Acrobat XI not opening files
I recently installed Acrobat XI (11.0.09) and now I can't open any .pdf files (running Windows 7). Is this specific to my machine or is this an issue that other people are experiencing?
I tried uninstalling and re-installing but haven't been able to get it working.

What happens when you don't try to open any pdf files but only try to launch Acrobat application.
Does it launch?
Please try following steps:
Delete all the files from following folders:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache
And, delete all files from following folder except cache.db
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ Adobe PCD
Launch the product and activate again and check.

I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard version in Windows 8.1 and when I try to create a .pdf file, I receive the following error message "Acrobat could not open "file name.log" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged. To create a PDF document, go to the source application then print the document to .pdf" I am going to the source application and printing the document to .pdf yet it's saving the file as a .log file. I have a similar problem which i did not have before...and it exists only in some powerpoint files which i want to print as a pdf file...and i get the same message as above.

APEX 3.0 Printing fails Acrobat could not open file
I like the new printing tab in Apex 3.0 but I have already stumbled across a problem.
If I put text in the "Page Header" with a page item:
REPORT for &P9_USER
The report errors when opening in Acrobat:
Acrobat Reader could not open 'Report[1].pdf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as a email attachemnt and wasn't correclty decoded).
The report opens fine with just
Report
P9_USER is a valid page item.
The "Page Header" help text: Enter text to appear in the header section of the document. To show values of application and page items, use the &ITEM_NAME. syntax.
So, why does it fail?

Acrobat can not open pdf email attachment
Acrobat 8 Professional.<br /><br />A user gets this error message when he tries to open up a pdf email attachment:<br /><br />"Acrobat could not open <File Name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been corrupted (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."<br /><br />I can open up the attachment without any issues.<br /><br />Anybody else have this issue?
Yes, Ron Green here at the NYS Insurance Department. I now have two clients and counting that have somewhat of an identical problem.
Client #1 has Adobe 8 Professional installed on his pc which is running Widnows XP Professsional. Files are scanned using a XEROX MFP network scanner and client is able to open those scanned documents within adobe and then saves them to a network share. Problem arises whenever he attempts to attach the saved document to another application. Once he attempts viewing the scanned document at that point Adobe blows up with the same error message stating the file is corrupt.
Client #2 has Adobe 9 Reader but is still able to follow the same network scanning scenario aforementioned but encounters the exact same problem when attempting to attach the scanned PDF documents.
Is there any type of fix out there for this??? -

Adobe Acrobat 11 will not open files in IE 10.0.06. Problem started about 2 months ago. It can open older files on computer but cannot open or downloadd any from internet. Using Office 2010. Already spent an hour with my computer tech support under warranty. Please help identify issue. Thanks
As a web designer - IMHO, Internet Exploder is absolute garbage disguised as software. This (and thousands of other threads in this and many other forums throughout the web) is just more proof of that. I've used Firefox since 2002 when it was still called Mozilla. It does about a million things IE can't and won't, and does them better, faster, and more sensibly.
Microsoft KNOWS that most corporate workstations have Windows and most I/T departments forbid installation of unapporved software, including browsers, so (by a very slim margin) IE is still the most used browser in the world, but... that doesn't by any means make it the best choice. Because they know so many people are literally FORCED to use it at work, they will not make it more functional than they absolutely have to, because they don't care if people like it or not, when they have no other choice.
On a home computer, it's different, and that's why Firefox is just a fraction of a percentage point behind IE in worldwide use, and thanks to iPhones, Safari is rapidly climbing the numbers too.
Rather than trying to work around something that even Microsoft won't bother to fix, abandon their junk and go with Firefox, Opera, Chrome or Safari. It won't be long till you're glad you did. -

Taggert77_: I have never used NetBeans. I only installed it in the bundle as I had read on another post that somehow installing the bundle magically helped another user with the same problem (he didn't know why it worked after that either).
Before XP SP3 I was able to execute .jar file through cmd prompt. Now I am not.

The proper cmd is simply: java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
I did give your cmd a try, and it produced nothing :( (just like the other correct cmds)

PS. If you do a search for this you'll find an amazing amount of XP SP3 users with the same problem and no solution posted that I could find except one chap that did the unistall install order that I did above). -

I keep getting the Software Update for Firefox 5.0. I try to update after viewing the informatiion choosing English and MacOS X. I would be most grateful for any help; I am 78 and trying but not succeeding. Ah, the scourge of age.Sorry, Firefox 4.0.1 isn't supported any longer, that's why you are getting re-directed. Firefox 5.0 is a security update for 4.0.1; Firefox 4.0 didn't get that update, but Firefox 3.6.18 did. Best to stick with 3.6.18 until whatever you are using for those logins is updated for Firefox 5.0.

Newly installed Acrobat will NOT open from Creative Cloud app on Desktop using Windows 7 Pro - what's the problem?
the cc desktop app is used to install and update cc programs (and a few other thinigs). but that does not include 'opening' the installed programs.
click your start button or your program files directory to find the acrobat executable to launch acrobat (and any of your other apps, adobe or otherwise). -

What is the make of the printer and is it using PCL or PS driver.?
Do you have Acrobat installed on this machine as well?
Please check if 'Print Spooler' service is running on the machine.

after reloading adobe creative suite cs3 on my mac 10.4.11 acrobat will not open any pdfs it previously opened. help!
hello. hey, thanks very much for writing back. i got some good info with a search or two. (info about what regedit is and what corresponds to it in OS X -- regedit allows you to edit "preference" keys for individual programs, OSX's equivalent for these keys are the .plists in User & System: Preferences and Application Support)
what i ended up doing was uninstalling Premiere Pro (not the suite, just PPro). Then i deleted a few preference files:
from User /Preferences/Adobe:
com.adobe.AdobePremierePro.plist
com.Adobe.Premiere Pro.5.0.plist
and from System Preferences:
the file: Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs
and..
/.../Premiere Pro/5.0/...
AMEPrefs.xml (i noticed that there's also a preference file in Media Encoder's own folder so i didn't sweat this one)
Debug Database.txt
Placeholder Preset.epr
PostEncodeCmds.pref
PresetCache.xml
Trace Database.txt
NOTE:
of course i don't know if deleting any files beyond the 2 .plist files in User Prefs was necessary, but... it seems to have worked.
I then reinstalled Premiere Pro CS5, and fired up an old project and i've got playback of HD and DV files, and snappy editing and rendering, so hopefully i'm good to go. I'm just going to stick with v5.0.0 because i actually don't remember ever having any trouble with it, and i don't remember v5.0.4 adding anything i was 'missing' or 'needed'
hopefully, this thread will be useful for any future folks that run into trouble - and it's got a solution for both Windows and OS X

Adobe Reader could not open "file" because it is either not a supported file or it has been damaged. All files and programs on the desktop are shown as Adobe Reader ikons. When I remove the Adobe Reader program, the desktop is ok but when I reinstall the Adobe Reader it makes a mess again on the desktop and in all programs. It seems that the Adobe Reader is somehow a default program for all applications. How do I solve that problem? Best regards Helle D.
For your first question: are you sure that 'file' is a PDF file and that it is not damaged? And you may find this useful for your second question:

InfoSpoke fails with message "Could not open file on application server"

I created an InfoSpoke that is configured to extract to a flat file. The name of the file is specified using a logical filename. During extraction, the infospoke reports the error message "Could not open file on application server" adnd marks the extraction process as red(failed). I have tried to run the InfoSpoke in background mode and in dialog mode and the same error appears. After i run in dialog mode, i checked SU53 for authorization errors and did not find any. I also tried changing the Logical filename setup in transaction FILE to a more "friendly" directory in which i'm sure i have authorizations (e.g. my UNIX home directory) and im still getting errors.

If i configure the InfoSpoke to download to a file using "File Name" option and also check the "Application server" checkbox, the extract works correctly (extraction to the defualt SAP path and filename=infospoke name). If i configure the InfoSpoke to download to the local workstation, the InfoSpoke also works correctly. It's only when i configure it to download to the application server and use the "Logical filename" option, that i encounter a failed extract.

There is a script running which Noscript lets me forbid, called akamaihd.net. It runs a script which is the same as in html when you highlight a word then attach a url to it.
I don't know why I am seeing it but not others. FF and Chrome seem susceptible to it. It's not malware as usually thought of because no virus/malware program finds it here.
