Acrobat X not recognising landscape pages

Acrobat X (as part of a TCS3 trial) on Windows XP Pro SP3.
Frame 10 document contains 15 consecutive landscape pages within it.  Save as PDF using Distiller X does not recognise the landscape pages and creates them as portrait.  This means that my very wide table is missing its left- and right-hand columns.
I've tried setting the 'Auto-Rotate Pages' option in Distiller to 'Off', 'Collectively by File' and 'Individually', all with no effect.  What setting should I be using and what else do I need to set to rectify this.  I never saw this happen with my previous setup, Frame 8 and Acrobat 9.
Thanks,
Ant

Thank you for that explanation.  I appreciate your response and knowledge.
I assume that is the correct technical answer.  But from my point of view, I don't care so much as to why it doesn't capture it as I do about how can I get it to capture it.  I assume there is no way to do it.
That border part, regardless of what it is technically, is part of what the viewer sees when he views the page.  It seems to me that the idea of the capture feature is to capture the full Web page as faithfully as possible so it looks exactly as it looks when you view the page live and contains all the information contained in the live page.  So, I think it is a flaw in the Acrobat capture feature that this area is not captured.
I use another .pdf program that captures the page including that part of the page.  But I would prefer to use Acrobat if it worked properly.
If there is some good reason why that area should not be captured, I'd be interested in hearing what it is.  It might be something I am not aware of.  If there is some reason, then maybe the best solution would be to offer some kind of option to capture it with or without certain parts such as the part you mentioned.
The other program has a width adjustment so that you can determine how wide tha capture area is.  It's a nice feature and allows you to capture it the way Acrobat does without the border, or make it wider to capture the border too.  Acrobat should have some way to accommodate this.

  • Print Problem - PDF is OK on Windows 7, but OK on Windows XP with "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."

I have received a PDF which prints fine in Windows 7 but with Windows XP I get "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem." and a blank piece of paper passes through the printer. I appreciate that Windows XP is no longer supported but I would like to think that the solution to this problem is not too difficult!
    I have tried Acrobat 9, 10 and 11.
Any advice (apart from use Windows 7! ) would be most welcome.
    Many thanks.

If you use the same Adobe Reader versions with the same PDF on Windows 7 and XP, then I would expect the outcome to be the same.
Is this a local or online PDF?
If local, is the file really exactly the same?
    If online, in what browser?

  • Error in Acrobat 8: An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly...?

    Hi,
We perform the e-signing on any PDF using our custom e-signature plug-in. Once that's done, when we try re-opening the PDF in Acrobat version 8.0.0.0, we get the following error:-
"An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem"
Please note that this error occurs intermittently and is NOT observed in Acrobat 7 or 9.  Also, when a plain PDF is opened (i.e. a PDF without any signature on it) then there is NO error.
Could you let me know what could be the issue here? I read it in Acrobat 8.1.3 release notes that such an error was a known bug in version 8.0.0.0 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407016.html), but I am not sure of its cause.
    Let me know your comments/suggestions.
    Thanks!

I am getting the same error even in Acrobat version 8.1.3.
Additionally, I noticed that if we click on menu ‘Advanced->Sign&Certify->Preview Document’, then we get a notification as “This document is not PDF/SigQ compliant and may display inconsistently”. On clicking  ‘View report’ on that notification, the below dialog pops up. It has errors listed as:-
Code 4000 : Unrecognized PDF content. The document contains PDF content or custom content not supported by the current version of Acrobat.
Code 4002: PDF content contains erros.
However, if we sign the PDF using default adobe signature functionality and reopen that PDF, the error does NOT come and the notification also says ‘This document is PDF/SigQ compliant’.
Can anybody please suggest what could be missing in the custom sign that we apply? Is it because of any of the missing fonts or any other resources?
    Awaiting reply!
    Regards.

I really would like to disable the pop up only.

  • Acrobat 6 Converting Portrait/Landscape Pages

    Hello,
I am trying to convert a document to PDF which contains both landscape and portrait pages but everytime you try to convert to PDF it runs through the process for a few seconds then everything closes.
I have discovered that if I change the landscape pages back to portrait it works. Is there anyway around this?

It appears to print to PDF ok but the user is attempting to combine multiple documents into a PDF so this would not be a work around.
    The documents are word documents.

  • AR8.1.1 not rotates landscape pages

single landscape pages (A4) in a greater document cannot be rotated automatically for printout - will be truncated instead of. This effect is independent of any settings in page handling in the printer menu. Version AR7.x handles this right. E.g. a pdf exported from OpenOffice with one page landscape and one portrait shows this effect. Unfortunatly also other
single landscape pdf pages cannot be printed right.

    Hello Neha,
    thank you for quick reply.
    1. A file containing portrait and landscape pages is also not complete printable with "Choose Paper source by PDF page size" option.
    2. choosing only one landscape page (as actual page) and printing with option landscape shows the same effect. The same effect occurs by printing a pdf file with a single landscape page. A simple example is
printing a web-page (firefox-1.5) in landscape as page.ps, convert with ps2pdf (ghostscript-8.15) into page.pdf and try to print with acroread(8.1.1). Its impossible for me with any options in print menu.

  • Acrobat 10 not Scanning all Pages from ADF (Automatic Document Feeder)

Acrobat 10 does not scan all of the pages from the Automatic Document Feeder from an attached scanner, and only scans some of the pages. The ADF works fine with the built-in Windows 7 Scan and Fax, as well as with HP's software, but it just won't work with Adobe Acrobat for whatever reason. The scanners that we are using are brand new, and the model is: LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276mw. The issue has been duplicated on four computers and two scanners, in a Windows 7 x64 Enterprise environment. A video of the exact problem can be found here: http://uncoolcat.com/work/LaserJet_Pro_200_Color_M276.mp4
Would somebody be able to help us resolve this issue?

    Hi Varinder,
Thank you for the suggestion! We wound up figuring out a way to make their "full feature" software (which does include the TWAIN drivers) install mostly silently, and install only if they've connected the device locally to their computer, as noted in the other post that was submitted a few minutes ago. I really appreciate all of the help that you’ve given us!
In order to duplicate the WIA driver issue, use only the “HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color M276 PCL6 Print Driver (no installer)” (LJ-Pro-200-color-MFP-M276-driver-only-13170.exe) driver package. This driver only package doesn’t appear to have any of the files you mentioned in your previous post in the Scan_App folder for the TWAIN functionality (but those files are available in the “full feature” setup). We copied the entire “driver-only” folder to our plug and play driver folder, and the drivers automatically install. Once they get installed, there isn’t a TWAIN option anywhere to be found in any scanning application, just the WIA driver as far as I can tell. Adobe Acrobat 10 when using the ADF then skips some pages when scanning.
However, now that you’ve found the install files for the TWAIN driver for the scanner, this should be a non-issue for people as they can just install those and use TWAIN instead, so thank you!
Also, I find it rather amusing that you were able to help us with what appears to be an HP issue far better and faster than HP did or could. We spoke with seven people at HP, and not a single one of them pointed us in any useful direction or provide us with any useful information on the matter; had we followed any of their advice we would have lost countless hours (one person suggested taking the scanners apart and thoroughly cleaning the rollers, even though it was clearly stated they work fine from a hardware perspective with the full feature software installed and that they are brand new). So anyway, thank you. If you require anything else from us, let me know.

  • Acrobat 9 prints half landscape page from windows 7 home

Acrobat 9 reader prints to 1/2 page in landscape mode. The only way I could get it to print correctly in portrait mode, full page was to choose advanced print option and select "Print as Image". I have tried every combination of print dialog settings, updated my printer driver, updated acrobat, and nothing else worked. Every other application works fine except acrobat 9. How can I get acrobat to print a full portrait page without selecting print as image?

I also have this problem, and I am thankful you guys wrote to "print as image".  I believe it is a glitch between Xerox printers and Adobe Reader/Adobe Reader X.  I was hooked up to Xerox Phaser 8560DN-279 and all .pdfs were printing in half page, booklet form.  I uninstalled and reinstalled my printer driver along with uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader.  Tried re-printing and it still printed in booklet form.  I then attached my computer to an HP printer, and it printed fine, full 8.5x11.  So I thought it was the printer connection.  I then attached a 3rd printer to my computer, Xerox Phaser 8560MFP, and once again all .pdfs were printed in booklet form.  So it seems to be to be a problem with adobe reader and xerox printers.

  • Error: An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly.

    Hi --
The PDF I created is throwing an error message for some people in my organization and not others. I took a final PDF from our printer (not sure what they used to create it), optimized it, and added metadata and bookmarks -- all in Acrobat Pro X on a Mac. At one point I replaced a page of a lower resolution version with a page from a higher resolution version in order to maintain resolution for a particular image, but I later optimized the whole file and wiped out the higher resolution image. I also changed the numbering using the thumbnail view so that the frontmatter of the book uses lowercase roman numerals and printed page numbers match document page numbers. I removed the page number from the front and back covers. There are a bunch of images in the file.
The file is on our website behind a registration/log in page (free registration - Lincoln Institute of Land Policy Web Site) and this is a new initiative for us -- giving away full books as PDFs for free -- so I would like to know that the file is not throwing errors. However, there doesn't seem to be a common browser/Acrobat Reader config among the people here getting the error.
I can provide the file if needed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Susan

Acrobat 8 Pro. I combined several other PDFs that I downloaded, into one new document. It saved without errors, then after I printed it, this message popped up.
I poked around in the menus, looking for some type of "audit" function, like my CAD software has and found "Examine Document". I clicked on that and then removed all the 'metadata', 'hidden text on pages' and 'deleted hidden page and image content'. If the error message doesn't pop up again, I'll assume that fixed the problem.

Anyone have a quick fix for this?
The user that created a document updated adobe reader prior to getting this error message.

The PDF file structure is complex with lots of compression, offset tables, xref tables,  mapping information, images, etc  and if Acrobat/Reader cannot fix the minor problem then you need to download a new copy of the file from the source.
If this file is being sent by email make sure you email program can handle the PDF attachment or have the PDF sent to you in a zip file.

  • Reader XI, An Error Exists on this Page, Acrobat may not display

    Hello,
I need some help please.  The small business I work for as a contract employee uses Google Doc's, and we input our information into spreadsheets on a daily basis, from our home computers.
My home computer is XP Professional, and I am using  Mozilla Firefox 36.0. I know we are using older computer programs, but until we can afford newer computers we have to use what we have.
Prior to today, when I printed off my spreadsheets in Google Doc's I had no problems, however tonight I just starting receiving this error message;  An error exists on this page.  Acrobat may not display the page correctly.  Please contact the person who created the file.
I contacted my manager and had her send me a new spreadsheet, Invitation to Edit and input my information into the new spreadsheet.
I then go to my timesheet, and highlight all the rows that I would like to print, then I hit the print key, then I get the box that states, opening my timesheet which is a PDF which is an Adobe Acrobat Document, then I have this message, What should Firefox do with this file?  I have it set to open with Adobe Reader (default) do this for files automatically like this.
The file downloads, however I have noticed that Adobe at times has a difficult time opening up right away and then I receive the error message that Adobe isn't responding and I end up closing the program out and restarting my computer.
This error message shows up just before the document begins to print and the document prints off with out any problems.
I even did a repair and that didn't help.  My printer is a HP Color LaserJet 4500 and I've had no issues with Adobe prior to tonight.
Do I need to uninstall Adobe Reader & Re-install the program?
I can't send a copy of the file because it contains confidential material.
I've also posted this message on Adobe Acrobat, and have not received a response.
    Please advise.
    Thank you,

    Hello,
Thank you for responding.  Sorry that my message is so confusing.
In Google Doc's we are able to highlight/selected portions of a PDF to print.
In Mozilla Fox under Applications, Portable Format Document (PDF) Use Adobe Reader (default).
So when I go to print off my timesheet, after I have highlighted everything, I get this message:  I've chosen to open my timesheet which is: Adobe Acrobat Document from https//docs.google.com. What should Firefox do with this file?  Open with Adobe Reader (default).
Do this automatically for files like this from now on. I click on the OK and the file downloads as a PDF file in Adobe Reader.  On Google Doc's I click on the print key then I am able to open up my printer menu.  Its after I click on the print key that I receive this message.
So what do I do please?
    Thank you,
    Maureen A. Mumm

This is very confusing to me; Adobe Reader does not have such a functionality (to print highlighted/selected portions of a PDF). Could it be that this is a functionality of Google Docs? Also I have never seen a message "What should Firefox do with this file?".
