Then try opening File.

AE wont load because it says it is missing font(verdana italic)  writing this in verdana italic..why cant AE cs6 find it?

Could be a permission problem on your system. Try running as admin. Could also be an issue with anotehr, unrelated "bad" font messing up things. Remove it then.

  • Acrobat X Standard problem

One of my users is expereincing
    an issue.
What she is doing is editing a PDF, changing a serial number on it and saving it.
Now she uses the same window to make multiple changes and each file saved is saved under a different name.
Since upgrading to Acrobat X Standard from Acrobat 8 Standard the issue she is having is that once she changes and saves the file the first time(using save as), when she goes to save it again under a different name after making changes Acrobat crashes.
She is running Windows XP Pro service pack 3, Adobe Standard X patched to version 10.1.0
I have tried searching the net to see if anyone else is haveing this issue with no sucess, so I'm hoping that someone here has seen this.

Step one in diagnostics is to print to the Adobe PDF printer. If that does not work, then try printing to file and opening the file in Distiller. This second step gets around AcroTray that must be working for the first step. Also, if the problem is in Distiller you should see the errors in Distiller.
If the above steps work, then try to use the create PDF menu selection (PDF Maker), available in most MS OFFICE products with Acrobat. If there is no icon, that is likely your problem. If these options do not lead you to a solution, the come back and be specific about how you tried to create the PDF. There are many ways and your message gave no information. We need the details, or we are just guessing. Also, what OS?

  • Substituting Fonts in Acrobat 9 Standard

I should start by pinting out that I am not a graphic artist, computer "geek" or polymath.  I am a electrical technician who uses Acrobat to edit text in .pdfs sent from other companies and to convert Word documents and spreadsheets to .pdfs.  So please be gentle with your responses!
Until I was forcibly upgraded to Win7-64 I happily used Acrobat 7.  Finding that this no longer worked I upgraded to Acrobat 9 Standard.  Ever since I have had a problem with font substitution.  Whenever I try to edit a .pdf (either one I have received or one I created using Acrobat 9) and save the result I get the message that it is "Substituting Font".  The resulting document has numerous gaps which are difficult and time-consuming to correct.  I could almost understand this with documents created on someone else's computer but why does it happen with documents that I have created?
What can I do to avoid this? (I have 85 documents in which I have to change one character - with the substitution it is taking 15 mins to do each one!)

I am not 100% sure about updated AA9 and the 64-bit version and so it may do the job. There have typically be problems with the initial releases for 64-bit operation and it may be the updates do the job. I think there is a knowledge base article that deals with this type of compatibility.
When you create a PDF, you can embed the fonts you use. That is done by the selections in the job settings file. As long as you use something beyond the Smallest File Size (does not embed any fonts), you will likely have the fonts embedded as subsets. It is easy to check the properties of the job settings files under the settings tab of the printer properties (or the Advanced settings in the Acrobat Preferences in WORD). Subset fonts are often a problem for editing, unless you have the font on your machine. You could try turning the subset option off to see if that helps on your own files.
For those coming in (and your own) you can check the font embedded with ctrl-D (document properties) and selecting the font tab. Embedded and subset fonts should have those statements on each appropriate font. If the statements are not there, then they are not embedded or subset (and yes they have to be embedded to be subset). If the fonts are not embedded, there is an option under preflight to embed fonts.
In any case, my experience with editing text in Acrobat is it is a lot of work to get things to look nice. A lot of the formatting seems to get messed up easily. If at all possible, it is always better to edit the original document and simply create a new PDF. That may not be an immediate option for you, but if there is a way to move toward that model in the future it would save you many headaches. You might simply check the companies to see if they will send you the originals to process, not the PDF.

  • Adobe X PDF files converted to jpg, edited and converted back to PDF have ragged, unclear text.  I didn't have this problem with Acrobat 9 standard.  What is the remedy for this.  If this is the best I can expect, I won't be able to use X standard.

I can't imagine any worse workflow than converting to JPEG to edit text, then back to PDF. Text in a PDF is a vector thing, smooth at all resolutions. And JPEG is made for photos. EVERY conversion to JPEG and back loses quality but how much loss there is will vary.
If you must go to an image format, try PNG.

  • Problem with the product activation adobe acrobat 9 standard.

I have a problem with the product activation adobe acrobat 9 standard.
It is a failed hard disk to the pc and was not able to deactivate the license adobe.
Now I replaced the hard drive and reinstalled the software but it tells me that all licenses are used.
Is it possible to unlock the licenses in use?
    Thank you.

Adobe can unlock licenses, this is a normal thing for them to do. You must contact them directly, there is no trick or other way.

My Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard stopped working after I performed an msconfig. I get the following message: "You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling this product..." I installed this on Jan. 7, 2010 and I have since misplaced the disk.
How do I fix the problem?

    Hi Ali,
You can download Acrobat 9 Std. from: https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/8d640488-4a92-4f7d-b50b-d8eb7f96bff8
    and reinstall the software.

  • Problem with Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard.

I have been creating .pdf files by selecting the print command and then selecting Adobe PDF as the printer. Once this request was OK'ed, a pop-up window would open and request that I save the file. I would then name the file and select a file folder to save it to. The application would then save the file with the .pdf file extension and open the file on my desk top as a pdf file for my review.
Currently (and following an upgrade in Adobe Reader), when I go through this process and I name and save the file, the file does not open on my desk top, and when I look for the file in the folder that I saved it to, I find the file name in the folder with a .log file extension.  When I open the file, I see
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: setdistillerparams; ErrorInfo: CalCMYKProfile U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
Error accessing color profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
How do I correct this?  I can re-install Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard, but I'm not sure this will resolve the problem?
    THANKS!
    Gerry

This is an error produced by Distiller in the creation process. You have a problem with the color profile in your job settings apparently - I can't really say much more on why this happened if you have not made changes. It is possible that the Reader installation caused a problem, but I would be surprised since Reader has nothing to do with PDF creation (however, it is not recommended to install both Reader and Acrobat due to various interactions). At this point, all I can recommend is to do a repair to Acrobat. You should be able to do this from the control panel>program and features (VISTA) or add/remove programs (XP).

  • Big problems with Acrobat 9 Standard

When scanning from my HP 6500 in Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard, it will scan all of the pages, then the Adobe screen locks up and I must control/alt/delete to end task. I have tried reloading the disc and done repair and it still won't work. I have install it on 2 laptops and both are acting the same way. I can scan using my HP Center, but why do I need #9 Standard? My friend has Adobe #8 and it works just fine. #9 for $300+ is a joke.

Acrobat doesn't do any scanning. The problem lies with your scanning software. It may have worked with version 8, but for some reason it doesn't work with version 9. See if there is a new twain driver for your scanner. The preferred method of scanning is to scan in your scanner's application, save as tiff and import the tiff. However, I do understand the attraction of scanning directly to Acrobat.

  • Print problem (Acrobat 7 Standard, Acrobat 8 Professional)

I have Acrobat 7 Standard Croatian. When we print any pdf document, we get strange characters (image: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd238/JelenaSi/print_error.gif ). I tried to reinstall, clean everything, print on 3 different printers and the same thing happens. Also, I tried to print files with Acrobat 8 Professional, Reader 7 and 8(2 days I'm installing and reinstalling that computer!)and all of that programs print something strange. All other computers in our company works just fine...
Is there any solution for this? Regional and language settings are set to croatian.
I don't want to reinstall windows(XP SP2) because of some complicated ebank installations...
    Thanks in advance.

Be sure to embed the fonts. I am not quite sure of the features using other languages, but embedding fonts is the first step usually.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard setup problem

I am not sure this is the right forum for my problem: if it isn't, can anybody please point me to the right forum (or channel) to troubleshoot and solve my problem?
I attempted to install Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard (Italian) on several Windows XP clients, but I get a message saying "Impossibile accedere al percorso di rete \Startup" that sounds like "Impossible to access the network path \Startup".
I made several tests and I can confirm that:
    - The Office installation path exists in the registry and is correct
    - The user attempting to install have administrator rights
    - The folder \Startup exists inside the Office installation path and the user can access it
    - No roaming profiles are implemented
How can I troubleshoot and solve this issue?
