Acrobat X Standard: OCR don't work. Program stops. Reinstallation twice wihout success.

Hallo,

I'm scanning for malware now.  The "slow email" was not described well, I meant that the "send" command in acrobat is particularly slow.  My main issues are the sudden lack of OCR capability within Acrobat and the scanner issues.
I'll see what happens with the malware scan and in the meantime any help would me much appreciated.

  • Scanner and OCR don't Work in Acrobat 10.1.7

Up until yesterday, I was able to scan and OCR just fine.  Today I realized that e-mailed pdf's did not OCR, instead, I got an "Unknown Error" on every non searchable pdf I was sent.  I uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted, etc. and now, not only does the OCR not work, but now whenever I scan from my brother MFC scanner that worked fine yesterday, the scanning processing goes on forever with only black pages showing.  For instance, a one page BW scan showed over 10 pages before I exited the process.
    Also, e-mailing is much slower.
Interestingly, my Scansnap works fine for OCR (though I'm sure that isn't using Acrobat) and search of pre-OCR'd docs work fine.  It's just frustrating that suddenly no docs e-mailed or faxed to me electronically can now be OCR'd.
I've tried printing to acrobat to no avail.  I'd hate to have to print and re-scan just for OCR.

  • I purchased Adobe Acrobat 9 standard. It still works on my laptop but not on my desktop. It says Error 1311 source file not found setup files.

I tried the "repair" feature but it does not work. Please help.

    Rave,
Thanks for your response. I purchased my Acrobat 9 standard online. It is still functioning fine on my laptop. It is the desktop I am having issues with.
A while back I downloaded the trial version of Pro. After 30 days, I determined that I didn't want it, so I declined to buy it. Right after that, my install files were gone. I suppose when they uninstalled the trial version they took my original files as well. I see nowhere to download from the Adobe site my replacement original files. What else can I do??

  • WRT610N - intermittent wireless access for all wireless clients; standard fixes don't work

My network had been working fine for over a year, and now I'm getting intermittent wireless access.  Everything will be ok for a day or two, and then all of a sudden nothing wireless will work (the wired computer will still work): 1 Vista desktop, 1 vista laptop, 1 XP laptop, wireless printer, and iPod touches.
Vista computers will either say "the network has denied the association request" or the "network key is incorrect" (it isn't).  On XP computers, I can get to the point where the computer is trying to acquire an IP address, but it just times out.
    So far:
    - Made sure signal strength is good (most have full bars)
    - Upgraded firmware (worked for 2 days)
    - Made sure all drivers were up to date
    - Changed the broadcast channel (most recent fix, everything worked for 2 days)
I've never had default configurations; my SSID was enabled and set up from the beginning.  I recently moved from WEP to WPA because a new Vista laptop refused to work with WEP.  The clients do not pick up any other network signals from neighbors.
A router reboot sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.  Like everything else I've done, if it works, if it's for a day or so.
Everything worked for a year until about 2 weeks ago (a week after I switched from WEP to WPA - coincidence?).

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since your last firmware upgrade, please do this now and see if it corrects your problem.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
To reset the router press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

    Adjust it's Wireless Settings -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
     Click on the Wireless tab
    2.4GHz Wireless Settings -
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...
Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...
    XP :
Click on Start and goto the Control Panel and double click on Network Connections, right click on Wireless Network Connection and click on Properties.
Now on this window, click on the second tab Wireless Network and give a check mark on "Use windows to configure my wireless" and then remove all the network names present in the Preferred Networks Window. Then click on OK...
Right click on the Wireless Network Connection again and click on View Available Wireless Networks and try to re-connect to your network...
Now it will give you the opportunity to put the network/wep key, make sure you enter the correct network key and confirm it...
    It will connect...
    Vista :
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Network and Sharing Center >> Manage Wireless Networks, here remove all the networks present and close the Window...
Click on Connect to a Network and try to re-connect to your Network, it should ask for your Network Key/Password, enter the correct password/network key and click Connect...
It should connect...Once you are connected you should restart the computer, it should connect to Internet...

  • Acrobat Pro X - Hyperlinks don't work

We upgraded to Acrobat Pro X.  When converting a Visio document to Acrobat, the hyperlinks quit working.  These are Arrows that are used to move forward and backward between the multiple pages in the document.  Not linking to an external source.  These worked in Adobe 8.

I can confirm that behavior in Acrobat 9 Pro (and in Acrobat X Pro as well!). I unchecked all the options in the Optimize dialog except for changing Images (unchecking all the options to discard various kind of data). It should not remove hyperlinks but it does. I've never notice (or heard about that) before.
I would tweak your PDF settings in QuarkXPress to reduce file size (or downsample images ahead of time if Quark is not capable of doing that).

  • Ran Belarc on a computer, reimaged it, now Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard isn't working with the key from Belarc. Any ideas?

Ran Belarc on two older computers and reimaged them or a client. After setting them up and finding an Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard disk I put the program back on both machines, however when I put in the serial number (which was the same for both machines according to Belarc) Acrobat said that the serial numbers were incorrect. Unsure of what the issue is here. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi behind7proxies,
Please make sure you are using the right serial number for the right installer.
Acrobat 9 Std serial key will not work for Acrobat 9 Pro software.
You might want to refer to the KB : http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-invalid-serial-number-acrobat.html

  • Acrobat Standard 6 won't work with OSX Lion

I just downloaded OSX Lion and my Acrobat Standard 6 no longer works.  What to do now?  I hadn't upgraded along the way, so how can I know get an application to create pdf files on my Mac?

Acrobat 6 Standard or deluxe are PowerPC Programs. They've been runing in an emulation mode called Rosetta since OSX.6  OSX.7 Lion is pure Intel only. and Rosetta has been discontinued.
If you need PowerPC applications You are either going to have to revert back to Snow Leopard. Or buy you an external Drive install OSX 6 or lower on it and run your PowerPC apps from there.
You may discover many of the applications you depend upon if you haven't kept them upgraded have quit work as well. You can do about the same thing with standard in The Mac Directly. Standard didn't have Forms capability.
Just go to Print Menu click on PDF and choose desired PDF.  I would suggest though If you seriously want to have PDF and Forms Capability to Upgrade to AcrobatX. There is so much more you can do with PDF's than with 6 Standard.

  • Why this program don't work without the "stop"?

can you tell me why this program don't work without "stop"?and why the "stop" of my program can not work?

Crossrulz, sometimes you can snip the URL of the image:
    http://forums.ni.com/ni/attachments/ni/170/823066/1/
The stop button is checked once in every iteration of the while loop, which includes waiting for the for loop to complete its 9 iteration.
The for loop takes 9 seconds to complete because of the time delay, therefore clicking the stop button can take upto 18 seconds, depending on whether the button has been read yet.
Turn on the highlight execution )light bulb icon) to see what is happening in your code

  • Help! Acrobat X Standard won't start

I have standalone Acrobat X Standard. It was working fine but now will not start. When I try to open the program, the wait icon is shown momentarily and then disappears. Acrobat shows as running in Task Manager, but nothing appears. I have reinstalled the program but the same problem occurs. I am running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I have searched the forum and don't see this problem referred to except in respect of bundles (which I don't have).

    Hey canadianlawyer,
Please log in as administrator and disable anti-virus programs (if any) running on your computer as that might be interrupting.
If you still face the problem, then try running the cleaner tool to remove all traces of the software:
Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
Now, download and install Acrobat X again from the below mentioned link:
Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | DC, XI, X
Let me know how it goes.

  • The "File Edit View Window Help" menu disappears after opening Adobe Acrobat X Standard

After installing Adobe Acrobat X Standard, when I run the program the "File Edit View Window Help" menu is visible for only a brief second then disappears.  I tried to press F11 or other functions keys to bring it back.  I also installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro which I also have a license for and it would do the exact same thing. Reinstalling the programs did not seem to resolve the problem.  Is there an issue inside the registry?

Thank you for your comment.  However, F9 does not seem to work.
When I press F9, the menu bar appears but the words "File Edit View Window Help" are still missing.
When I press F9 again the menu bar will close.
This is a screen capture before the words "File Edit View Window Help" disappear.  After only about a second they are gone.

  • Upgrade from Acrobat Standard 7 to Acrobat X Standard

I have two Acrobat installation disks: Acrobat 6 and Acrobat 7 standard (the latter an upgrade) with serial numbers.
These were originally installed on an XP Pro machine, but now I need to transfer to Windows 7 (Professional, 64-bit).
I'm having trouble discovering with certainty whether the Acrobat X Standard editon upgrade will 'work'. It would appear that I would need to install 6, then 7 and then the X upgrade.
Can anyone kindly tell me whether I'm likely to encounter problems with this process?

You don't need to install previous versions when installing an upgrade
version. You do need to have the serial number of the  full-qualified
earlier product (and possibly those of any upgrades in between). If you
have those, it shouldn't be a problem.

  • Acrobat 9 Standard missing paper sizes.

I recently had Acrobat 9 Standard installed on my work computer.  Previously I had CS4 with Acrobat Pro installed but had to transfer the license to a coworker.  I'm now frustrated because all of the page sizes that I typically use are gone.  All fo the Arch and Ansi sizes are missing.  In the print preferences dialog I tried to add a new page size called Arch E1 and I got an error saying "Not allowed to modify system or printer defined paper size (Arch E1).  Only user defined paper size can be modified or deleted."  Apparently acrobat knows that Arch E1 is a standard paper size but its not available in the paper size selection menu.  I can go through and make a bunch of new custom paper sizes and give them alternate names but that's a little bit frustrating to have to go through and set up my own paper sizes when Acrobat already knows they exist.  I guess my question is how do I get Acrobat 9 Standard to show the Arch and Ansi paper sizes?

Unfortunately, this is only available when using the Pro. version of Acrobat.

  • Table of contents links that work in Professional don't work in Reader

I use Adobe Acrobat Professional Version 8.2.2 to create PDF
documents from Microsoft Word 2007 files. The main table of contnets, as well as mini-ToCs at
the beginning of each chapter, are linked to the section headi
    ngs.
I've just discovered that the links no longer work when the documents are are opened in Reader Version 9.3.2.
    Can you suggest a solution?

The topics and page numbers in the table of contents of a document are linked to the referenced headings. The links work when I test them with Acrobat Professional.
In Acrobat reader the links don't work.

  • Microsoft Access report to pdf-hyperlinks don't work

    Hi,
Does anyone have a solution to hyperlinks not working when a Microsoft Access report is converted to a pdf?  The hyperlinks work when I am in the Access report, but once I convert to a pdf (Acrobat 9), the links don' t work.
    Thanks,
    Jamie

How did you convert? In looking at the PDF Maker options for AA8 in ACCESS 2007, there does not seem to be a link button in the preferences. That may the issue and I do not have a solution for that.

  • Acrobat 8 standard version --- help please

I have a full version of Acrobat 8 standard.  It was working properly.  I had to uninstall it and reinstall it and now it will not convert a web page or a word doc or any document to a pdf file.  It will let me view a document in adobe and separate it but not to convert one.  Any suggestions?

    Hey luk1515,
I am sorry, but Acrobat 8 is a very old version and Adobe no more provides the download link for Acrobat 8 standard.
