Acrobat X offline help

Hi,
i have just noticed that Adobe Acrobat X has no oflline help function anymore. Every time when hitting F1 or chosing help from the menu Acrobat is trying to connect to the internet. Of course it can not connect through an authentication proxy and even if it could it would not be allowed in our environment. After some seconds, where the application is not responding, Acrobat is launching the standard browser, but not with the help site for the product, just with the standard home page of the browser.
Is there some workaround for this behavior? I found a way to prevent the Acrobat itself trying to connect to the internet and to launch the browser immediately, but still not with the proper help site.

Here you go: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86505.html
The steps involve:
Disabling Help menu item.
Adding a custom menu item.
Installing PDF help somewhere on your network.
hth,
Ben

  • How to add offline help to Acrobat X deployment using Customization Wizard

We've run into the issue of users being unable to access Online Help described in http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/888/cpsid_88831.html. We use a proxy server for user web authenticationa and filtering so we can't avoid this.
I'd like to know if there's a way to add the offline help to our customized deployment Transform using the Customization Wizard. Has anyone installed the Adobe Community Help Client this way?

The instructions in the admin guide are better: http://www.adobe.com/go/acrobatitinfo.
You can use the Wiz to deploy the PDF Help version. You'll have to run the JS locally to hook up the menu.

  • Acrobat XI Online Help

We are getting an "Online Help cannot be displayed." message when trying to access any of the Adobe Acrobat & Distiller menu options.  Through testing on our system we've narrowed down that this is happening because Adobe Acrobat XI is using an anonymous login to get to the Internet.  Is there anyway that we can configure this to use local system credentials instead of "anonymous"?

Not really.  It appears to be a limitation for Acrobat and Reader Help.  It's documented in a couple of places.

What version of OS X? Some people have luck by clearing their caches. This can be done with Applejack in 10.5. Onyx will work in SL.

    Hello AKA_TG,
There are manuals installed on your PC. You can find them at
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\manuals
    Hope this helps.
But of course these do not include anything like a complete set of manuals like in the 'old' days'. The only included manuals of much help to a beginner are the getting started and quick reference manuals.
    AKA_TG,
If you want a hardcopy, your only real option is to do a print of the LabVIEW Help. I have not done a print in a long while. What I tend to do is look at the release and upgrade notes to see what has changed and then look it up in the Help. I'll also open any new examples with Context Help turned on.

  • Cannot find CS6 offline help file

    Hi,
When I try to opne the Dreamweaver CS6 help file by clicking on help in the help menu or F1 Dreamweaver opens the site http://helpx.adobe.com/de/dreamweaver/topics.html but not the offline help file. I can see that the Adobe help applcation gets started but it terminates after a few seconds. How can I open the offline CS6 help file? Why idoes Adobe help application terminates after a few seconds? Thank you for your help.
    Regards

The answer above is not quite what the first post asked.
In many parts of CS6 - like setting up a site for instance, there is a help button that does not work if you are offline. Local internet services in my part of the world are rubbish at best and hopeless at worst, so it is not always possible to get on line help. This does not help the working day at all.
I have an installation of CS5.5 and when I click on a help link within the program, it finds my offline help files and displays the correct help for the topic.
I just installed CS6 for the first time on a new PC expecting the same. There appears to be no offline help available, nor can I see any way to install it.
After a major search operation on the adobe website, I did find two pdf help files for CS5, one of which has some help for CS6, but not a lot, and another that contains the same help  + 20 or so pages for the creative cloud version, which is of no use to me. For a program that cost a vast amount to purchase, removing the built in help is not what I expected, though I am not at all surprised.
So is there a way to set up offline help without having the pdf file always open just in case? Or are we stuck with a no help system?

  • Adobe Reader X: offline help file?

    hello,
I'd like the F1 link on the Help Menu to open a local offline Help file, not start my browser to go to Adobe's online HTML help pages. Is this possible? Where do I find the necessary file(s)?
I already have saved the reader_X_help.pdf file available via a link on the online Adobe pages, which I certainly will read to get the maximum out of the reader, but context-sensitive F1 key offline help is very convenient and much faster than starting my browser.

Does anyone know were I can obtain the French version of the help pdf?
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/reader/using/reader_X_help.pdf
I've tried changing the language local as per Adobe's suggestions to fr_FR, fr_CA, and CA_fr.
It is always redirected to the en_US link above.

  • Offline help manuals

    Hello,
I've downloaded and installed Apps through Creative Cloud on my desktop and they work fine.
I need help manuals offline installed on my desktop. I tried adobe help manager, but it shows no content available to download. I can access online help for any adobe product from any desktop installed application. That is not a problem. But I need to be able to access help in offline mode also.
    Please help...

Thanks for inputs. I myself reached the below link for online help:
Photoshop Help | Help and tutorials
But I do not see in my browser any PDF download links. I use Chrome on Windows 8.1
Actually it is not so important for it to be PDF. What I need is an OFFLINE HELP manual that is linked to my desktop application and I can access the help in offline mode as I work on the software. Which means when I press F1 from within photoshop, I get to see help even if I'm not connected to the internet. That would be best. If that is not possible, then downloadable PDF manuals would be second choice.

  • Acrobat 7.0 Help PDF

I have v. 7 and want to copy/paste some of its text into a Word document. I cannot find the A7.0 PDF help file on the adobe.com site and the Help function provides a window that you cannot copy. Help!

Use the help menu in Acrobat. The help file is about 280 pages or so of information. You may be able to find a PDF version of the help in the DOC folder of your Acrobat installation. To cut and paste text (assuming you have the fonts and such), you simply use the text select tool.

Will some kind soul please help?

There's a link in the upper right corner of the LR help screen that lets you see a PDF of the help file.
Once you have that showing in your browser, there's a "save" button. The PDF is about 10 megabytes, but you only have to download it once.

    Hey Francois,
Thanks for your response. You almost helped.
I'd like the offline help documention like with the following url:

Or just like Developer 6i, after the installation completed, the Form Builder 6i Developer Guide is installed in local machine at the same time.
where can I find the docs on Form 9i like 6i?
