Acrobat X Standard will close automatically 5 seconds after launch.
Configuration: Windows 7 Pro SP1
Already tested without success:
- Uninstalling Acrobat Reader and Acrobat X Standard
- Installation of Acrobat X Standard

I recently re-installed Acrobat XI Pro and when I now open a pdf files it closes automatically after a few seconds - any one knows why and how to solve this problem?

You may have to reinstall or do a repair, one of the two. I would start with the repair from the help menu. Then do the updates also in the help menu. See if that fixes the issue. If not, you may have to reinstall. If you reinstall, use http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html and then remove any left over parts of the Acrobat folder, reboot, and reinstall. Then do the updates.

Alert "Power sub-system degraded or failed" won't close automatically after power restores

we have SCOM R2 and HP server in use.
we installed HP server MP.
each server has two power suppliers, one to UPS, one to Commercial power.
but there is always Commercial power outage, after which alert "Power sub-system degraded or failed" will arise.
when power restores, this alert won't close automatically.
Below please find alert properties,
there is no "Aoto-resolve" attribute, I suppose this is the reason why this alert won't close automatically after power restores.
but I want this alert to be closed automatically by SCOM after power restores, could anyone help me?

It looks like this particular alert is generated by a rule, and that rule simply generates an alert whenever certain events are detected in the event log. A rule that alerts on the creation of an event does not have the ability to close based on the
detection of a second event.
If this is the behavior you are looking for you would be best to create your own monitor as opposed to this rule, as you can create a custom monitor that alerts on one event or events and closes when another event or events are logged indicating things are
healthy again.
Once you have your custom monitor setup, you would then want to disable this rule that was built into the hp management pack. You can also look to see if the hp mp has any contact info that you can reach out to and ask for this feature to be included
in the next update of the mp, but for now i think your best option is to create a custom monitor that alerts on one event and closes on another.

Apps will close automaticly

i think i found a kind of bug.
After syncing my iPod touch 2G with my iTunes 8(which is connected with my Apple-ID) all the Apps from the appstore will not work correct.
They show up when i open them and after 2 Secons they will close automaticly.
The standart Apple-Apps work fine.
My solution:
Go to Appstore with the ipod and install any software, so that you must type in your Apple-Id and password. After this all will work again, until the next sync.
This works fine, but it's really enoying for me to do that every time.
Any other solution?

[solved] xterm closes automatically after 6s

I'm having a really weird problem: xterm closes automatically after 6s of execution time, no matter what I run inside or whether I do anything in it at all.
No error in the logs or in .xsession-errors, return value is zero. The window just closes and anything running inside is aborted:
[alex@thor ~]$ time xterm
real 0m6.337s
user 0m0.030s
sys 0m0.000s
System is up-to-date arch64, awesome as desktop environment.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the hint: funny thing is I was indeed going to try cairo-xcompmgr, but the issue iccured before that
I traced it down to a script that was supposed to kill a specific xterm instance and instead killed all. So all my fault, thanks for the answer ^^

Acrobat X Pro closes unexpectedly after launch?

I'm using Acrobat X Pro 10.1.12 (CS 5.5) on a MacBook Pro, running Yosemite V10.10. After launching Acrobat, it remains open for 10 seconds then just closes. I don't even get a crash window. Help!

Acrobat 8 Standard will not apply transform file during installation

I also posted this in the Acrobat form before I noticed this Enterprise Installation forum.
I am using the Adobe 8 customization wizard to create an MST file for Acrobat 8 Standard. The MST file disables automatic updates, Acrobat Connect and several other items, however, when I run the install with the transform, none of the changes in the MST are applied. I am using the following command inside a batch file:
msiexec /i acrostan.msi TRANSFORMS=ACROSTAN.MST /qb
I am using the Standard files downloaded from Adobe's secure site, which were then unzipped and used with the customization wizard. I did not create an administrative installation point, as that earlier attempt also resulted in not applying the transform.
I believe the transform file is correct, as I found the above command will work the second time I try to install Standard, but does not work the first time Standard is installed using the MST file.

can you post your transform somewhere? take out the serial number before posting. You might also want to create an install log.

Application closes immediately after launch

i recently returned to using Final Cut Express after few months hiatus. (I have successfully created some videos). During a session of changing some scratch disc preferences, the program hung up and i had to force quit to get out. Since then it will not continue running after launch, but immediately closes. No error messages, just goes away. I do get the startup screen and if I don't have my camcorder connected to the fire wire port, I do get the message "unable to locate the following external devices: Apple Firewire NTSC (720 x480)......." which instructs me to check connections, etc. If I reconnect the device and click "check again" it finds it and then immediately closes again. I've tried reinstalling with no improvement. Apparently something else has been corrupted but I can't figure out what. Any ideas? Is there something I should do to have a clean install? What leftover files could be messing up that? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have ver 3.5.1 but I jus finished reading the post http://www.fcpbook.com/Misc1.html on trashing preferences and tried it. That solved the problem. I had earlier just trashed the .plist file but not the other files in the "Final Cut Express User Data" folder. Once that was done, everything started working again. Problem resolved! BTW, do you know whether a usb connected external drive would serve as a reasonable extra scratch disc? I have a 250 gig SATA drive in my now toasted Dell PC which I have now had to hook up to my new iMac via USB 2.0 since it has no SATA ports.

Firefox now manages the downloads in the Downloads folder in the Library (History > Show All History > Downloads) and download are treated as history items.

So you open the Library if you inspect all downloads and this Library window doesn't close automatically.
When a download is in progress then you see a download progress (timer) bar on the Navigation Toolbar instead of the Download Manager button and that button is highlighted once the download has finished to make you aware the their are new downloads.
You can view the new Download Manager in a tab by opening the about:downloads page and consider to open this page in a separate window.
You can set the Boolean pref browser.download.useToolkitUI to <i>true</i> on the <b>about:config</b> page to restore the classic Download Manager window and make all download settings appear in "Tools > Options > General".

Acrobat 9 Standard will not download.

I place an order for Acrobat Standard...........but the sofdtware will not download to my PC.
Any ideas as to why????

Kimg68365882 did you purchase Acrobat 9 Standard from Adobe directly? If so and you choose to download the software instead of receive a CD then please see Find a download link on Adobe.com.
If you originally received the software on CD then please use a computer with an optical drive to copy the contents of the CD to a USB drive.

Continuous installation error using acrobat XI standard, will change back to foxit

I try to install acrobat XI standard from DVD on a PC running on Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit.
An error occurs after successful installation and update of the registry (4 seconds remaining)
The complete error message is:
An error occured during the installation of assembly component {76C3F0F6-9B9D-35DA-81C6-CA8A88CC93CA} HRESULT 0x80070002
The proposed links to help topics for unrelated error codes were not useful. After buying a standard software, I expect qualified support.
My impression is a severe quality problem in the technical support of Adobe.
Maybe you can forward this messge to someone with better knowledge of installation problems.

Is there any exit code mentioned in the error message along with 76C3F0F6-9B9D-35DA-81C6-CA8A88CC93CA} HRESULT 0x80070002 ?

you can use Java Script code within the your JSP page for closing the window automatically after spacified time. -- Java Script's setTimeOut event,
If you are using java- AWT, then Java Provides interface WindowListener. you can call the close function of the same after particular time span. But As per my knowldge you cant use Java's Util.Timer class for the same.
I think Java Script code scritptlet is the best option

One thing to consider is that you cannot enforce the use of JavaScript. You certainly can enforce the use of JSP. So if for example you are seeking to close the window as a security measure than the only way to do this is to timeout the user session in JSP as described in my first post.
The first post asked if you can do this from Java and the answer remains it is impossible. Further it remains impossible for you to force this action upon the user using JavaScript which is a very important consideration.
