Acrobat X printer issue

While attempting to scan a document, I receive an error alert telling me that that is an "error interacting the the scanner: selected scanner not found"  The HP Officejet Pro 8500 is present and functioning on the PC.  Have uninstalled/installed the printer several times without success.  Printing connection error occured unexpectly and no changes to printer made prior to error alert.

This is a scanner issue, not a printer issue that is usually covered by Windows (at least I am assuming some version of Win.) I have no idea of your Acrobat version, but the problem may be that there is no TWAIN driver installed to interface to the scanner. Can you see the scanner from a graphics package in the scanner mode? If not, it is a driver issue.

I have been using this for months with no problem.  A PDF scanned document looks fine but when it prints, it is either 1) reversed black background with white text; or 2) zoomed in at 500%.
How do i solve this problem?
    Matt

Sounds like a machine/printer specific issue much like I have when I print CD covers out of iTunes to my Epson 2200 and it reduces the image size slightly. I have to compensate by printing at 103%. LOL
I could post my problem for days on the Apple forum and I'd never get a response.
I'm afraid you have a similar problem. Good luck.

  • Acrobat 9 Form Issues - Font, URL, and Print Issues

    Hello folks,
We are developing an Acrobat PDF (I have Pro updated to 9.4.5) with about 30 fields. Some of them contain a default label name, others are blank, and all fields have a unique name. The blank fields on the form are being filled via an automated web services API from Aspose. All info is entered and the PDF is then flattened by the web service.
The document fully populates with all expected data but we are running into three issues:
    1) A field that gets populated with a URL by the script properly becomes clickable if the font is set to Helvetica, but when set to Verdana or Arial fails to be recognized by Acrobat.
    2) When I create a new form field, and assign a font face/size/color and input a default value, if I go back and try and change the size the default content seems to hold it's original size unless I do a full cut/paste of the value back into the box.
    3) We are getting the notorious "An Error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem"
The odd part is we were not getting that error at first - even with data populated. It was only once we started working on getting the fields horizontally and vertically aligned that the error presented itself.
Any thoughts? I have closed and opened Acrobat, tried opening from Acrobat instead of double clicking the PDF but nothing seems to help.

    thanks Mylenium

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 Printing Issue,

    Hello,
There is an issue I have been facing now a days. Our company application has been upgraded from oracle 6I to 10g. The output thereby comes as .pdf which is then printed on a pre-printed stationary.
The situation is there are two printers with two paper size settings and two different stationaries (A4 and letter) installed on each user.
The issue is when a user selects an A4 printer from the print dailog box of acrobat reader, the preview box won't get updated with the new page lengths, instead would print the output on the last page length settings. Suppose he selects A4 manually from the printer properties it would print fine. But again in the next print when he needs to print letter, acrobat would print with the A4 (last settings) and thus the print-out wont fit on the pre-printed stationary.
For each customer there is one A4 and one letter print and thereby a user can't affort each time to go in the printer properties and give the page length so acrobat reader would update its preview.
I would be really appreciated if someone would give me a permanant work around for this.
I apologize for such a long explanation, and also if this topic is already posted elsewhere.
    Thanks.

  • Acrobat 8 pro printer issue started today, auto scrolls to Microsoft XPS Document writer.

I have used Acrobat 8 Pro for many years with no problems. Yesterday, when I went to print a document, it auto scrolled down to Microsoft XPS document writer. I could not select my installed Brothers Printer.
I have also encountered auto scroll issues when opening my C drive.
I have installed Adobe Acrobat 8 updates, have run virus and malware software programs and they show no infections.
Nothing I have tried corrects this issue.
Has anyone else run into this ?
Any suggestions as to how this issue can be corrected?
    Thanks,

    Hi Auto5starz,
For the printer issue ,please take the following steps to have a check :

  • 11x17 Printing Issues with Acrobat version 8.2.3

I'm using Acrobat version 8 on Windows Vista here at work and both myself and a coworker can't print 11x17 pages. We've ruled out printer issues, as 11x17 pages will print from other programs. For a while, I was able to work around this problem by opening the PDF in Illustrator and printing it 11x17 from there. But as of today, none of my Adobe programs will print in 11x17 at all. This is a big issue as I often need to print technical drawings for equipment manuals and those need to be on 11x17 paper.
Has anyone else had this problem or something similar? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You haven't mentioned anything about your printing environment.  Are you printing to a photocopier via a computer interface?  Or is this an inkjet printer or a laser printer?  Have you selected the appropriate tray for 11x17?  Have you tried "print according to PDF paper size"?  (I don't actually remember the exact wording of that setting)

  • Acrobat PDF Printer STILL freezes when pasting filename into Save dialog

Ref: Acrobat Printer Freezes on Save when CTL+V is used
No change in Acrobat X.  Printing system still freezes up entirely when pasting a filename into the Save dialog, when printing to Adobe PDF printer.  Most often from Firefix (all versions through 28.0) but from other programs as well (also happens from MS Outlook 2010 32 bit).
Any chance of an update from Adobe?
Acrobat Pro X on Win 7 64 bit.  Multiple systems exhibit same behavior.
Same issue occurs in Acrobat XI Standard.
Workaround is possible by manually typing in filename, or renaming, but clearly this should not be happening.  If you forget, it requires a lot of steps (or a reboot) to try again.

If you copy text directly from FireFox (or Word, or pretty much any program, other than Notepad), and try to paste into the Save Dialog to save your PDF, guaranteed crash.
HOWEVER, if you paste the text into Notepad first, and then copy it again, you can then paste into the Save dialog no problem.  This is why the "test" that the Adobe rep did to recreate the problem was pointless: He managed to re-create the one workaround method that DOES work, instead of actually trying to do things the way that were causing the issue to show up.
The problem appears to be related to any sort of "rich" text.  Windows ignores the "rich" information and only keeps the text if you paste into a filename in the system.  So Windows handles it just fine, it's Adobe's save dialog that can't handle it.  Copied text from Firefox is usually pretty clean (IE is worse), but there must be some formatting remnants in there that are giving Adobe fits (instead of properly ignoring them).  It may have something to do with 64-bit Windows and 32-bit Firefox and 64-bit Acrobat all coming together?  Copying and pasting between 64-bit and 32-bit programs usually has no issues, but in this case, it does (although the 64/32 bit relation is pure speculation on my end).
But by "washing" your text through Notepad first, it completely strips it down to truly pure plain text, which can then be pasted into Adobe's Save dialog without a crash.  This adds an extra step, and should be entirely unnecessary, but it does work.  At least until Adobe fixes their program.

  • Reader 10.1.3 Kyocera Print Issue

    Hello,
we are experiencing an Print-Issue in one of our field offices in Austria.
After we deployed Acrobat Reader 10.1.3 (from 9.5) the employees in this Office were no longer able to print on an Kyocera FS-C5015N(via Network), when they try to print any PDF they get the following error message : "Adobe reader has encountered a problem and needs to close"
Because this Kyocera is only in this office we cannot reproduce this Issue somewhere else.
We are running Win XP Sp3
There is no other PDF Software installed
    What we already tried :
    - Re-Install Acrobat Reader 10.1.3
    - Re-Install Printer on the PCs
    - Re-Install Printerdrivers
    - Re-Configure Printer Settings
    - Re-Configure Printer Network Settings
    - Disable "Protected Mode on Startup"
    - Disable "Show PDF in Browser"
    - Enable the "Print as Picture" setting
    - Different PDFs,
    - When we Print to another local Printer there is no Problem(but thats a small&slow one and just our Emergency Solution)
    - After we Re-Installed the Printer on the PCs the first printing attempt works without Problems
    - Tried to print over the Network from my office (Vienna) on this printer -> same Problems
    - Also some other "tricks" the local IT-Expert tried
So my question is, if anyone is experiencing the same Issue on this Kyocera or any other or can give me any Feedback according this Problem.
    Thanks !

Regarding your issue; it appears you have already tried everything possible - I have no other ideas what to try with 10.1.3.
The only solution for now I can see is to revert back to 9.5.1; is this a problem for you?  This should be only temporarily until a new version of 10.x or 11.x becomes available.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro issues with thumbnails.

I've noticed the following issues in Acrobat 9 Pro. Any ideas on these would be helpful.
In the thumbnails view, for larger documents, the last page (thumbnail) is always out of view and I can't scroll down any further to see it.
In previous versions, to replace a page, I could drag a page from another PDF and hover over the thumbnail page number. When the thumbnail was highlighted, that page would be replaced with the new one.

  • Printing Issue - Custom Media Sizes, InDesign CC/Mac Mavericks

    Hi all,
I've got a strange problem that I hope someone can provide some insight to.  Perhaps this is a bug, but I'd rather ensure that there isn't something here that I haven't understood.
I have a project that I periodically modify and re-print on custom size media (3.25" x 7.36").  I've used the same Id document and workflows since, probably, Id 2 or 3, updating each time to the latest versions.  The problem may be in the way Id CC interacts with the MacOS X printing system.  The printer in question is a Xerox 8550.
The project is a one page table printed on this particular card stock.  What's happening is that the printable area on the stock isn't being fully used - the top and bottom of the media aren't being printed - thus the top and bottom of the content is being cut off, in a way that wasn't an issue previously.
The printer control panel prompts for and accepts the media size correctly (I believe these printers have checks to ensure media fed matches the printable area; the Phaser engine doesn't like printing "off the paper").
Again, the same document has been used for many years, so I've tried the following steps to isolate and remediate the problem:
Document Setup: Custom Page Size, verify correct for media.
Print dialog: "Page Setup..." format for (custom media size defined for OS X), also verified to be correct for media.
Print dialog: "Setup", paper size Width and Height, correct; orientation correct, offset and gap 0p0, scale 100%.
    Print dialog: PPD correct.
Recreated document, re-entering sizes and verifying setup.  No change.
Created a test document, with same settings, and a scale extending outside of the printable area.  The specs for (and my experience with) the printer are that the printable area is 5mm from the edge of the paper.  The result of the test is that the content is cut off at 10-11mm from the edge instead.
Exported PDF from Id.  Printed using Preview, same OS X page setup configuration.  Printer prompts for correct media size.  Content in test file prints as expected, to 5mm from media edge.
Printed test document from Acrobat XI, using "Actual Size", "Choose paper source by PDF page size", and "Use custom paper size when needed".  Printer prompts for correct media size, content prints as expected, again, to 5mm from media edge.
So, in brief, exported PDF prints properly (and this is a workaround), but it's a pain that Id has this issue.  All software involved is up to date.  I haven't tried to dig into the PPD, as PostScript isn't one of my areas of strength, but I'm reasonably sure it's correct.  I've also tried a similar test using Letter-size paper, and that also prints to 5mm.
I'd love to get some feedback on this.  Many thanks.

For what its worth, I've been trouble shooting this issue with Adobe / Xerox / Apple for some time now. Here are my findings so far:
--------------------------------------------------Adobe's final response after a very long help ticket--------------------------------------------------------
This Email is in regards to the case related to the adobe application and Printing issue ,
As checked we were able to see that application  is able to create the document with correct size , when checked within Adobe Pdf properties the size was showing as per document specification and when we tried to print the same , the document was showing the same values carried forwarder to the printer and in the preview it was showing the same specific setting of the document size in the printer previewer
It was during the printing process the same value are not being calculated correctly as per our interaction ,  you were able to use the same in the previous version of Mac  10.8. 5 , please check if there is any update available for the 10.9 version of mac and if it would work on the same ,we would request you to contact your printer help support for the same we are leaving the case open and would request you to call us back if there is any further issue  on  800 833 66 87

Here the Decline from 3rd Level Engineering.
    2nd Level Reference #: 19458297
    Customer Name: VDB REAL ESTATE
    Product Model: Phaser 7800
Problem Summary: Scale is incorrect when printing PDFs on custom size paper in OS X 10.9
    Decline Reason: App/3rd party Issue
Note: I tested using the included process steps:
    STEPS TO REPRODUCE-
    I tested using a PDF that was 6" x 8.5".
In Acrobat or Adobe Reader, choose File > Print, go to Page Setup and create a custom page size of 8" x 9.5".
In the Acrobat dialog, set the size to "Actual size".
Print this to the device, note that the image is about 7" x 10".
Interestingly, in the Acrobat dialog, if "Choose paper source by PDF page size" is selected, the previewed page size is not that of the document, but instead shows 10.13" x 7.17".  This size will change if different printers are selected.
Scaling is not an issue when printing to standard page sizes.
I was able to recreate the issue on a Mac running OS 10.9.1 using the Xerox 7800 print driver. I then tested on Mac OS 10.9.1 using a generic Postscript driver and also recreated the issue.  This indicated that this is not a Xerox driver issue.  I then tested on a Mac OS 10.8.5 using the same Xerox 7800 driver version and it worked as expected without scaling the image.
Mac OS 10.8.5 uses CUPS version 1.6.2 for printing where 10.9.1 uses CUPS version 1.7.  I believe this is a CUPS issue and you will need to work with Apple to resolve it.

While using 10.92 with Xerox Phaser 7800DN (2.94.1 PPD - Installed via Software Update), PDF at a custom page size was sent to spool folder via Preview was correctly sized, however the document produced by Adobe Reader appears to be icorrect. When using Preview the PDF printed to a custom page size at 100% scale comes out the proper size.

  • InDesign CS4 Printing issue

    Hi:
I use InDesign CS4 in my job as a church office manager. I print bulletins that are usually 3 letter-sized pages, landscape, 2-sided, and newsletters that are 2 11x17 pages, landscape, 2-sided. I'm working in Mac OS 10.5.8.
Until today, I was using a fairly old HP 8100dn printer. When I upgraded from CS3 to CS4 last summer, I found a strange thing: I couldn't print duplex on letter-sized paper from InDesign. No matter what settings I selected, the printing would not duplex. As a workaround, I had to export everything as a PDF and print from Acrobat, where the duplexing worked fine.
Weirdly, 11x17 duplex printing worked correctly from InDesign.
I never solved the problem, but when I posted this on the forum last summer, one responder said that it might have had something to do with the 8100's age and its PostScript Level 2 emulation.
Just today, my office got a new(er) printer, an HP 8150dn. This one has PostScript Level 3 emulation.
Precisely the same problem. Letter-sized won't duplex from ID; 11x17 will. Exporting letter-sized documents to PDF and printing from Acrobat is once again the workaround. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it is a bit of a hassle.
Does anyone have any sort of idea about why this is happening, or better, how it might be fixed?
    Thanks much,
    GT
PS: ID won't duplex when printing in portrait orientation on letter-sized paper, either.
Message was edited by: It doesn't work!

Well, I fixed it, I think… I googled "Printing issues in Mac OS," which led me to install Gutenprint 5.2.5 — whatever the heck that is — and suddenly duplex printing worked in both landscape and portrait on letter-sized paper.
Unfortunately, and yet not at all surprisingly, I now couldn't print to 11x17 at all. No matter what I did, the printer used Tray 2 (letter), or told me to put custom paper in Tray 1.
So, as a last-ditch attempt to resolve this before I jumped off the roof, I reset the printer to its factory defaults and deleted all traces of it from Mac OS's Printer and Fax window.
Then I created one new printer called "8150 (Gutenprint)" using the Gutenprint driver, and one called "8150 (11x17)" using the default HP driver, both using the same IP address. Lo and behold, when I select the one, I can print duplexed on letter size, and when I select the other, I can do the same on 11x17.
I don't know if this is the sort of thing that a real tech-head would condone, but it finally seems to work. Since I'd never be printing to both printers simultaneously, I figure I can live with this.
If anyone cares to explain to me in layman's terms what Gutenprint is all about, I'd love to be educated…

  • Unusual InDesign/PDF/Printer Issue

I am currently using InDesign CS3 and Acrobat Professional 8.
I received a CS4 file that I could not open from another designer, he saved it as a .inx file which opened in CS3. I made the changes to the document, relink the images, and when I would export to pdf, the images in the design will print with a faint box around them, when in fact they are images that are cutout (have no background). 3 images are .tiffs and one is a .psd. They all look fine on a computer screen, but when it prints, the box shows up. We printed the pdf on several different printers and on one printer there is a box around those images. On another printer the box is not there. I'm not sure if its an Indesign issue, PDF issue or a printer issue. I've tried exporting it as PDF/X-1a:2001, that didn't work.
    Please help! Thanks.

The directory structure for the template files are the same for Desktop and Server.
When I open up the PDFs generated by both, doing a side by side comparision, the server looks blurry at 125% zoom level while desktop looks sharp.

  • Acrobat 8 raster issue

I'm using Acrobat 8 print to Apdobe PDF to create a pdf document, but it seems every .joboptions setting I use creates rasterized artwork. I am printing from a pdf form to pdf in order to be able to step and repeat. The source PDF form is using a vector eps logo and standard system font. This just started happening a few days ago. I've had no issue for years up to this point. I can't send rasterized artwork to my printer.
I've tried every .joboptions setting, even creating my own. "Print as image" is turned off.
    Thanks.

Yes, the page 2 logo does have 3 raster images in it.
Yes, I am using Acrobat Default in Advanced, mixed with a custom High Quality Print profile under Properties.
Oddly, when switching from Default to Custom, then back to Default, the issue has resolved itself. I made no other changes other than to cycle the settings under Advanced.
Back in business with my jury rigged workflow
