Acrobat X Standard does not find scanners

Windows 8 64bit
Neat Desk Scanner
HP Officejet Pro 8500A
Acobe Acrobat X Standard
Version 10.1.5
I have installed and reinstalled X many times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the scanners several times. Windows indicates the scanners are present but X does not see them. I have downloaded other scanning programs and none of them see the scanners either.
Windows support says it's an Adobe problem. Adobe says it's a Windows problem. I just need the program to work. Acrobat opens and runs fine except for not seeing any scanners on the system.
I need help on this. Anyone?

Thank you, I will contact them again. However, I also have a NeatDesk
scanner which no program, except the Neat proprietary software, can see. I
believe its the Twain and/or wia drivers that are either missing or are
corrupt. Microsoft says the developers (Adobe, and others) have not
developed Windows 8 drivers, but that sounds a bit far-fetched to me. It's
not like 8 has only been out for a few days, and when I contact the
developers they all state their drivers work fine.I can do what I need to
do part way with Neat (scan documents into PDF format) but can't append new
documents to existing ones. I need that feature to be able to keep certain
groups of documents into single files. Now I have to scan docs into single
PDF files in Neat and then use Acrobat to combine them. Very cumbersome and
time consuming. Anyway, thanks very much for your help.

What am I missing?  The Adobe Classroom In A Book clearly refers to it...

    Hi,
I am sorry to hear that you're having trouble in locating 'Multimedia' tools in Acrobat.
Acrobat X Standard does not include most of the interactive object tools. You need to use Acrobat X Pro for those features. Kindly check the comparison matrix at:

I have my HP 6280 Printer/Scanner set up as a network device. When I try to scan a document, I get an error message that Adobe does not reconize the requested device. • Adobe Acrobat X Standard does not open PDFs made by previous versions

Adobe Acrobat X Standard keeps giving an error while opening PDFs saying that "this document requires v7 (or v8) or higher to be opened" making it impossible to open any document that was created with earlier versions. After the message the files open blank. I am using Adobe Acrobat X Standard. Any solutions?
    Thank you in advance!

This alert was created by a JavaScript code (as you can see from the title of it), which someone obviously did not write very well.
You should be able to open it if you disable JS (Edit - Preferences - JavaScript), and then you can remove this code completely (if the file is not secured).

  • Acrobat X Standard does not creates hyperlink from Visio 2003 files ?

I am workin in a big company (5000+ employees) and we just migrated from Windows XP to Windows 7 with Office 2010 and from Acrobat Professional to Acrobat X standard
I am still using Visio 2003 (this is not migrated yet to Visio 2010), and I am not able anymore to generate pdf-files from Visio files with Hyperlinks!
For excel files it works fine.
What do we need to do? is there an extra Visio (2003) Add-In module needed for Acrobat X, or do we need to purchase another Acrobat version?
    Please Help!

Should you submit a use/business need to have the company IT group install Acrobat Pro another reference to add to what Bernd provided is at:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html
Scroll down to the information for MS Visio.
You will observe that for Vision 2010 (which you'll most likely be migrated to) you must have the PDFMaker asociated with Acrobat Pro X (for 32-bit only - no support for 64-bit Visio).

I have tried all the suggestion in the forums. But I keep getting the error. I reinstalled AA9 Pro and downloaded the updates. But I keep getting the error.
I recently upgraded to Windows 7.

You have permissions issues on the respective folders, e.g. Windows\System32\Color and so on. Fix them and allow all apps to access the contents.

  • Acrobat X Pro does not install PDF toolbar in Firefox, but does in IE.  How to fix?

Also, I see that Acrobat X Pro does not install all plugins.  There are several that I want shown as not installed.  But how can I get these installed, as there is no button to say "install this"??

Got a partial fix - In Firefox, the Adobe PDF Toolbar gets installed in "Disabled" mode.  To enable, go to "Tools->Add-ons->Extensions", select "Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF" and enable it.
Now, as for the rest of the Acrobat plugins, I'm still trying to find a way to enable them.  Any ideas?

  • Acrobat X Pro does not open, gives fatal error - "Acrobat failed to send a DDE command"

Acrobat X Pro does not open and gives fatal error - "Acrobat failed to send a DDE command"
It either does the above or the application starts and is listed in the system processes but never physically opens on the desktop for viewing.

AA 9 will not work for anything but the print function from WORD 2010. The only version of Acrobat that is compatible with OFFICE 2010 for PDF Maker is AA X. Thus, open WORD and print to the Adobe PDF printer. Then open the pdf in Acrobat. Go to FORMS>Add or Edit fields. Since you have no fields at present, Acrobat will ask if you would like to detect form fields. Answer yes and you will get a first cut at the form fields. Yes, you will likely have to add some more and change the ones that Acrobat estimates, but you are on your way.
The other two options you have is to go back to WORD 2007 or earlier or upgrade to AA X (or find someone with AA X and WORD 2010). These methods are pretty much your options with the software combination that you have.

My new Mac Mini running iLife 08 does not find any VST instruments and also does not show all the midi instruments. Does anyone know why this is?
    Thanks.

Is this a Intel Mac thing only, aka can G5/G4 Macs using GB08 use VSTs?
Ive got some great ones I'd love to use with GB. Seems kind of silly not to support VSTs, a standard for the music industry... ya know?

  • AIO remote does not find my printer

I changed Internet providers a few months ago. I have not been able to print from my iPhone or iPad since then. AIO remote does not find my printer at all.

    Hi,
Both AirPrint and the HP AIO Remote app relies on Multicasting, a such have to be supported and enabled by your router.
Some routers support a such by default, some require settings changes and some do not support Multicasting which required for a such.
Please clarify your router brand and model to better understand any possible steps to try.

  • Iphone and ipad does not find the airprint printer

After I upgraded my iphone and ipad I lost my airprint function. Ipad and Iphone does not find the airprinter. The printer is a HP Photosmart 5520, and it does work wireless with my Windows PC that is on the same nettwork.

In our case the Airprint printers could not be found after IOS upgraded to 7.1.2, all was fine before then.  I have scoured the forums and many people have suffered the same problem.  All the solutions given are aimed at a domestic network with just a Wireless router.  They all involve restarting all the devices and rejoining the IOS devices to the wireless network.  Some people have had to do it multiple times before they regained use of the printers.
In my case none of these work because I am talking about a business network with two wireless access points, several switches and a router.  To prove it is the IPads I have installed Bonjour onto a Windows PC (Bonjour is the technology used by Airprint).  This finds the printers perfectly so it is definitely something that was changed in the version of Bonjour on the IOS 7.1.2 that is causing all the problems.
I was hoping that Apple would release another upgrade to IOS to fix this problem but it has been several weeks so far and nothing has emerged.
So something that worked perfectly a few weeks ago is now dead in the water because of an update on the IPads!!!!!!!!
