Acrobat X Nonresponsiveness: Its Windows Not Updating/Drawing

Just installed Acrobat X Pro and I have noticed---probably related to multiple (3-5) instances open despite lots of physical RAM--that Acrobat instances are not drawing properly. Parts of windows are being moved and attempts to close do not work and bring up the alert dialog for forcible closing of a nonresponsive application. This is not due to pagefile read/write operations. Ultimately Acrobat needs to be forcibly closed. The system works properly: if it were due to system problems, I'd expect to have to re-start the system. This was not happening when Acrobat 8.3.x Pro was working just before its un-installation and the installation of version 10.
Is there a known problem with Acrobat X (10) not working with systems that have my configuration (shown below)?
Other notes: There is apparently no more single instance interfaces with multiple documents, by the way, and I have seen the note that MDI and Vista (Win 7?) don't seem to work or the MDI is being deprecated.
Nor is there a history or organizer feature. While the history/organizer could have benefitted from changes to make it better, what had been there in version 8 was still useful and these features should not have been removed. I am pretty sure those features will be re-installed in a future interface or some 3rd party will find a way to integrate them.
Machine: HP Pavilion dv9500t CTO Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 / 2.0 GHz / 2.0 GB RAM
OS: Microsoft Windows 6.0 (Vista Home Premium 32-bit) SP2
Windows integrity check ("sfc /scannow"): no integrity problems

Additional note added: Acrobat X is causing the Explorer taskbar to disappear. And it seems to re-appear in parts (buttons, icons) as the mouse pointer/cursor is passed over it. When Acrobat is again forcefully close, the Taskbar fully returns (is re-painted....it is not causing a Taskbar/Explorer appcrash) and the system behaves normally.

Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.10 not updating. Trying to update to version 10.1.13. on MAC OS X, v 10.9.5. All my Adobe CS5.5 Design Premium products update fine.
First tried automatic updates and go this: Update error: An error occurred. Please check for updates again later. Error: 1514.
Then went to Adobe.com to download update.
Downloaded the 10.1.13 update, started installation but in final stage of installation got this message "The Installation Failed (encountered an error) Contact software manufacturer for assistance.”

We would need the Acrobat installation logs in order to analyze this error. Please follow the below procedure to extract the log :
- During the installation press Command + L.
- Installer Log window appears. Now On the top left corner of this window, by default 'Show Errors Only' is selected in drop-down list.
- Change it to 'Show All Logs'. Now when the installer hangs, copy log from here and send it to us.

Windows not updating

since I upgraded to Lion I frequently have windows not updating

it usually happens on startup affecting any number of my windows (I always have 3, which windows and how many are affected varies) and randomly happens while it's open, closing the window and reopening it *usually* fixes it, but not always.
including the downloads window, I cleared it with the keyboard shortcut, the list was still there, I tried again, the list was still there, I clicked clear, the list was still there, I closed and reopened the window, the list was empty.
I've tried reinstalling Firefox, disabling all addons/plugins and creating a new profile and that hasn't helped.
Update: so far it looks like this happens if I install ANY addons, whether they're enabled or not, now I'm running in safe mode.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Acrobat 8 Standard Frequent Crashing / Not Updating

Hi. My Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard v 8.1.6 is having some problems. I do a lot of work in Acrobat and I can normally deal with the occasional hiccups, such as restarting Acrobat, but lately things have regressed considerably. I've run the Repair tool but it crashes. I've also tried updating but that crashes too. When I say it crashes I mean it says "...has encountered an error and will exit." I've also considered reinstalling Acrobat but the issue of not having the original CD plus not having registered, looms.
So I'm a little stuck. Please advise on what options are available. (sorry my keywords question mark is no longer working). With there being problems I may be inclined to restall Windows, but again, without having registered I am wondering what my options are. Thanks in advance.

File window not updating modif. dates – and mysterious parallel universe discovered

The day started innocently enough when I tried to edit some <meta> content on a site I'm building and then saved my work. Little did I know...
DW's "File" window refused to update the "Modified" column of the files I worked on. Open and closing the files shows that my changes have been recognized and incorporated into the HTML, and the files show up with correct modification dates in Finder (I'm on a Mac). They just won't change date in DW.
When I upload the modified-but-not-redated-in-DreamWeaver files to my remote site, they appear with the incorrect dates on the server, but a text comparison in DW shows that my local and remote files are synched.
Now for the truly weird part: when I run the site in Safari (after flushing its cache), a Source check shows the old code is still operational. (I also changed the titles of the pages in question to quickly confirm which version was being displayed. This check shows the old title displayed.)

Now for the truly, truly wierd part. I have a parallel site ( http://www.queen-of-the-northern-mines.com/index.html ) which contains copies of the bearriverbooks.com files. These files, too, show the wrong modification dates in DW's "Files" window and on the remote server – but they display correctly. Anyone who wants to check can compare page titles, which are longer in the later pages with correct code.
I checked the remote site addresses in the "Manage Sites..." center. I have not crossed my wires there (though I can smell a few arcing badly in my brain.).

I am having the same issue on a Mac 3.4Ghz i7 running Mac OS 10.7. I have Dreamweaver CS 5.5 v.11.5 Build 5344.
I have a linux webserver, running ProFTPD v.1.3.1
Both my mac and my linux server are set to the correct date and time.
And ls on the linux servers tells me the files have the correct modified date and time, but this is getting lost in translation to dreamweaver when I view the remove server in the File tab.
Any help appreciated.

Acrobat 9.5.1 Will Not Update

I am running Acrobat 9.5.1 on Windows XP. The program runs fine - but it will not install the next update. When I try to update the program, it indicates that the patch package could not be opened and gives the error number of 1635. What can I do next? I don't recall that I have the installation disks - so I can't re-install the program.

You should do the install as the administrator and with anti-virus disabled. Usually the error indicates the patch could not be opened (may be corrupt or not in an accessable folder -- using the administrator might help here). When this happens it is often best to just download the updates (but do a repair first with Help>Repair) from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows and install them in order.
There are instructions for downloading the install at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1061905. However, you still need the SN. You should always backup your downloads to a CD or backup HD when you purchase such products. You should not expect the files to be around online indefinitely. Be sure you also record the SN for the future.

RH Window not updating / topics not displaying after repositioning

Hi,
I'm running RH8.0.2 on a 32-bit version of Windows 7. In the last few days I've had peculiar problems with the RH Window itself (not compiled help) not refreshing properly.
For example, I want to compare a Word document to a help topic, so I resize the RH window and position it next to the Word document. I open several topics and do what I need to do. Now I'm done with the Word document, so I maximize the RH window again. This is when the problems start:
The navigation along the top (including the topic tabs) does not refresh.
If I double-click a topic in the left pane, it is sometimes not displayed on the right side, although the cursor movements indicate that RH thinks the topic is displayed. (This is hard to explain, and crazily enough I can't even get a screenshot of this to show what I mean.)
If I reduce the window size back to its previous, smaller size, things look normal again and I can see the topic I just double-clicked. But if I want to use RH in a maximized window again, I have to close and reopen the RH project.
Yes, these problems can be dealt with. But this has been going on for several days now (after a Windows update, perhaps?) and it's getting annoying.
Is anybody else experiencing these problems? Is there a solution?

You were right - I was dragging the two windows to where I wanted them.
I haven't yet tested your suggstions extensively (I don't spend a lot of time with RH side by side by side with other applications). However, I haven't seen the problem since I started using Windows key + arrows to position the windows.
BTW, RH is the only application where I was having this problem.
I will post again (or edit this post) if I come up with any new information. Even if no one else has posted about this problem, I'm betting that others are experiencing it. As I said, it's relatively easy to work around. Just annoying.

Camera raw plugin for photoshop 5.5 (windows) not updating

Hi, I'm trying to update the camera raw plugin (min 8.2) in photoshop 5.5 for windows. I downloaded, ran, installed camera raw plugin 8.6 and rebooted. The installation wizard shows as installed but when I open photoshop it still has camera raw 6.7.0.339. Please help!! (The dng converter works but the camera raw plugin has not been updated)

That may be because the latest version of ACR that works with CS5 is ACR 6.7

Safari 5.1 for Windows not updating to Safari 6?

My Safari won't update to Safari 6. I cant find it on Apple's website and it has been out for Mountain Lion for a while now, and I REALLY want iCloud tabs and stuff so i can browse the same stuff across all of my devices. Chrome does it, but i hate chrome user interface and prefer Safari.

Safari 6 for Windows is not available for Windows as it is not released by Apple.
Safari 5.1.7 is the latest version available for Windows.

OAB will not update

I have a 2 server environment that consists of a Mailbox Database server and a CAS. We have noticed within that past month that the OAB is not updating. I have tried several troubleshooting steps trying to get it to sync with the GAL. My
first thought was to check the OAB Virtual Directory settings on the CAS, which are correct. Next I verified that the Autodiscovery was pointing to the correct server, which it is. I noticed with running the command Get-OfflineAddressBook | FL
it shows the OAB hasn't been touched since over a month ago. I've attempted restarting the Mailbox Assistants service (which should for an update of the OAB) and also tried rebooting. This was after attempting to run Update-OfflineAddressBook "Default
Offline Address Book" and getting the following error message:
Failed to generate Offline Address Book '\Default Offline Address Book'. This could be due to the Mailbox Assistants
Service not running on server 'xxxx.xxxx.org' or you do not have permission to perform this operation. Error

I can assure you the Mailbox Assistants Service is running. I have even tried to create a new OAB off the GAL and set it as the default Client OAB on the Mailbox Database. It creates but if I try to run a manual update through the shell I get
the same message as above. On another note, when I try to browse to the oab.xml URL give by Autodiscover I get a 404 error. Not sure if the XML should be on the CAS since it basically proxies to the Mailbox Database Server. When looking on
the Mailbox Database server in the OAB GUID directory everything looks to be as it should be but its just not updating. Last modified date matches that date and time of the last touched entry when running Get-OfflineAddressBook | FL. Any help would
be appreciated as I have exhausted all avenues for resolution. I know that moving clients to online mode will fix the problem but that is not an option. We have over 500 employees.

You need to click "refresh" button to check the database status again. If the database is dismounted, and you can't mount the database manually, please try to use eseutil /mh cmdlet to check database is clean status or dirty status. If the database
is dirty status please try to use eseutil /ml cmdlet to check if your log files are missing. If not, please use eseutil /r to repair your database.

1)And here are my questions. I've updated my channel title as 'Armchair Critics' but its not updated on itunes or when I check it from my iphone 4s
2)When I'm on my iphone and search for my podcast and go to the page it allows me to download individual podcasts it shows the titles of the podcast correctly
eg Armchair Critics - Ep 4x2 - blah blah blah
While Downloading the first time on my iphone it shows like this, but as soon as I DL the 2nd one the title goes to being
1 - the text after Ep 4x2, why is it dropping the Armchair Critics - Ep 4x2? I want it to show like that after downloading and viewing on my music app also(formerly iPod i think didnt have an iphone before the 4s)
3)When viewing the source of my feed I notice that for my first posts the title tags are showing as
<title>Armchair Critics - Ep1×1 - Dilshan and Captaincy</title>
it should be something like
<title>Armchair Critics - Ep4×2 - Thirimanne and Indians</title>
with 4x2, is this some sort of syntax issue, and why does it work for the latest ones and not the old ones?
4)I recently updated my image, its still not updated on itunes or when I check from my iphone, is it cuz the feed needs time to update on itunes?
5)And in general, when I make a change to the feed, how long does it take for itunes to pick up the change.
5a)Does the change happen on itunes automatically?
5b)Do I manually need to update anything? IF so how and where?
6)Also, it I wanna add more itunes tags in future like for changing date/duration etc..how do and where do I do it?

1) The title has sorted it self now on the store but not the image, looks like it has gone to some sort of default podcast image. Is it still updating? I've subscribed on a PC, what does subscribing do exactly ? I thought it would start downloading the podcasts, but nothing happened and I had to manually DL them. Again no image...
2) The text getting cut off before the x, eg 4x2 blah blah becoming 2 blah blah on iphone.
Some background - I added the feed to itunes last week. Did not look at it until yesterday. And all my titles for the podcast had the 2x1 , 2x2 in them from the start - from when I created the episodes in podbean. I only started updating yesterday (again on podbean) cuz it was not showing up ok on the iPhone. SO should it not have worked from the start ? Or am I missing somehting?
Do you think the html code for multiplication is causing it to cut off the text before the x ?
4) As stated above the image is still not visible to me on itunes after subscribing on a PC. What image do you see by the way ? It should be this?

5 & 6) How do you re-upload the feed ? Since I made the update to the image, do I need to re-upload it to make it work? Is that why its not showing up still ?

Firefox 11 does not update its window in a remote control RealVNC session

When I am remote controlling a Windows XP 64bit PC with RealVNC, Firefox 11 does not update its window contecns. Old Firefox 3.6 works just fine. Is it called a redraw or drawing issue?

You can try to disable OMTC and leave hardware acceleration in Firefox enabled.
