Acrobat XI cannot save the file, cannot read document

Recently acquired Acrobat XI with a new scanner. with several specific files that were sent to me, I get an error message that it cannot save the file because it cannot read it error (135). 3 out of 4 documents are originals. The 4th was apparently printed out and scanned. No problem with it. Any suggestions? I've pretty much tried everything and only solution seems to be creating jpgs files and then turning them back into a PDF file. Another party who received the files reports she has no problem with it. My guess is that she has an older version of Acrobat. I'm having the same problem with the Reader version.

Thanks for the response. I sent a response to the email notification but since I don't know if that puts my response on the forum, I'm putting it here as well. Yes, Under "help" I've run the updates multiple times and none are available. I did see a fix that sounded like it was for this type of situation but I could not find the switches in the program to carry out the recommendation. It sounded like the problem was that XI has trouble "reading" some documents and gets "hung" as a result. The solution was to turn off this feature. But I don't see how I can do that. I downloaded Soda PDF (alternative program) and it did not have any problem with it. Also, someone else opened it with no problem.

I sent a PDF file to someone via email, they were able to fill out the form but they cannot save the file to send back, I have checked the security properties and there were no restrictions. Do I need to save the PDF a specific way? I have sent it to others that have Acrobat Pro and are able to save but those without Acrobat are unable to save. Please advise!
    Thank you!

    Hi MSMistry1,
Users with Adobe Reader 8 and later will be able to save form data if you save the form as a Reader Extended PDF with Enable Additional Features selected. See http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/X/pro/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7e0d.w .html

  • I get this message "Cannot save the file as the font "ArmenianLSU-italic" could not be embedded because of licensing restrictions. Turn off the pdf compatibility option and try again. I have this file from when I had CS4. It worked then. I trying to make

I get this message when I am trying to save a file that was done in CS4, now using  CS6 "Cannot save the file as the font "ArmenianLSU-italic" could not be embedded because of licensing restrictions. Turn off the pdf compatibility option and try again." Even if I start a new file I unable to save it with this font. I need to use this font.

Then you need to outline all text before savng the PDF.
Make sure you do this on a copy of the file.

  • I am trying to download iTunes, but cannot save the file because the thank you page comes up right away.

I am trying to download itunes 11.1.3.
    I cannot save the file,ItunesSetup.exe.
I click on Save File and nothing happens, I use XP.  The thank you page comes up right away

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • PPT has found an error and cannot save the file in Microsoft Powerpoint2010

I have been working in 2010 for 6 months and this is the 3rd time I have experienced this error.  I am using my own 2010- created, macro-enabled template - I want to save the file but I get an error message stating PPT
has found an error and cannot save the file.
This has happened on both newly created files using this template, and files previously successfully saved.  The template has been used without error many, many times.
I have on occassion been able to save as a 97-2003 file and then resave (with some loss of function) as a 2010 macro-enabled file, on another occassion I was not able to do this and lost some work.
Copying into a new document didn't solve the problem. Copying into a different template didn't solve the problem.
Any ideas what is happening, and how I can stop it happening?
    Kind regards

    Hi,
Have you tried saving the file in *.pptm format (basically this extension is for powerpoint presentation with macros)
Maybe try Save As and see if you can save it under a different name.
Once you get the file closed, then reopen PPT and go to Office Button | PPT Options | Resources. Run Office Diagnostics there.
In addition, make sure you have a local printer driver installed and set as the default printer. And it really might fix the issue.

  • Cannot save pdf files using Reader 9.1

I cannot save the pdf files from online journals as .pdf files using Reader 9.1  The only options it gives me are html or plain text.   Previous versions of Reader saved the pdf files easily.  Configuration issue?

What browser are you using? Are you positive that they are PDF files? If so, do you have a link we can look at?
Typicaly, if they really are PDF fies, that's the only option you get when you use fie>save as. If they're just web pages, you get the options that you mention.

  • Infopath cannot save the following form - this document library was either renamed or deleted

    Hi there,
I'm working in InfoPath 2013, using a remote desktop connection to a Windows 7 machine publishing to an on-prem SharePoint 2013 server.
When creating my form, I go to publish it to a form library and get the following error:
InfoPath cannot save the following form http://myformlocationandname This document library was either renamed or deleted, or network problems are preventing the file from being saved. If this problem persists, please contact your network administrator
I've tried updating a library, creating a new library, but neither work. I can however, edit a list and customise the form to then publish back without a problem.
If anyone could offer any advice, I'd be very grateful! :-)
    Thanks very much,
    Alex

  • Adobe Acrobat form created and emailed but recipient cannot save the form in reader after filling it out

When I purchased Acrobat today, the Adobe sales rep told me I could create fill-in forms that I could email to others, who could fill them out using Adobe Reader.  When the recipient tried to save the completed form, he was unable to save it to his computer, only able to print.  Is this correct, or is there a step we are unaware of?  He owns Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, but I'm using Acrobat 11 (purchased it today).  Acrobat Pro 9 cannot open the forms I sent...  now we are stuck.
    Solutions?

    Hi DMOliver,
Please try saving the form as 'Reader Extended' and check.
    Regards,
    Rave

  • Cannot save the file may be read only

Does anyone know how to save a current PDF in Adobe Acrobat X pro if getting "the file may be read only, or another user may have it opened.  Please save document with a different name or in a different folder" windows 7.  The file has not been opened by anyone, and this happens when I amend the document and try and save again.  I have turned off "protected view" within the preferences.  Deselected the file in its folder, and turned off the preview pane in the explorer window.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get around this?  thank you.

Chances are it is a problem with the preview being turned on in Explorer. You might try closing Explorer, changing it to a different folder, or turning off the preview (the typical solution).

  • When I download a .pdf file using mozilla, I cannot open that file despite having adobe reader on my desktop. I cannot save the file to open at a later time

I wished to view a .pdf file of a vehicle brochure. Mozilla found the brochure ok, but would not let me view it or save it. I ended up having to use IE to download and then view the file. How do I enable Mozilla to allow me to view .pdf files< I have Adobe Reader 9 installed on my PC (using Dell and Window 7)

  • Cannot save jpg files in outlook express

Is there a problem sending a jpg file from Apple mail to outlook express? People I am sending to say they can see the photo, but cannot save the file.

Do you have the "send Windows friendly files" checked? Other than that, there isn't much you can do that I know of; it is the recipient's ISP server/settings and their mail client settings that determine the remainder.

  • Unable to save mpp 2013 file, error "the file cannot be opened"

Using a local copy of Microsoft Project Pro 2013.
Opening and editing mpp files created only with 2013, never using earlier versions or format.
However, sometimes after opening a 2013 mpp file, working on it, then trying to Save, or Save-AS, pops up a message
The file "project.mpp" cannot be opened.
At this point is it IMPOSSIBLE to save the file in any way!
Can't save or Save-As to any location on my computer or network.
This is very frustrating to loose all the work done on a file. This happens in various files, never on specific files or anything else I can put my finger on.
-----------The full error is as following--------------
The file "project.mpp" cannot be opened.
    * Check that the file name and path are correct.
    * Check that the file format is recognized by Project.
Project files saved in versions earlier than Microsoft Project 2000 can't be opened.
If your file is from an earlier version, open in that version, click Save As (File menu), and save in MPX format. Open the MPX file in the current version of Project. When you use this method, project data is imported, but formatting is lost.
    Your kind assistance please,
    Thank you

I cannot seem to edit PDF files on Adobe Acrobat as it says the files are protected and I need to enter a Permissions Password?

If the files have a permissions password, you need to know it, and remove security, before you can edit the files. That is correct.

Just upgraded to Mavericks. Now I cannot access scans from my hp scanner. After it complete the scans and I try to save as tiff, jpeg or pdf I get a either a grey blur or a message that says cannot save because the file cannot be written to. I did not have any problems before the upgrade. I would greatly appreciate any light shed on this.

Go to the HP site and look for drivers for your scanner. It apparently needs an updated driver to work with Mavericks.
