Acrobat X Mac History
Has anyone developed a "hack" to bring back a resonable history function to Adobe Acrobat Pro 10 or 11? If not, has anyone found a work-around for this mssing feature? Your comments are much appreciated.
Bridge is not really a good solution.

Hello,
I have tried 3 PDFs: one with only text - created in Illustrator(CS5) and saved as a PDF default, and the second which was a complex form of text and scanned images created in QuarkXpress and saved as a PDF for print purposes. The third file was a simple PDF offered online to solve problem.
Each attempt was to create a Word file. Each received the same error message: Save as failed to process this document. No file was created.

Is there any sample in acrobat sdk for mac which creates dialog without using any third party library??
ThanksUnfortunately, there is no longer any built-in cross-platform API for showing dialog boxes other than simple alerts in the C/C++ Acrobat SDK. Some might consider this a deficiency in a plug-in API for a cross-platform GUI application. Anyway, you can always use the system APIs, such as Cocoa on Mac or the Windows API on Windows. We mainly use wxWidgets in our plug-in, for both modal dialogs and modeless palettes.

ThanksWell, you can download as often as you want. You can install as often as you want. You just won't be able to activate it and use it beyond the 30day trial period without a serial. Buy a separate license for your PC or swap your Mac license.

Expandable text fields in acrobat for mac?
I need to design a interactive form (on a mac) that has interactive text fields that are dynamic, expandable and flow. Basically, I have static questions that have to be answered, and depending on the amount of copy that the user puts in, the copy will flow down.
Im fairly familiar with the workings of interactivity, but i have done some searches for this feature in acrobat pro for mac, and I am not coming up with anything. Is there some coding I could add, or some way of doing this on mac base?
Does Acrobat X for mac allow this functionality?
I really need to get this done, and pretty disappointed that such simple functionality is not included in acrobat for mac. Or is it, and Im jut missing it? Is there a runaround way I could do this?

I use acrobat professional all of the time-I am a designer. I use it along with all of the other big players, like Photoshop, indesign, etc.
There is a need for this amongst the mac world.
Im just sick right now. How do I tell the client this cannot be done AT ALL on a mac, when it would be so easy on a pc, and everything you'd need is already bundled in a nice little package. (acrobat pro and extended for PC)

Well, like other Companies rather than than creating one master code That just needs to change for differences in the look and Feel.
Because The Mac Market is not as Large as PC, they don't put as many features in the Mac Version. That's the way its always been. They think we will put up with shortcomings. And and the sad fact is we do. Just to have any Software. Office2011 comes about as close to Parity as any software out there. It now has Outlook and uses the same Macro Engine as the PC version. However, it still has features missing that in the PC version. And some of the Macro commands that work on PC won't work on Mac (ActiveX Controls for one).
Its just the cards we are dealt. Until the Mac Market becomes equal Parity with The PC Market Then we will have the power to have decent software. -
hello i want re-install acrobat 7 mac (CS2 bundle) i download the CS2 without activation and it work but for acrobat 7 i find only the PC version link.

after hard disk replacement i want re-install CS2 with AC7 but its inposible to use original cs2 disk and serial because the autenfication server is closed.

"Check for Updates..." menu item missing Acrobat 9 Mac
Trying a clean install of Acrobat 9 Pro for Mac on a clean Mac OS X.8.3 Mountain Lion. It take the serial number without issue after launching, but in the Help Menu there is no, "Check for Updates..." item.
Installed and logged in as a local admin. The only alternative way to update the software is to go to the products update page at:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Macintosh
To download and manually install in succession TWENTY updates to get from v. 9.0 to v. 9.5.4. This shouldn't be this difficult. I bet the Adobe Chat Customer Service that I'd be able to download and install all TWENTY updates before anyone on this forum could provide me with a solution.
Do you accept the challenge?If you can not download the updates from the help menu any more, then for the MAC the updates are available at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Macintosh. Generally you have to install these updates in order. It is simplest to download the latest first and work back to see if any can be skipped. Once the product hits end of life (and I think AA9 is there), the only updates that are provided are for critical security updates. For instance there has not been an update for AA 8 since Sept 2011. Since the releases are about every 2 years, it is indeed the end-of-life time in the cycle for AA 9 based on the history of the products. The upgrade may be worth it at some time, particularly as your OS or word processor or such change over time. Since the MAC version does not have PDF Maker (as I understand it), the upgrades may not be as critical for you as for PC folks working with newer versions of MS OFFICE -- who have gotten used to those features.

Cannot update Adobe Acrobat for Mac from 11.0.0 to 11.0.01
Hi all. I cannot update my Adobe Acrobat from 11.0.0 to 11.0.01. There's been some error during the installation of the update. I have tried uninstall and reinstall for several times but didn't help. The error log is as follows:

Bill@VT has the correct troubleshooting procedure though. Download the update and try updating locally rather than through the ARM updater. -
Acrobat 9 Mac- Forms-how do I add multiple lines?
I created a document cover in Quark and saved it as a PDF.(I'm on a Mac)
The idea is for the client (on a PC) to open the document in Acrobat
and add a few lines for a heading. I think I figured out how
to add a text box form, but it only allows for ONE line of text.
I know some of their document headings will require 2 -3 lines.
How is this done? And is this the best method for giving the client something they
can "add to" and print out? PLease advise. I have looked thru the Help menus
and community support, but did not find an answer. thanks.You can set a text box to be multiline. Right-click it using the Select Object Tool and look under Properties.

Acrobat 9 Mac Print dialog freezes
I haven't been able to print from Acrobat 9 Pro for Mac for about many months. I can open the Print dialog box and change settings, but as soon as I click the Print button, Acrobat freezes and I have to force quit. (More accurately, the Print dialog box can be dragged around, but even if I switch to a different app, like the Finder, the Print dialog box stays open -- Print button no longer flashing. Nothing prints, and the dialog box cannot close until I force quit.)
Even worse, it happens when I print a PDF from Safari, too! It's been driving me crazy, and I've tried a ton of different troubleshooting techniques.
Currently using 9.2.0 on Mac OS 10.5.8. Not sure when the problem started, but I've done a number of Acrobat and OS updates since then, always hoping that one will fix it. No luck.
I thought it was the free version of Font ExplorerX from linotype that I've been using far, far too long. When I quit that, it seemed to work once... but now even without that running it's crashing. So perhaps it was a fluke.
Also, sometimes it works if I hit the Print button really quickly after the dialog box opens. That's even weirder.
Yes, I have removed the printer driver and reinstalled.
Frustrated. (I usually just open the pdf in Preview and print, or place it in InDesign and print. But sometimes, like today when I have to print a contract with digital signatures, only Acrobat will do.)

One thing I've learned since OSX 10.2 is that Mac is finicky about printer drivers too.
I had a Lexmark and it would freeze all the time after I switched to Panther. It was a discontinued model so when I moved up to 10.3 there were no new drivers. The old ones installed OK but they would cause it to freeze up and if it did print, it took about ten minutes to get through a page of text.
I got a new printer and one tht had current drivers available for Mac and the problem was solved.
It seems we fight a never-ending battle with hardware and software racing to stay ahead of each other.
Yes I've owned three printers since owning my first Mac an SE 30 I started out with a Apple ImagewriterII (made C-Itoch). I had to switch when I bought a 7100/66 which used the PowerPC processor instead of the 68030 processors. Then I had a HP DJ 650cse which used a Black Cartridge only. No color. I had to change again When I bought my G4-500. I am still using it today. Its the best printer I've had so far. I fear when I buy a new Intel Mac, and comes with X.6 (Snow Leopard) I will have to swap again. I've seen the new HP DeskJets and the won't last as long this one. They look like cheap toys and (gulp!) they use heads built like in epson not the Cartridges. The Cartridges were more expensive. But each time you bought one you got a new set of print heads. No longer. -
Acrobat on Mac crashes on opening preferences
I've been trying to use Acrobat Pro on the Creative cloud on a Mac to put headers and footer on a large document. When I activate that choice, it would bring up a warning screen but never the following screen with the options for the header and footer. When I try to go to preferences to turn on the warning message again, the program simply crashes. I had removed my preferences files based on another suggestion and that did not work. Suggestions???
The problem was a corrupt installation. Had to go to Adobe Techincal Support to fix it. Required the use of the Cleaning Tool and manual folder removal. That finally corrected the situation.
Unfortunately, the suggested solution required one to open the preferences. Any attempt to open preferences crashed the program. I never got into preferences to change the option because it would crash on selecting Preferences in the menu.

The Mac install for Adobe Acrobat 9 in the adobe downloads says its unavailable. I purchased the license for it. Where do I download that software?
IT Person if you made a retail purchase of Acrobat 9, and the download option was chosen at the time of purchase, then the installation files for Acrobat 9 for Macintosh will be available under your account. You can find more details at Find a download link on Adobe.com.
If you have a volume license for Acrobat 9 for Macintosh then the installation files will be available at https://licensing.adobe.com/.
If you purchased Acrobat 9 and no longer have access to the installation media then I am not aware of any public links to download the installation files for Acrobat 9 Professional for Macintosh. -
Acrobat 9 (Mac) can't edit this particular interactive pdf. Why not?

I sent a Word doc off to someone to get him to make an interactive pdf form, checkboxes etc. My caveat was that I had to be able to edit the pdf on my Mac with my version of Acrobat (9.0). ...And guess what. I can't edit it.
Everything works as it should, except for the fact that Acrobat doesn't offer me the option of adding or editing fields in the form. I suspect he used a PC and that this might be a factor....
And yet I've had other people help me out with forms in the not too distant past, and they used PCs, and I never had any trouble.
Has anyone had experience with something like this? Is there a workaround for it? I absolutely need to be able to edit this using my computer.

1. The form was created with LiveCycle Designer. Such PDFs cannot be edited with Acrobat. You can check by selecting: File > Properties > Description > PDF producer
2. The file has some security restrictions set. You can check by selecting: File > Properties > Security
3. The file was Reader-enabled. You can check as with #2 above. -
Have a fill-in form designed in acrobat 8 (MAC), trying to send from PC adobe 9
I have a form which was designed on a mac acrobat 8. The form works when sending via email, data collection when coming back, etc., however we have taken that same form and pulled it over to a PC acrobat pro 9 and we can send through the distribute forms function via email the person fills-in the form, however when we open the returned form the dialog box that normally appears to ask how you want to collect the data or what you want to do for data collection does not appear. You can open like any pdf and view the data.
What is more weird is the same form we can iniate the send from the mac, and then open on a PC and the dialog box appears. It just doesn't work and you don't get the data collection dialog box or tracking page when you iniate a send from a pc and then open on a PC.
Do I need to rebuild the form on the PC in 9, or am I missing some step on the PC side when I send?Please post this in the Acrobat support area, you'll get a better answer!
