Acrobat XI (Mac) always scaling print

This just started a couple of days ago. Any time I print anything from Acrobat XI (11.0.0), the print is scaled to fit the size of the stock I'm printing on. So, when I print something letter size with crop marks on a 12x18 press sheet, the print is blown up to fit into the printable area of the press sheet instead of the actual size it is supposed to be.
Changing the settings in the print dialog box to "Actual size" or "Custom Scale: 100%" has no effect on it. I've searched through the printer settings and there is nothing there that would cause this. Printing from any other application (such as Preview on the Mac) works like it is supposed to (and I would use that option as a temporary fix if Preview actually gave me control over color).
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat XI and this did not solve the problem. Any suggestions?

Experiencing the same thing since I installed Mavericks and updated to Acrobat XI.  Only see this problem when I print to a Wasatch rip (on a pc) that's connected to my large format HP.  Have you had any success since you posted this.

  • PDF files created in Acrobat Pro X for Mac will not print correctly on Windows - text is missing

I recently created a PDF file with pictures and texts in Acrobat Pro X. However, when I send it to my coworkers (who work on Windows computers), the printed file contains only images, and no text. I am using Century Gothic - a font that is installed on these Windows computers. When they open the files, they can see the text and everything exactly as it is meant to be. However, upon printing, the text disappears completely.
We are using a Konica Minolta Bizhub printer to complete these printouts. When I print from my computer (the Mac), the files print perfectly on this printer. However, when using the same printer, a Windows user cannot print the text in the PDF's.
Has anyone else run across this problem? I am thinking of trying to embed fonts, however it doesn't seem like it would make much of a difference (since the fonts show up fine on a Windows computer anyways). Is there a known issue with printing PDF's on a Konica Minolta printer?

The archive format you used embeds all fonts, as does Press and Print type job settings. The standard job settings does not embed all fonts and that might be where the problem was.

  • My Adobe Acrobat does not always print from Illustrator.  This is very time-consuming to have contin

My Adobe Acrobat does not always print from Illustrator.  This is very time-consuming to have continuous problems that are obviously software based.  I have no issues with Illustrator, but we communicate on this campus via low res PDF files as proofs for approval.  Acrobat gives me no reasons why it does not want to print, it just says it can not print the file.  Fonts are NOT and issue here.  It will created a high res Illustrator PDF file but I can not print a low res PDF file.

This usually happens when you introduce a specific dependency like trying to resample certain placed image types and things like color profile conversions fail. Also stripping native AI data to reduce file size may cause this. Generally it is not recommended to print to PDF from apps that have native PDF saving functionality, anyway. You can just as well get the same result using AI's Save As feature.

  • Email printed to PDF, PDF appears accurate in Acrobat XI Pro, when PDF printed to paper text missing

    HELP!!!
I have text disappear from Outlook emails printed to PDF when I print the PDF files from Acrobat XI Pro to a printer.
Here is a sample png from the PDF file printed out of Outlook - all the text is showing.
However when I print the PDF from Acrobat to a printer, the document comes out of the printer with text missing as shown:
The Acrobat print window shows all of the text that should be there as does Acrobat's view of the document.
Also, if I save the file to an image, all of the text is there.
I have tried different emails as well as different printers and the paper printed copies of the PDF emails are always missing text.
Additionally I have tried coverting the PDF file to a PDF/A file and printing that and the same problems occur.
Please send some tips as to how I can fix this!

    Hello Atul -
i am having similar printing issues with Acrobat 10.1.4.
in my case both PDFs made by me (from InDesign files) and other PDFs made elsewhere and sent to me are missing text when printed to paper -though they look fine both on-screen and in the preview pane, as Katy noted above.
these PDFs print fine when i open and print from an older version of Acrobat (9.5.2).
they will also print fine from 10.1.4 if i send them to another printer in the office, (a Dell Color Laser 3110cn), the printer i have a problem with is a Kyocera Mita KM-5053 - which leads me to believe that this is some kind of communication error between Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.4 and this printer, or perhaps a driver issue. ?
I don't believe it's merely a preferences/print settings problem as i've gone pretty carefully through all the dialog boxes that seem relevant and have had no luck in solving the problem. Also, the text that's missing seems arbitraty - meaning, it's not merely hyperlinks or certain layers or text in specific type faces that won't print -it's content in the same text box, where other text does print, and it's blacks and colors and various point sizes - in short there are no easily discernable unifying circumstances among the text that does not print.
obvioulsy an easy work around is to just print to the other printer or use the older version of Acrobat, but my concern is more that other people may be experiencing the same issues with PDFs i send them. so if it is a problem in the way i'm generating PDFs (although, as i said, text is also missing from PDFs i have received from other people and printed) i'd like to fix it quickly, so that people trying to print my PDFs don't end up with critical content missing.
i'm on a 2008 MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5, and using the Acrobat (X Pro v 10.1.4) that came with the CS6 Design & Web Premium package - although i'm looking at it online now and it's listed as Acrobat XI Pro..
any input you have would be much appreciated.
    thank you,

  • How to set up Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.5 as printer in Mountain Lion

How do I set up Adobe Acrobat 9 as printer in Mountain Lion as I would with Windows?

Changes in OS X made it impossible for Acrobat Pro to install a "printer" for itself as it did before Snow Leopard. The PPD for Acrobat was always very buggy anyway, so no one really misses that part of it.
For any Adobe app (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), you instead go to the File menu and choose the PDF flyout, as show here:
For other apps, you hit Command+P as always and open the Adobe PDF options at the lower left of the print dialogue box:
Choose "Save as Adobe PDF" and continue on from there to choose your PDF settings.
Quark XPress has all of the pro PDF options built in to its output. You don't use access Acrobat Pro at all in the menus or standard print dialogue.

  • Using Acrobat XI MAC, unable to create Word file from PDF. Tried a simple PDF as well as a complex file. Neither can be created.

Using Acrobat XI mac. Why can I not create a Word file from a PDF?  Tried some remedies offered online, i.e. convert to PDF X4:2008 then try to convert to the Word file. No go. Advise.

    Hello,
I have tried 3 PDFs: one with only text -  created in Illustrator(CS5)  and saved as a PDF default, and the second which was a complex form of text and scanned images created in QuarkXpress and saved as a PDF for print purposes. The third file was a simple PDF offered online to solve problem.
Each attempt was to create a Word file. Each received the same error message: Save as failed to process this document. No file was created.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Acrobat X: Lost default duplex print

When I upgraded, I lost the ability to duplex print by default and would like to know if I can restore it. I'm working on a mac and there is no duplex option in Acrobat's print command. My printer settings are set on duplex and it operates just fine in other programs. In Acrobat, I have to go into its printer settings via Properties to select duplex. I just want Acrobat to not override my printer settings and default to single-sided when I want 2-sided. Is there way to at least change the default print settings in Acrobat without having to change the Properties setting for each and every file? What an odd feature for Adobe to put into this software and I hope a fix is imminent if there is no simple solution in the current version. One expects an upgrade to be an improvement only in areas where it improves the workflow, not detracts from it, yes?

The changes in Acrobat & Reader 10.1.2 associated with printing were clearly a big problem. As far as we know,  no one actually lost the capability of controlling simplex versus duplex printing, but rather, a very ill-conceived mechanism was introduced that assumed that if your printer has duplex capabilities of any type, you would or should use them.
The plans of record are to provide a fix for this issue in the next quarterly update to Acrobat and Reader due next month. There will be a control for duplex in the print dialog, but it will only reflect what you have already set in the printer properties (either on Windows or Macintosh). The dialog will allow you to change that setting while in Acrobat, but it will not make assumptions as to what you could or should do vis-a-vis duplex printing. In this respect, it will be similar to print dialogs in applications such as Microsoft Office in terms of allowing access to duplex printing, but not forcing it.
However, there is something peculiar in your particular situation. Normally, with Acrobat & Reader 10.1.2, if the printer supports duplex as determined by the printer's PPD file (for PostScript devices) or from the driver otherwise, you would see a duplex control in the print dialog itself. The fact that your printer supports duplex (correct?) and that you aren't seeing the duplex control in the print dialog is a problem we aren't currently aware of. You are seeing the forcing of duplex without the ability to control it from the print dialog? Correct? I'll send the report of this to the appropriate group within Acrobat engineering.

    Hello Dov.
Thank you for your input. Can you confirm that these strange printing issues would also cause my PDF files to print in color and 1-sided even when the default in Control panel for my printer is 2-sided and B&W?
    Thanks!

  • How to create dialog in Acrobat on Mac?

    Hi,
Can anyone please guide me how to create dialog in acrobat in mac??
Is there any sample in acrobat sdk for mac which creates dialog without using any third party library??
    Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no longer any built-in cross-platform API for showing dialog boxes other than simple alerts in the C/C++ Acrobat SDK.  Some might consider this a deficiency in a plug-in API for a cross-platform GUI application.  Anyway, you can always use the system APIs, such as Cocoa on Mac or the Windows API on Windows.  We mainly use wxWidgets in our plug-in, for both modal dialogs and modeless palettes.

  • Winblows user getting pummeled by old mac..  Printer install question

    Hello All,
Forgive my stupidity, I`m researching how to do this without much luck, so I thought this would be a good place for help..
Trying to print files off an old Mac quadra 840av.. Can someone tell me what printers are natively supported or how to install a printer driver or what printers have mac drivers to print off the necessary files? It is currently running OS 7.5
It does have an external scsi drive I can put all the files on, but then, and correct me if I`m wrong, I`ll need to purchase software to be able to read these files on a PC.. So printing them seemed to be the best bet.. They are old tax files etc, so a printed copy is just fine by me if I cant access them somehow via PC. Any help/insight is most appreciated.

Configuring the printer? Hmmm? These are Macs! I've always just plugged the printers in and they print (assuming power on and ink or a ribbon available). When your operating system is installed, it puts printer drivers for printers in the Chooser folder in the System Folder. If you have a printer not covered by the default bunch, then one has to install the printer drivers for that printer, which usually came with the printer on floppies or a CD (depending on age.) Some of the printer manufacturers keep downloadable copies on their websites, but some, like HP, remove them when THEY think they're "obsolete" and won't make them available. Then one has to search on the internet for some of the sites where old drivers are collected and made available for download.
If you can transfer the files to an external scsi drive, then any other later Mac with an external scsi port should be able to use them up through the PowerMac 9600 series and the beige G3s. However, along about there Apple switched from stock scsi ports and they had to be added through a pci card. However, later Macs with a PCI card should still be able to read your scsi hard drive, provided you have a scsi cable to do the connecting: there are at least three or four different scsi connector styles and you might need an adapter cable, depending....
Reading the files on another Mac could be done by the program which made them originally, or depending on what type of files they are, by any number of other programs, often even freeware or shareware programs. Unless they are ASCII text files, reading them on a Windows machine is more problematical. There is the Apple File Exchange control panel which might be able to translate the file into a Windows format you can use. Also, the commercial program MacLinkPlus can translate a lot of different file types, too, which make them readable on Windows. However, if you are talking about some esoteric file type, then MacLinkPlus may not be able to do it.
The only other adjustment is the Page Setup off the File Menu, which just has some obvious choices for printing your page.

  • How to connect 10.9 Mac to USB printer via E2500 router?

So I've established that Linksys Connect software is incompatible with a Mac running OS 10.9 Mavericks.
Is Linksys Connect the only way to connect a Mac with a printer connected to the E2500 router? Or is there another way to make it work?

New operating systems and older software always have compatibly issues. Recently firmware updates have been pushed out. Maybe one will come for the E2500.
In a business environment you would normally share out the printer from a server or PC. Sharing from a router will be problematic.
How about the reverse; sharing the printer from the MAC to the PC? Do you have an old computer lying around you can turn into a Printer server? I just had a thought, there are actual printer server devices made for this as well.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • Expandable text fields in acrobat for mac?

I need to design a interactive form (on a mac) that has interactive text fields that are dynamic, expandable and flow. Basically, I have static questions that have to be answered, and depending on the amount of copy that the user puts in, the copy will flow down.
Im fairly familiar with the workings of interactivity, but i have done some searches for this feature in acrobat pro for mac, and I am not coming up with anything. Is there some coding I could add, or some way of doing this on mac base?
Does Acrobat X for mac allow this functionality?
I really need to get this done, and pretty disappointed that such simple functionality is not included in acrobat for mac. Or is it, and Im jut missing it? Is there a runaround way I could do this?
    Thanks!

I  just have to ask, why does acrobat not have this functionality that the pc version does?
I use acrobat professional all of the time-I am a designer. I use it along with all of the other big players, like Photoshop, indesign, etc.
There is a need for this amongst the mac world.
Im just sick right now. How do I tell the client this cannot be done AT ALL on a mac, when it would be so easy on a pc, and everything you'd need is already bundled in a nice little package. (acrobat pro and extended for PC)
Adobe, you just sent us back about 5 years.
So, any other ideas of how I can get this to work? Another application?
Well, like other Companies rather than than creating one master code That just needs to change for differences in the look and Feel.
Because The Mac Market is not as Large as PC, they don't put as many features in the Mac Version.  That's the way its always been. They think we will put up with shortcomings. And and the sad fact is we do. Just to have any Software. Office2011 comes about as close to Parity as any software out there. It now has Outlook and uses the same Macro Engine as the PC version. However, it still has features missing that in the PC version. And some of the Macro commands that work on PC won't work on Mac (ActiveX Controls for one).
Its just the cards we are dealt. Until the Mac Market becomes equal Parity with The PC Market Then we will have the power to have decent software.
