Acrobat X Redlining

HELP.
I am using Acrobat X.  I work in a Legal Department and one of the key features we use is redlining.  I am not sure whether I am not doing it correctly or not but it appears as though the redlining did a "back peddle" from the previous version.  Everything seems cumbersome and not easily viewed.
After viewing the redlines that I make will usually need to become a permanent fixture of the document and I cannot seem to make it 1) estetically pleasing; and 2) able to input the items I need changed.  (A document I created told me that I did not have the authority to add text ...
Again ... HELP!!

Since it says you can't change, there is a good chance it has security set or is a PDF/A document. The PDF/A usually gives you a message when you try to change. You can check for security by checking the document properties (ctrl-D in Acrobat for Windows).

  • Keeping redline text "red" when Scanning file in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro?

The document is a word document that has several "red" color text and "red" color strikethrough words to show that a particular word is being edited/deleted.  The problem/question I have is that the "red" color in the document, when scanned, does not come out "red?"  The color is dark blue/black?  However, if there are other colors in the word document, these colors come out OK?  Not sure why "only" red strikethroughs or text "colored" red in same document does not come out in "red?"  The following info is sent:  I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro; the reader is Adobe Reader X; and the print/scanner is HP OfficeJet Pro 8600.  Any answers/help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Dear user,
You are getting such output because you have checked ON the setting 'Print to file' in one of your previous prints. For resolving this issue, kindly uncheck option 'Print to file' present in bottom left corner of print dialog and then click on 'Print' (See attached image for reference).
Hope this will solve your problem.

  • ECL Viewer Redlining does not work in cFolders for PDF

    Hi,
I am using cFolders 4.5 with ECL viewer 6.0 patch level 4. Redlining functionality works for AutoCAD and graphics files such as JPG. However, when I try to use the redlining functionality on a PDF I get the message "This feature is currently not supported. Please contact your cFolders system administrator. The ECL viewer will shut down".
Any ideas on why this is happening. Is there anything specific I need to do to enable redlining for PDF files on cFolders.
    Thanks,

    Hi Lashan,
This can be only realized in form of a modification.
To get the functionality, you have to change the code of BSP page

  • Is there a way to freehand comments in Acrobat?

I would like to be able to take a hand held electronic pen and markup an acrobat file using the Pencil tool in Acrobat. Does anyone know of a way to do this? In my experience, the existing commenting tools in Acrobat are not good for quickly marking up a plan sheet or a map in PDF format.

    Todd,
One of my old rigs had a Wacom pressure sensitive tablet. A basic function of the pen was cursor control, so I was able to use the pencil tool with it to redline drawings. These days, I am content to use the comment and mark up tools and a plain old mouse in Acrobat 8 Pro. The price has come down on the smaller tablets through the years, so you may want to look into mfr. Wacom. I see the Bamboo is running around $70.

  • Compare PDFs in Acrobat 7 Standard?

Can anyone help, I usually use a Mac and using Acrobat Professional. I can compare different versions of a PDF easily using the Advanced Compare Documents tool. Does anyone know if there's a way of doing this effectively in Acrobat 7 Standard and where the options would be on the PC version.
    Many thanks

This happens on Acrobat 8 Pro on Windows XP too - the text only compare in side by side mode correctly traps the redline differences but highlights non-changed text in a very strange fashion.
It appears to be a bug to me as when you open the comments list and click on the highlight it appears as with a type of 'Indeterminate' and the annotation 'Matching text on page 1 of other document'. When I click on the comment I get an Acrobat error dialog box with the text:
'There was an error processing an annotation or link. There was a problem reading this document (14).'
And I can't seem to delete the comments (presumably as Acrobat is failing to read the comments).
Very irritating. Worse, Acrobat 9 (Mac) has no way to preconfigure the compare so a 2.3MB compare in v8 is now 13+MB in v9 and every table edge (in a 150pp doc) is highlighted as different. Otherwise the v9 compare appears very good for on screen in v9 except it doesn't degrade very well to v8 and there is no side-by-side redline mode I can see.
Will be running v8 for a while yet.

  • Redlining Software

    Hello All,
I wanted to know if any 3rd party redlining tools could be used for markups and redlining features. I know SAP provides some basic features through the EAI/ECL viewer.
    Pleas advice.
    Thanks!

    Bill,
Thanks for the solution. I was trying on the same lines with Adobe Acrobat. Can you please mention here what all components of Adobe is required  to make this work? Can it work on the portal (for external customer) and on the sap GUI side (Internal users). Is this a server liscense?

  • Filename in XFDF - Acrobat 9?

While submitting the PDF form field data, do we have to manually add the 'f href' element in the XFDF when running on Acrobat 9? Or, is it the acrobat javascript method 'submitForm' which generates the XFDF with field names and 'f href' ?
Please let me know asap. In my project, its observed that 'f href' element (i.e. filename) is missing in the XFDF retrieved in Acrobat 9.
    Thanks.

Just revisiting on this topic and hoping for some assistance.
We are currently generating .xfdf xml form files and they are using <f href=filename.pdf>
This works fine when superimposing the data in the form onto PDF's using Adobe Reader 8 and lower but with version 9, when the client opens the .xfdf file the .pdf file for the form does not load for the aforementioned reason in the previous posts and therefore the user cannot view the document with the XML data superimposed on the PDF.
I would prefer not to have to roll users back to Adobe Reader version 8 to make these forms work so I was wondering, can the code eg. <f href=filename.pdf> be changed to be compatible with Adobe Reader 9 as well as backwards compatible with versions 8 and lower and so forth. If this can be done, how does the link need to be coded?
    Thanks in advance

  • How do you deploy adobe acrobat xi from creative cloud for enterprise?

    Hello,
We purchased Creative Cloud Enterprise and our new supervisor wants adobe acrobat on all computers.  I downloaded the package through Creative Cloud and used the customization wizard to customize the msi in the exceptions folder just like the instructions said.  I followed the steps and deployed it out using Dell Kace.  When a user tries to open Acrobat, it tells them they have a trial version and they must register the product.  The instructions for the customization wizard said not to put the creative cloud serial number into the customization tool.  Is there something I'm missing with deploying adobe acrobat and creative cloud?
    Thanks,
    Michael

I'm not a CC expert, but I think normally admins configure Acrobat and then deploy everything via the Creative Cloud Packager. Acrobat certainly needs to be licensed, so when you only have a CC license, it's best to deploy in a standard way so that Acrobat get serialized with the license you have.

  • Acrobat XI very sluggish on Yoga 3 Pro

I have noticed that Adobe Acrobat XI is very sluggish on the Yoga 3 Pro. Specifically laggy when zooming in and out, panning, scrolling, and full screen. This is especially apparent with full screen and quite annoying in tablet mode. However, using the Microsoft Reader app with the same PDF files does NOT experience this lag.
What I then discovered is that this has something to do with the Core M processor and it getting its power limited. If you change the power plan in OneKey Optimizer to High Performance (from Balanced, for example), Acrobat all of a sudden becomes quite snappy.
When in tablet mode, if you simply want to read a PDF file (and use Acrobat), you do not need "high performance", so to extend the unfortunately bad battery life of the Yoga 3 Pro, you would want to put it in Balanced or Power Saver -- this should still be sufficient to read PDF files, but it is not the case with Acrobat XI unfortunately.
I'm not sure which specific CPU limiting feature of the power plan is causing this issue in Acrobat, but I thought I would post this because I couldn't find anything on the internet on this issue.

  • I am trying to create a form in acrobat pro 8 and it can't be filled in in reader 9

When I open the form in reader, it says it is a pdf/a file.and the form fields do not show up unless I go to edit/preferences in reader and tell it to never view documents in pfd/a mode.  I am putting this document on my website for users to fill out, and don't want them to have to do that.  How do I create the form that is not a pdf/a document?  I have been messing around with this for a day and have not been successfull.  I have an old document from last year that apparently is not a pdf/a document and it works fine.  I cannot make this year's document open correctly in reader 9.  http://www.houseofsweden.us/docs/DecNightsSignUps2009.pdf  This is a very simple form created from a word document.

When originally creating the pdf, you would need to choose another pdf conversion setting. In Word if you use the pdf menu, change your settings there: Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings. I would use High Quality Print instead. If you use the File > Print method, click the Properties button next to the Adobe PDF printer selection.
For your already created form, you can change the file so your users will not encounter issues. In Acrobat 9, which hopefully is similar in process to 8: Advanced > Preflight > Profile tab > PDF/A compliance > Remove PDF/A information.(You'll have to unsecure your form first).
You can read about PDF/A files in the Help.

  • Preserving PDF links and actions created in Acrobat after editing in Illustrator

I created an interactive PDF in Acrobat from an Illustrator file saved as a PDF.  It's basically an interactive prototype that simulates dropdown menus, highlighted selections and navigation between screens.  Using the Link Tool, I set layers to appear through the layer visibility action, and certain layers to toggle through javascript.  Since the prototype is evolving, however, I have to periodically make minor edits to it in Illustrator.  Once I make an edit and save the PDF again, when I open up the saved document in Acrobat, all the link tool actions are gone.  This is highly frustrating because most of the edits take just a minute or two in Illustrator, but I have to re-create all the links in Acrobat when I'm done, which takes a very long time.  How can I make minor edits in Illustrator while preserving the action elements I created in Acrobat?

Well, that's a bummer.  It's so close to a feasible workflow for generating quick early-stage prototypes that you can continue to work on.
    Thanks for the info.

I've installed Adobe DC Pro on one of our user's computers. When it asked for an Adobe ID I entered the ID I used to purchase the serial number.
