Acrobat X: OpenInWindowEx with open flag AV_OPEN_DOC shows toolbars
The IAC API reference says:
AV_DOC_VIEW — Display the AVPageView, scrollbars, and bookmark or thumbnails pane. Annotations are active.
Worked as promised from Acrobat version 5 to 9. No longer in Acrobat X.
I need to control what can be done with the document. How can I hide/disable buttons and toolbars ?
Yes, I found this to be the case as well. A huge tool bar right in the middle of our VB app. need to instruct all our users to press F8 to make it go away.
Please post solution or work around.

Acrobat 9 fails to open with single click.
facts:
Bridge created: the pdf that fails is PDF 9, PDF Producer: PDF Library 9.0, PDF version 1.6, 448 kb, [a single page thumbnail creation by Adobe bridge] opens with acrobat 9.0, application = empty
windows Access created: pdf that works with single click: size = 13.1 mbytes, PDF producer = distiller 9. [created inside windows office access 2000], pdf version = 1.5, application = acrobat pdf maker 9.0 for access.
Now for the annoying parts
move both PDFs to their own folders. single click both, the one created by access opens. the one created by bridge doesn't, Buuutt it does stick an adobe pdf in the task manager showing adobe pdf IS open because of the mouse click, but it doesn't open the file, kill the adobe task. Also this one created by bridge, I insert the image into access, and access opens it just fine to my annoyance. I have to immediately close it in acrobat to do anything with the access page I've just imported the image into.
create shortcuts on the desktop, and they both open from the shortcuts with a single click.
Oh yeah the bridge one opens if I right click, and choose to open with acrobat 9 at the very top of the right click menu.
What's going on here ? And how do I get the bridge file to open with a single click and not making it a shortcut ?I received the same error today. It's been working for weeks. At the moment I am working on Windows 8 Consumer Preview with Office 2013 installed on an x64 platform, however that hasn't bothered it since it was installed. However, today I received an Adobe Update, I don't even remember what products were being updated, the update screen popped up, downloaded, installed, the progress bar got to 100% and said 2 seconds remaining and then the module crashed. The cloud activation hasn't worked since. I first get a message that says "We are unable to activate CS6 Creative Cloud Membership Subscription Edition", below that it says, "Product Activation is required to use this product" and below that it says "You must have an active internet connection to activate this product. Please check your connection settings and choose try again." When you click on Try Again, it sends up a new message box that says "Activation Failure". Needless to say I have an active connection. Even though it always worked before, I added Adobe Application Manager to the Windows 8 firewall exceptions list, still no dice. I've rebooted the computer twice.
Update: Turned out this followed another defect identified earlier. It is peculiar to Acrobat X. If you open a different application in the suite, login if asked, then close the application, Acrobat will function again normally.

I have not been able to reinstall Acrobat Pro on my laptop. I have Suite 6 Design & Web Premium on my HP laptop. I have Windows 7 operating system. All of a sudden Acrobat Pro will not open so I uninstalled and tried to reinstall the program.
The error messages I get are:
ERROR: Error 2203.Database: C:\Windows\Installer\12102c.ipi. Cannot open database file. System error -2147287035.
ERROR: Install MSI payload failed with error: 1603 - Fatal error during installation.

I don't know if this is the right section but I experience the following issue with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI installed on Windows 8.1. When I start Acrobat the related window opens normally but, after some scroll up and down along the document, it blocks, Acrobat doesn't respond to any command I can give and, in place of the pointer arrow, a vertical bar, as the one of the text editor appears. The only way I can stop Acrobat is by means of the task manager. I tried to de-install and the re- install Acrobat but the behaviour is always the same. What can I do??
Have you opened Acrobat and gone to Help>Updates to get an updated install?

i used my wifi to download ios 8 after like 5 hours it finished and then it let me install, while installing the software it shutdown and everytime i try to open it it shows up the itunes and the usp cable logo... when i plug in the usp cable it says in itunes( ipad recovery mode) and when i press restore it start downloading the ios software again...... wats tht and what i can do pls help. thnx
FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary. -

I have had a trial version of Acrobat X1 Pro - I have decided not to buy at this stage - for some time it has been conflicting with opening PDF docs after "saving as" from word 2007 - I uninstalled Pro X1 and now when I "save as" PDF from word 2007 to PDF it will save the document as a PDF but will not open the document to display after publishing - I have to got to where the file has been saved to view the new PDF document - this is really annoying - do I have to delete adobe reader and reinstall it - adobe needs to look at this conflict with acrobat pro as I have even gone it to properties and tried to have adobe reader as the default PDF program - the main issue is that I cannot view the PDF after publishing it from word 2007

Quit the app and restart.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
Cannot open digitally signed PDF's with Acrobat but can with Reader.
My users have PDF files that have been digitally signed by other users.
When opening these files with Adobe Acrobat Pro, it crashes the application.- a generic referenced memory error on some systems, a DDE server error on others, or a font capture error on others - not sure why the discrepancy there.
The files can be opened with Adobe Reader with no error.
We are at Acrobat 9.4.5 and Reader 9.4.5
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat Pro 9 and verified the same result with Pro 9.0 so it isn't the version or an update.
I have verified this on multiple machines. - I have even installed both pro and reader on one machine and verified that I could open the PDF file with Reader but not Acrobat Pro.
We can open other PDF files with no problem.
I have tried disabling as much of the security options as possible but still get the same result.
If I clear the PDF file fields (including the signatures) in Adobe Reader then it can be opened in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Does Acrobat Pro authenticate the digital signatures differently than Adobe Reader?

Regarding your question "Does Acrobat Pro authenticate the digital signatures differently than Adobe Reader" the short answer is no.
However, there are other things that Acrobat can do with a file that Reader cannot, so there could be an operation that Acrobat is trying to execute (other than signature validation) which is causing the crash. You don't see it in Reader because Reader doesn't know how to do whatever the offending operation is.
That said, can you send me the file that is crashing Acrobat to [email protected] and I'll see if I can figure out what is amiss.

PDF document opened with Preview does not show french accents
Hi everybody,
I've got some issues with PDF documents opened with Preview.
They show a blank space for all the accented vowels.
If I open the same document with Safari, it's the same. But with Chrome, it works perfectly.
I assume there's a problem with fonts, but, nothing wrong with fontbook (checked duplicates for instance).
Last information : it looks ok within chrome on my Imac, but the issue comes back when I try to print from chrome app...the accents are gone on the sheet.
Any idea ? I don't want to install Adobe reader...

if i could show you a screen shot.... that would have cleared the situation. ads show up in left bottom corner with open/hide button in a frame. and the same ads show up in every html plugin on the webpage especially in facebook social plugins. however on google, mozilla, facebook, twitter there comes no ad like this. Its very annoying. I recently uninstalled firefox for the same reason but nightly is having the same problem. and let me tell you there is no such thing in other browsers like chrome and i.explorer. I like firefox i dont want to change it but i will have to if the problem persisted. :( please help.
hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...

Things I tried.
1) Gave full rights on dreamweaver folder in program files.
2) Disabled welcome screen
3) Updated to Dreamweaver CS5 11.0.4
4) Reinstalled
5) Formated PC
But issue persists, please help.Have you tried deleting or renaming the Dreamweaver configuration file?

This can solve many problems and create one in that any snippets that are installed are lost, but you can get them back. Instead of deleting the config file, just name it config.old. When your system is working, just copy the snippets from the .old file to the new one. -

What version of iPhoto?
If it's 09 or later try
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Problems with opening Acrobat Pro 9 PDF files
Hi. We use Acrobat Pro 9.0.0 to convert our product documentation Word files into PDFs. During the last weeks our customers report more and more problems with opening these files. We usually deliver those on a DVD with Acrobat Reader 5 or another older version. (Please don't ask me why we're still on these old versions!) Did anyone experience similar problems with Acrobat Pro 9 PDF files and older versions of the Acrobat Reader? Does Acrobat Pro 9.0.0 work smoothly with the newest Acrobat Reader 9.1 download?
Please post your comments. Thx a lot - KayI would recommend distributing higher version of Reader as version 5 is just too old but looks like you can't go there.
Acrobat 9 PDFMaker and Adobe PDF printers by default create PDF 1.5 compaible files. PDF 1.5 compatible files can be opened only in Acrobat 6 and above. That's probably the reason why your customers can't see the contents.
What you can do is to change your conversion settings to produce PDF 1.4 compatible files:
- In Word, select Acrobat tab or Adobe PDF menu (depending on your version of Word), select Settings
- Select "advanced settings" in the dialog that comes up
- Choose compatibility as "Acrobat 5", PDF 1.4
IF you print to Adobe PDF printer, you'll find a similar setting in the print dialog. -
