  • Acrobat 9 Pro upgrade installation on new PC

    Hi,
I've installed Acrobat 9 Pro on my new PC using the serial number I received when I bought it in 2010.
However, as part of the installation process, I'm now being asked for the serial number for the original product that this one was an upgrade for. I don't have that, as I bought it in 2008.
Is there any way I can find it online?

    Hi NickCrowhurst,
Thank You for posting on the forums. Kindly helps with the information listed below for further assistance.
1.where did you purchase the previous version of acrobat from (Adobe/Reseller)
    2.Did you register the product.

  • Trial Version of Acrobat 9 Pro Extended Installation Problems

I just downloaded a trail version of Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. We are trying to install this version on Windows Vista Enterprise which is being vertualized with Parallels version 3.0 on a Mac O/S Leopard. We get the following errors; Main_File_Version Error, Product_Registry_Parant Error, and Product_Registry_Key Error. Does any know if Acrobat 9 will work in this type of environment?

I cannot speak for the trial or Vista, but Pro 9 Extended works well
    with XP SP3 under Parallels.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro re-installation problem

I have a new PC where I installed Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium. I deactivated the programs on my old machine succesfully and so far InDesign and Photoshop are fine. However, when I installed Acrobat (software is on a separate CD), I get the message "Invalid Serial Number.  This is not a valid serial number.  Please go back and re-enter your serial number". I'ved used the serial number on my License Certificate, it is a separate one, not the same as the one of the Design Premium.

There is a kb document on this error.

While installing Acrobat XI Pro, the installation automatically rolls back and I get the message "The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (11.0.07) could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again." How to resolve it.
How do I modify the system.

    Hi Rgardezi,
The only reason why Acrobat installation fails and throw this error message is when there are some services running in the background causing the installer not to complete the installation. My take is try the following steps and suggest if you were able to install the products or not :
    1) Navigate to control panel and confirm that there is no line Item that talks about Acrobat. If you see Acrobat XI listed there, please remove them.
    2) Perform a selective Start up using the steps mentioned in this link.
Please suggest if the above mentioned steps were able to resolve the query for you or not.

    Hi Shane,
Please download Acrobat X Pro from the link below.
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/other-downloads.html
Install the software and when prompted for the previous version qualifying product, select Acrobat 9 and enter the serial key of Acrobat 9.
This should install and activate Acrobat X Pro on the machine.

I purchased Acrobat XI pro upgrade yesterday, was able to install, deactivate Acrobat X pro.  Now however, it is rejecting the serial number for Acrobat X pro and I can't use the program.  Please help!!

    Hi Stajascha1,
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Can you please provide the exact message on the screen while you are trying to enter the serial number.
If that is possible can you attach the screen shot of the error message. Make sure the serial number is not visible in screen shot.

  • Will an Adobe Acrobat XI Pro Upgrade license work to upgrade an Adobe Acrobat XI Standard installation?

The buying guide for the XI Pro Upgrade (here - Buying guide | Adobe Acrobat XI Pro) does not list Adobe XI Standard in the left hand column... but I currently have XI Standard and want to to go XI Pro, will this work?

    Hi Mike ,
There is no such policy to upgrade license from Acrobat XI Standard to Acrobat XI Pro.
If you have the subscription for the Standard version ,you need to get that cancelled and get a new subscription for Acrobat Pro.
If you have the retail version or if you have purchased the software ,you can return that and get a new retail version for Acrobat XI Pro.
For more information ,please contact the technical support.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro update download problems

Note: I recently hooked up a Samsung 830 128GB SSD to an old Dell Optiplex GX280. The OS is Win XP Pro. I've had issues running the Windows and Microsoft Update manually and had to resort to just using auto-updates (which for some reason works without problem).
I am unable to get updates for Acrobat from both the "Check for Updates" in Acrobat Pro and from the site. Pro's update option is just trying to download the updater. As for the site, it's from downloading any update from the download section for Acrobat.
In both cases, the download stalls itself at around 80-99.9% complete. I had no issues installing Acrobat 9 Pro. I noticed that before stalling, the download rate drastically drops before locking itself. So it might have been downloading at 900KB, when it hits around the 80% mark it'll drop to around 300KB and quickly drop further. It usually locks itself at 100-200KB/sec. Mind you, the download window or browser are not frozen. I can still interact with them without issues (I can download other things, browse pages, and cancel that locked download). The in-program updater might stall itself after I click cancel, but it usually functions properly by showing that window with options to take in canceling.
The one that stands out the most is the fact I can't download the updates manually. I've tried Firefox and Chrome, and both result in the same problem. I've also tried this with several update files. Oddly enough, it's only the update files that have this problem. I've successfully downloaded other files from Adobe like Flash and Reader X installer (which also downloaded and installed fine). The downloads I've done from other sites, like Malwarebytes, all downloaded and updated fine.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm assuming it has a tie-in with my Windows/Microsoft Update problem. Thanks in advance.

Hi Bill, thanks for the reply. That page is actually what I was referring to by being unable to get updates from the site. I tried it again, following your link (just in case), and the problem still occurs. I'm looking at it right now and typing as I go (so things are being typed in as I see them), 88% of 1 file, dl rate of ~900KB/sec before that 88% and dropped to ~150KB/sec for maybe 30sec. It swiftly dropped further and is now 90% and "downloading" at 72.8KB/sec. I say downloading but it's actually just idling itself, as it did when it hit 88%. About 2-3min later, it is still at 90% and is stuck at 59.0KB/sec dl rate.
If this is similar to the others, it will eventually stall itself indefinitely. In the case of the previously mentioned attempts, several hours go by with no progress. The Windows/Microsoft Update problem, I left it running for about 6hrs with no progress at all.
Any advice on what to do would be much appreciated.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - Serial Number Problem - 3 Separate Licenses

I own 3 separate licenses of Acrobat 9 Pro and have owned several licenses going clear back to Acrobat 6.  We have used them on the office computers and home or laptop just as the license authorizes.
Recently we had a problem of employees getting confused as to which license or Serial Number of 9 Pro was installed on which machine and apparently the number of authorized installs was exceeded.   The solution to that was to go around and try to determine which SN was installed on which computer.
With all prior versions, this was an easy task.  You simply clicked on the Help tab and selected the About option and it gave you a screen that showed the SN of the license installed on that computer.   That way you could keep straight which was installed on which, and you could that way monitor employees so that the authorized number of installs were not exceeded and that deactivation had been done properly.  We had a new computer we needed to install 9 Pro on but we needed to know the SN on the old machine in order to make sure we had the deactivation done properly.
I was taken by surprise to discover that this method of determining the installed SN would not work on 9 Pro.  The "About" screen showed no SN. It showed patent information and credits, but no SN.  I checked this on all three licenses and it was the same on each one.
I called Tech Support and got into the support problem from Hell over what should be a simple issue.  I went through 4 separate techies and 5 different calls. After spending most of the day dealing with this issue, and a substantial loss of revenue.  I was given completely wrong information by 3 of the techies (called lies in my culture) and the 4th one claimed there was no possible way to determine the SN of the license running on any individual computer under 9 Pro.
I then called the sales department for volume licensing and was told that if I bought 3 licenses under the volume license program, I could have one serial number and get rid of the 3 SN problem.  I was told that I could get a refund on my 3 separate licenses and this would fix my problem.  I stated 3 times that I would buy the volume licenses only if I was guaranteed a refund for the 3 separate licenses.  Each time I was assured that would occur.  After the new sale for the volume licenses was completed, I was transferred to another department for the refunds and the refund request was refused!!!!   It took the rest of that day and part of the next to get a response back from the sales person that sold me the volume licenses and get that transaction cancelled.  They still charged my credit card and then it took several more days to get that reversed.  On top of all of that, Adobe keeps attempting to close my support incident claiming it is resolved when it most certainly is not.
I have been computing for over 20 years and I would have to say this was the worst tech support treatment I have ever experienced.  I am simply amazed and disgusted.  As a user of Acrobat over many years,  I am so mad that if 10 users wanted to file a class action suit against Adobe, I might do it for nothing.
Can anyone tell me if there is any way to determine the SN of the license of 9 Pro that is running on a computer?  If not, how else can you keep straight which install is on which computer and which needs to be deactivated when you replace the computer or try to move it to another?
This would seem to me to be a huge problem and I am extremely surprised that Adobe seems to simply be ignoring it and that the tech support people are telling fibs.
Any information would be most appreciated.

Sorry that you got such a hassle. Try this. I don't have Acrobat 9 per se, but I have the TCS2 and found the following.
Run Regedit (all the serious warning apply here. Look but don't touch).
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHNINE->SOFTWARE->Adobe->Repair->Adobe Acrobat->9.0->IOD Look under the entry under SERIAL.
Maybe it works maybe it doesn't. But it might help.

  • Acrobat 8 Pro Upgrade

If I get an upgrade for my version 8 Acrobat Pro, does it confirm the original version from my installed licensed version or do I need my original CD?

You don't need your original disk at all. Just your version 8 serial number.
If you install Acrobat XI upgrade on a computer with v.8 already installed then v.8 should be detected by the XI installer.
If you install Acrobat XI upgrade on a computer with no Adobe software installed then the installer will ask for the serial number of an earlier qualifying version. You enter your v.8 serial number and the XI upgrade installation will continue.

So I tried to reinstall but each time I got the Error Code 6. For further Solution i tried this: Deleting all Acrobat Plug Ins, Deinstalling Acrobat, Running my mac in safer modus, Running the CS6 installation from HD ... Nothing changed. What to do now?
    Thank You, Frank

    Hi freifrank,
Please use the Cleaner tool ( Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 ) to remove the software completely from the machine.
Reinstall the software and then check.
