Acrobat X Pro Mac upgrade from 9 Pro Ex PC

I had been running Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on my PC and when I recently went back to a Mac, Adobe sales said I could just buy an upgrade and enter my old serial number and it'd all be good. Doesn't like my old serial number as it wants a Pro version from the Mac for a serial number to upgrade from. In need of getting this working ASAP and have been on ignore with tech support for the past 30 minutes after being told it would be a 3-6 minute wait. What do I do?

At the top of the box it should say Adobe Acrobat Pro DC or Adobe Acrobat Standard DC.
On each of the two machines, what does it say? (I think something odd has happened)

No, forget it. Adobe only sells current versions. How would you even be able to buy a used upgrade that is tied to someone else's previous version? Makes no sense at all and is clearly a breach of the EULA - whoever may sell you this "upgrade" would have to include all his previous versions leading up to that point, making it a completely independent full license that has no relation whatsoever to your CS4. And you would still have to run the license transfer drill.

PPC Mac upgrade from 10.4.11 to 10.5.6 disabled memory

I have a G4 PowerBook and I just upgraded to 10.5.6. For some reason the system only sees one of my two 512 mb memory chips it says the other slot is empty. This memory was factory installed when I bought the computer. It was fine before I upgraded. Any Ideas?

Note, Best I can tell the later PowerBook G4's have problems with the Lower Memory slot. My Daughter has been using a 15" / 1.67 G4 that we purchased in July 2005 and bought Apple Care at that time. Starting in May of 2008 it stopped seeing the Lower Memory slot, Apple replaced the mother board and that repair was covered by 90 day repair warranty. It stopped seeing the lower slot in October 2008, and Apple replaced the mother board again and it worked until the end of December when the 3rd mother board would no longer read the lower slot. My daughter also has a friend with a same vintage 1.5 GHz 15" PowerBook G4, and her's is not reading the lower slot either.
The good news in our case is that after the 3rd failure Apple replaced her G4 with a new MacBook Pro. Other than this issue we had gotten good service out of that G4, and now have a brand new MacBook Pro.
There was a Service Extension Program for specific S/N G4s with this problem, but I think it is much wider spread than the S/N in that program.
We were very lucky to catch the problem while still under warranty, and to have each subsequent failure occur within the repair warranty period.
Note that my daughter's G4 was running Leopard when this started happening, but her friend is still running Tiger. I don't think the OS version has anything to do with this problem.

Don't know who you are or who you're with, sorry to have caused trouble. But, the problem is with Adobe. Either they offer an upgrade or they don't. It is very convoluted and frustrating on the website, they owe users more!!!!!! I followed THEIR links to this forum and posted my question. I would think that if you are with Adobe at least you would provide a link rather than angry criticism.

This error usually comes up if the serial number you are using is an Upgrade serial number.
In such a case the installer will prompt to enter the previous qualifying version serial number.
Please send me a private message with the serial number and I will validate and confirm that for you.
If you do not have the previous qualifying version serial number then the current serial number needs to be unlocked.

Can't Drag and Drop from pages bar in Acrobat XI Pro for Mac?

In adobe Acrobat XI for Mac, how do I drag pages from the Pages Thumbnail sidebar into finder and make a new PDF?
In windows I can simply select the pages, drag and drop them into Explorer and it creates a completely new PDF with the pages I dragged. I've tried everything on my Mac and I can't get it to extract this way.
It's extremely slow and frustrating having to manually right click extract, select the pages, open it in a new adobe window, then have to save the file through the menu.
On windows I just select the page, drag to the folder, click , and rename.

I was suddenly having the same problem in Acrobat XI Pro for Windows (recently upgraded to CC from Acrobat X). For the past while I've sometimes had to use the "insert from file" tool to get a page added from another file. I couldn't figure out why dragging sometimes would no longer work, but was too busy to go looking for a solution until tonight.
The solution was given by JoshTatum24 above. Switch from a scrolling page display to single page display. Now I can drag pages between documents again. THANK YOU Josh!
Oh, and CORREAdmin, it does not matter whether the hand or arrow selection tool is active, my mouse pointer is always an arrow when positioned in the page thumbnails panel. Switching selection tools does not make a difference in dragging, but switching between scrolling and single page display definitely DOES make the difference.

Cannot install upgrade from Acrobat XI Standard to XI Pro

I have uninstalled Standard, downloaded upgrade per Tech help, and when I click on .exe file it brings up a pop-up for Standard Installation. Any help?

Are you running Windows? It's possible that some of the files part of the previously installed Acrobat XI Standard have been left behind on your system, causing this issue.
Adobe has made a tool available that helps you cleanup failed or partial uninstalled of Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat versions – it's for standalone installs. Hopefully running this tool on your system prior to trying to run the Acrobat XI Pro install
The tool is available from Adobe Labs: Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool
If this doesn't work, let us know some more details:
What operating system are you running? (Win 7, Win 8, Mac OS X 10.10.x etc).
Provide screenshots if possible with error messages you might see.

You will need to get a 10.6 Snow Leopard retail disk which I don't think are still available from Apple.
Google "buy mac 10.6 snow leopard" to get an idea of current pricing. You'll need updates to10.6.8 in order to upgrade to 10.7 (the early core duo MBPros can not do this) or possibly 10.8 but check the exclusion list to be sure.

So coming into the situation I know this. My department used to use a .ps file to build a publication into a PDF from other .ps files. We operate on a network share (the P: drive) on Windows XP SP3 machines with the latest updates.
In Acrobat Pro 7 we could double click the .ps file which executed the below code through Adobe Distiller and a finished PFD of the same file name would be output to the host directory. But now, after upgrading to Adobe Acrobat 9, this process only produces a PDF with all of the appropriate bookmarks and none of the content.

An observation -
It looks like you are dealing with files that reflect someone's work with the pdfmark Reference (associated with Distiller).
As with Acrobat Security, JavaScript and the Acrobat SDK the 'how-to' from these all undergo changes with each new Acrobat release.
I suspect that the coding, while adequate for back when Acrobat 7 was new on the street, may have to be updated to comply with what the Distiller provided with Acrobat 9 supports.

When upgrading from Abobe Acrobat Pro 9 to XI, is it possible to save Headers and Footers in documents?

I support a law firm that users headers and footers in their documents. They are upgrading from Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 to XI. when they did an install on one PC, the headers and footers in a PDF did not show and had to be recreated. Is there a way around that? I's appreciate any input.

This is a work around. Bring the pdf into Illustrator. Go to Select >Object>Text. In the attributes panel, deselect Overprint. In the Transparency panel, select Knockout Group. In the Appearance panel, check to make sure the black is not overprinting by clicking on the Character entry. If not, try clicking "Clear Appearance" (here I got a little lost.
Resave the pdf file. Your black text should now knock out. You may have to retrap, unless your RIP does that for you.
Hope this helps. (I had to keep trying to get it to work, but I finally did.
