Acrobat X Pro keeps opening jpgs with PHOTOSHOP!

This is killing me... attached .jpgs I have within Acrobat files used to click open in PREVIEW. Quick, easy, at a glance. Since installing Photoshop via Creative Cloud, every time I click an image, I have to wait for Photoshop to spin up, run its nonsense, then show me a simple, single pic within its cumbersome, unnecessary layout.
I get the logic, they're both Adobe products, but I don't need Photoshop to open unless I WANT it to open!! For the love of all things holy I'm hoping someone can tell me how to select which app opens when I click on an image in Acrobat X Pro.
Adobe Acrobat 10.1.13
Macbook Pro current gen.
OS 10.8.5
Thanks!

I solved this.
I noticed some alternate options for opening attachments (seen in attached photo.) The second from left is "open file in it's native application."
That got me thinking on how to fix this... Even though the attachment was a simple .jpg, it has somehow been created in photoshop; so it kept opening photoshop. I opened it in Preview via the finder, did a "save as" through Preview and replaced the Acrobat attachment with this new file. That in turn reverted it to the Preview app.
Thanks for your reply!
And lesson learned.

  • Acrobat X Pro not opening - Part II

I previously posted on this topic on April 19 and 20 (see http://forums.adobe.com/message/5253051#5253051), but surprisingly, received no responses. I am now reposting because the problem continues and I have been unable to find a satisfactory solution. I hope this post will catch the attention of someone knowledgeable with Acrobat X.
Every few weeks, Acrobat X Pro stops opening. I cannot open Acrobat through the Start menu and double-clicking on PDFs does nothing. When Acrobat is working properly, double-clicking a pdf causes it to open in Acrobat. Today is at least the third time I have had this problem. In the past, restarting my computer or repairing the Acrobat installation did not help. The only solution I found was uninstalling and then reinstalling Acrobat X, which usually costs me at least 20 minutes each time I have this problem.
About an hour ago, I was viewing a pdf in Acrobat when suddenly Acrobat shut down and would not reopen. The only possible trigger I can think of was a Windows automatic update that I installed about 7 hours earler. It was a critical, recommended update. It may have had some relationship, but I suspect the problem is instead some unresolved bug in Acrobat X.
Is anyone aware of this problem and is there a permanent solution?

This is part of a CS6 install. I guess if on Oct. 24 (30 days from Sept. 24) Acrobat is not launching, I will know that the problem is linked to the article you cited.
By the way, the above link misdirects. The correct link is: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/acrobat-failed-launch-30-days.html.

  • Registration box keeps opening when starting Photoshop

I installed Photoshop on my laptop running Windows 7.  Each time I start Photoshop, a box opens up and asks me if I want to register the product.  I went ahead and filled in the boxes and registered, however, the same registration box keeps opening each time Photoshop starts running.  How do I stop this annoying box from opening again?

Let me guess, it's an older version of Photoshop, right?
You'll most likely get past it by doing the following:
Disable UAC, reboot Windows, run Photoshop from an Administrator account, then re-enable UAC and reboot again.
Some say just running Photoshop as Administrator will take care of the problem, but there are subtle differences between running an app As Administrator and running with UAC disabled.
Microsoft doesn't advertise it much, but the reason UAC can be disabled is that there are compatibility issues with older software than are worked around by doing so.  If you choose to leave UAC disabled, you should read up on what UAC does for you and make sure you understand what additional precautions you should be taking to keep malware at bay.

You may be able to drag and drop the icons from one toolbar onto another, you can then hide the toolbar that you no longer need. For details on how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

  • Huey pro and bad colors with photoshop or on windows

I begin to be realy unhappy with my W700.
If somebody use here this material at full capability, it will notice than huey pro create an icc profil for the display monitor on Vista or Seven.
If you use as this the profil and leave association with Huey/monitor, the colors looks good on my W700 for the destop but are completly false on Photoshop, Acrobat or Windows photo display. The red is missing. Instead of the red color, i have somethint like a yellow/brown. If i want the red on theses softwares, i need to use a Lenovo Brightview profil (downloaded on the lenovo support)
Hardware problem or gadget technology ?
I wasting three days with no result. It seems than not a lot persons use this calibration display or checked it.

  • Acrobat XI Pro keeps asking for activation

    Hi,
I've got my CC going for couple of months without any problems, recently I've installed Acrobat XI Pro and it was working ok, but for some reason it keeps asking me to license this software after I open a pdf file or launch it manually. When I go to login and it connects correctly its asking me for serial number.. I must launch another Adobe app like Photoshop and the same license window pops out, but right now after I login it goes fine and disappears - right now my Acrobat works fine but I have to do this every day to get it work :/
How can I fix this annoying problem? All other CS programs run fine without asking me to activate but when I start Acrobat even them seem to lose activation info, its strange... Help?
I've checked the Hosts file, checked activation server connectivity, tried to fix Acrobat installation but still nothing..
My OS is Windows 8 64bit
    Best Regards,

  • Acrobat 9 pro double opening problem, in PS and Acrobat ?

I've seen other posts about PS refusal to open an Acrobat 9 pro file, and tried the suggestions for sneaking the file in by copying via Reader, etc.  This drastically reduces resolution, and I'm creating a file for publishing.  I also tried sending the file to a professional designer, who is using the latest acrobat on her end, on an Apple. She can't open my file either.
PS gives me the message: "There was an error processing the document.  The file may be damaged or corrupted.
My designer, using Acrobat, gets the message: File is damaged and cannot be repaired.
As many people have noted, this did not happen with Acrobat 7.  How do you get past this?  Can it be the upgrading to Acrobat 9 renders the other Adobe programs useless unless they're upgraded as well?  I thought only Microsoft did that.

    Hi,
Without more information I am only guessing, but I suspect it's an issue related to the version of PDF and the version of Photoshop you are using. Although we certainly don't specifically work to prevent people from using different versions of the software together, this can result from version mismatches. For example, if you are using Acrobat 7, then I am guessing you might be using Photoshop CS2. Acrobat 9 (and more importantly PDF 1.8) didn't exist then, and there is no way to predict what cool things might be added to future releases—like the Flash player.
The good news is that you can essentially back-save a PDF with Acrobat to fix this. Try this: Advanced: PDF Optimizer: and choose Make Compatible with Acrobat 7 and try it again. If that doesn't work for you, repost with the following details:
    Version of Photoshop
Version of Acrobat you are using
Attach a file if you can
And I'll try to see what's happening.

  • How do I fix the Database Organizer Error when using Acrobat 9 Pro on desktop PC with Windows 8.1 and 64-bit OS?

After loading Acrobat 9 Pro on my desktop PC (Windows 8.1; 64-bit OS), opening and closing a previously saved pdf file, I constantly get a message pop-up that indicates a "database organizer" error.
    How do I fix this?
I have read multiple responses at various forums and they do not seem to apply, or have not worked for others, with regard to the details of my version of Acrobat and Windows OS.
I'm beginning to think that the only solution is to purchase the latest version of Acrobat Pro and install it on my PC, which, of course, I would prefer not to do, unless this is my only viable option.
Can this problem, specific to my version of Acrobat and Windows OS, be fixed or is the simple answer:  purchase the latest version of Acrobat Pro, because there is no fix for my version of Acrobat/Windows OS?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Acrobat 8 Pro keeps giving me a "...has stopped working" popup, but....

it's still running and working fine. And even when it's not running, nor have I used it in a while, out of nowhere I'll get a popup saying "Adobe Acrobat 8 has stopped working". Intersting. How can it stop working if it isn't running? And when it's open and I get the popup, why doesn't it shut down? Very odd and mostly annoying. I'm running Vista Home Premium and Acrobat 8 Pro is a legal paid-for version and I hadn't had this problem until maybe a couple months ago. But then with some so-called MS updates, I've had several oddities crop up in other programs.
    In a nutshell, here's what's happening:
    (1) "Adobe Acrobat 8 has stopped working" popups appear when the program isn't even open nor has been used for a while.
    (2) When the program is open and I get the popup (always and several times during a session), the program continues to run with no problem.
    (3) When I click "Close Program" in the popup, the popup disappears but Acrobat continues to run just fine.
    (4) No problem closing Acrobat 8 using the standard "X" in top right corner. Other than the very annoying popups, it seems to work fine.
    (5) I've been using Acrobat 8 Pro for about a year with absolutely no issues until this began about two months ago.
BTW, I did a dearch and found a couple related topics but no one reporting the same issue I'm experiencing.

    Tim,
Tried your suggestion and still getting the popups. Also did a program repair via control panel. I've tried about everything now with no change. I'm sure it has something to do with one or more Windows update(s) since it all of a sudden began after updates a couple months ago but it'd be very difficult to pinpoint which one(s). I only use this program in the work I do for a local magazine to send page proofs to our proofer. The owner purchased it, so maybe I can talk him into buying an update. Hey, it's a write-off !

  • Acrobat XI Pro automatically closes itself with no messages etc. after few seconds

    Greetings all,
I don't know why but my Acrobat XI Pro (11.0.0) automatically closes itself (with no warning, no messages etc.) after few seconds. I installed the AXI as a part of the CS6 Master Collection on my Windows 8 (x64) laptop. Just as suggested at some other posts in the forum:
I checked the "security settings (enhanced)" tab but the protected view option is already off.
I searched for the eula.exe under the "Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0" folder but there is no eula.exe. May it be not present because I installed it as a part of CS6 Master Coll. package?
I am using Eset Endpoint Antivirus as a third party Anti Virus Software.
    The problem occurs when:
I open up a pdf file from outlook etc.
I manually open a pdf file from windows explorer
I open adobe acrobat with no file to view
As I mentioned above, I see no error messages or warnings during the closing down. It acts as if I clicked the close button on the top right corner. I know that there are a lot of posts in the forum about this issue, but none of them helped me to solve my problem. I would be glad if you can help me with this problem.
    Thanks,

Hey i was having this issue also with Adobe Acrobat pro... it only seemed to be affecting one program that produced PDF output automatically. When the processes finished the PDF is supposed to be displayed and instead it would rapidly flash across the screen and close. THen i would have to hunt for the PDF to review its content. I tried a couple of things like deleting my preferences for acrobat C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0. You might have to show hidden files. In the explorer window select Organize-> Folder and search options-> once that opens view -> check show hidden files, folders and drives. then navigate that path above. Make sure adobe is closed then delete everything in there or move it off to another folder if your worried it will break it further.
That did not fix the problem though. I opened the application and ran my process again same results (adobe closes pdf auttmagically). so i opened adobe acrobat and navigated to Edit -> Preferences -> look under the General tab and click the select default PDF handler and that seemed to fix my problem. I also disabled the enhanced security look further down in that list under security enhanced. then a reboot so it is possible that the enhance security setting was the cause i think i will play with that for a minute to see if it was but i think my issue was the default handling. good luck

  • No show-up of a dialogue box again for me to enter S/N of Acrobat 9 Pro;and pic distort in Photoshop

    I have two problems:
    1. The Acrobat 9 Pro is a separate DVD and I did again just insert this DVD. Still no dialogue box appears for me to enter the serial number (even though I have got the

    2. Another problem is that what ever picture I open in PhotoShop, the picture is fragmented and distorted (as shown in the attachment of my previous email).
