple form fill-ed's open at one time - crashing

    I have many form fill-ed documents created using Live Cycle.   Issues have been reported regarding adobe shutting down in the middle of filling out a form.  Tow of our employees have this crashing issue.  They both have Windows 7; Adobe Reader XI, and IE X.  I have trouble shooted several different options.  I have used the acrobat_ittools_cleaner to remove old acrobat (recommended by acrobat). 
    I had the Two employees use one form fill at a time to determine the cause of the crashing.  If they use only ONE form at a time, there is not crashing.  The minute they open two forms, and start to fill in the form, it crashes. 
    These forms are not new,  They worked fine with mulitple forms open in the past.  I created these forms in Live Cycle (which came with Acrobat Pro 9).  I figured with the added security in Acrobat XI, I needed to update the forms using Live Cycle Designer ES4.  That did not help either.
    What else can I do to correct this problem?

    </script>is the correct script if you escape COMPLETE as 'COMPLETE' and CANCELED as 'CANCELED'. The same rules apply for javascript as for the most other programming languagas - numbers do not need to be escaped but character strings do.
    The second thing is the question of your tabular form id. In my case it was f03 but in your case it is probably different. If you created a wizard tabular form and didn't touch it, you could count the columns.
    If your column is the first editable column than it will be f03. The second will be f04 and so on. My recomendation is to use Firefox and download the extension Firebug. With firebug you can do HTML > Inspect and go with the mouse over any element on your page. Click on the actual tabular form cell and it will show you some code like this:

  • Acrobat 9 Form works via email but not uploaded to website

    Hi all. I need to be able to have people go to a url, fill out a form and then e-mail it to the company. The e-mailing part works perfectly if I e-mail the form to myself but when it's uploaded to the company's website nothing happens. Is it possible to have it filled out on the website and e-mailed or do I have tobuild a conventional online form to do this? The company already has an attractive form which we'd prefer to use but I'm thinking I need to build a regular html form instead. Could someone please confirm or (hopefully) deny this conclusion? If it IS possible to make the pdf work on a website I'd appreciate any and all clues as to how to do so. Thanks!

    If the people are filling out the forms with Reader, unless you set up form in Acrobat to Confer Rights on Reader they won't be able to do wnything with the form and print it. It can't be saved nor can it be meailed and be filled out.
    Follow these steps:
    Open Acrobat
    Open form
    Go to advanced menu
    Choose extend Features in Reader (as described in Acobat 9.x for Mac).
    Once menu choice is open choose what you want to allow.
    Make sure you form is perfect because once you confer rights your no longer allowed to edit the form.
    you will have go back and may an unrights protected copy; before you can edit the form .

  • How do I create a form that enables the user to save the form filled in?

    When I create the form, save it and open it later, I get the message that the form can only be saved empty - without whatever the user filled into the text fields. Why is this and how can I enable the form to be saved including the content of the fields?

    It should only say that when used with Reader versions prior to version 11. If you have Acrobat, you can Reader-enable the form, allowing it to be saved in versions prior to 11, and 11 as well. Exactly how you do this depends on what version of Acrobat you're using:
    A9: Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader
    A10: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features
    A11: File > Save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)

  • LiveCycle Designer Form Filling on Tablet PC with Stylus

    My org is developing a bunch of forms in LiveCycle Designer to be filled out on a tablet PC using its stylus pen.
    We are using LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 on a Dell Latitude XT2 tablet. The form is to be viewed in Adobe Reader 9 (but could change that to Acrobat 9 if we had to). We have extended the rights to Adobe Reader to enable the user to fill out and save the form data as needed. The tablet is running Windows XP for Tablet PC.
    The form is working properly on the tablet PC but I can't fill in the form fields with the tablet's stylus. Using the keyboard we can key in the necessary data but one of the primary goals to implementing this solution was to increase mobility in the field and reduce paper usage.  I have tried using EverMap's AutoInk plug in as directed in this Adobe blog (http://blogs.adobe.com/acrolaw/2009/01/using_the_tablet_pc_with_acrobat.html) but it only works with forms created with the Acrobat Forms Wizard. We don't want to create the forms in here as it is too time-consuming to continue to update a Word template and run it through the wizard again.
    I also installed SigPlus Pro for Tablet PC and the Adobe 9 plug-ins created by Topaz Systems to allow for digitally signing the document with the customer's signature image. This piece is working very well.
    Does anyone have any tips on how to enable ink-to-text form filling on a Tablet PC for forms created in LiveCycle Designer? I am all out of ideas and can't find anyone else who has even run into this issue.

    I don't have an answer for you about the tablet - sorry.
    But a few pointers.
    The AutoInk plugin seems to write "over" the PDF and is flattened as an annotation. The data is unlikely to be "inputted" into the field and therefore may not be recorded as data. You might want to try this out with a test AcroForm. This might be OK with you, as you just want to print out the completed form. If that is the case then you just need to enable the form for commenting.
    In relation to Acroforms, one thing to bear in mind. Once you have brought in the Word template into Acrobat for the first time and inserted all of the form objects that you want. Later if you want to update the form, then you don't need to start from scratch. Just replace the pages in Acrobat with the new ones! Acrobat will slide the new pages under your existing form objects. You may need to move these around or add new ones to suit the new layout - but by no means do you have to start from scratch.

  • Acrobat X form problem

    Why doesn't it work whe I create a form in acrobat for me to upload it to my website, and then have people open the form, fill it out, then submit it?

    I am creating a 2 page form from a Word document. Once I have converted the doc to a pdf and have created all of the fillable areas in Acrobat, I then try to upload it to our home page. I then fill the form out an hit submit, and I get an error message, which I cannot remember, and my original pdf document now has the information I filled in, rather than blank fields. What I am trying to do is upload the pdf to the home page so people can fill out the form, submit it, and we can print their submitted form or file it electronically for our records. creating the form is the easy part, trying to get it to work properly in our web site...quite a problem. This is not a form I can "distribute" or email to people as it is an admission application, therefore only those wishing to apply need to fill it out.

  • Sending documents in Acrobat to get filled and receiving them back so you can read them

    I send out a RFP to potential web clients that is created in Acrobat - they can fill it out, check boxes... However when they send it back, it's in an XML format I can't read. Please advise on what I need to do to get the form back so I can read it.

  • Adobe central form filler

    Last even I purchased the central form filler on a monthly payment basis.   I was told by Phillip that I would be able to download and complete Doctor appointment forms.  I have been unable to upload  and complete the forms.  The button for forms will not respond.  Before cancelling my subscription I want to ensure that it's not a user's lack of knowledge causing the problem, and not the program.  i have not found a source to download anyway workig platform.  Help please.  Charlie

    I'm not sure what you mean by "central form filler." Adobe FormsCentral allows you to create and distribute web forms (http://www.acrobat.com/formscentral). Are you getting us confused with something else? If you are filling out a form created by our service you should contact the form author if you are having issues.

    actually the site uses flash to present the form for filling. i tried building such a form using flash but its too complicated, im sure there is a much easier way.
    say i create a editable form using Acrobat Pro, how would i go about embedding it into the webpage ? and allowing for it to be printed but not saved (the flash solution wrapps the form in a flash file therefor not allowing for a user to save it as a PDF file.
    is there a way to do this ?

    I've just tried it and it seems to do what we need, but I wonder whether the product is legal. My basic understanding was that if you're making use of Adobe Reader to display PDFs inside your application then you are not allowed to make alterations like saving filled in forms. That is, Adobe does not legally allow editing/saving PDFs using Adobe Reader - unless it's been 'enabled' by their Acrobat software.
    Can any experts comment? Is it worth just staying away from it completely - or is what they're doing fine?

    You will likely have to call the customer service or spend your time reading the EULA (and hopefully interpreting it right) if you want the detailed answer you are looking for. This is a Users forum and the folks from Adobe generally do not come out directly on the forum. The point of reading a PDF that has a public domain spec and making changes to it somewhere else should not be a problem. If you are trying to get around security or such, then there is a legal issue, but you did not suggest anything like that. I agree with Reinhard that the passing of Approval left a big hole for many users.

    I'm working with Acrobat XI (11.0.10) and created a form (questionnaire). I need others to open it with Adobe Reader, fill it out and be able to save it afterwards. It seems to work with Adobe Reader 11.0.10 but not with Version 10. So I tried to save it with "save as Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)..." However, the error "This document could not be Reader Enabled." popped up. Why isn't it working? Is it since I'm using the trial version?

    The trial version is not restricted. Looks like a problem of your form.

    I have a form filled pdf loaded to acrobat.com account, I am using it to access that document from my ipad using the adobe reader app. Once I open the document from the ipad is there a way to save it as a new document so the original form remains empty for the next use?

    Currently, Adobe Reader for iOS does not provide the "Save a Copy" option. So there is no straightforward way to do what you described.
    As a workaround, you could:
    (a) Make a copy before filling out a PDF form
    Transfer the original blank PDF form to your iPad/iPhone via iTunes, Mail, etc. and save it locally so that it appears in the Document section of the Reader home screen.
    In the Documents section of the Reader home screen, tap the Edit button in the upper right corner.
    Select the original blank PDF form.
    Tap the following icon in the bottom toolbar.
    Select Duplicate.  Please note that the Duplicate option is available only for the files stored locally on your iPad/iPhone, not for the files stored on Acrobat.com (cloud storage).
    Fill out the new PDF form.
    Optionally, save it to Acrobat.com.
    (b) Add a Reset button to the PDF form
    If you have Acrobat Pro (not Adobe Reader) on a Mac or Windows computer, you can add a Reset button to your PDF form.
