Acrobat XI printing very slow

Hi,
Just upgraded to Acrobat XI v11.0.0.379 from v9 on a Windows 7 x64 system. I find the printing very slow compared to v9. I have a single page text PDF that I print regularly. Under v9, it takes 7-10 seconds to start the print. Under XI, it takes 6-7 minutes to print the same document. Anyone know why this is happening? BTW, I discovered if I set it to "print as image", it will print at about the same speed as v9.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Dov,
The printer is a HP LaserJet 2605dn with 128MB of memory. This is the info from Windows test page:

  • HP LaserJet P1006 Print very slow with Windows 8.1

I have an HP LaserJet 1006 that is installed on Toshiba Laptop running Windows 8.1 and was working fine even from time to time it stop working at all, then I have to remove the software and then reinstall it again and then it works fine, last time I downloaded the Windows 8.1 Driver for the printer.
But this time, first I tried to remove the software but it didn't work; the printer still show up on the control panel - Devices and Printers. then some how I was able to reinstall the software , after that the printer is working but printing very slow even it is a LaserJet printer.
Please any one can help with that?
    Thanks;
    Waleed;

    Hey @wmowafi,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing a slow printing issue on Windows 8.1 when printing to your HP Laserjet P1006 Printer. I would like to work with you today at resolving this issue. Now the only driver available for your product on Windows 8.1 is a hostbased plug and play basic generic driver. Therefore, there is limitations for what can be done for troubleshooting. As you stated, you have already attempted an uninstalled and reinstalled of the driver to no avail. I'm going to suggest some further steps and tools to resolve this issue for you.
    Step 1: Uninstall Your Printer:
    Disconnect your USB cable
Click the following link: Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled to access the Microsoft Uninstall Tool.
Once the website opens, select Run Now on the right hand side
    Allow the Tool to run.
    When prompted choose Uninstall
A list of programs should populate and you're looking for the Laserjet. It may appear as LJ P1000 series. Please select the Laserjet series and Uninstall it.
If the Laserjet doesn't show in the list of programs than your Windows 8.1 computer does not see the Laserjet driver as properly installed.
Step 2: Clear the Temp Files:
Launch your Start screen by right clicking on the Windows icon on the bottom left of your screen or by select the Windows button on your keyboard located to the right of the Ctrl button.
Once the Start screen launches, type the word Run
Click on Run to launch it
In the Run box type %temp% and select OK
Once the Temp folder opens, hold down Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard and everything will highlight in the folder. Select 'Delete' on your keyboard. Don't worry, no files or folders on your actual computer will be removed during this process. If a file is still be used on your computer you will get a pop up to 'skip' the file
Once the Temp folder is emptied of its files, close the window
On your Desktop, right click on the Recycling Bin and left click on 'Empty Recycling Bin'
    Restart you computer
Step 3: Reinstall the Laserjet P1006:
Please keep your USB cable disconnected
Click on the following link: HP LaserJet P1000-P1500 Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver
The driver page for your product will now launch
Select Download and allow the download to Run
Once the download is complete an extraction will automatically run and once completed the installer will launch
Run through the step-by-step on screen instructions.
Please do not plug in your USB cable until prompted
Ensure that your USB cable is plugged in from the rear of the printer directly to the computer. Avoid extenders or docking stations as they can cause printing and communication issues.
    Test printing!
Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your issue. Good luck!

  • Photostat Model HPPhotosmart Plus Prints very slow. WHY?

HP Photosmart plus Model B210 prints very slow. Is this normal. What is pages per minute for this machine??>?

    Hi,
Do you use wireless print ? If yes, when you are sending something to print how BUSY is the wireless router ? (Are you streaming videos, downloading something ...). Please bear in mind, the router can slow the printing jobs, not the printer.

  • Print very slow

lightroom4 works well, but when i go into print module everything gets very slow, was ok.The same applies when I go to print in CS5,windows 7,64 bit ,a fast computer.

Hello , Welcome to the HP Community. I hope you have a pleasant experience here. I'd like to help you with the issue you are having with slow printing document when using the Google Cloud Print function with your HP LaserJet P1102w printer. When you tested the ePrint speed, did you print the same document you attempted to print when testing the Google Cloud Print? The reason I ask is that some larger PDF files may take longer to process at the ePrint and Cloud Print servers, which could be causing the delay. If you have already tested using the same document, I'd suggest making sure you have the most recent firmware update for the P1102w. You can download the firmware update utility here - HP LaserJet P1102w Firmware Update UtilityNOTE: You'll want to make sure that the printer is USB connected before running the update, any interruption during the update can cause serious issues with the printer. You can also try removing the printer from your Google Cloud Print account and re-adding it. Here are the steps to do so: Open the Google Chrome Browser on your computer.Make sure your Gmail account is logged in.Go to www.google.com/cloudprint.On the left hand side, select Printers.Click on your HP P1102w and select Delete at the top.On the left hand side, select Add a Cloud Ready Printer.Select HP from the list of manufacturers.Below the picture of the printer, under Setup Instructions, select the 2.Click here link.Type in your printer's ePrint e-mail address, and click Connect.Retry the print job using the Google Cloud Print service. Please respond to let me know if this worked for you.Have a great day.

  • HP Officejet 4355 Printer suddenly start printing very slow! HP technician advice needed!

    Hi,
My HP Officejet 4355 All-in-One Printer suddenly start printing very very slow! I've had it for 4+ years and by God it never ever gave me any problems (maybe minor once, but never actually drove me crazy), considering that i used it very often at home and in the office. I always buy original HP ink cartridge (except that once, when i wanted to see how the refill works - it doesn't), and now latest cartridge has been in the printer for a month or two, nothing unusual, and suddenly my printer starts to print very very slow, if normally it took 10-15 sec for a black and white page, now it take 10-15 minutes! Could anybody suggest help?
Please do not talk about computer/Windows/USB settings, they all work fine. I disconnected printer from PC and did "Align Print Cartridge". First step, the printed part, took 10 minutes, second step, scanning part, did not go through. It said printer can't allocate aligning page...
By the way, i did look around for the answers and found that some people say it's a ink cartridge fault. But i used this cartridge for a few months now, it's almost, but not yet finished, it was printing perfectly so far. Printouts during this issue come out OK, 7 out of 10.
Anybody have any ideas? If I could attract professional help of HP technicians, it would be perfect.
    Thank you.

Even though they still have ink a cartridge may fail and give the results you are seeing, where the printer makes a swath and then waits 10-15 seconds for the next swath. This is caused by the failure of one of your cartridges.  Removing each cartridge and cleaning the contacts on the cartridge and printer may resolve the issue.
I do not recall if the Officejet 4355 supports reserve mode, but try the following:  Remove the black cartridge and print a test page.  Does the printer print at normal speed?  Is so the black cartridge was the issue and should be replaced.  If not then put the black cartridge back in and remove the color cartridge and print test page.  If the printer now prints normal speed the color cartridge was at fault and needs to be replaced.

  • HT1338 epson 545 prints very slow with airport

Epson 545 does not show in airport utility, but will print very slowly.

    I would try this:
Do a factory reset on your printer (check the manual for how)
Go to system preferences > Printers and Scannerscontrol click on your printer in the column on the left, and select Reset Print system..., and reset in the next dialog
Delete all other Epson applications and Epson printer utilities.
power down everything: modem, router, computer, and printer.
restart the modem and let it power up completely
restart the router and let it power up completely
restart the computer and let it power up completely
restart the printer. Enter your wifi password in the printer to connect it to the network.
go back to printers and scanners. It should see the printer and install the print driver.
resist the temptation to use any other Epson software

  • Hp4630 printer is printing very slow

hp4630 printer is printing very slow

Hello @tommy2tone , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are having issues with your print speed.  I would like to help!
Are you connected via wireless, or USB cable?
If you are wireless, do you have the same issues when printing via USB?
Do you have the same issues when making a copy as opposed to a print?
I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Acrobat 9 Pro printing very slow

    Dear All,
I have recently installed Acrobat 9 Pro on Mac OS 10.6 Snow Tiger. Works fine, but is incredibly slow in printing. Spooling takes ages.
The same files printed with Adobe Reader or Mac Preview print instantly (it's only text files, nothing heavy).
I have made sure that the "print as image" option is deselected. This happens with any printer (I have tried it on an HP LJ1300, an HP LJ2055, an Aficio 5000, Aficio 2000, and a Xerox Workcenter - so I suppose it has to do with Acrobat, not with the printer).
    Thanks
    Andrea

For both of you See if there is a new print Driver version for your printer.
For the person with OSX.6 (Snow Leopard)  do the following to install.
go to printer Utility and Delete the current Driver from list (after downloading latest Driver from Manufacturer).
    install new Driver perinstaller.
    Open Printer Utility
look for the new Printer listing and select.
Choose new Printer Listing as Your default Printer
    close Printer Utility.
    Go to System Preferences
Click Printing & Faxing (if still named that in SnowLeopard)
Choose your new printer Driver as default there as well.
    close System Prefernces
Your now set to use the latest Driver

  • Acrobat 9 Pro very slow open files over network in Windows 7

I have installed Acrobat 9 pro on my new PC. It's running Window 7 64bit. I use it for pre-press of high-resolution files for printing. Sometimes the file sizes run into the 100s of MB.The new PC has reasonably high specs, with 6Gb of RAM and a 2.8Ghz Quad core i7 CPU and gigabit networking.
Opening them when on the local hard disk is reasonably fast. For example a multi-page 400Mb file starts drawing the first page withing 3 seconds. But opening the same file when it's on the server of our gigibit network generates a very long pause. The application locks up and dispays a "not responding" message for 2-3 minutes. The bigger the file, the longer the pause. It doesn't completely crash -- eventually it starts to draw the pages and I can work as normal.
I used to have Acrobat 9 pro on my old XP PC which was a cheap low-end machine when bought 3 years ago. (has on-board shared RAM graphics card and only 1Gb of RAM). But what grieves me the most, is this slow old machine will open the same 400Mb file off the server so much faster than my expensive new machine. There is no lock up and it begins drawing the first page after only approx 5 seconds.
The problem doesn't seem to be simply related to slow network speed. I can copy the entire 400Mb file from the server to my hard disk in only 12 seconds. The old PC is actually slightly slower copying to/from the network. If the application was for some reason copying the entire file into memory or to a local cache, this should still only generate an extra 12 second delay -- not 3 whole minutes.
Adobe Reader 9 doesn't have the problem. I can open the 400Mb file off the network on either my new or old machine within seconds.
Acrobat 9 Pro doesn't have the problem on an old G5 mac either. It's somewhat slower than my old PC but will begin drawing the first page after a few seconds,
So what exactly is Acrobat doing for those 2-3 minutes?
    I have already tried:
    1. changing network ports/cables.
    2. disabling anti-virus software
    3. disabling "remote differential compression"
    4. Patching Acrobat 9 to 9.2
    5. Files located on Windows servers and Mac Xserves.
Not improvements from any of these.

I think I have isolated the source of this problem. It's the Pitstop Professional 9 plug in. I un-installed this, and everything opens quicker than greased lightning. I re-installed it and it's back to slowsville.
Unfortunately Pitstop is essential to my workflow.
Until recently I did my pre-press on a Mac G5 with Acrobat Pro 7 and Pitstop 6.5. I never had this problem with slow file opening. But it seems that the delays would occur when I used the plug-in with large complex files.. So it would open files as fast as you'd expect from an elderly machine. But starting to use Pitstop would result in a prolonged period of staring at a spinning beachball.
I wonder is there any way to stop the Pitstop plug-in from initializing until it is used? So the plug-in stays inert until you select the tool from from the menus.

  • Can't make pdf and getting ready to print very slow

I am using ID CS4 with Windows 7.  CS4 includes Acrobat 9.  I want to create a pdf file of a business card design.  When I chose Print and pdf as the printer, there is a very long pause.  Finally a windows says "Printing" and then a message "Downloading procset."  At this point the process is frozen.  I can go to Task Manager and it shows ID not responding.  No pdf file is produced.
    What's the solution?
And while I mentioned the long pause above, that pause is very long if I want to print from my Officejet printer.  The document will print, but it seems like a much longer pause that should happen.
    Vaughn

Good question.  That's the way I've done it before, but if export is the recommended way, I'll try that.

  • 5740 printing very slow

We have just installed new printer and it's taking 3-4 mins to print a page. Help!

i have to say that printing and setting up printers on linux distro's has been nothing but a pain in the butt.
i have two canon's (S400 and  a S630) that print slower than i work, and that's pretty damn slow  .
the S630 will only work partially at best and the S400, well let's just say i can go out to play for awhile.
to print to full capacity and for critical stuff i have to go back into windows, blah
i recently swapped out the S400 for a used Epson 480SXU. the printer is very compatible with linux and prints just ok speed wise and also does photo's pretty well.
the one distro that seems to have a handle on printers to some extent is Mandrake. i may try out 10.0 in the future just to see if  they got some more printers working.
i am also going to try out turboprint:
    http://www.turboprint.de/english.html
i see your printer listed as well as my canons.
even though this is pay for it stuff i don't think it's so much as to break the bank as long as it works.
    i'll keep you posted,

  • Since we upgraded to OSX Maverick our printer is printing very slow.  Anyone know what I should do?

Since we upgraded to OSX Maverick our printer is running slow.  We have reinstalled the printer.  We have an Epson Stylus NX420 printer.  It makes copies fine it is just when we try to print something that we have a problem.

What part of the printing process is slow? Does it take a long time for the print dialog to appear after select File > Print, or does it take a long time after pressing the Print button for the job to start printing?
Since you mention upgrading to Mavericks, some users have found that a reset of the printing system resolves their printing issues. Note that this action will remove all devices from the Printers & Scanners preference pane. So you will need to add the printer or scanner again after performing the reset.
