Acrobat XI Decoder Problem

An error says that Acrobat XI does not have a decoder for audio content.  The file is an MP3.  I have the latest Flash player installed.  Running Windows 8.  How do I fix?

I would like to provide a sample, but I do not know how to do so from a proprietary disk that cost about $900.  Pat Willener's link seem to go to purchasing some cloud services.  I do not know of how I can provide you with a sample.  The problem is aggravating and did not occur with Windows 7 or the Reader version that I had before my prior computer bricked.  There has to be a way that you can work with me to fix this problem.  I would be happy to upload files if there was a clean and simple way to do so.  So far, I find this exercise to be a kluge and entirely unhelpful.  I took a screen shot of the error message and saved it in CS6 as a .psd.  You will not even let me upload that!  This is unhelpful.

  • Acrobat 11 Pro - problem with right-click "Convert to Adobe PDF" output folder

I'm migrating from one machine running Windows XP Pro with Acrobat 8 Pro to Windows 7 Pro with Acrobat 11 Pro.
On the XP machine, when I right-click on a document and select "convert to Adobe PDF" the process works just fine - it always outputs the file to the target destination I have set in the Adobe PDF printer definition.
On the Windows 7 Pro/Acrobat 11 Pro machine, the exact same settings are ignored: the PDF will always end up in the same folder as the source file.
Both the source folder and the destination folder are on one of my office's networked drives.
Under the Printing Preferences, I have the output folder address set the same on both machines, so it *should* go to the right location on the new machine.
Oddly enough, on the Acrobat 11 Pro machine, if I select Adobe PDF as the default printer and do a test print, it *does* print to the correct folder!
    This has got me stumped!
    Thoughts?
(update from later in the day)
If Adobe PDF is selected as the default printer, I *can* select a bunch of documents, right-click, select "print", and Word will open up, and they'll print to the correct target folder.
So, it's "just" the right-click "Convert to Adobe PDF" that doesn't work correctly.

The reinstall is typically the last ditch effort to do. The first step is Help>Repair and Help>Updates. As far as Office 2013, the PDF Maker of AA X is not compatible and you can only print. In your list of errors it showed a problem with AcroTray.exe. As a first step, go to the print and select print-to-file. The file will be a PS file (maybe with a PRN extension). Once the printer if finished, open the file in Distiller to complete the process. If that is successful, then the problem is with AcroTray. Check your running tasks to be sure AcroTray is indeed running. If not, that is likely the problem. If it is, then restart it (it is located in the Acrobat folder). AcroTray provides the interface between the PS creation and Distiller to automate the process of creating the PDF.

  • Delete Comments - Adobe Acrobat 9.0 - Problems.

We use Acrobat 9.0 for shared reviews using Lotus Notes. Recently on a shared review we have been getting messages after publishing comments and trying to exit the review. The first one reads.
"There are unpublished comments in the file.
You can publish them so that all reviewer can see them, save these comments as a private draft, or delete them."
    With these buttons:
[Publish Comments] [Save Draft] [Delete Comments] [Cancel]
To be on the safe side I select [Publish Comments]to be on the safe side.
Then when I try to exit the following dialog pops up in a box.
"The shared review document contains several comments from other reviewers that have not yet been published to the server. You can take ownership of the comments and publish them on behalf of the reviewers. Your name appears in the title bar of the comments and the original reviewer name appears in the body of the comment.
Do you want to publish these comments."
    This dialog has these buttons
    [Yes] [No]
I select [No] and so far there hasn't been a problem.
Other times this scenario goes on. This dialog box pops up with the following message.
"You have previously saved this file with unpublished comments. Click Publish Comments to automatically share these comments with other reviewers. Click save draft to keep them unpublished."
    With these buttons:
    [Publish Comments] [Save Draft] [Cancel]
I select [Publish Comments]. Which brings up the next dialog box with the following text.
"The document could not be saved. The file maybe read-only or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder."
This dialog box has just an [OK] button, which I choose which brings up
    this dialog box again.
"You have previously saved this file with unpublished comments. Click Publish Comments to automatically share these comments with other reviewers. Click save draft to keep them unpublished."
    With these buttons:
    [Publish Comments] [Save Draft] [Cancel]
The only way to close the document and get out of Acrobat is to choose [Save Draft.
My understanding on how this all is supposed to work is:
    Create a document for reveiw.
    Invite Reviewers to review.
Reviews post their own comments and publish them separately, without disturbing other reviewers and their comments or commenting.
When reviewers do not know what to do with all the above messages, my phone rings off the hook with what should I do questions, th
at I don't even know the answer to, much less why this is happening.
Then they are able to exit Acrobat.
I am running XP Pro, with three gig of memory on an IBM Think Centere, printing to a Toshiba printer.

I'm having a similar problem with comments posted "on behalf of" (on another post), but I did learn something that may help your problem about saving the file.  Before closing the file try publishing comments and then do File > Save first.  Then close Acrobat.  When I do this, Acrobat does not prompt to save and then force a Save As.
Acrobat does not seem to work as one would expect, and messages presented to the user are not informative enough.  Also, I have not been able to find documentation on the various messages that appear, and good troubleshooting instructions.
I hope this is an easy software fix.  The concept for shared reviews is great, and I want to use it.  But with a 500 page document, 3,500 comments, and dozens of reviewers, little problems waste a lot of time, money and energy.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Std - Problem with Outlook Addon

    Hello everybody,
i got a serious problem with my AA9 pdf addon for MS Outlook 2007.
I usually convert my emails to PDF hitting the pdf addon icon on outlook, when i chose my destination path (//server/mails/) sometimes the pdf output works fine, but a second after, the file is removed from acrobat.
This wont appens with 8.1 version.
This problem appens 1 time every 10/20 saving process, others works fine.
I've tryed to update my version to 9.4.2 from 9.2.0 but nothing changed. Also tried to contact Acrobat tech support but they have no clue about this problem and they suggested to open a topic in the general forum.
I'm using windows xp sp3 and the shared path is on a linux server (it works fine).
    Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Dears, thanks for your help.
I've asked to my colleague to try to save in local but it's really slow his work.
Btw i can surelly answer to other points:
The account type is IMAP configured on MS Outlook 2007 SP2
The number of messages is about 5 every 60 saving process.
Please find attached sceenshot. As you can see the langueage is Italian, but i can help on translating every checkbox, or, you could just compare with a ENG version of AA9.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro problem with 10.1.1 MSP

I have an AIP for Adobe Acrobat X Pro and applied the 10.1.1 MSP to it yesterday.
When I attempt to deploy through Group Policy, I receive:
Error 1334:  The file 'acidviewobj.tx' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file Data1.cab
I expanded Data1.cab and the file is definitely not there.
I have built this package using the following:
    Downloaded AcrobatPro_10_Web_WWEFD.exe (10.0.0)
Ran -nos_o -nos_ne commands to extract
Created MST using Customization Wizard X
    Applied 10.1.1 MSP patch
    Am I doing something wrong?

    OK, figured it out.
My problem was that I was reusing AIPs, which Adobe discourages in their Enterprise Admin Guide.
For every quarterly update, you have to recreate the AIP, then apply the new quarterly patch. I don't feel this is adequately explained in the guide, but it's the only series of steps that worked for me.
    So:
    Create a new 10.0.0 AIP
msiexec /a C:\Acrobat\AcroPro.msi (where AcroPro.msi is an unmodified, original 10.0.0 package. Re-extract from the 10.0.0 installer if you only have patched versions left)
choose a unique subfolder for this AIP, something like C:\Acrobat\AIP_1011\
Patch this new AIP with your quarterly patch
    msiexec /a C:\Acrobat\AIP_1011\AcroPro.msi /p AcrobatUpd1011.msp
Now you can push out installs with this new, patched AcroPro.msi in your new AIP folder
    msiexec /i C:\Acrobat\AIP_1011\AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS=C:\Acrobat\transform.mst REINSTALLMODE=vomus REINSTALL=all REBOOT=reallysuppress /qb

  • Problem beim installieren von Adobe Acrobat X Pro/Problem when installing Adobe Acrobat X Pro

    Hallo,

    Hello,
I wanted to update Adobe Acrobat to X Pro. When I wanted to start the installation an error message occured. The systemrequirements aren't given.
    My systemrequirements:
OS: Windows XP Professional SP3 (32bit)
    3 Gb main memory
    Prozessor: Intel Core2-Duo
30 Gb free Hard drive space
    Internet Explorer 8 is installed
So you see the systemrequirements are given. On other PCs with the same configuration I updated Adobe Acrobat to X Pro without any problems.
Has anyone ever seen such a problem?
    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Top93

    Ok, I found the problem.
On the PC Windows XP Pro SP2 was installed. Usually we've got a standard image on all our PCs with the main software like OS, MS Office and other programms. So I didn' look at the OS which is installed on this PC because on every PC is XP Pro SP3. I've got no idea why there was only SP2 on this PC.
Nevertheless many thanks for your time and your effort David.

  • Acrobat X Pro--problems after 6/14/11 update

Has anyone else seen problems with the print cycle after doing the 10.1 (6/14/11) update to Acrobat X Pro?
These only started happening with that update: uninstalling the updated AXPro and reinstalling from the original distribution causes the problems to go away.  But letting the update run from the automatic download always causes these problems to reappear.
(This is on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit; 8-processor i7 with 8Gb RAM and 2.5Tb of disk space; so hardware is not a problem.)
What I'm seeing are two, seemingly related, things:
    1) Having Distiller (from any app or browser) write a PDF into a 'normal' folder with "View Adobe PDF results" checked, causes the PDF to go into that directory as expected.  However, acrobat.exe does not appear to start, and if you go to the output folder and double-click on the file, Reader reports that the file is locked.
On bringing up Windows Task Manager as administrator, going to the Processes tab and then having it "Show processes from all users" reveals that acrobat.exe is indeed running, but it's running as a SYSTEM process, not a user process.  Now, under Windows, SYSTEMS processes cannot be brought forward into the USER space in which the GUI is running (it can't access the user's desktop), so that copy of acrobat.exe cannot come to the desktop.
The solution is to use Task Manager to slam the process (right-click on "Acrobat.exe *32" [*32 means it's still a 32-bit executable], then click 'terminate process'), which kills the hidden Acrobat session.  This frees the PDF so that it can then be hand-opened with a USER-level copy of Acrobat.  This is a royal PITA to have to do after every print job!
    2) Setting Distiller to write the output into an encrypted folder causes the same problem as in 1), however, Distiller also writes bad security data (or errantly causes that bad security data to be written) into those files.  This means that, even after killing the headless Acrobat process, the generated PDF's cannot be opened, no matter how high your security level.  (Nor can you open them if you move them from that encrypted into an unencrypted folder, if the system will permit you to do the move--sometimes it won't because of those screwed up SID's [security ID's].)
I've worked with the internals of the Vista/7 security mechanisms in Windows, but cannot find a way to fix these files.
The only solution is to delete those corrupt PDF files and reprint, this time into a non-encrypted folder, then follow the "solution" for 1).
I filed a bug report on these conditions last week, but haven't received any acknowledgement of that.

Not here. All I can suggest is to DL and install the HP Update 2.6. Photosmart C4680.

  • Acrobat Reader X Problem

I recently upgraded from Acrobat Reader 9 to Acrobat Reader X on Windows Vista. Ever since I have not been able to open any PDF documents that are sent to me via e-mail with Adobe Reader X although I can open up pdf files that are on my computer. When I try to open a e-mailed pdf  document with Acrobat Reader X opened on my desktop it gets opened by Acrobat Professional Version 8 which was preinstalled on my computer and cannot be deleted. This does not stay open because I did not subscribe to the software. I have tried reinstalling Adobe Rearder X as well as using the "Repair Adobe Reader Installation" feature in Adobe Reader "Help" and also via the Control Panel "Set Associations" feature. This has never happend previously with any other Adobe Reader upgrades. I am not certain what else can be attempted or how to resolve the problem?

    Hello Michael,
I think Galena01 was actually asking about Reader X and not Acrobat.  She was just trying to give additional information.
I have the same issue in that after installing Reader X, it is no longer possible to open pdf files attached to emails or from websites.  A Reader screen does appear but it remains blank even after several minutes and IE is often locked and a logoff / logon in Windows is required as Task Manager will not shut down IE in this situation.  The only workaround appears to be to open Reader X first, then open the online pdf file.
I believe Adobe have released faulty code.

  • Adobe Acrobat Distiller 9 Problems

    Hi,
New to the forum - hopefully someone can help me out. I have also tried the Adobe Forums, Quark Forums etc. etc. with no result - all are blaming Apple - so here I am. (Mod's please move this thread if it isn't in the right place).
Specs first - Quark 8.12, Suitcase Fusion 13.2.1, Acrobat Distiller 9.2.0, Mac OSX 10.5.8.
When I create pdfs from Quark (Indesign etc.) - I print them through the print dialogue box (using the acrobat PPD) - save them - and it prints like if it were going to a printer (output device) but creates a pdf. This is the way I have always done it and the way I want to continue to do it.
What I am experiencing is that even though I have specified create "Low Resolution" or "Standard Resolution" pdfs it outputs/saves them as "High Resolution" Pdfs.
The other day it was the opposite I specified "High" and it save a "Low Resolution" pdf.
The high resolution pdfs seem to be extremely large also. Previously in Acrobat Distiller 7 a high resolution pdf file of one particular document I have was 50Mb in size, the same document distilled in Acrobat Distiller 9 gives my a 250Mb pdf file!!
I am also experiencing unwanted rotation of pages with the pdf creation ie a landscape page is distilled (rotate) to a portrait page.
I have tried deleting settings, creating new documents and pasting the information in, pdfing on other computers all with the same results.
What I have found is that if I just use the default acrobat settings - standard, small, high quality etc. the files pdf fine and have expected file sizes etc.
But as soon as I make a custom setting in distiller or use a 3rd party acrobat setting that's when the problem/s occur - large file sizes, rotated pages etc.
What is also weird is if I turn "auto rotate pages" to "off" in acrobat distiller it will rotate the pages (a landscape but distills it to portrait) but if I choose one of the other settings like "individually" it pdfs OK in the right orientation.
Anybody have any ideas of why Distiller (or whatever) freaks out when I change the settings?? (creates massive pdf files, rotates pages etc) I need to be able to make custom distiller settings for various newspapers, magazines etc.
    So just to recapp:
Default Acrobat Distiller settings work but custom or 3rd party settings do not work in Acrobat Distiller. Nor do they "Stick/Stay" in the drop down menu when you select them like the default settings do - the menu defaults back to "default".
I have upgraded to 9.2.0 - reset the printers - Uninstalled the software and reinstalled it all with the same result.
Doesn't matter if I make a PS file etc and drop it onto distiller - still get the same outcome.
    Please Help!!
    Thanks

Got Distiller to work. Seems the problem was with software activation/licensing. I got different software - and a free update to Acrobat 9 Extended - from my merchant and installed it. Distiller now does not crash anymore when starting it up and appears (thus far) stable.
However, I still get an error message at start up:
    Adobe PostScript software version: 3018.101
Adobe PDF Settings file read error in PDFX4 2008.joboptions:
    /CheckCompliance out of range
A quick web search shows that this is also not a new problem. Some say that Distiller is not able to create PDF/X4 files and that the error is thus a bug in Distiller itself. Is that true? (I can't find a joboptions file of that name in my system ...)
Do I need to do anything about it or can I just leave it?
